Reviews for Azulik - Ecological Resort & Maya Spa

Review 1:no facilities, no room service to speak off, no wifi for guests, no restaurants, no reduction of bill for construction work from 7am till 6pm. Rooms to dark, sheets not changed....I dont need a lot, happy to go for minimal services....but provide the basics and dont charge people for staying on a building site . Close hotel till your ready to open or you will not have any customers after the reviews you will get

Review 2:room /Terrace / location all very beautiful

Review 3:No shower no light Very difficult to see No place to put ur belonging No wi fi

Review 4:The rooms are big and nice I took the room that was facing the ocean Loved it

Review 5:The neighbor, Papaya Playa, has constant techno parties from 4pm-8am and your room will be shaking all night from the music. Staff will tell you it's only Sat, but that's not true. We didn't get a wink of sleep Sun or Mon night because of it. They also did a lazer light show all night pointed straight down the beach, destroying the amazing night sky. There are no lockboxes in the room and staff will be in there 2-4 times per day. Nothing was stolen from us, but your valuables will not be secure at all. This is a glass house, which makes for amazing views, but there are no blinds to close. Anyone at the front door or from either neighboring porch will be able to watch you in bed. There is a construction project in progress with workers coming and going all the time. I was lied to and told it would be finished the last week in Nov, but they aren't even close. It'll be at least next summer. The water heaters are just large enough to fill the tub (no shower at all). Once it's filled and cools off, you won't be able to warm it for at least an hour. Doesn't sound like a big deal until you both want to get cleaned up to go to dinner... remember, no showers at all.

Review 6:Amazing view. This is what you're paying for. Spring for at least the Sky Villa (superior bungalo oceanfront or you will regret it. Avoid lower levels). There are some great staff members.

Review 7:If to be honest you feel there yourself as in a rubish bin. The place is so uncleaned and feels like its a cheap hostel or ... Employees are absolutely not trained, thanks god they changed. Breakfast menu (which includes ONLY egg dishes)for us. Beach is completely uncleaned , it would be great even to get rid of tons of sea weed and clean it out of other rubish: but nobody cares I dont know if people who works there have even a small desire to organize a pleasant stay for visitors or not. Smell of canalization is always there: Construction was going on so its even worse than always , so loud and workers were walking everywhere , while you are trying to relax. We even decided not to tey coctails in the beach bar, cause it was obvious that its awful and unhealthy moreover , buildings are shaking ag night as if there is an earthquake. so it really feels dangerous, constructions doesnt look safe.. And its sometimes impossivle to sleep at night , so you never now if the building will stand it or not. The idea of the rooms is good , but they didnt organize well : so there is always a lot of sand , when its windy and etc New "cleaned" towels were dirty, with dirty spots.... So its not so pleasant Dont want to look like a grumpy or fastidious person , but people have to know.

Review 8:The general idea of design and architecture is fine: but even this doesnt work until they put in order everything Thanks that they tried to preapare veggie breakfast for us.

Review 9:Everyone who decide to go in this hotel must to know that there is no electricity so no lights - just candels , and you don't have a normal shower just a bath with a coconut , and one more thing - the water is from the see , so there is no hot water ... And one more thing all bungalow is moving like is a earthquake so if u want to sleep , it's not possible ... Ah and if is some party forgeth about sleeping until 7,8 in the morning ... Place is nice but people need to know about before they booked .

Review 10:I thing the idea about this hotel , it's very inspirational , and I need to say all the best for the staff and for the menager because I decided to leave this place because of two thing , there is no electricity in the room(no lights) just candels and there is no shower , you need to take a shower with a coconut so I decided to leave ! Place is for a couples totally !!!

Review 11:The only downside is we had to pay for our coffee and breakfast. They are building a restaurant as I speak, but hopefully for the prices you pay to stay here coffee and breakfast will be included. There are good places to eat just a minutes walk from here, but would prefer to roll out of bed grab our food and coffee and eat with a beautiful sunrise shining on our faces.

Review 12:It is like an adult treehouse. Rooms facing the ocean are absolutely incredible with our balcony over the bluffs and ocean. The rooms are absolutely stunning and an unforgettable view. Was perfect for our honeymoon. I Had a Swedish and deep tissue combo massage on the beach with the waves crashing in the background. No music needed & I was in pure relax mode. The staff were super friendly and helpful. And the room really exceeded our expectations!! I was a little skeptical after reading reviews, but it was such an incredible experience beginning to end and just what we needed.

Review 13:It seems like a lot of money for what you get. There's no lighting in the rooms, only small candles after dark. There's two small bottles of water provided on the first night and then to refill a bottle, you have to do so in the reception area. Breakfast was simple and straightforward but expensive with smoothies costing $12USD. The beach is small and isolated from other beaches and while the solitude can be nice if you're taking advantage of the clothing optional feature, it's not conducive to exploring. The staff is as friendly and accommodating as possible, the challenges I witnessed are a management/ownership issue. I've stayed a lot of places around the world and although this place is interesting, it certainly didn't seem like a good value for the money. There are many other places alon the beach that you can stay for the same money that offer much more.

Review 14:The rooms are very interesting, it feels like you're staying in treetop cabanas for the most part and the uniqueness of the space is cool

Review 15:It is a LOT of constructions going on at the moment, a bit noisy.. no restaurant or bar, just very easy food to order to the room like tosted bread etc. We walked to the hotels next to for eating. When finished with renovations it will be even better!!

Review 16:Wonderful location. Beautiful bungalows. Very friendly and service minded staff.

Review 17:The rooms are gorgeous but not very private! You can hear and see everything- try to get a cabana facing the sea otherwise your stay won't be so private

Review 18:This hotel has a great atmosphere you really feel like you're in a jungle!

Review 19:Rooms need organizational shelving and locked safe

Review 20:Design and layout of rooms and balconies to get stunning views of jungle and ocean; use of sustainable construction materials; private beach; candle lighting and no TVs

Review 21:Check in took long, although we did arrive a little early. Wish they had more loungers on the beach.

Review 22:The view from our room was amazing! Breakfast was excellent! Staff was friendly and nice. Welcome massage was much needed and relaxing. Love the tea as well. Toiletries smelled and felt amazing! Wish they sold them!

Review 23:WiFi connection was not strong but you are on vacation. Better not to check emails all the time :)

Review 24:The whole set up and location were perfect. I highly recommend booking the ocean view top floor rooms. Staffs were very welcoming.

Review 25:You have to go to reception to ask for fresh towels, soap, candles, toilet paper etc; The things you would expect to be given in jail without asking. EXPENSIVE so called eco hotel

Review 26:This "hotel" is currently a huge construction site as they are trying to upgrade from 2 stars to 5 stars (charging already 4-5 star rates despite 1 star personnel). There is much noise, including late in the night. The personnel was completely incompetent and unable to fulfill the most straightforward wishes. We did not even get a flashlight although the paths and stairs are completely dark at night. The rooms are "see through", so *everything* going on inside was visible to our neighbours as well as the many construction workers working in the direct vicinity. We repeatedly requested blinds for some privacy, but we never got them. Out of the four attempts of ordering breakfast in advance (the only option if you did not want to wait for an hour at the shadeless "beach bar"), two times we did not get anything at all and the other two times we did get something completely different from what we ordered. We were promised a "clothing optional, adult only resort", but the only time I took a skinny dip at the beach, all local construction workers stopped working and simply stared at me in disbelieve. In summary, our plans for a romatic getaway fell through completely. We were seriously considering leaving early even though everything was prepaid. I think I never left a hotel so disappointed. An on-site manager acknowledged all the problems and promised compensation for them, but nothing happened (except for organizing a flashlight after I had hurt my foot on a dark path).

Review 27:Nice location, although the beach is small and not getting cleaned

Review 28:We had no hot water for a full day. No ice, hot beer at the beach. The restaurant and bar was closed for a full day and we purchased the breakfast option for our stay. Had to haggle with them to make us breakfast. Too expensive for no amenities.

Review 29:The rooms and view was great. The staff was somewhat accommodating.

Review 30:hot tang was broken and no hot water to take a shower that night! they asked me to write a complain but no one get back yet.

Review 31:this hotel is some think so special in Tulum hotel zone, no electricity, just can charge phone and they will light up candles in the rooms hallways around 6. nice bech and very romantic room, we had a bed inside and a bed out by balcony with ocean view.

Review 32:Very, very bad service. No electricity. Which can be romantic, but it can get hot at times and a fan would solve the issue. The staff is not trained for hospitality at all. Incredibly slow and unprepared. The can't answer one single question.

Review 33:Amazing room. Amazing location. Very romantic.

Review 34:Ongoing construction, but a necessary to keep improving.

Review 35:Location, right above the jungle and "over" the sea. View is stoning; no words to describe the beauty of the rooms. Perfect to get in contact with the nature and relax. Staff is friendly and helpful.

Review 36:No shower was difficult in the tropics. The room locks are difficult. The beach bar could be open more hours. Wifi is only available in the reception area which is fine, but it's sweltering hot and could do with a fan or two. I appreciate the Eco-friendliness, but would appreciate access to a source of ice so we could enjoy some beers when the bar is closed. These are all small complaints about an over-all great place.

Review 37:Fantastic location and rooms. Would recommend and return. Seriously worth it.

Review 38:They are in process of transition. There was constant contruction going on. Lots of communication issues. The manager did address the issues in the end, but unfortunately this was after our 5 day stay in Tulum. They are an eco lodge and as such they didnt address the bug issue at all. There are natural remedies, but the insects were just out of control.

Review 39:The location was beautiful and will be improved with more beds at beach and accomodations like food and drinks. The concept is different and I would go back if these issues were addressed.

Review 40:Please be aware that The hotel is under reconstruction untill end of feb 2016. Very noisy. Promised view over treetops was no available. Treetops have grown up. Lousy breakfast. Had a serious discount. Full price is Way to much.

Review 41:Wonderful and fascinating architecture.

Review 42:CONSTRUCTION!!! The hotel should of let all guests know that there would be work being done at that time. It is truly a magical property but having loud sounds from early in the morning till late in the evening doesn't exactly qualify as the dreamy beach vacation. Comfort/Value score will reflect this.

Review 43:The ambiance was wonderful! Felt so good to be unplugged for a few days! Adult treehouse palapas-such a dream! The employees were all very kind and helpful, specifically Huberto, Ezekiel, and Angeles.

Review 44:This was one of the most incredible places we have stayed. In addition to the beautiful, rustic property, the staff was amazing. We absolutely loved Vincent who treated us so well during our stay. We will be coming back very soon.

Review 45:we've stayed in azulik previously and loved it - however, it's now undergoing massive construction leaving very little room for the original concept of an eco-resort. rooms are built with little to no view and the best rooms are the rooftop sea villa ones are very high prices. the sea villa rooms on the ground floor have a great view but every noise in the room above can be heard and the outdoor bath leaks onto the rooftop. the staff were slightly condescending when we raised our concerns that construction noise 16 hours out of a 24 hour day was not acceptable for the price paid. The manager was nowhere to be found and when we were moved from a jungle villa to a seafront villa, we had to then deal with the noise of the neighbors above and their overflowing shower. It's no longer a nice place to stay and truly overpriced.

Review 46:the ocean and beach - but not the beach managed by azulik

Review 47:The rooms are beautiful. The lobby needs some help, it could look a little better. The rooms are also a bit too dark with the current amount of candles. Maybe a lantern can be provided. It was difficult finding my clothing, or getting ready after dark.

Review 48:It was beautiful and peaceful. It was great to disconnect from the world. Rooms were impeccable. Staff was always helpful and on top of things.

Review 49:Construction however with the room we were in we didn't hear it, upper sea view balcony room is a must! Once all the construction is done it's going to be amazing!

Review 50:The room and view was amazing, huge balcony with massive outdoor hanging lounge bed and the outdoor tub was stunning! The walkways felt like you were in the ewok forest from Star Wars very cool, very friendly and very relaxing. Not the greatest beach for swimming but still doable, just a little rocky.

Review 51:Because these rooms are very rustic, and because it unfortunately rained quite a bit during our stay, the roof leaked. We had a lot of rainwater on almost everything except for our bed. They were also constructing new bungalows and there was a lot of noise late into the first night that we were there. Their beach and bar is very small.

Review 52:The cliffside bungalows and the extras on the deck like the hanging beds and outdoor tubs were amazing! The candles, in lieu of electric lights, were very romantic. Falling asleep and waking to the sound of the ocean so close was incredible.

Review 53:When it rained it flooded inside of room. Ruined our shoes. Everything was musty. No shower just a bath. Construction on site was not mentioned on website. Way too expensive for lodging. Bar was subpar. Made bad juices and smoothies that cost $12. Coffee was overpriced and no free refills.

Review 54:Staff was helpful. And friendly.

Review 55:Way too much construction noise near my room and I couldn't sleep. Mosquitoes were already attacking me like crazy so that added on top of the construction made the stay miserable. Also, they use solar powered generators that went out so my fan turned off repeatedly in the middle of the night. There were a lot of issues with my stay. I would not recommend to stay here until they get their act together. This should be a 1 or 2 star hotel and I would not pay over $50 a night to stay here. It's unfortunate because the staff are very friendly and the concept is good.

Review 56:Nice concept - eco friendly

Review 57:The hotel isn't quite finished but it didn't effect our stay. Also, take bug spray, Tulum has mosquitos so you need it and repellent.

Review 58:Very unique concept. Super romantic for the right couple. We loved the rawness of the rooms and the absence of power and feeling of being on the jungle and literally staying on top of the waves rolling in. Get an ocean front room if you can, they're incredible.

Review 59:If I can give you one piece of advice it would be to avoid this place like the plague. The place is a full construction site. With a cloud of dust, full accompaniment of generators and interested work men it is not the place to spend your holiday. We came to Tulum to relax and enjoy the sun, sea and sand. We ended up not wanting to return to the hotel each evening.

Review 60:The day we left.

Review 61:At first glance, everything appears beautiful and serene. However, after looking a little closer you start to notice hidden ugliness and shortcuts. Visible plastic piping, trash, and a noticeable sewage smell at times. Additionally, there was a good amount of construction happening during our stay which not only created a lot of noise but also a lot of construction debris scattered about. While initially, our room was on the other side of resort from the construction, the construction expanded to tearing down the reception area and creating quite a lot of noise. Additionally, the small beach area was located right next to the bulk of the construction requiring us to head to other resorts' beaches anytime we wanted quiet.

Review 62:beautiful location on a cliff overlooking the water. The staff was nice.

Review 63:Waaaay to expensive for what you get. There are no facilities (no restaurant, bad wifi, poor beach) and over priced drinks at the premises so you constantly have to leave the place. We just slept there. Charging 12 USD for a juice when it cost 2 USD in the Pueblo is just too much. We also have work around us when were there so not much relaxation either.

Review 64:The view in the ocean view cabanas was awesome and the staff was very friendly.

Review 65:The beach area was very unloved and not user friendly. The saltwater made it hard to feel clean while bathing. The bar/cafe was expensive and offered very little variety. We were there for 6 days and only saw someone in there twice. Probably says something!

Review 66:We loved the ocean villa, privacy, outdoor bath, candlelit evenings, friendly staff. Definitely make sure you pay a little more for a ocean view room, upstairs even better.

Review 67:The lack of food choices. The bar while interesting did not offer much and the local food selections were thin

Review 68:I LOVED the location and the room and the view. It was perfect!

Review 69:No air conditioning. The property had no electricity (lights) which was fine however there were no fly screens so you had to keep your doors open to cool down but lots of bugs came in which made it uncomfortable.

Review 70:Beautiful location, very friendly and helpful staff. Cabins had potential to be amazing except for no air conditioning which made it uncomfortable.

Review 71:A little expensive. Only 2 small bottles of water provided during my 3 nights stay. The bar is expensive and you should always cover your drink to avoid insects and wood pieces falling above.

Review 72:The magnicifient view from bungalow, nature and decoration of the room

Review 73:Well, if something was negative it was the sound from the construction of the new bungalows, but it's is hard building houses without making noises and it will be great when it is all finished. The second thing is that you should not be afraid of being overheard or overhear your neighbours. The walls are quite thin and most of the time all doors are open so you will hear people walk, talk and make love. We heard our neigbours and they probably heard us as well. But then again, this is a adult only hotel.

Review 74:The Azulik hotel is a true gem! We stayed here for three nights (vacation combined with business trip) and we really enjoyed it. It was really relaxing to have no wifi and only candles to guide us through the night. The view was fantastic and the crew really service minded. We also appreciated the fact that it was ok and normal to have a swim and sunbathe nude at the beach.

Review 75:Rooms too hot without good ventilation. Shower will be desired. Maintenance will be do on working days an not during weekends, example they closed the bar on sunday for maintenance and romos don´t have refrigerators or nobody offer us a solution to drink anything.

Review 76:Rooms view

Review 77:The mosquitos are a pain but part of nature not the hotel. The first floor are equally beautiful but you can hear people upstairs if they walk without caring for the downstairs.

Review 78:My wife and i loved the hotel. The sea villas are amazing. You can see sunset on one side and sunrise on the other. Staff were great with us and very helpful. We loved everything really.

Review 79:Priced as a high-end boutique hotel, the resources deplete when it comes to common areas and staff. In their effort to make rooms "special", they lack of the usual basics such as shower, air conditioning, safe box, interphone for room service or even lights. Limited parking and no valet. The bar is tiny, uncomfortable and sacrificed without a view. The food is all frozen. No common area takes advantage of the great sea-side setting except for a single deck platform with no roof. One night we came back after 11pm and found the room candles had all burned out, when I asked front desk for replacements the clerk answered "I'll see what I can do... next time you could order them sooner"! In summary, it was a *different* experience, perhaps worth trying, but next time I want a hostel I'll pay a fraction of the price.

Review 80:This hotel is a design masterpiece set on a beautiful cliff over the beach. Rooms are beautiful and spacious, with a large terrace and a tub. The views are stunning, but for this you must get an ocean-view unit.

Review 81:Would have appreciated a note advising that they were building new Cabanas and refurbishing old Cabanas. The serene wave noise was broken by the music of Jack Hammers, Sanding Machines, Electric Drills and Hammering every day until 8.00pm!! Not quite what I had paid for. An advise about the Sargasso seaweed would also have been appreciated. This being a natural phenomena.

Review 82:Absolutely a Dream place, In the trees above the ocean, very peaceful and back to Nature. A good place to recharge the batteries

Review 83:The concept of this hotel is a really good idea but the execution was sadly very poor. The rooms in little bungalows could be very charming but some details made it really uncomfortable: there are no mosquito screens on the windows so because there's no air conditioning you have to leave everything open to let air in but mosquitos join the party! And the shower would be nice if it weren't for the salt water instead of fresh water. The coconut used as a shower head is fun for a minute but ends up being just really annoying. My partner and I are usually fine with less comfortable hotels - we're definitely not the 5 star type - but this was not a good experience. It is definitely not worth the price.

Review 84:Beautiful location and wonderful (almost) private beach. Nice concept of hotel in the jungle and very quiet - takes you away from your usual fast-paced life into a slow, easy-going world. Pretty bungalows within walking distance of a great part of town. Lots of really cool restaurants and bars just minutes away. The staff was very nice but clueless about any touristy questions (times of buses, ferries, etc).

Review 85:Unfortunately, there was a lot of non-stop construction at Azulik the days we visited from 7:30am to 8pm. If you want to go to the beach you have to walk quite a bit down to hit sand, the resort just has a staircase to a rocky area. The glass walls and doors were not the best to let the sea breeze in therefore the room was a sauna. I've stayed at other resorts in Tulum and normally they have mesh windows to let the air in. It was really really uncomfortable to be inside the room at night, and extremely hard to fall asleep because of it. On our night spa appointment, the path to the lofted spa room was so dark and difficult to traverse. It would be nice to have some solar powered lights to guide the way. I'm a young person and can only imagine how many older folks would get seriously injured trying to get there. For me, the price of this place was way too expensive for what little amenities you get. There's also no restaurant or ATM so if you need food or money you have to head down a bit towards Mateo's to find that. This past trip was my 8th time to Tulum and this was not a favorite.

Review 86:What I did love was the sea view, the decor and design of the suite, and also the outside bath tub. The front desk and spa staff were very friendly. I also loved that it was adults only and no screaming kids. If there was no construction it would be a very peaceful place.

Review 87:Loads of Mosquitos, especially in the reception. No facilities, so if you were hungry you had to order in and the closest restaurant is quite far. Their breakfasts are over priced and not good either.

Review 88:The location is stunning, right on the water. Rustic luxury.

Review 89:is a hotel without Lightning, without service, without shower (yes, there isnt shower). Terrible! I could stay 3 hours there so i decided To move even losing lot of money with cancelling.

Review 90:Nothing

Review 91:Hot, hot hot. They are explicit there is no ac, but in times of no windthey should provide a ventilator. The shower is salt water, so you will NEVER sleep nice and clean, will always be sticky. The terrance doors are the only that open - no windows - and do not consider the wind flow into the room, thus its just plain HOT. The beach is a waste of time. I hated every night of our stay, but they make you sign a waiver at checkin that says you cannot complain and there is no refund. The days were great because we were not at the hotel, otherwise would have hated them too.. Do not consider the villas not on the cliff, there is zero privacy. IN GENERAL YOU HAVE TO KNOW THAT THE BEACHES IN THE AREA ARE BROWN BECAUSE OF THE SEAWEED PROBLEM AT ALL RIVIERA. NOT WORTH THE TRIP IF YOU ARE A BEACH PERSON.

Review 92:The best part is the terrance on the villas by the cliff. We enjoyed theoutdoor jacuzzi, but then again, its salty, like all the water availableat the venue.

Review 93:That we had to leave!!

Review 94:BEST VACATION WE EVER HAD!!!!!! Everything was so awesome. This is what real dreams are made of. Wonderful to disconnect from phones,t.v, news & power. Having candlelight every night watching the milky way threw our binoculars out on the lanai was spectacular. Falling asleep out there on the swing bed. Waking and seeing the sunrise no interruptions hearing the waves. Laying there wondering if I had died and gone to heaven. The staff was so helpful with everything unbelievable. Smiling and really enjoying what they do. Vacation of a life time and can't wait to go back. Can't wait to book our next trip. I want to share it with everyone but really want to keep it to myself. Place for us to escape reality and just unwind!!!

Review 95:No WIFI in rooms..no intercoms either..so if ur a group traveling staying in different cottages there is no way to connect unless phne catches signal..

Review 96:Beautiful beach..fantastic property.. Good staff..overall an amazing experience

Review 97:They have no air conditioning, and bed time can be too hot on Summer. But apart from that everything was amazing.

Review 98:The view and the ambiance were fantastic.

Review 99:Should get a net or screen for the large doors to allow a little more ventilation at night. Gets very warm under the mosquito canopy - suggestion not a complaint.

Review 100:Loved the economical structure!! It was romantic and the perfect setting for my honeymoon!

Review 101:No cooked breakfast or restaurant. It would have been nice to have food prepared at the hotel.

Review 102:I liked the staff, especially the lady who ran the spa, she was lovely. Great massages. We liked the sea view villa we ended up in. We had booked the jungle room, but it was noisy, not a regular thing I'm sure but it happened to be very disturbing so they kindly moved us.

Review 103:The hotel is in the middle of the jungle (a lot of mosquitos by the way), and it feels abandoned and understaffed. They don't have the infrastructure to keep much food and therefore the breakfast is not much worth and it also takes a lot of time to be served and can delay your sightseeing program. They don't have a proper place to eat, which makes the stay far more expensive.

Review 104:The cabins were ok, with a nice terrace and great view, and the fact of not having electricity was a nice experience. We also had the opportunity to see turtles nesting.

Review 105:Rooms:There is no showers. You have to fill the bath tub every time you want to rinse off. To wash your hair you have to use a coconut. Obviously this procedure takes for ever. I know it sounds really cool and if you are on vacation what's the rush, but as I shower twice a day in a hot region like Quintana Roo, it was a minus for me.The toilet is separated with a door made of wooden sticks. Meaning you can see the other person in the room and if they come close they can see you. Not my thing either.Further: The big windows are beautiful and all but you only have curtains that cover parts of the windows. Hence dependent on the room you got everybody who walks by can see you bathing or whatever it is you are doing in there.Needless to say there is no TV, AC or hair drier in the room. The only thing you got is one power plug to charge cameras and cell phones. That wasn't a problem for us, but it might be for others.Staff:First: I am used to Northern European service and even I perceived the staff as rather rude. The staff was not very helpful and not very friendly and arrogant. We asked for directions. They were given to us but the times they told us were not even close to reality. 10-15 minutes mean 40-60... Asked in Spanish they would answer in English what I perceived as quite rude as one of us was a native speaker.Beach:Last but not least: The beach of the hotel. There were 5 spots in the shadow to lay down to start with. That means only 5 hotel guest get the chance to be in the shadow. Everyone else can choose one of the very few spots in the sun. The furniture looked run down. Also the hotel only has a very small part of that little beach. It's shared with another hotel and a campsite. As soon as you go to the one umbrella the campsite offers a guy jumps out of nowhere and wants to charge you five dollars even if there is nobody at the campsite...

Review 106:The hotel itself is really nice to look at. Typical style for the region and there is basically no walls but windows all the way around the building ensuring lots of daylight. Several small and pretty buildings. The fact that there is no electric light but only candles makes things hard to find in your suitcase at night (no closet, stuff will be in the suitcase) but it is obviously beautiful and very romantic. Further they have a nice ocean view terrace perfect to chill at night.

Review 107:The swamp that you don't hear about in the middle of the resort. It's not too bad, but I think it brings in more mosquitoes.

Review 108:The fact that you were living like swiss family robinson in the trees.

Review 109:Nothing. Loved our entire stay. The staff was not intrusive, they were all helpful, nice, and wished us buenas dias every time we saw them.

Review 110:We stayed 1 week in a sea villa, for our honeymoon. It was heaven. On a hanging bed, overlooking the ocean, sleeping outside. Can't wait to return!

Review 111:Their tiny beach is covered with rocks and seaweed, can't really go in the water. The prices are way too high. Their superior bungalow is not worth more than 100$ per night, with the salty water in the shower, all kinds of bugs everywhere, no fan and no light. The mattress was horrible, could hardly sleep. They only have a tiny bar serving some drinks, looks messy and not fun to sit at.

Review 112:The calming atmosphere.

Review 113:I wish we'd known beforehand that they didn't have showers in the room and that the water coming out of the taps was salt water, which means soap doesn't rinse well and you're left feeling sticky afterward.

Review 114:The vibe of the place is nice, and it has some appealing design features. It's wonderful to be so close to the ocean as well.

Review 115:If I only knew where to begin but since I am giving feedback on the entire stay I will start with the positive. My husband and I took an anniversary trip. It started with the check in, where the lady that checked us was "kind" enough to walk us to our room through the entire resort without even caring once to ask if we needed any assistance with our luggage. Yes, we had to carry our own luggage to the room and up many flights of stairs because apparently nobody was available to help or perhaps never cared to. Getting to the room and seeing the view put us in better spirits right away and the welcome was soon forgotten as we didn't want to dwell on it and be picky. We had a good sleep the first night with a nice ocean breeze coming through the room and lots of tranquility, only to be woken up at 7.00 am the next day with a hammer knocking right above our heads as construction was going on in the hotel. Quite frankly we were aware of the construction as I had read in some of the reviews here but never were we provided with a courtesy notice by the hotel since we were directly next to the cabana that was being newly constructed. I would think that would be the appropriate thing to do, but we ignored that keeping an open mind and assuming it would be all over by the time the day was over. Boy were we wrong, after a day in and out of the hotel we returned to our room at 6.30 p.m where the construction was still full on and now becoming a nuisance. After being very tolerant all day, we decided to approach the front desk to ask if this would be brought to an end, however the answer we received was that the construction was scheduled to continue until 8p.m. and that we would have to wait a little while. Keeping in mind the whole purpose of our trip my husband and I decided to avoid further confrontation, maintain our zen and leave for a couple of hours and return back at 8pm..and so we did, but only to return back at 9.

Review 116:The hotel is set in a beautiful location, Tulum itself is breathtaking but the hotel definitely is situated well. The rooms overlooking the sea are amazing and definitely make it a lot easier to disconnect from the luxuries of the world. However, the stay at Azulik has to be the worst experience of my entire life.

Review 117:My husband booked a night in "Superior Bungalow with sea view", using Booking.com, for my 55.birthday to surprised me. When we arrived, after over two hours driving from Cancun airport, receptionist Vincente Fdo. Mazum offered us free massage for both of us, because they know ours room is rented already to somebody else. We said, we would like to have a room first. Than they showed us a bungalow not what my husband ordered. Instead of single bungalow they gave us a townhouse with three other neighbors. No privacy ! No sea view! We were a really disappointed, and we had to drive back to Cancun and look for hotel to stay. This was a really bad experience for us! We are not recommending booking Azulik with Booking.com. They are not communicating together. Monika

Review 118:very poor welcome, several cockroaches found in the room, not very clean, paid 17 dolars for breakfast - quite alot of money for a breakfast in mexico.

Review 119:love the location of the villas great location by the sea, great beach

Review 120:Nada.

Gracias Diego y Alex!!

Review 122:The private beach area is quite small so if you travel during peak season then I would imagine it's crowded.

Review 123:The staff at Azulik were fantastic. We stayed here for 5 days, the manager and all the staff were was helpful and accomodating to all our needs. The true qualities of staff shine when there is a problem and Donovan went out of his way to assist my partner and I. The rooms are a beautiful set up with ample space and a light airy feeling. The lack of electric lighting was not an issue for us but I would suggest bringing a small torch. Even though they were doing some building works while we were here it didn't disturb the peace and quiet. The new bar is an asset to the property. The massage and facial were the best I've ever had and I would travel to Tulum again just for that!

Review 124:The drinks, food, coffee and massages were all overpriced we thought. The area had some good restaurants but was still about a 10 minute drivein a cab to the main restaurant strip which we unfortunately onlydiscovered on our final night - not recommended for walking or biking togiven limited footpath space and pitch black at night. A few staffmembers came across a little arrogant but all extremely helpfulnonetheless. Wifi only available in the lobby. Construction happening atthe hotel which generally wasn't an issue however jackhammeringduring our (expensive) massage was pretty off-putting!

Review 125:The rooms were amazing! Back to basics but so romantic. Ceramic tiledbaths, candlelit at nigh time, day beds, hammocks, outdoor baths. Uponcheck-in we were upgraded for our first two nights to one of the besttypes of room on the property (set in the cliff over the water). We wereblown away when we entered the room - two days beds (indoor and out), aswing on the balcony, outdoor bath, amazing supply of toiletriesincluding aloe vera and insect repellent, complimentary chocolates and acocktail at the bar. The bar had a good selection of drinks and food andhammocks etc to lay on the beach. We were moved to our original room onthe last night and were initially mistakenly given a ground floor seaview room - we booked an upper floor room and were immediately shiftedagain. This allowed us to see both rooms and I can confidently say bothwere great. Still overwhelming and beautiful for these cheaper rooms (noshower head over the bath but a coconut shell to use instead which wassuper cute). Hidden power socket in the rooms to charge mobile or camerawhich was extremely handy. Bike rental onsite and close 20 minute rideto the ruins, nice beaches and 30 mins to town centre. Loved our stay!

Review 126:Facilities were uncomfortable. No A/C. Of course, they say that it's part of the experience....right!

Review 127:The staff. But typical of Mexican resorts, it's all about separating Yankees from their dollars. I'm sick and tired of Mexico...there are a lot of places with warm weather and mediocre beaches !!!

Review 128:Our comments need to be framed in terms of the fact we live in Australia, one of the highest cost of living countries globally and in the past 12 months we have stayed in over 100 hotels: USD24 for two fruit smoothies in a plastic cup was outrageous however add to that the fact the bill must be paid in MXN at their assigned exchange rate which is about 15% higher than the board rate meant almost USD30. No internet in the rooms - but we were aware of that beforehand. No electricity in the rooms however 10 steps outside our room there was certainly electricity as the jackhammers building new cabanas on the property didn't finish until 5pm on Saturday and recommenced prior to 8am Sunday. Certainly no eco relaxing!! Electricity - nice to have candles and a charger for phone on the wall but it would be an idea to have at least reading lights in the rooms. No TV not a problem but at least let your clients read a book at night. Tap water in the rooms smelt terrible. Massages - Mayan massage for two hours USD300!!! Speaks for itself.

Review 129:Facilities were very clean, good quality linen and towels. Location on the beach was exceptional - thanks to mother nature.

Review 130:We were there for six nights and overall had a very positive experience. There are, however, a number of small details that for some may constitute annoyances. —Having only candle lighting in the rooms is romantic. It's also sometimes inconvenient. (There is a live power outlet in every room for charging portable devices.) —Same for having a bathtub only without a shower. —The concept between having wifi only in the small reception outdoor area is understandable. You're probably not in Tulum to spend hours on-line. But it's still irritating to walking to the reception platform to download mail and sit awkwardly with other guests doing the same. It makes for a bit of a depressing scene in the reception area. —Azulik seems to be redoing some of its facilities and so there was construction noise all day. —The restaurant and bar have higher prices than anyplace that you could walk to in under two minutes. —The on-line reports would have you believe that there is some chance you might walk around without clothing in an adults only paradise. With the number of security guys, construction workers, and random staff always about, we think that that would be very awkward, not that it's something we'd normally be inclined to do anyway.

Review 131:Azulik is fun and romantic. It is a collection of sturdy and elaborate bungalows linked by sandy beach paths and elevated wooden walkways in a low tropical setting. There is a small beach associated with the property and most rooms have lovely views of the ocean. The staff is friendly and efficient. The location on Tulum Beach is perfect for walking or cycling north or south, or for getting to Tulum Pueblo.

Review 132:The water was a bit rough so expect to get knocked around a bit. And there's a ton of seaweed. Not sure if that's seasonal. But in general the beach was tanning and relaxing friendly but not swimer friendly.

Review 133:I needed a get away and that's what I got. A beautiful and tranquil, comfortable stay with awesome staff and friendly fellow guests. Pure paradise.

Review 134:Bath weather is salty water, poor room ventilation, bathtub dranage would get backed up and not drain??? Mosquitos in bedroom...... If you travel bring with you citronella incense to keep the Mosquitos away in your room.

Review 135:The Maya Spa was Awsome my husband & I did a 90 min. couples massage.

Review 136:The place was undergoing construction while we were there, so the rooms' access was through the staff entrance in the back, and there was some construction noise during the day. We would have been very mad about this should we had booked before knowing this, but we went to see the place first and only then made the reservation. The treatments and things like yoga classes and temazcal ceremony are *extremely* overpriced. Also, this place is not for everyone - gets very dark at night and pretty hot without a/c or fan.

Review 137:The place is beautifully designed. We had a room with "partial" sea view, but it was a very good view of the ocean right in front of us. The room shows a lot of attention for details which made for a memorable experience. The staff were great.

Review 138:There was a lot of debris from construction on the days things were being torn down and sawed...but I suppose that's to be expected. Still a great place.

Review 139:How natural and disconnected you can be from technology. bathing was fun :)

Review 140:Lack of privacy and sound proofing between rooms - you can hear everything! Candle light only - impossible to get ready in the evening. No fans or AC - stiflingly hot at night making it hard to sleep. No breakfast included or restaurant onsite.

Review 141:Stunning surroundings, beautiful cabanas.

Review 142:Down to the very last detail, the room and surroundings were beautifully presented. Staff were on hand at all times to provide assistance and the massage I received from Rocío was phenomenal.

Review 143:I stayed in the upper floor of a bungalow on the sea with an amazing view and breeze with the sounds of waves day and night! A great get away from everything!

Review 144:no lights was fun or a bit annoying

Review 145:Lying on the swinging bed on our huge terrace, eye to eye with birds in the tree tops. Watching the pelicans fly by, the moon rise and the sun rise and set 360degrees of sky. feeling close to the sea and the jungle.

The Fine Print

Please note that this is an adults-only resort.
