Reviews for The Colonnade Hotel
Review 1:Prior guests' leftovers were in the fridge. Bathroom was cramped - shower curtain brushing against toilet, and falling off the curtain rod. toilets were ultra-low - hard on the knees Either Booking.com or the Colonnade made a possibly sexist error with our reservation. I made the reservation, with my husband listed as guest. All communications from the hotel were sent to my email but addressed to my husband.
Review 2:Convenience to the BU/Huntington theatre. Convenience for dining at Brasserie Jo. Comfortable bed Luxuriously thick towels friendly staff
Review 3:We had some flight issues so we arrived two days later than originally planned. We called both The Colonnade and Booking.com but somehow there was still a misunderstanding an we were marked as "no show" when we arrived at the hotel. We did get a room though but it took some time to figure everything out and that situation was uncomfortable.
Review 4:The staff was very friendly and helpful. The location of the hotel is very good and close to the downtown area. Public transits are also very close by and it's easy to get around.
Review 5:I was there as my son was in hospital for over a week. They were flexible and helpful throughout, and changed the room so he could stay with me the night he was discharged. They also kept me at the lowest rate.
Review 6:Our breakfast order was detained as we did not receive what we ordered and had to return it twice
Review 7:The comfort of the room The wonderfull and experienced staff The great location
Review 8:It was a little dirty behind the bedside table when I moved it to plug in the adaptor for my mobile but I think that's normal.
Review 9:I went there with my 16 year old son. It was his first time ever in the States. We both loved it! I knew the good reputation of the Colonnade hotel from Icelandair.
Review 10:Excellent staff, from the moment you are greeted at the door--especially the greetings from the doormen! Very comfortable hotel, rooms are quiet with room to relax and recharge.
Review 11:This time, our room, believe it was #607, was little more noisy than I can remember. People in adjoining room ( met in hallway) were nice but could hear all sounds at locked, walk thru door. Not good for us at 12:30AM. Could actually hear them sneezing!! Mentioned to Manager in the AM. For price of room, should not happen.
Review 12:Location, hotel size, staff, friendly and courteous people. Have been staying periodically at the Colonnade for over 30 years. Our favorite place when in Boston. Will always stay there. Like restaurant and bar very much.
Review 13:The unhelpful and abrupt manner of the night front desk attendant (of Russian extraction) when explaining rudely the car parking arrangements.
Review 14:Location of the hotel, the very helpful Concierge, thoughtfulness of the chambermaids and friendliness of the staff in the bar.
Review 15:The decoration could use a little bit of an update, e.g. the carpet
Review 16:Great service and the staff is excellent. The hotel is located at the right spot in Boston, close to everything you need.
Review 17:Room was very clean apart from rings on the table. Glass served with dinner had a chip on the rim.
Review 18:Large comfortable rooms and good in-room facilities. Room service meals seemed good value and tasty.
Review 19:air con. so noisy, it had to be turne off to get us some sleep lack of a coffee shop or a second, less than full on restaurant our room looked out on another building from a distance of less than 50 feet
Review 20:location
Review 21:This is a quality hotel in a great position. It is also at a T stop so you can get back from all over the area. Comfortable, well appointed rooms with good view if you are at the back of the hotel. Friendly staff who give very useful information.
Review 22:1) on arrival after a tiring trip, we were greeted by a grumpy hotel porter 2) when we went to the reception counter, we were told "there is no room available" 3) when we finally have a room, it was skimpy for 2 persons; and we were a family of 4; we therefore asked for a suite and told nothing available; we had to get a second room which was not in our plan; it seems booking.com clients not well received in this hotel; a lesson learned
Review 23:Location is excellent
Review 24:Room was a connecting room and was noisy next door. Had requested quiet room.
Review 25:Very friendly helpful staff. Good facilities. Hilary, the concierge was wonderful.
Review 26:Our room was clean and the beds were very comfortable. The T stops in front of the hotel which makes it very easy to get around the city. Staff is friendly and attentive. Many good restaurants and shopping nearby.
Review 27:only thing about the pool I noticed is that people do not put back their towels, which ends up in their holding a chair, that is possibly available.
Review 28:Rooftop pool was great!
Review 29:Noisy. Avoid street facing rooms and rooms with connecting doors - sound-proofing from both the exterior and adjoining rooms is dreadful
Review 30:Good Back Bay location
Review 31:It was a very enjoyable stay and would recommend the hotel to all.Very central for shopping and sight seeing, having a T station directly across the road at the Prudential centre .
Review 32:I love the hotel but my room needed maintenance and some lights didn't work etc. Would help if the would give the rooms a little facelift. Just a little fix would made the prices really acceptable.
Review 33:The hotel is just perfectly located and the rooftop pool made our stay just a little more perfect. Love this place
Review 34:When we first arrived we were given a room right next to the elevators, so there was quite loud noise coming from it all the time. We could not sleep properly and next morning changed rooms.
Review 35:Location is very good, very central. Staff was excellent - very helpful and professional. There was no buffet breakfast - had to choose from the menu, so not so much choice but still ok. Room was clean and comfortable.
Review 36:The air conditioner in the room was very noisy even at minimum speed. Difficult to sleep in the night and work during the day.
Review 37:Location is very good and closer to metro line.
Review 38:Made pool open to public. Made pool congested and difficult to find seating. Booked a private party on pool deck on of the three days we were there making pool inaccessible.
Review 39:Great location
Review 40:Light was out in room, desk chair was broken, room service tray was not collected in a timely manner and sat outside for ~18 hours (saw other cases of this in the hall too).
Review 41:Nice rooftop pool and comfortable bed.
Review 42:Hallway to room could have been lit better -- somewhat dim. The restaurant was pricey for breakfast.
Review 43:The room was nice with very large windows. We had a great view of the Prudential center. When I reserved room I didn't realize that the Prudential shopping area was right across the street. Also, the Prudential T stop was right outside the front lobby. All the staff we encountered were very friendly and helpful
Review 44:It was very expensive and on top of the rate it cost $66 to park my car at hotel for one night
Review 45:The location is great and the rooms are very comfortable
Review 46:Little impersonal
Review 47:located in the middle of everything - shops, restaurants, sightseeing etc. we loved to relax on the pool area after explore the city. Not unique, not with special character, but perfect for some nights for sightseeing - it has everything you need.
Review 48:though with a great view, the rooftop pool is very tiny, really just for soaking with a beer, fitness center has very low ceilings, lounge interior decoration is really uninspired for a place that markets as trendy
Review 49:spacious room, comfortable bed, good water pressure, great climate control, friendly staff
Review 50:Again, was disappointed with the pool. It's tiny and overrun with locals (rather than hotel residents). People show up and fill the chairs by 9am! And they take up a bunch of deck space with ridiculous tented VIP areas, like at a nightclub with a $200 minimum spend.(Empty the whole week I was there.) The whole thing makes Boston seem sad and amateurish.
Review 51:Good service. The rooftop pool was a bonus, but overcrowded, as they let non-residents use the pool. Was impossible to get a lounge chair with all of the locals using the pool.
Review 52:I stayed in the hotel 17 days. The room was small for us standarts . ifyou care ask reception to change the room as they have better rooms.Sound insulation between rooms is poor so you can hear what ever happensin next room, which may be very uncomfortable for you. Housekeeping doesnot change the bed untill you push them to do and they don't havesleepers in the room. Espacially the daily cleanup in bathroom is notgood. 48 usd daily car parking fee is too expensive for hotel guests.
Review 53:Super location & free wifi service in room
Review 54:The room was a little small for all our baby gear. The restaurant Brasserie Jo has a very slow service (we ate there once for lunch and once for breakfast). Food is good but it took forever to get it.
Review 55:The staff is amazing. Concierge, front desk and bell boy are stellar.
Review 56:I thought that the people working at reception could have been a little friendlier.
Review 57:The doormen, concierge and the rest of the staff were amazing. Comfortable, clean room and amazing rooftop pool.
Review 58:It would have been helpful to have a laundry facility for guest to use themselves. Also, we would have appreciated a microwave and/or toaster in the room. We thought the charge for the business centre was a little high.
Review 59:The staff were wonderful, the rooms were very comfortable and the location was great.
Review 60:The cost was very high for very poor service from the front desk and maintenance. The alarm clock could not be set to the correct time and after requestig maintenance they did not come to set the clock. When one of the bathroom lights went out they came two days later to repair and still did not correct the clock which did not have the correct time from the first day through the last day.
Review 61:The aesthetics were nice
Review 62:The service at the rooftop bar could be improved. We were left waiting a long time for our food.
Review 63:The rooms are modern, clean, stylish and comfortable, great breakfast, the location very convenient, and the rooftop pool is the icing on the cake...
Review 64:Pool was too small and crowded and could never get a chair to relax. Bathroom shower was not very clean. Parking garage automated pay machine did not work and had to walk back to the front desk. Requested a nice view and was placed looking out the back at run down building, would have preferred to view Huntington ave side of building. The air conditioner was loud and running all night.
Review 65:Room décor was nice, location was great, staff were friendly and the bed was very comfortable.
Review 66:We had an issue with the ventilation system in our bathroom. There isn't a fan, which is fine, but the vent in the space appeared to be doing nothing at all to help with steam from the shower (among other things). It made the bathroom a particularly uncomfortable room to be in. Also, the housekeeping staff didn't understand what we meant when we reported the issue on our 2nd day there, and they weren't meticulous with their cleaning process (someone's hair was left on the floor in the bathroom - and it wasn't mine or my husband's; glasses we used were removed from the room and not replaced; small bits of trash from our trashcan was left on the floor in the hallway outside our room door...), which was disappointing.
Review 67:Loved the location, the style of the hotel, the rooftop pool, and the comfortable room/bed.
Review 68:A very minor point, but the staff cleaning the room were a bit random with tea bags - so sometimes we'd have to phone for some to be brought because they'd only left coffee bags.
Review 69:The rooftop bar/pool area - we were served by Kallie much of the time and she was great Brasserie Jo's food (breakfast and dinner) was excellent
Review 70:I don't think there are something that we don't like, overall very good. The air conditioner was a little bit loud, but it would stop once it got the temperature that you set. But that's not a problem for us.
Review 71:The location is perfect, subway station is super close, there is a big shopping mall 300 meters away. Very helpful and friendly staffs. Wifi was very fast.
Review 72:Had to show my confirmation number from the email I received because they could not find me in the system but the issue was resolved.
Review 73:The best water pressure I've ever had anywhere!
Review 74:I wish there was the option of a breakfast buffet. The a la carte breakfast was quite pricey and not that good.
Review 75:Very comfortable room with a nice view. Close to many restaurants, shops and subway station.
Review 76:At arrival you have to get out of the car and unload it quickly to avoid being ticketed according to staff.
Review 77:Excellent location centrally in the Back Bay area. Very easy access to parking garage. Very good room standard. The French restaurant was very good.
Review 78:Easy to walk everywhere. Staff friendly and helpful. Rooms very comfortable, not stuffy. Charles River only 0.5 miles away, easy to get a run/walk in.
Review 79:Adjoining rooms was a little noisy.
Review 80:Staff was tremendous and very accommodating. Restaurant in the hotel was perfect. Food and drinks were delicious.
Review 81:Check in was not as smooth as it should hsve been Front desk should have been more prepared for questions that shouldn't have been an issue ie my reservations name ect
Review 82:Room service
Review 83:there was to much noice from the hallway when people where talking while they where going to there rooms. 2 times we where woken up in the night because of that.
Review 84:Staff was very nice,
Review 85:In a street of good quality chain hotels, The Colonnade provides a more bespoke, high quality experience for half the price. The room was huge, beds were incredibly comfortable, bathroom was beautiful, clean and fully stocked with everything you would need. The staff were polite, professional and helpful. The location is great for bars and shops and is right by the T. I would stay here again without question on my next trip to Boston.
Review 86:It lacks a nice lounge where people can meet, sit down and relax. Even though the restaurant has a bar, it it noisy and has no comfortable chairs or sofas.
Review 87:I had a large room with a large king size bed. Both the room and the hotel it self was clean and the staff was very accomdating.
Review 88:Pricey with no breakfast included but Boston is expensive for hotels. No indoor pool/spa for high end hotel. But honestly thats only being picky as not much wrong with hotel
Review 89:Room size. Modern comforts in room. Best sleep ever had in hotel. Location is key with everything on doorstep. Logan express bus for $5 with drop outside hotel door a bonus.
Review 90:it is a great location with all the comforts you would want in a hotel. Excellent stay. Staff were terrific. Will definitely return next visit to Boston area.
Review 91:Paying more tha 1.200 $ for 3 nights it is ridiculous that the WIFI costs an extra fee of 13.50 $ per day. We did not use the hotel WIFI as almost every coffee shop around offers free WIFI.
Review 92:Good location, we did all our sightseeing (the complete freedom trail as well as Cambridge) by walking (that´s probably not representative as we are good walkers). A lot of nice restaurants close to the hotel. Subway station Prudential right in front of the hotel, so you can do your airport transfer easily by subway. Room was clean and offered all you need.
Review 93:The airco was a little noisy!
Review 94:The T is right outside the Hotel so easy to get around. Also only a 20 minute walk to museums and across the road is Prudential for shopping. We walked through to get to Boylston and Newbury streets for more shops and great restaurants.
Review 95:The room wasn't great , although was a standard one. We were right next to the elevators so not ideal for peace and quiet
Review 96:Location was superb as were all the staff.
Review 97:We had the booking company verify we could have a early check-in. When arriving about two hours past when we were to be expected our room was not available. We were told we would get a text message when it was available but never received one. In addition, I believe the price paid for a cup of hot chocolate was well overpriced.
Review 98:We waited for 1 hour and half to check in, and they lost our bags for 15 min!(we gave them to keep for us when we were waiting for the room to be ready) It was understandable that the hotel was busy during the holiday weekend, but we deserve a better explanation and warmer apologize. The room was 65 degree when we first went in, and there was no heat! Didn't get good explanation until we reached the manager. Anyway, the staffs there were kind of cold, the one who brought as heater in the room kept his poker face, the one got our bags torn the tags rudely. The first day was very disappointing. Everything just turned messy during their busy time. A hotel like that should have better management!
Review 99:The room was nice, the location was very convenient. I do appreciate the manager gave us half the rate of the first day and free wifi access after our complain.
Review 100:Hotel has a boutique quality that is both welcoming and professional. Decor is excellent in taste and quality. Stylish, but not oppressive. Staff is warm and welcoming. Restaurant is excellent. I give this hotel high marks.
Review 101:I didn't like that the pool was open to the public
Review 102:Server Named Cali at rooftop pool and bar was excellent! She was friendly, attenative and professional.
Review 103:I really liked the central location and the roof top pool was a fantastic bonus after a day's sightseeing. Great place for views and sunsets. Our room was clean, comfortable, stylish and with good views.
Review 104:Bathrooms are on the small side, but very nice.
Review 105:Staff is very friendly and helpful. Rooms are contemporary and comfortable. Beds are very comfortable -- great reading lights! Rooftop pool is lovely; health club is great. Brasserie Jo is terrific.
Review 106:Pool was more like a pool party for the glamorous set and was a consequently a bit uncomfortable for family swimming.
Review 107:Good location. Smart, clean. Rooms lovely. Pool was great.
Review 108:WiFi should really be free these days.
Review 109:Rooftop pool is great on a sunny day for breakfast or lunch. Good location too, just a couple minutes walk from Boylston.
Review 110:Good restaurant, convenient parking, attentive staff.
Review 111:The price of the parking
Review 112:The doormen were very helpful.
Review 113:Clean and comfortable, great location
Review 114:I was given one rate through the online reservation, then was charged more when I registered...
Review 115:No valet and 50 bucks a night for your is weak, we will stay at Marriott or Hilton in the future.
Review 116:Expensive breakfast, reception staff not friendly
Review 117:Location, clean, comfortable
Review 118:Modern and very comfortable hotel - great beds, nice restaurant/bar, friendly staff, great location
Review 119:durty hallway
Review 120:location and different from here i normally stay - like to stay different places
Review 121:Price quality relation
Review 122:Location
Review 123:when I booked the hotel didn't realise that the price didn't include tax - that was in small writing
Review 124:Location and how comfortable the room was
Review 125:Service at the roof top bar
Review 126:They knock on the door very early in the morning. You get noise from the corridor all night
Review 127:Comfortable room
Review 128:love the pool. the food is great the location is close to everything
Review 129:Room not very clean, hair on pillows and around bathroom
Review 130:Excellent location
