Reviews for Loews Boston Hotel
Review 1:Super comfortable bed. Great TV with lots of channels. Heated towel rack. Fluffy robes. Nice big towels. Lovely amenities - shower gel and moisturiser smell amazing. Lovely decor. Very friendly and helpful staff. Great restaurant downstairs.
Review 2:Room was smaller than what I originally booked. Nothing was said until after we mentioned that the room and bed was small. They offered to discount the room. Nice but either they should have mentioned it or upgraded us.
Review 3:Close to most landmarks and restaurants. Clean.
Review 4:Nothing!
Review 5:I requested a room on a higher floor and consequently had a slightly better view of the surrounding area although I was overlooking the side of the property but could still see over the building next to the hotel. Every member of staff that I came into contact with was extremely polite and went over and above to help or advise - well done Loews!
Review 6:If you are taller than 5' 2", the bath is pretty small. But that's a very minor quibble as the bathroom and toiletries are excellent.
Review 7:Housekeeping were superb. Bed very comfortable. Great location.
Review 8:Our room was lovely but a bit small for two people.
Review 9:I was very pleased to be able to check in early. I was attending a nearby concert and needed to be there two hours prior to the published check in time.
Review 10:The room was very nice. The staff was very responsive. We attended the tailgate in the club downstairs and the staff was very receptive to serving suggestions for the buffet.
Review 11:Fabulous location within walking distance of the theater district. Beautiful room with king size bed. Valet was very welcoming and helpful. Hotel willingly extended our check out time to accommodate business commitment. Breakfast in hotel restaurant was delicious. Amazing experience. Highly recommended. Can't wait to go back!!
Review 12:Too expensive and this would deter me from future stays....need to be getting better value deals, especially as I booked 2 rooms. Even an offer of a free upgrade might have been nice !
Review 13:Good location, helpful staff, comfortable accommodation
Review 14:The bed was the most comfy hotel bed ever. The friendly staff just couldn't do enough for us. The cleanliness of everywhere. Was spotless. Restaurant foods were excellent.
Review 15:Empty not stocked mini-bar, and very loud air conditioning enough to send us slightly mad and spoiling the suite feel of one of the penthouse rooms.
Review 16:Friendly staff, well positioned hotel and great in hotel restaurant.
Review 17:Room was small for the amount we spent and was not of an exceptional level on luxury or service.
Review 18:Great location - we did walking tour of historic Boston from the hotel. Also beautifully restored and modern hotel, with good facilities. Valet parking was very efficient and not expensive.
Review 19:The bathroom didn't have a bathtub. Wish I had known before we checked in. I would have asked for a different room especially since we paid to upgrade.
Review 20:The bed and linens were very comfortable.
Review 21:I requested non feather pillows and a room on a high floor neither of which I got. They had to change the bedding when I arrived and my view was just of an internal area. The hotel used to belong to the Jurys group and in my opinion it is not as nice now.
Review 22:The location was great and the free coffee in the lobby seemed to suit a lot of the guests. The facilities were good.
Review 23:The price! And I know it's practice in the US but quoting prices without tax is so misleading to uk customers at least. The king size room was much smaller than I expected. Coffee facilities in the room but not tea.
Review 24:Nicely designed and functional comfortable rooms, lobby, and restaurant
Review 25:For almost $500 per night, breakfast would have been appreciated.
Review 26:Staff was superior, especially the consigier, Klavis (sp). The room was clean, big and beautiful. The bed was extremely comfortable.
Review 27:Paying $7 dollars for a bottle of water, no kettle to make tea although coffee maker was very good. Noisy fan when on.
Review 28:Great room on 8th floor, super comfy bed with wonderful linen. 2 wardrobe closets plus iron and ironing board. Bathroom fab with sensor lights under sink unit - so no stubbling in middle of the night
Review 29:Helpfulness of the staff; professionalism of the staff even when I handed them a used box of wine that I had drunk because I did not see a garbage can by check in. Comfiness of the room, cleanliness, etc.
Review 30:The only slight downside to the Hotel is that it is that the bar is very popular and can be a bit noisy.
Review 31:This hotel was a very pleasant surprise. Although we booked it based on the Booking.com rating, which was very good, it surpassed our expectations. It is a converted Police HQ. Our room was nicely decorated and very quiet and comfortable. The staff were very helpful and friendly and added to our stay by giving us advice about attractions and helping us with reservations. The location is excellent, just a short walk from Boston Common, Copley Square, great restaurants and shops, should they be needed. Would I go back? Most certainly.
Review 32:it was an average hotel and nothing special felt like I could have stayed at a holiday inn and it would have been similar I always heard about how nice Lowes hotels are and this hotel was nothing special
Review 33:The concierge was helpful
Review 34:The AC is pretty cold at night and I waited forever for the brunch to serve at the restaurant.
Review 35:The room is very homie. All the staff is super nice and the bed is very comfortable.
Review 36:no breakfast included in the rate rooms expensive, for what I thought I was ordering of a 'deluxe king'. views of a small courtyard/brick buildings gym was across building near the restaurant, with no private lift
Review 37:Friendly staff Ease of check in fluffy pillows very comfortable beds large bathrooms with a good amount of towels fluffy bathrobes
Review 38:It's a lovely hotel but was a bit pricy for our purposes. We used the facilities mostly to sleep and shower so in retrospect we would probably have found more reasonably priced accommodations.
Review 39:We came to see Boston for the first time - and very much enjoyed all of the sites we visited. Friendly people, good food and easy to get around.
Review 40:Small lobby. The maid knocked on our door @9.10am on Saturday asking if she can service the room though we are in there with TV on, she could at least hear the TV?
Review 41:The room is new and stylishly decorated, the bathroom is nice and large. Quick and efficient service to get the car from parking.
Review 42:Love the hotel. Great location. Spacious rooms. Friendly/Helpful staff. Gorgeous hotel. Loved it and would come back. Plus got a great deal on Booking.com.
Review 43:Inability of the valet staff to accommodate full size SUV with a Thule roof box. I had to find alternate parking arrangements on my own.
Review 44:Boutique feel with the comfort of a large chain. Never too busy, and the staff always have time to give a lending hand.
Review 45:The attitude of all employees, so negative and unwelcoming. One of the receptionists talked to me in a way making it feel like I was on the streets. I will never give a good publicity and I will share this story with much people possible. This hotel needs a slap in its face for a wake up call. Do not even thinking of stepping foot in the gym. The underground sewage smell and look better than their gym. What a waste of money and time.
Review 46:Absolutely nothing, honestly. never again in this hotel
Review 47:Room 736 is small tho it is billed as a deluxe King. Chair too close to bed and nowhere to put it. Really, my only issue was the room size.
Review 48:Everything! (Except the room size.) The staff was great - really everyone over our 3-day stay. The place is spotless and smells wonderful. Room 736 is very quiet especially if the guests in the neighboring rooms are vigilant about the soft-close doors. If you are sensitive to traffic noise, get earplugs and a white-sound app - you're in the city - there's traffic - deal with it! Free espresso in the lobby is wonderful! Bed very comfy. Nice toiletries.
Review 49:We could not use the hotel parking because of a Thule on the roof due to college move- in day for my son so we were advised to park in lot adjacent to hotel and that it was supposed to be cheaper than hotel parking. Sign on lot said $28.00 for 10-24 hours of parking but when we checked out next day (less than 24 hours) we were charged $48.00 for parking and there was no attendant there and the machine would not print out our receipt. Needless to say, we were not happy.
Review 50:-Internet is slow. -When I booked on booking.com, the website showed that I would have a late checkout for 2 hours as a "genius" member. But when I confirmed with the hotel after I arrived, they told me the checkout time was still 11 am and they could extend it to 12 pm upon my request but it was not guaranteed. Be sure to confirm the checkout time with the hotel.
Review 51:-Bed is very comfortable. -I didn't have the chance to try the restaurant/bar on the basement floor of the hotel. But it looks very popular. -Close to metro stations.
Review 52:Overall, this is a great hotel. My only small criticisms is the style of the hall carpeting and the lack of a dedicated lounge area.
Review 53:This hotel is in a great location for touring Boston yet still off the beaten track. The staff was helpful, particularly the bell men.
Review 54:We have been using Jury's/Back Bay/Loews whenever we visit Boston. It's most charming feature has always been the warmth of its staff. On arrival this was, sadly, lacking on this occasion. The functional and 'cold' receptionist matched the (new?) sterile reception area. I must say that the staff during the remainder of our visit were of the quality we have come to expect from Loews. I hope Loews is careful not to lose its soul in the interests of modernisation.
Review 55:A comfortable and reliable hotel; nothing too fancy, everything works! The restaurant was of good quality and good value. Ideal location.
Review 56:Great location in Back Bay, close to Boston Common, Beacon Hill and walking distance to Faneuil Hall area. Extremely nice staff - friendly and helpful. Interesting building and great decor. Large, clean & comfortable room.
Review 57:Internet limited to three devices and very slow. This is no longer acceptable--complimentary, decent wifi needed. Also, booking.com and hotel did not communicate properly, lost reservation, and initially overcharged. Fortunately, I had a copy of the reservation.
Review 58:Location
Review 59:Nightstand only on one side of the bed. Very tiny room with no view, but its a reasonable price in Boston, so can't expect too much.
Review 60:Very good location. Close to Newbury Street and a distant but doable walk to Fenway.
Review 61:The beds were really hard and the pillows really soft to the point they went flat when used. There was also a smell in the room when we walked in each time. Limited lobby area.
Review 62:The rooms were nice and clean and the location was convenient. The bathroom was nice and had all the amenities needed. The hotel was nice, but I prefer others in the area.
Review 63:The hotel was pricey, even for the area. We did book late, but I wonder if there might have been better values in the vicinity.
Review 64:This hotel was in a great location, near Boston Common and lots of good restaurants. The staff was friendly and helpful. There was a nice bar, the hotel restaurant was good, and there was a wonderful late machine in the lobby.
Review 65:Checked in late, asked for late check out on a Sunday, very reluctantly was given an hour. Checked bags upon checkout and when we returned to get them, one didn't make it into cab. Had to be shipped! What breakfast? We didn't even know there was coffee! Wish there was ice water on that hot day!!! Fridge didn't fit in fridge space and cord was at an awkward place.
Review 66:Bed was comfortable! Hotel was walking distance to some things.
Review 67:Great place, staff was A+. Parking is almost $50 per day but there is a lot just before the hotel on the right that is $28 per day. They will let you leave your car out front while you unload and check in then just swwing back around to park and save your self a bunch of money
Review 68:Loved everything! Even walking in the rain one day.
Review 69:Our hotel was excellent- location was perfect! We were able to walk to most sites. Boston is an amazing city! Boston beer tour was a great time too!
Review 70:Just the price - Boston is expensive.
Review 71:Staff were very helpful, the big screen TV and free coffee were great for watching the women's World Cup matches and the room was very comfortable.
Review 72:No complaints
Review 73:I couldn't remember my rewards number and the girl at the desklooked it up and smiled and then Upgraded me to a very large beautifulroom! Valet was awesome they accomadated my oversized van, and the foodand drink were great!
Review 74:Only problem was with poor coffee dispenser in the communal lounge area. Perhaps a bit on the pricey side, but I guess that's Boston.
Review 75:The hotel is in a convenient and quiet location near Copley Square. It is very clean and the rooms are well appointed and comfortable.
Review 76:The doorman called me by name when taking bags from cab and next day while I was sitting in lobby he again addressed me by name. Location great , bar and restaurant fun and good food. Will, stay again.
Review 77:i feel that because this location is not right in Copley Square, it was about too pricy. And 7.00 for a bottle of water?? Ridiculous. I had to go to the store and purchase the same water for 2.49.
Review 78:The bed was wonderful. The staff was wonderful. The room and ambience were wonderful. Better than the Westin by FAR!!!
Review 79:There's no pool! If i'd had a pool to jump into after crawling out of the layers of luxuriously soft sheets, i might have done more than lay in bed.
Review 80:Location = right in the heart of the back bay Family-friendly = Always a party in the outdoor restaurant - fun enough to add cool vibes, not loud enough to disturb anyone's sleep Staff = everyone was friendly and just a pleasure to meet
Review 81:Nothing in particular
Review 82:Most things - bar, dining room and outdoor area was very nice. Short walk to Copley Square, Back Bay shopping, and Boston Common.
Review 83:Standard King Room. The bed was very comfortable and clean, room was your basic hotel room, plenty of space to shower, get ready in the morning, and sleep. The concierge was very helpful on how to get where we needed to go and food recommendations. Back Bay station is a 5 minute walk. Duck Tours are prolly a 10-15 minute walk but an easy one. It's right in the middle of Boston between the north end and fenway. So either way you want to go you can be there in 20 minutes. Boston Public garden is also a short walk away. We took the subway a lot to get where we needed since the station was close. Also, heads up, buy a 1 day or 7 day pass For the subway, it's way cheaper!
Review 84:Air conditioning is not adjustable and blows too heavily when in bed.
Review 85:Great staff. The automatic coffee/tea machine in the lobby is terrific! Walking distance to shopping and center is great too.
Review 86:The showers were a bit difficult to operate!
Review 87:This hotel was the ideal place to stay for a graduation week end. Everything was great. The check in staff were very helpful with places to eat and visit. The doormen were very quick to get us taxis and the location is just right.
Review 88:i needed to modify my 2 nights down to one 5 days before arrival. By he hotel refused to respond to booking com. Took multiple calls to make them modify. Which was totally within the agreement. Ended up charging me at a higher rate than originally booked. With one exception staff is arrogant. Will never stay there again. $700 they charged. The headline of my review says it all.
Review 89:nothing
Review 90:No breakfast included and I have paid around $ 350 per night without tax
Review 91:Night shift manager. Who was very nice and helpful.. Morning front desk stuff was very professional but rude..
Review 92:the Bar staff made it seem like we were bothering them by being there. Plenty of staff and not overly busy when we were there.
Review 93:Everyone was so kind & helpful except..
Review 94:No real control over the strength of the air-conditioning: it was either on or off. Fitness facilities was a small room with a few pieces of equipment.
Review 95:Location and room facilities were excellent - walkable everywhere and a great bed to relax on. Free coffee in the lounge was a great bonus.
Review 96:To be honest this hotel is really lovely, it's just a little bit on the expensive side.
Review 97:Location is good for back bat but a bit of a walk to the North side. The staff were incredible and the hotel is lovely!
Review 98:Lacked a pool, and a little off the beaten path. All tolerable and booked for that reason!
Review 99:The staff by far were the best. Exceptionally professional and extremely helpful. The hotel was kept very clean and very inviting.
Review 100:My only real disappointment was my son wanted and ordered brfkst beforehe was leaving to run in marathon and never received it. Wish hotelrates weren't so expensive because of marathon.
Review 101:Location for Marathon great . The exit gate was right where one to goout of and to hotel across the street, especially as cold and rainy asthat day was. Also close to Boston commons. Maybe 4-5 blocks to subway.Fenway a mile 1/2 or so away. Personal very accommodating. Lots ofgood restaurants around location. Love , love, love this place.Definitely catered to runners and families with the weather conditions l
Review 102:We finished the 2015 marathon in the cold windy rain and everyone was shivering. You obviously don't want to walk all over town after those 26 miles and so it was so convenient to walk just about one block further to Loews. We were showering within minutes of finishing the race. It was great. Also nice restaurant in the basement.
Review 103:The free "version" of the wifi was poor and there was substantial cost of "high speed" internet which still did not meet my expectations regarding speed.
Review 104:The room was very clean, nice shower, bed comfortable.
Review 105:Being Italian, I see room for improvement of their espresso coffee
Review 106:Modern decor and style Front desk attendants and restaurant waiters have been sooooo helpful Stylish restaurant/bar Located just next to Newbury St. and the shopping area
Review 107:Had booked a Deluxe King room and was very small, only a couple of feet either side of the king bed. Smaller than most European hotel rooms.
Review 108:Excellent location just off Boston Common. Had meetings at Tufts so was a very easy walk even in bad weather. Also a short walk to far side of Common, Charles Street, and the back Bay.
Review 109:There was noise from the outside. We also detected tobacco smoke coming from another room in the bathroom. A little too expensive.
Review 110:The staff was very professional and friendly. The hotel keeps a good standard.
Review 111:We were parents with a teenager, and although they knew we were in one room, they had only left towels and toiletries for two. Room was dated. Slow and inefficient on front desk except one nice girl.
Review 112:Location.
Review 113:Not so great free WiFi. At times slow for live video streaming. Not so strong signals in some parts of the room.
Review 114:Location, staff friendliness and comfort.
Review 115:Room was very small and hard to move around in. There was also a lack of attention to detail: on our first night we discovered many small holes or tears in our top sheet. On day 2 our soap dish wasn't cleaned, and a vacuum cleaner was left in an awkward spot in the hall. Friday the bar was too loud, but it was just fine when we gathered there with family on Saturday
Review 116:It was convenient to Back Bay shopping and to the Calderwood Pavilion theatre in the South End. Loews was very clean, and they responded to our request for a new sheet. Breakfast from the Precinct Kitchen was delicious.
Review 117:It's almost impossible to fault the hotel but the only disappointment for me was the bath; on a -17C day I was desperate for a long hot bath and it was a little too shallow for a nice relaxing bath - but such a minor element of a beautiful stay.
Review 118:Everything! Fantastic service from everyone from the doorman to front desk to bellman to restaurant waiter (make sure you eat at The Precint. Amazing!) Beautiful room and amazing king bed. Bliss.
Review 119:We got a room assigned on the 8th level. The climatic device was quite noisy when it cooled the room. Besides that everything was great.
Review 120:Our second stay at this hotel. Rooms are very comfortable and staff very friendly and helpful. Location is great and near many restaurants and interesting places
Review 121:Would have got 100% marks all round except for poor service in the Precinct for breakfast - despite no other guests and four waiting staff - it was slow, sporadic and non attentive - a big shock but they will fix it!
Review 122:Perfect location in many ways, very personable and intimate environment (not too big and not too small), all front staff very attentive, high quality standards throughout. Now our place to stay in Boston.
Review 123:It was a beautiful hotel with lovely helpful staff. The room was so nice after a big day we actually chose to stay in and watch TV with room service instead of going out!
Review 124:Only thing missing was a fridge in the room
Review 125:Comfortable bed, spacious room & bathroom staff very helpful and so friendly. Complementary coffee in downstairs lobby which was a real bonus loved coming back to it after a busy day in Boston.
Review 126:Poor Fitness Centre. Valet parking was slow
Review 127:Clean and well presented rooms that are relatively spacious. Staff are helpful and the location allowed us to walk to some excellent restaurants.
Review 128:WiFi is a bit off, although I had the high speed connection, it was not as fast. Valet staff seem to be in their own world sometimes.
Review 129:Excellent front desk staff, and concierge, very courteous and helpful. Beautiful spacious rooms. Extremely clean, perfect downtown Boston location. Loved it.
Review 130:Unfortunately the dividing door, properly shut, allowed us to hear every foul word used by the neighbouring guest, Mrs Potty Mouth. The hotel handled it very well and it did not cause too much distress for our wedding anniversary.
Review 131:The room was excellent and the staff attentive but not overbearing. The issue mentioned later was handled very well and delicately. Will use hotel again in the future.
Review 132:location is fantastic, just few minutes walk to Newbury street, staff are lovely so helpful, it was my birthday and a card with a bottle of prosecco and a little cake was left in our room, so nice.
Review 133:There was a dirty sock a previous guest had left. Although we were on the 7th floor it was still very noisy from the Street.
Review 134:The location was very central to walk to both boston common and to the shops. The staff were very friendly and helpful, without being too much in your face and overall a very chilled out, comfortable hotel We also got upgraded which was a lovely touch There is a lounge to get frer hot drinks which is very good and a lovely bar and restaurant downstairs called the precinct
Review 135:All the character has been taken out of this hotel. The shower was very poor, water dribbled, no water pressure. We had a grand king bedroom which was actually tiny for the high price we paid. The bed was very uncomfortable, I had back aches each morning. When booking the room, it said we would have a bath and shower and minibar, we only had a shower and had to ask for a fridge to store my insulin. Bottles of water, $7!! Really took away from our trip, will not be returning. Could have stayed in another hotel with much bigger room, breakfast included and more modern amenities for less. does not deserve the high star rating on this website.
Review 136:The restaurant staff were lovely, recognize a few from when this hotel was a Doyle hotel. The reason I booked this hotel was due to my fond memories from trips when I was younger before Loews took over.
