Reviews for Hip Hotel Tulum

Review 1:we booked for a superior room with garden view at the 1st floor and despite our complains we got a room in front of the parking with no wifi coverage and no windows except the entrance window

Review 2:The only thing positive was the kindness of the staff.

Review 3:Not the hotel's fault but since January most of the Caribbean side beaches have been infested by red algae. Hip hotel did its best to clean it every morning, but it is impossible to keep up. Still can swim in the sea, but no clear waters and white sand beaches are covered with mounds of red algae. Hopefully this will be gone soon. Tulum has the advantage of being next to the ecological reserve that is not affected by this.

Review 4:If you are looking for a nice little place to relax and enjoy the Caribbean this is your place. Hip hotel is part of the Tulum mini-Empire of ana y jose which insures a basic standard of quality: clean beds, breakfast included, hammock outside of every room, showers with sweet water (not salt water), friendly staff. This isn't a resort, though. After all this is Tulum, which tries to be the anti-Cancun. Relaxing is the main purpose of this place.

Review 5:We stayed in a private room that was not on the beachfront. The road is very noisy, and as there is no air conditioning it is very hard to sleep at night given you have to leave all the shutters open for fresh air. Wifi was patchy.

Review 6:Beautiful resort right on the beach, staff were helpful.

Review 7:Beach full of sea weed which was not collected . no hair dryer in room no fridge terrible wifi connection and non existent in bedroom. noisy room , one could hear clients in bedroom next to our bedroom snoring and toilet flush. Walls between rooms do thin. Did not appreciate that no effort was made at all to allow us keep room one hour after midday on day of departure despite the fact that our flight was not leaving until late at night.no effort at all was made which was unkind.

Review 8:Breakfast staff very nice although breakfast was simple.

Review 9:The wifi is awful! We could never connect in our room or on the beach so had to walk to reception to use wifi.

Review 10:Really nice place to stay and well situated, a short walk from some of the best bars and restaurants. Showers always hot, staff were nice, good breakfast selection. We had a king size room on 1st floor with garden view and it was huge. I would stay there again.

Review 11:Very basic accommodation for the price. Construction on our bungalow during stay without notice poor hotel response. Property can be noisy due to combination of construction and generators.

Review 12:Beach front, fish tacos

Review 13:Room 33 is a storage closet, not a suitable guest room. If you book this hotel be clear that room 33 will not work for you!

Review 14:Staff was genuinely apologetic, but had no other room to move us to until the last night of our 3 night stay. They did not have the authority to move us to another property owned by the same company. They did comp us 2 30-minute massages. We paid full price for a Mayan hut with no porch/balcony/terrace, a door you had to duck to get into, louvered windows with a “view” of the foundation of the much nicer rooms/building next door, but you had to duck down to see out, and you also had to duck down to see in the mirror. This room should have been a storage closet, not a guest room! Shame on management! The room we were moved to for the last night was lovely despite being next to the kitchen. It has a great view of the sea, was spacious with large windows and a balcony.

Review 15:There is a big issue with road noise....to be fair this will be common in most Tulum hotels if you don't have a beach front room as the strip of land between beach and road is not very big Our first room overlooked the hotels car park after booking a garden view, To be fair the hotel moved us to a room which did have more of a garden view but unfortunately was now next to reception hence very noisey. Deliveries started from 6 am plus taxis dropping off late motorbikes turning or night staff leaving and starting their own bikes all added to a general pattern of being woken 2 to 3 times a night. Not a major drama but for the money we paid I expected more. After moving us once the hotel offered no further discount.

Review 16:Really comfortable room Clean Very helpful staff Lovely breakfast and juice bar Waiter service to the beach all day!

Review 17:Access to free wifi was not convenient.

Review 18:Everything about this place was great! The location, beach, staff & facilities were top notch for a quiet & relaxing, romantic get away!

Review 19:No fridge. There is no door between the toilet and the bedroom. No wifi connection in the room. Very expensive (but it seems to be the standard in Tulum). They claim the breakfast is included, but you are basically offered just a cup of coffee. Anything else must be paid.

Review 20:Very peaceful, with comfortable rooms by a wonderful beach.

Review 21:Wifi could be a bit better but to be honest it's slow throughout all Tulum

Review 22:The best thing of our stay was the staff. They are always very nice, extremely helpful and very quick. Cinthia who is at reception is brilliant and the staff at the restaurant have always nice words and a wonderful smile in their face. That really made our holidays fabulous and we will come back for sure!!

Review 23:We stayed little over a week so the restaurants menu got a little boring..

Review 24:Great size, not to big. Close to good restaurants. Very helpful staff. Beautiful location!

Review 25:Overall, tulum is expensive and this resort is on average, expensive but not crazy Wifi can be improved

Review 26:Everything was good, room, restaurant, breakfast, staff, comfort in the beach, structure

Review 27:Noisy room

Review 28:Food, service, location, bed

Review 29:Hotel expensive for what it is

Review 30:Staff friendly

Review 31:The staff were great, The food was very good and reasonably priced compared to some other places on the beach. Rooms were clean and well presented.

Review 32:Breakfast included? A joke - coffee and toast. Ordered a cooked breakfast and it was terrible.

Review 33:Walk out of room and onto the beach.

Review 34:WiFi was poor, took 1 hour to download 11MB, Restaurant ok

Review 35:Amazing location, great staff, much more than expected from room - great view

Review 36:Choice of meals in the restaurant was limited

Review 37:location, right on the beach, was excellent.

Review 38:Nothing!

Review 39:Great place with a great staff. Very accommodating when i had for gotten my pin at check in. It was our third time in Tulum and this was the best place we've stayed. We we're there for our Honeymoon and plan on going back next year for our anniversary. And the food is fantastic! Room service on the beach.

Review 40:No refrigerator in the room at a price of over 300$ a night

Review 41:Beautful beach, helpfull staff, need to have room whith ocean view, rooms with garden room to near the street, less windy. No aircon gives you the feeling of the Caribic

Review 42:Hotel has an odd layout where some 'beach view' rooms haveobstructed views or are close to the restaurant. (Which is not great andwas consistently empty during the busiest time of the year in Tulum, nye2012) The included breakfast is pretty meager and there's littlechoice. Far better places in Tulum, so choose wisely as we were forcedto stay here due to no accommodations elsewhere.ALSO ADDRESS IS WRONG HERE ON BOOKING.COM LOOK ON HIP HOTEL WEBSITE FOR CORRECT ADDRESS.

Review 43:Location, location, location

Review 44:They only give you one key for the room.

Review 45:Love the location and the staff is very friendly! Very low key, which I like.

Review 46:It was great no complaints

Review 47:Nice hotel and location
