Reviews for Hatchers Richmond Manor
Review 1:Dirty atic room with uncomfortable furnitire, small mouldy bathroom and staff who did not care. No breakfast included for the extremely high unit rate of $188 per night.
Review 2:Nothing to like.
Review 3:We where put into wrong room after showing on my email of room that Ihad paid for we were relocated room very tired needs some tlc especiallythe kitchenette area noise from adjoining rooms very loud and early inmorning no toilet paper
Review 4:Setting of property in beautiful area although our gps sending to backof property which was very confusing till we asked a local fordirections which she stated they get every day lost visitors
Review 5:Dim lighting, lied about having a kitchen when it was just a kitchenette with no stove, shower didn't work correctly and was so low I had to squate to shampoo my hair (no I am not especially tall), over all dirty backpacker style accomodation which would be ok if it was half the price. Also it's not a real manor; the building isn't actually historic but has fake decorations on the exterior to look old fashioned in photos but up close you can tell it's fake. WiFi was slow.
Review 6:The location just outside of Richmond was ok.
Review 7:All was good, good food, clean rooms, and happy welcoming faces everything else is your own fault if you dont like it here, we loved it.
Review 8:Location, and quietness. I found most of the reviews that I read had little or no foundation, remember its a working farm, with country friendly folk, stop thinking its the Ritz, its good hospitality, no frills, giving total relaxation.
Review 9:nothing - regret I didn't stay longer - unfortunately was booked out so couldn't extend my stay
Review 10:Fabulous working farm- breakfast under the rose arbour watching the chooks and friendly horses clip the front lawn.
Review 11:the farm is very run down and the room was passably clean. Bathroom wall were dirty, bath not properly clean and toilet had a leak s bend causing smelly water on the floor. The staff are inept and our stay was like an episode of Faulty Towers. If we had kids and were expecting a horse and cart ride we would have been further disappointed. food in dining room was basic and plain and the service in professional.
Review 12:The size of the room was great and everything in the room worked including the spa. Upstairs room had great views and sounds of the country.
Review 13:Accommodation was over priced. Bathroom was mouldy. Restaurant food was ordinary. The bed creaked loudly every move we made. Bed linen and covers were very worn.
Review 14:Quite location. We were very impressed that the owners built the whole establishment themselves.
Review 15:Rude staff. Terribly uncomfortable sofa bed, wobbly table. dirty and mouldy kitchen. Basic cleaning. Unclean sheets. Baby had to sleep on floor. Uninsulated floor, feel sorry for those underneath us.
Review 16:Free Wifi
Review 17:Sensor light in the bathroom. Every time someone went to the toilet during the night, it would come on and shine into our bedroom.
Review 18:Peace, tranquility and history.
Review 19:The hot water took a little long to warm up.
Review 20:When we first arrived we were greeted warmly and shown to our room where we watched the caretaker David put fresh milk in our fridge fir tea and coffees. The room was very comfortable and quiet and stepping out the door you could see rolling fields and hills of Richmond and walk through the paddocks and interact with the wildlife ...sheep etc. Then wander through the dinning and hire rooms where you could have a very nice wedding. We did not dine here but the menu we saw looked great and not badly priced. You could talk to the horses on the property and see chickens and ducks wandering about. And a short drive to town fir a great pub meal or to get food to cook in the room. The spa was very nice and worked well. Overall for us wa a great place to stay we will be back.
Review 21:It could be improved by having a carport to stop the car windscreen being iced over each morning. The television reception was poor, but we didn't really mind. We didn't try the DVD player.
Review 22:The children enjoyed being able to get close to the animals. It is close to Richmond and in a beautiful situation.
Review 23:Beautiful place, nice apartment with SPA bath and awesome bed. There was no stove in the kitchen but asked the staff and got an electrical pot. I highly recommend this place to everyone!!
Review 24:Staff's overall aim to please & friendliness, country estate seclusion merely 20mins walk from Richmond proper, and price was brilliant for the best accommodation we experienced in Tasmania in our travels.
Review 25:Good experience but suggest the overall impression of Hatchers Manor is that it would benefit from a freshen up - externally it is looking a touch tired and the orchards appear to be struggling form lack of attention.
Review 26:Walking distance to Richmond township & well situated for day trips to Hobart and other destinations such as Zoodoo.
Review 27:The bathroom was extremely small and no accessible farm animals as advertised, maintenance of facilities were somewhat lacking.
Review 28:The room was huge and the furniture was gorgeous and the hosts very friendly and helpful.
Review 29:No local wines, International Roast coffee at breakfast says it all. Missed a day due to violent diarrhoea after in house evening meal
Review 30:Look & location good
Review 31:dusty pink theme very flowery. Insects, unsafe oversized furniture, perished curtain pelmets, non-working lamps in one bedroom, towel folded and left on top of toilet seat, empty shampoo/conditioner containers, cheap half roll toilet paper, thin smelly towels, sewer smell emanating from central bathroom drain! The cottage at Hatchers Manor Richmond Tasmania boy conducive to Chinese tourism market.
Review 32:The rooms and facilities are getting a little run down. A decent cooktop and some cutlery such as can openers, sharp knifes and bowls would be good. These are small items but can be a pain when you dont have them available.
Review 33:The location is fantastic, beautiful little town and the property is very nice. Staff were helpfull and friendly.
Review 34:It was quiet except for a child that was upstairs above us who was running around for hours, the parents probably not aware that the noise was carried to us downstairs.
Review 35:It is a pretty outlook and it was clean.
Review 36:Arriving to find that our room wasn't set up for self catering as we understood it to be when booking. (Other rooms at this destination are)This was however made up for by the willingness and ability of our hostess to accommodate our needs in preparing an evening meal
Review 37:We appreciated the excellent, friendly attention we had from our hostess. And we appreciated the 'laid back' rural ambiance - such as having an errant horse walk past our door, with its handler in pursuit
Review 38:The room was infested with large spiders. I had a huge one appear on a thread of web in front of my face at 2:30 in the morning whilst sitting on the loo! We did not use the shower because of all the spiders on the ceiling and in the broken light fitting. Everything was rundown and tacky. The bathroom door was warped and buckling out at the bottom and didn't close properly. It also sounded like there were a herd of animals in the room upstairs. The light flickered, then went off when there was running overhead. The couch was so sagging and low we couldn't sit on it. I didn't sleep after 2:30am because of the fear of spiders and my husband didn't sleep because the bed was so uncomfortable. We left earlier than planned because we wanted to not be there anymore.
Review 39:Not much!
Review 40:some crazy person who was also staying here put thick Apricot jam on our car door handles for no apparent reason, other than this experience the place itself was great with no complaints
Review 41:friendly owners, helpful and available to assist, clean room, good wi-fi, high pressure in showers, quiet and peaceful
Review 42:Pillows and other linen had a chemical smell. Thin underlay meant sleeping on the electric blanket wire uncomfortable. Bulky furniture meant an otherwise generous room was crowded. Place seemed a bit tired. Orchard run down and extensive faux cobblestones everywhere were difficult to walk on. Trip hazard for the elderly.
Review 43:Was quiet.
Review 44:Our young son loved the experience of staying on a farm and eating apricots he had picked himself. Room furnishings were quirky and comfortable. Beautiful surroundings.
Review 45:I arrived with my crawling 9 month old baby to find the carpet had not been properly vacuumed and items in the kitchen were not clean (e.g. debris on the top of plates and dirty spoons). On complaint they mopped the kitchen floor and did a clean of the kitchen and vacuum of the floor the next day. But i was still very disappointed. Lastly for $220 per night they can afford better toilet paper than they put in public toilets.
Review 46:I was looking forward to having 4 nights in a self contained 'cottage' in the lovely old town of Richmond.
Review 47:Staff seemed burnt out and going through the motions
Review 48:The location was excellent and the scenery picturesque, in the country but not too far from Hobart and airport
Review 49:Beds were a bit uncomfortable.
Review 50:Property was just gorgeous. Room was very spacious. Kids loved the animals, space, and apricot and plum picking. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Would LOVE to stay there again.
Review 51:Bed was too saggy in the middle. There was no spa bath as suggested during booking and only a very small bathroom. Although well appointed we had to use bathroom sink as kitchen sink and no view or outlook from the room.
Review 52:Lovely atmosphere. Really nice to be able to pick cherries and apricots and walk around the property.
Review 53:Bathroom was not very clean. The towels were old and covered in bleach stains. The sofa was extremely uncomfortable to sit on, the bed not much better. The small wall mounted heater was very noisy and unlikely to be adequate in the middle of a Tasmanian winter. Wouldn't rush back to stay, the one night was enough!
Review 54:Not much! Place is very tired. Needs a lot of work in bringing it up to today's expected standards. The price was cheap, but the old adage applies; you only get what you pay for.
Review 55:Lack of preparation despite longstanding booking and arriving very late in the afternoon, poor organisation. Apparent indifference to our disappointing stay.
Review 56:Location and appearance inside and out
Review 57:Room was run down and finished with substandard materials. Only one room out of four were heated. Not great with small children. Reataurant staffed with students with no professional cooking staff. Breakfast was poor and breakfast room was unheated.
Review 58:Quite quaint and eclectic.
Review 59:Shower needs enclosing as water goes everywhere, next person will find floor wet. It is difficult because the toilet is in the same room.
Review 60:Friendliness of staff. Outdoor eating area. Surrounds. In keeping with the history of the area. Clean, really welcoming.
Review 61:We went in to have a meal at the restaurant the night we stayed and itwas a pretty cold night , but we didn't stay as the restaurant wasvery cold and even though they had a fire , it was not going so we didnot stay, that was disappointing!!
Review 62:It was nice with all the animals and the gardens to wander around atyour leisure, the room was really nice, electric blanket on the bed abig + for me , only 5 mins from the centre of Richmond too.
Review 63:Good facilities and a really comfortable bed (great for deep sleep). A great farm setting, with interesting surrounds. Really friendly and helpful staff. Friendly animals as well; especially the goats and llamas! Very dog-friendly, so if you're pet pooches insist on going on holiday with you, treat them to Hatchers. The experience and the setting may not be for everybody, but it makes a change to the insipid, uninspiring (and comparatively expensive) experience you get at 'brand' accommodation. We'll be back, and very soon too, I might say.
Review 64:coffee cups too small ,lager drinking glasses insulated walls could hear next room tv too thin walls ,bath towels too small too thin one wipe and they were done, staff eating with the guest was a bit bizzare, place certainly looked the goods but came up short on quality, also dogs scratching at the toilet door while you were eating was enoying all up not much good i can say about the place
Review 65:meal at the restaurant was very good
Review 66:photos of this place on brochure very deceiving. very dated, beds so hard felt like you were on a board
Review 67:location is about the only thing
Review 68:It's really interesting to feed the horse!
Review 69:Bathroom could be improved.
Review 70:Excellent staff, very caring with dogs, loved to come back again to spend more days.
Review 71:Comfortable room and quiet environment.

Review 91:The property needs attention, rooms need a revamp ie paint

Review 116:Not enough dinner ware for the 4 of us and some of the furniture was broken..
Review 117:Nice comfortable accommodation. Kids loved the horse..
Review 118:Poor internet connection.
Review 119:The cottage where we stayed was very spacious and comfortable. The staff, who are the owners of the farm, are very friendly and allow you to play with their animals (horses, ponies, sheep...), which is an interesting experience for those who live in cities.
Review 120:Had a very comfortable time at Hatchers and could not have asked for better service or a friendlier reception. Would definitely stay there again. Very beautiful place.
