Reviews for Amsterdam Manor Beach Resort
Review 1:Not a thing.
Review 2:Excellent location, off the beaten path but easy access to high-rise area and downtown Oranjestad. Eagle Beach is exceptional: nearly white sand, no shells or stones making it hard to walk, and turquoise waters.
Review 3:Nothing negative that I can remember & if there was something it was probably minor....
Review 4:EVERYTHING...!!!! Celebrating my birthday with the love of my life in PARADISE... The resort was clean, well kept, and peaceful. The staff was very nice , helpful and really enjoyed what they do. If you do visit this resort, make sure you meet Juan who works at the restaurant on the grounds & at Passions on the beach "Great Guy - My People"
Review 5:As for Aruba as a whole, value-for-money is below average compared to other holiday locations; our "Standard Studio" was ok, but had no window except from the glas door, so rather dark; poor wifi on the room; beach bar slow and with overpricd food and drinks
Review 6:Overall well-maintained hotel at a very nice (but busy) beach; Restaurant "Passions on the beach" is definitely worth a visit despite the high prices - especially during sunset starting at 6pm; very good breakfast
Review 7:The food at the hotel could use a little work. Everything was just a little bit "off".
Review 8:Perfect location. Wonderful beach. Very charming hotel, outstanding staff. Wonderful amenities.
Review 9:Internet was not stabled at our room.
Review 10:The location is really great. It's so easy to access the most beautiful Eagle beach. Not far from the high rise international chain resorts, but the location and the resort is definitely more cozy. Love the daily happy hour at the bar. Bartender Peter was great.
Review 11:the beach is very windy (as the whole island), so if you don't like wind it is not for you (but it feels not so hot therefore). We discovered however not so windy beaches as well in 5 min drive. Airconditioning is a horror if you are not used to it, switch it off during the night otherwise you will get sick as we did!!
Review 12:The staff is great (except one guy on the beach who was rather ignorant), our child loved Jose at the restaurant, he was entertaining us every morning!!!
Review 13:The location is perfect: minutes from downtown shopping and tons of restaurants. Small boutique hotel with great staff! No gym but you can purchase a pass at hotel next door, which is convenient.
Review 14:Live music at happy hour was less than good, also service was poor there. They touted free snacks, and only served us three small bites in 1 hour. Pool is small, and drinks at the beach were very expensive compared to other beach bars we visited.
Review 15:Bed was super comfortable, very clean, but the room was very small for the price. Close to the super grocery store.
Review 16:Breakfast buffet on property a plus, but the same each day.
Review 17:This private property is pristine! No elevators and large lobby's, just walk right into your up to date private, quiet, tasteful room! Passions was a "pinch me, so I know this is real" experience!
Review 18:There's only one thing I have to complaint about: guests wake up early in the morning just to get towels to "mark" their palapas on the beach. We went out to the beach about 9 a.m. every morning and there was just a couple of palapas remaining vacant, while the others had towels and stuff all over it but no living person actually on them. The hotel should have some kind of control: it´s very annoying to see almost every palapa taken by the morning but no one actually on the beach until 11-12 am.
Review 19:Staff is overall very nice, the hotel is very quiet and family-driven, the facilities are in perfect order, the beach is the best in the island (alongside with Baby Beach), the rooms have a small fully-equipped kitchen and you're near everything (there´s a Super Food supermarket in a 5-minute walking distance). There's a bus stop right in front of the hotel, and we found out, after a couple of days, that the bus is the best way to get around: easy, safe, fast and cheap (just reminding we used the official public transportation company, Arubus).
Review 20:Air condition worked a little bit too good, difficult to adjust Some Mosquitos at night (outdoors at the Mango restaurant), probably seasonal
Review 21:Location, Eagle Beach is great Food was fantastic Staff is great The studio we stayed in was large, and well suited for a family The studio was beautiful
Review 22:bad cooking and food quality of both restaurants (restaurant mango's and passions). Isn't worth the money!
Review 23:Never seen a hotel with such a friendly und happy stuff before in my whole life. you really gonna believe in the slogan - aruba, a happy island! beautiful hotel with high quality and a good price/performance ratio. the hotel is very classy and very personal, not a high rise hotel or a cheap tourist trap! the hotel is very well situated at the most beautiful, clean and quiet beach of aruba. check out the possibility to have a dinner at the beach with a stunning view at the sunset!
Review 24:Did not like the check in and check out hours.
Review 25:Love the location, its right opposite the beach. the Sunsets were great. Also dinner on the beach was excellent.
Review 26:Size of the bed; not sure it was even a queen size; thought we booked king. Nice size studio, but not too convenient to much. Lack of separate parking lot an issue forcing backing out of parking spot onto travelled road (accident waiting to happen that unfortunately did for me).
Review 27:Location on the island, beach, friendliness of staff.
Review 28:Rates for rooms seem high for what you get throughout Aruba, also here. This was ok for our special day but will pick something more affordable for next trips.
Review 29:Loved the buildings, were exactly like in pictures. Rooms were spacious enough and very quiet, did not here any noise from elsewhere. There was always space at poolside or at the beach. Eagle beach seems much quieter than palm beach, which i liked, but with bus you got quickly anywhere needed (city, palm beach). Personnel was very friendly and we even got some extra special attention due to our wedding here, which was nice. Restaurant in the beach was exceptionally good!
Review 30:Beach attendant who threw my snorkel equipment in towel bin and let others take our beach chairs when we went in for lunch. Beware of added service charges, and that non guests arrive in droves and take over the beach. Jet skis annoying next store.
Review 31:Free upgrade to second floor two bedroom suite which was fabulous. Food in restaurants and drinks, especially Passions on the beach was excellent! Free use of floats in ocean was heaven.
Review 32:Nothing
Review 33:Everything! The view of the ocean each morning was wonderful. We walked along the beach each day. The hotel was accessible to downtown and the high rise. Great food and entertainment everywhere.
Review 34:They have a problem with flies being everywhere around the food/bars during the day. Don't know if there is anything that can be done about it since they are open air restaurants. Beach is beautiful for swimming but if you want to snorkel you will have to travel, water is cloudy at this beach.
Review 35:Very nice, amazing staff. Very helpful activities desk for planning excursions. Beautiful location and beach. Amazing food options at the hotel. Especially passions on the beach restaurant. WiFi everywhere
Review 36:The staff was so friendly. The location was just across from one of the best beaches in Aruba.
Review 37:The bed wasn't that comfortable.
Review 38:N/a
Review 39:Close to the beach and excellent restaurants
Review 40:Quiet location and better beach than at the high rise section.
Review 41:Nothing!
Review 42:Friendly staff and good food in both restaurants, Mango's and Passion on the Beach.
Review 43:Watch out for additional taxes/charges which are quite high in Aruba
Review 44:Close to the best beach on the island!
Review 45:Located at the best beach of the island with free sunchairs. Walking distance to high rise with a lot of restaurants or a short bus ride away.
Review 46:Dehumidifies in room too loud.
Review 47:Perfect location
Review 48:Bar and restautant ahpuld be livelier?
Review 49:The staff are the best.
Review 50:Great Food...Super Beach !!
Review 51:The bathroom was getting a odor whenever it's close up
Review 52:The restaurant on the beach has a bad odor which prevented us from going back a second time.
Review 53:It's Aruba...what can I say? Paradise.
Review 54:Staff at Mango's, especially Juan! Woman who works with Juan, And Nilo, and the chocolate lady.
Review 55:Poor wifi. Too much money for too little planned activity Road between hotel and beach - deceptive advertising
Review 56:Central
Review 57:They were flexible when we could not make it there due to a flight cancellation. Such nice staff!
Review 58:Air condition
Review 59:Eagle Beach Food Beds The View
Review 60:Nothing noted
Review 61:Friendly Helpful Clean Easy access
Review 62:WiFi is horrible, pool was a bit too small, coffee wasn't great
Review 63:Rooms, beds were great, location.
Review 64:The dehumidifier was very noisy and you had to use it
Review 65:The location next to the beach was very good
Review 66:The automatic 15% service charge. Is it a tip? Do we have a choice to no pay it? Why not just tack it into the price? Also 18.95 for have the room cleaned every day was unnecessary as well. I don't understand why this is not just added to the price?
Review 67:Quiet room. Great kitchenette. So convenient to everything. Passions restaurant was beautiful. We had a lovely time.
Review 68:Location, happy hours with Vincent and Peter the bartenders, the service in general and the room was amazing. We really liked the kitchenette and the updated decor. Going back for ten days instead of a week next year.
Review 69:Having to chase the towel & sunbed guy to unlock our sunbedsevery morning!
Review 70:Location- the beach is beautiful, fine white sand and not too busy. Wecould still get a bed and shade even if we didn't get up at 7am toput towels out! (Stayed first week May) Close to a large, very wellstocked supermarket. Very nice for having breakfast and lunch on ourterrace. Bus stop right out front which ran very frequent servicealong the coast. Easy to use day and night. We stayed in a studio roomwhich was very well equipped. Even had a juicer! Also had an ipoddocking station so we could listen in to uk radios over the internet. The restaurants linked to the hotel were all good and happy hour wellworth a try!
Review 71:Only 2 things that made it less than excellent. Wifi signal was constantly weak and the street ran between the hotel and the beach versus a hotel on the beach with the road in back of the hotel.
Review 72:The staff was wonderful and made the stay very pleasant. The room was nice and the couch bed both comfortable. I certainly would consider coming back again.
Review 73:Wi-Fi signal was very weak to non-existent. System needs to be upgraded. Water pressure very weak at times and there was little hot/cold water consistency. Washer in laundry room should be replaced.
Review 74:Great location, beautiful beach. We had a two bedroom suite w/kitchenette. Plenty of room and great having the option of having breakfast on the terrace. The beach facilities were exceptional, not crowded and we could always find a palapa. The staff was very pleasant and always helpful. The concierge was especially useful in making reservations and finding points of interest. All-in-all we had a great week and think the low rise area can't be beat.
Review 75:Spotty WiFi in our room but good on the beach and grounds, access cards stopped working several times (but staff attended to the problem each time), water temperature in shower was erratic (went hot randomly several times per shower), basically no vegetarian options at onsite restaurants or even nearby restaurants so we dined at Highrise District (1.8-mile walk or $2.30 bus ride each way per person) or Oranjestad or ate food purchased from supermarket.
Review 76:Excellent and quiet location across from Eagle Beach, had no problem getting shaded spot on beach with chairs at different times each day, very close to supermarket, bus stop right out front, beautiful hotel, loved our balcony with side view of ocean, well-stocked kitchenette good for dining in (vegetarians take note), excellent happy hours, satisfactory pool, very nice concierge.
Review 77:expensive on-site restaurants. de palm tours left us stranded one night (we watched it drive away as we were walking toward it from the long pier) and we had to taxi home.
Review 78:free wi-fi, restaurants, comfortable room.
Review 79:Part of the staff has a 'cold attitude' - but I had the same impression elseqhere in the island.
Review 80:Very well located, competent professional staff, excellent facilities. The 2-bedroom suite is recommended for 4-people, being slightly cheaper that individual rooms, but providing privacy and also havin a very nice common area which includes a large balcony.
Review 81:Can be difficult to get a beach hut if you go later and if there are cruise ship guests in town. Chairs and towels are always provided by the hotel, but other vendors rent chairs as well which makes for competition for shade.
Review 82:Clean, comfortable, small and very quiet hotel with kitchenettes that facilitate eating in. Daily maid service, friendly and courteous staff. The beach is only steps away and it is beautiful. We had a room just across from the restaurant and bar and it was still very quiet!
Review 83:Nothing I can think of
Review 84:Very good location - beautiful beach just across the road, 2 good restaurants, quiet beach with comfortable chairs and enough sunshades and clean towels; very friendly staff both in the restaurants and in the hotel; well-stocked supermarket at walking distance; busstop in front of hotel to go to Oranjestad.
Review 85:Breaksfast could be better for such a hotel.
Review 86:Location is perfect. Nice beach, calm area. Hotel beach restaurant is very good and the staff is kind and well prepared.
Review 87:The staff quality shifted on which one who was working every day. The room was really clean the first days but the last two was quit bad (and I think it was beacuse shift in cleaning staff)
Review 88:Nice beach, and it was really nice with free sunchairs on the beach. Really good room. The bar on the beach was wonderful!
Review 89:Breakfast. We paid extra to have breakfast included for the week but no one ever asked up for our breakfast coupons. I wish we had saved ourselves the money. The breakfast area is very small and overcrowded. Twice during our stay we just got in the car & went somewhere else because it was too manic at the hotel. On the morning we were leaving we asked the breakfast staff just for a coffee at 0715 before our taxi for the airport picked us up at 0730 but we were told absolutely no..that they did not open until 0730 and not a minute before. That didn't leave us with a very good impression leaving the hotel. The wifi connection is also not very good.
Review 90:Its proximity to the beach and the fact that it not a massive high rise resort! It is a lovely property with very nice staff.
Review 91:Some of the wait staff in the Mangos restaurant did not have thegreatest command of English so ordering anything different than the menudescription was a challenge.
Review 92:Great access to beach Passions restaurant food was good Plenty of otherrestaurants within walking distance (Screaming Eagle, Tulip, etc.)
Review 93:The swimming pool was very small and not well kept. The back of the hotel looks on to a parking lot and a supermarket.
Review 94:It was situated on a quiet, wonderful beach.
Review 95:To fly back :(
Review 96:Very friendly staff, very clean and spacy rooms, to Eagle Beach only afew steps, bus stop in front of the hotel, we did the dinner on thebeach - awesome, we also tested different restaurants, but the food inthe hotel restaurant was the best. Very nice was the happy hour at thebeach bar :)
Review 97:We stayed in a one bedroom suite directly across from the restaurant. Itdid get a bit noisy.
Review 98:This is the 3rd time my husband and I stayed at the Manor. It is quiteand calm. We love the location and we love the beach across the street. The staff is great. The rooms are fantastic.
Review 99:The king bed in our superior studio was too hard and the pillows mushy. Most studios have a sofa bed providing comfortable seating in the room.We missed not having this. We felt that $3000 for a week, even overChristmas, was steep, and this alone will prevent our return.
Review 100:Loved the beach, soft powdery sand, always able to find chairs andshade. Christmas dinner at Passions exceeded expections. The staff wasvery friendly and the entire property is kept spotlessly clean. Weenjoyed our stay and would return, except for the cost.
Review 101:The staff was wonderful - from the front desk staff to the staff running the towel service at the beach - everyone was very friendly and accommodating. The standout, though, was Stefan who truly helped to make this a wonderful vacation for us! Lovely Eagle Beach is right across the street from the resort, which we had a great view of from our balcony. Food and entertainment at the resort was very good as well. We would stay here again in a heartbeat!
Review 102:The mattress was a little hard for my comfort, but I ended up sleeping on it just fine.
Review 103:Overall a great experience at a great price. I would definitely stay here again.
Review 104:The restaurant food in Aruba is on the mediocre side and quite expensive. The hotel has a breakfast buffet that is adequate, but not great. The hotel also has a restaurant on the beach. Again, adequate, but not great.
Review 105:The value was very good to begin with and we received a free upgrade to a suite. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Eagle beach is just steps away from the hotel.
Review 106:Checking in process was very stressful. Gentleman on reception very rude when I queried why the check in form indicated that I was only staying for 1 night when I had actually booked 3 nights. Upon checking, he advised that I would be moved to another room after 1 night. When I protested, he was rude and arrogant and could not understand why this would be a problem. I explained that I was only there for 3 nights and did not expect to spend half of my time moving around; particularly with no clear explanation as to why. He continued to be arrogant throughout the check in process - not a great start.
Review 107:The location was perfect - right on Eagle Beach. Room was clean and spacious.
Review 108:Hotel wasn't full, but there were always sufficient places in the shade on the beach
Review 109:Only problem was with the safe. It was fixed promptly..
Review 110:Great Staff..Super Location
Review 111:Staff was lovely. Our stay was wonderful.
Review 112:No cold running water in sinks and water temperature changes while showering
Review 113:Friendly staff, cleanliness, access to beach
Review 114:Food at beach experienced very slow service.
Review 115:Shade was always available Staff was very helpful Bed was good Very clean and staff was responsive
Review 116:Right on the beach Friendly staff
Review 117:We loved the accomodations, wonderful restaurants, pretty beach.
Review 118:Very friendly staff excellent facilities
