Reviews for Casa de Estoi

Review 1:A delightful house and a lovely welcome. We stayed in the suite which was very spacious and comfortable. Breakfast was very nice and although there is no restaurant we were directed to a very good local place only a few minutes walk away.

Review 2:The pillows were too soft and lumpy and the mattress quite hard. Breakfast was average and the water in the jugs for coffee and tea were luke warm but Caterina brought more when asked.

Review 3:The Casa has beautiful decor and furniture and we had a room at the back which was very quiet. Caterina is a credit to the Casa and helpful in every way.

Review 4:Only one thing, l wasnt happy with, the bed was to hard.

Review 5:We liked it all, cathrin was excellant as a host, couldnt fault it, a lovely home, a privaliage to stay there. Lovely village.

Review 6:Excellent staying the hills above Faro and nestling under the Palacio pousada. I had the suite now the Tulip suite.amazingly good value 2 bdroom 2 bathrooms door directly onto pool and was cosetted by Monsieur Jorge and Katherina from the moment my plane was delayed until I left Casa Estoi. A taste of how the weaalthy Portuguese live eat and enjoy

Review 7:Old stylish interiors and antique furniture Historical atmosphere of family owned house Swinnnig pool Great tasty breakfasts Hospitality management Centre location

Review 8:Every swimming pool in Portugal was colder than I like - it seems they just rely on natural heating. Streets were noisy at night - seems there was some sort of Horse(?) party going on.

Review 9:The receptionist/housekeeper/really managing everything day to day was beyond excellent. The cafe across the road worked well for cheap meals for the kids (and us). Location gave easy access to motorway which allowed us to fairly quickly access other parts of the Algarve - but there is not much of anything around Estoi itself.

Review 10:Try to get a room at the back of the house. We were only staying for one night so, quite rightly we were housed at the front. Some traffic noise in the morning, not a problem for us as we were leaving early.

Review 11:Fantastic welcome, lovely building and beautifully presented. A unique place right by the village square and the church. Lovely breakfast and a neat little secluded pool.

Review 12:The double bed was on the small size

Review 13:The welcome was very friendly and the proprietors could not have been more helpful. The property was immaculately clean and the room was air conditioned. Breakfast was very impressive.

Review 14:Nothing to not like

Review 15:Everything - the service (Caterina was so helpful, nothing too much trouble), we were upgraded to a suite (lovely!) and food, bar, pool were excellent.

Review 16:Katerina was the nicest hotel host we have ever met; after arriving at 23:00hrs she kindly telephoned local places to help find very much needed food!

Review 17:Stay felt too short!

Review 18:Staff, relative tranquillity, central to the town, excellent breakfast, felt really at ease and comfortable. The pool, full size snooker table.

Review 19:We had noise from a village party, but that was only a once a year one.

Review 20:It was a pleasure to stay in a lovely old house with antique furniture, and right on the square too.private steps down to the pool and a large private terrace.

Review 21:No dislikes for this property

Review 22:The town is small and quant and the people are extremely helpful and friendly. Our room had a private balcony and we were able to enjoy our evenings outside. We loved it so much we stayed an extra day.

Review 23:Great service and a real find in the otherwise quiet area, I was fascinated with the artefacts inside the hotel. I was there unexpectedly and all the staff were very very helpful and nice. Thank you.

Review 24:A bit of noise in the room because of the church and street in front of the hotel.

Review 25:Very good place to stay worth to spend your money. Cool to learn something about village life in Portugal.

Review 26:My fault completely but I forgot to get water for the room

Review 27:An amazing building and lovely warm staff. If you want nightlife, hotel style travel this isn't for you. If you want personal service, don't mind if you only get wi fi in the hall, staff who care, great building and to get away from all those people who moan about everything .. Try it you will not be disappointed

Review 28:No tea making facilities in room

Review 29:We loved the peace and quiet of the house, except for the loud church bells on Sunday morning!!! The pool area was great.

Review 30:Over priced, paid 130 euro but worth 100 euro tops. Road noise by pool. No drinks in room (kettle but no facilities).

Review 31:Relaxed atmosphere. Great resteraunt 7 minutes walk from hotel.

Review 32:Absolutely everything

Review 33:Everything! This boutique hotel is first rate and started our week's holiday in the Algarve off on the very best note.

Review 34:Loud church bells

Review 35:Excellent welcome by the staff. Also very helpful with restaurant recommendations. Very good breakfast.

Review 36:Extremely helpful staff, great location, authentic and beautifully decorated!

Review 37:Will definitely come again

Review 38:A beautiful old house with a lovely courtyard pool area. Staff are warm and welcoming. Breakfast plentiful and delicious.

Review 39:Beatutiful Casa and the most excellent host.

Review 40:our room was by the road but next time we will ask for a quieter room

Review 41:Can't fault it at all really!

Review 42:Everything. Catarina the manageress. Nothing was to much trouble.

Review 43:The outside appearance made us all wonder what to expect but don't be put off

Review 44:This is really Portugal

Review 45:Staff were fantastic and very helpful

Review 46:The sheets were quite stiff!

Review 47:Lovely staff and loved the honest bar- a great idea!

Review 48:nothing, the WiFi is sorted too now.

Review 49:perfectly relaxing comfortable hotel.

Review 50:Received a very warm welcome. We were offered complimentary wine on arrival. The rooms are bright and clean. Excellent breakfast

Review 51:Beautifully decorated, clean rooms and very friendly staff who couldn't help enough. Great setting opposite a church in a very charming town.

Review 52:Approach of the staff was one of the best which I know. Excellent breakfast. Nice interier.

Review 53:Beds quite hard, old tv's

Review 54:Beautiful, great quality, clean and interesting.

Review 55:Excellent wi-fi, the ambiance. The room was elegant and comfortable. The manager was very welcoming and pleasant. Very good breakfast.

Review 56:the house is comfortabel and cosy, felt at home right away. Very friendly and helpfull staff.

Review 57:Quirkiness of furnitur, decor. Pleasantness of the lady who runs it.

Review 58:Very limited choice of good eating places in the village

Review 59:very helpful staff. Perfect and clean in everything.

Review 60:Calm atmosphere Good breakfast Relatively close to Faro airport, so good for a first/last stop after/before flying.

Review 61:Nothing

Review 62:Very clean and centrally located B&B hotel. Stairs could be a problem for some less agile. Good breakfast. Staff very obliging washed my shorts after stained from BBQ. Highly recommended beautiful house with period furniture and clean pool. Rooms with a balcony best. Car park near by about 100 yds.

Review 63:Could not work a/c and then was unable to find anybody to ask. Portable fan safety cover fell off shortly after tunring it on. Expensive, compared to modern peers.

Review 64:The room had a large amount of space and was clean and unusual. Breakfast was plentful and of a high standard. Traditional (Old fashioned)

Review 65:all of it

Review 66:We went for our anniversary and couldnt have picked anywhere better suited to us. Our room was excellent. Food v good and the most hospitable owner made our stay perfect. Hotel full of beautiful antiques. quaint village. We will return

Review 67:Unable to access Wi-Fi although given the code, etc. Would have enjoyed more history about the house, village & area. No one in attendance after care taker departed for the evening.

Review 68:The care taker was extremely friendly & welcoming! The house itself was quaint and relatively well-maintained & clean with large guest rooms. Comfortable beds. Quiet. Breakfast was adequate. Street parking easy. Price was very good.

Review 69:The location is extremely rural and there isn't much to do in the area. The hotel is a bit tatty and could do with a bit of TLC, our bath had the surface flaking off. The bedding was very strange though and it did look like bare duvet.

Review 70:I'm sure it would be lovely in summer as the pool looked great and the rooms had terraces that opened onto the pool. Unfortunately we visited in November but the room did have heating which was a real benefit though. The hotel is very grand, if a bit antiquated, but if you like retro charm then it could be brilliant.

Review 71:Problems with parking One single staff without knowledge of the Portuguese language and no knowledge of locality

Review 72:A charming guest house with a familiar athmosphere. Exellent WiFi connection Central location

Review 73:The breakfast was poor and repetitive. In general, I found it expensivefor the position and the service offered.

Review 74:The inside of the house is quite charming. We found a little restorantat few meters from the hotel where you could eat traditional dishes atvery low price - Best part of Estoi! Tavira beaches are great, but ittakes 30 minutes by car, even though is a nice ride..no traffic at all.Nice to take picture in the hotel with the old fornitures.

Review 75:Limited restaurant Choice in village for evening meals ate at Thepousada which I have used before but always find them lacking in foodand service

Review 76:Quiet unspoiled village local purchases very inexpensive

Review 77:Avoid the rooms directly on the streets. It could be a bit noisy.

Review 78:The staff have been really nice and dedicated. We appreciated the swimming pool and the breakfast. Walking the little village, and have a talk with the local people which were very friendly.

Review 79:Internet was non-existent in the bedroom, spotty in the common areas. It's on the only busy street in town. We stayed one night facingaway from the church, overlooking the pool/courtyard and that wasnice. The next night was facing the church and it was loud all night andthe big wooden doors to the room kept clanging, keeping us awake untilwe put something against it to keep it still. Beds weren't great.

Review 80:The little town is not touristy at all. Just what I was looking for - alittle Portugese town with real people living their lives. Only 10minutes from Faro (which I did not like at all - a city). I was lookingfor little "real" villages and this was it.

Review 81:The problem is that the city does not offer much to see or to do. There are no restaurants and basically nothing to do. If your goal is to stay there and relax, this hotel is the perfect choice.

Review 82:The house is fantastic: furniture, rooms, swimming pool, everything.

Review 83:We weren't expected and our room wasn't quite ready. The hotel said they hadn't received any communication from Booking.com. Fortunately they still had rooms!

Review 84:Friendly staff, great breakfast, nice rooms, wonderful communal areas.

Review 85:Staff very freindly & helpful very good breakfast, comfortable room with sitting area it is a very special place and compared to trying to get any service at the posada wonderful

Review 86:Nothing!

Review 87:Beautiful building, fantastic breakfast with homemade pastries and sort-of-pancakes (don't know their name), clean, good low-key service. A delight.

Review 88:The town is ok, but in our opinion a car is needed in order to find a good restaurant. We found one about a 10 minute drive away.

Review 89:The staff were exceptionally friendly and the hotel very clean and well maintained, with a touch of luxury. Breakfast was very good. The pool was beautiful even though at this time of year we could only look at it!!

Review 90:We reserved two rooms at the last minute, just hours before arrivinh, and were received very well. Very friendly and helpfull staff, and a wonderful breakfast

Review 91:Not adequate level of Hot water during our 2 day stay. We were told to run for 15-20 mins still too cold. Initial access was a problem as we had to request the help of local to gain entry.

Review 92:Nice portugese village atmosphere and the sharing of breakfast with the other guests around one large table.

Review 93:Difficult to find. Eye level road signs would help.

Review 94:A very interesting building with loads of character and antique furniture. Bedroom comfortable but unfortunately the poor weather precluded the enjoyment of our balcony and the garden. Excellent breakfast. Free WiFi with no hassle.

Review 95:There were no drinks in the room, tea, coffee or water. My parents room was quite expensive for what it was.

Review 96:It was an individual unusual hotel they gave our family a 2 bedroom apartment when we only booked and paid for a 1 bedroom apartment which was brilliant. They served breakfast early for us as we were going to catch a flight and the breakfast was good.

Review 97:The owner Hortence was a most wonderful, helpfu, congenial hostess. The location is beautiful. A small village rich in heritage and a real Portugese feel about it. Estoi is close to Faro so has easy access by bus or taxi to the beaches and town. The house is full of beautiful antiques and it feels like you are an honored guest in an old Portugues family home. A wonderful most memorable stay. Suzie and Willy (Graeme) from Australia.

Review 98:We enjoyed a beautiful sun terrace, the staff were wonderful and could not help enough. you will need a car if you want anything more than a couple of cafe's and two restaurants, we did not take this as a negative, a very relaxing holiday. the town is very small but lovely, we travelled a few days and captured the algarve the restaurants and drinks are very well priced, altogether we had a wonderful time.

Review 99:Ideally tea making facilities in the bedroom would be nice

Review 100:lovely small hotel in the middle of Estoi. The pool in the courtyard was ideal for a refreshing dip after a days sightseeing. Breakfast was very good with freshly squeezed orange juice and scrambled eggs & bacon. Comfy bed & the extras in the bathroom were very welcome.

Review 101:There was nothing.

Review 102:Everything! The attention to detail. The friendliness of the family running the establishment. The breakfast. The value for money. No expense had been spared in the refurbishment (April 2012) of the establishment. B & B just don't get any better. We will stay again on our next trip to the Algarve.

Review 103:It is not, as suggested by the description, located close to nature butinstead in the heart of a small (but not that small) village.

Review 104:It is a really comfortable and high-quality place.

Review 105:We really enjoyed our stay in this lovely hotel. The personal was very kind and helpfull. We even got some very nice tips and a small guide for portugal. (special thanks to Manuela). Overall great place to be.

Review 106:We wish that they provided meals on site.

Review 107:The staff were lovely and friendly and went out of their way to make ourstay comfortable and that we had everything we wanted and needed.

Review 108:When we arrived, the frontdoor was locked. There was a phone# to callwhich I must admit was rather inconvenient as it's extremely expensiveto call foreign phone numbers when in a foreign country & they can'texpect everyone to bring a cellphone. The only person working there wasa super sweet girl although unfortunately she only spoke Portugese so itwas impossible to communicate with her. The pool was tiny. They only hadsix bedrooms at this hotel but I was thankful we were the only onesthere as the pool didn't have room for more than two people.

Review 109:The breakfast was pretty good with freshly squeezed orange juicealthough the bread was horribly stale & not worth eating. There was alsoa pool which is always a bonus in warm weather.

Review 110:very special place. Marvellous old mansion in the center of a charming village. Small guest capacity, heartwarming staff. Some trtaffic noise, and many stairs, but you get used to it.

Review 111:Beautiful house with lovely furnishings and spotlessly clean. Niceprivate pool area. Pity they dont have a restaurant as there is not muchin Estoi so you have to drive but it is within easy distance of Faro,Olhao etc.

Review 112:Oxana the Manageress went way above expectation. The fine detail of the home was superb.

Review 113:WiFi proved inoperative but a small matter, I just popped down the local cafe.

Review 114:Everything, comfort, beds, staff, location, ambience, all excellent.

Review 115:Wonderful place in the very heart of Estoy. Enjoyed everything.

Review 116:No secure car park

Review 117:Friendly and helpful staff and central location

Review 118:Good location. Very friendly people. Good place for walking.

Review 119:The house, the location, the food, the owner/manager.
