Reviews for Anchor Motel
Review 1:We needed a place to sleep and take a shower near the airport. This fit the bill. We didn't need frills and didn't want to pay for them. It suited our needs to a tee.
Review 2:Very old motel. It was clean though furnishings were not very comfortable. Bed had only two pillows. Rather noisy.
Review 3:I wanted something close to airport which it was. There was a very good restaurant across the street connected to the Best Western. Did have microwave and refrigerator.
Review 4:Our room recently had a new shower installed. Well, who ever installed it lacked craftsmanship because the warranty information was never properly removed. This may seem minor, but it is a direct indication of lack of detail, or simply ignorning the steps to resolve imperfections. Management needs to place themselves in the shoes of their guests.
Review 5:Location and price
Review 6:The room was quite small and the windows difficult to latch. The deadbolt on the door was disabled, leaving only the flimsy doorknob latch.
Review 7:The room was clean and the staff was friendly.
Review 8:I called ahead because we were late and the proprietor was so nice on the phone. I was just as impressed by meeting him; he was friendly, cheerful and helpful. Great location, very clean rooms. A bargain and a great experience. Close to the Maine Mall and the airport.
Review 9:Beyond the shabby condition of the property and room, and the persistent smell of bleach, the air conditioning did not work; after running for hours, the room temperature was still hotter than the hot, humid August air outside. Rather than spend one night there, we forfeited our money -- they don't do refunds or try to make things right -- and drove home several hours even though it was very late. It's hard to believe anyone would give this a positive review.
Review 10:Location
Review 11:I have nothing negative to say. My boyfriend didn't find the bed as comfortable as I did...just depends on the person, I guess.
Review 12:It was easy to find, very simple accommodations, great place to stay if you're touring around during the day, great price, wonderful and friendly owners.
Review 13:We had to leave a day early and was told there was no refund because we booked on the internet. Won't ever use your service again is this is true. Please respond.
Review 14:online photos don't depict closeness of motel to highway, motel appearance looks rundown, sign said open upon arrival but no one there to complete check-in for 10 minutes, should have stayed somewhere else.
Review 15:price
Review 16:For the money, I really have no negatives.
Review 17:The hotel is close to Portland. The WiFi is free and works better than many more expensive hotels. The hotel was clean. There was a refrigerator in the room.
Review 18:The bed was not comfortable. It was a tight room. The price for the room was not a good value and the room was not all that clean.
Review 19:Manager was friendly.
Review 20:The room was small so there was no place to store the suitcases.
Review 21:Very easy access to downtown Portland and the airport. Room was clean. The beds were comfortable. Staff was friendly and helpful with directions and extra pillows. Room had a refrigerator and microwave.
Review 22:Poor WiFi, doors and framework of doors need to be painted to look clean and fresh, old door frame in bathroom needs to be replaced as wood at base near floor is in poor condition.
Review 23:Very friendly and kind owners, office always open, location, price, new towels, refrigerator, microwave, comfy beds, new owners are making upgrades as this is an older motel
Review 24:It's not a luxury motel, but everything was adequate for our 1 night stay. It's an old building, but it was clean. You can park directly in front of your room. A week prior, we stayed 1 night in Portland at a chain motel, paid $100 more for one night, and didn't sleep any better than we did at The Anchor Motel.
Review 25:Facility was pretty old and in need of some TLC.
Review 26:Staff was very friendly and helpful. Unit was clean, although old and outdated. Linens and towels nice quality. Good location and easy to find.
Review 27:Only two pillows on the bed and no extra blanket. Also the hot water was weird in the shower it kept changing temp midstream.
Review 28:It was close to everything. We were not bothered by staff or other guests.
Review 29:seemed like alot of money just to sleep, but cheapest around, plus I don't travel much
Review 30:close to our location that we came to visit (wedding) quiet
Review 31:Bed sheets smelt like smoke, was on a very loud road and there were people arguing loudly outside. Was quite expensive for what we actually got.
Review 32:Location was good- close to Portland. Parking was easy and spacious.
Review 33:Terribly old, dirty room. When I went to check in the lobby door was locked and when I checked out there was no one in the lobby area either. Felt unsafe and not that close to the beach. Way overpriced for the conditions.
Review 34:The Anchor is your typical roadside motel. You get a bed, tv, and a place to shower (the mini fridge & microwave was a bonus). If this isn't your thing, then pay twice as much for the Holiday Inn.
Review 35:The location was good. Just between Old Orchard Beach and Portland (but not real close to either). The price is excellent for the area and the staff (owners) were excellent. Real personable service, and they accommodated my every request.
Review 36:I chose to stay at this hotel as it had a great location and was half of the other places to stay in portland but it was not worth it. My room had a serious cleanliness issue and it was very disappointing. They did move me to a new room but the room was much smaller than my original room. I did get a refund for a night as my room was so unsatisfactory but they refunded the cheapest night of my stay, the first night was the most expensive.
Review 37:Very basic strip motel. Very modest breakfast.
Review 38:The price only seems good compared with all the others! Room was basic but clean and safe. New owners renovating rooms. Owners very friendly.
