Reviews for Hotel Brandwood

Review 1:You have to climb up stairs before you reach reception.

Review 2:Central location. Walking distance to Glendale Galleria mall and Americana. Complimentart parking.

Review 3:I was on top floor - end of corridor - left. There is a extraction fan on the roof above the window of that room that makes a terrible amount of noise.

Review 4:Location - The hotel is close to everything you would need - and close to freeway entrances ...

Review 5:Parking isn't a lot at the hotel. It's a block away but we were able to load and unload at the hotel door. Considering the lovely weather it wasn't a problem!

Review 6:We really liked the neighborhood and our every need was taken care of very quickly. The area around the hotel is multi cultural, very clean and safe We Will defineatly stay here again!

Review 7:Bed linnens were very bad and uncomfortable. Rooms are very small

Review 8:Location is super! 10 minutes walk to Americana at brand, glendale galleria and a lot of eating places around.

Review 9:Very old hotel Need renovation No elevator And very old stairs No breakfast They reported that we smoked in the room but we didn't Parking is not close

Review 10:My room was right behind the front desk and employee office. It was after 11:00 before I could go to sleep. When I checked early the next day and explained what happened, I was still charged for the night I didn't stay. And the parking was extremely inconvenient. Also no elevator.

Review 11:The bed was very comfortable. Very nice shower. Lots of storage for clothes.

Review 12:The lack of usable wifi was the kicker I could not have any use as the signal was too weak in my room Connecting was tiresome and took too long and then unusable I could accept everything else eg stairs no elevator, noisy plumbing , aircon out of the 80's but the wifi killed it for me

Review 13:Friendly staff Rooms clean Location

Review 14:My room was somewhat small. Because of that, the bed was right next to the AC, which was a bit noisy. This affected my sleep some.

Review 15:Great location, you can walk to most of the Glendale hot spots. The room & hotel were in great shape and had nice decor. The staff was quite helpful.

Review 16:Parking not onsite. Many stairs to climb to reach room/admissions desk. Room very compact, not much room for movement. Limited parking on street and all metered spaces.

Review 17:Good restaurants near facility. Staff willing to help as requested.

Review 18:The upgraded room they gave me faced a wall from next building about 3' away from the window. This is not NY, it's LA and I wanted sunshine! They changed me to a smaller room but was worth the view. No elevator is a hassle.

Review 19:The location, decor and bed is very nice

Review 20:Because the place is old ,it has a relatively steep stairway and no elevator. The regular room( where we slept one night) is rather uncomfortable and small. Had we staid in that room my score would be much lower

Review 21:Great location. Junior suite had two separate bedrooms so we could sleep separately. great for family with kids. Super location. Hotel has old charm.

Review 22:When I arrived I was given room 101 located literally next to the check-in desk, in the lobby. When I asked for the change, I was moved to the 2nd floor, but the whole floor was being painted, smelling of paints and other chemicals. There were workers in the hallway, doing a very loud construction. I am surprised the floor was open for guests. Also parking was really far away.

Review 23:Bed was somewhat comfortable

Review 24:I did not like that I had to park about a block and a half away from the hotel when there was parking behind the hotel but not for the hotel, I did not like the steep steep stair, that you have to climb. I did not like that they did not inform you when you checked in the there was repairs going on, and the noise in the water pipe woke me up in the middle of the night and did not know what the noise was had to call and they had to come to my room to tell me what the noise was. Did not like that they cleaning staff woke me up by knocking on the door and when I answered they giggled and said oh we made a mistake.

Review 25:I liked that it was a block or two away from where I needed to go, I liked the look of the hotel, I liked the size of the room

Review 26:Although parking is free but there is not enough parking sospace if you have your own car and you are driving alone then you will have difficulty to park to check in and might have difficulty finding parking spot for overnight parking.

Review 27:Location, close to Americana, easy access to public transportation if you don't want to rent a car. Walking distance to dining and shopping.

Review 28:nothing

Review 29:The location was great. It was so close to everything we never needed a car. Rooms were very nice cozy and clean. The front desk was very helpful. Great job

Review 30:No complaints here!

Review 31:Right off the bat, the staff was so friendly and helpful with bags. Once we entered the room, it was like we were in a cozy boutique in Europe, definitely felt like we were in a different world. The beds were extra cushiony and the room was nicely updated. I would definitely stay here again. I would also recommend it to anyone staying in the area who wants a hidden gem in the city!

Review 32:I booked this place for my parents. They are in their late 60's and 70's. I didn't know there wasn't an elevator. My mom had knee problems and I felt really bad seeing her struggle up and down the stairs :(

Review 33:I like how modern and unique the rooms are. Had no idea this was here until I walked out of Jax with a friend and saw it. She also mentioned she's had friends and family stay there.

Review 34:Would have liked to bring people to the hotel but couldn't without elevator assistance. No elevator offered and hotel starts on the second floor of the building.

Review 35:Location was superior, parking was good to have in an urban setting, very comfortable room.

Review 36:Getting your luggage to the room is a real challenge to the third floor!! Off-sight parking adds to this dilemma.

Review 37:The room was great, a little tight. but we enjoyed ourselves. Close to the Rose Bowl. Free parking was awesome.

Review 38:The bed was very hard. Room was small. They required a $100 damage deposit which we didn't notice until we got there. Never saw that before in a hotel.

Review 39:Nice location downtown close to several choices for breakfast. The decor was gorgeous with beautiful furniture.

Review 40:This is an historic hotel with beautiful modern touches. Exceedingly charming, a bit quirky, and totally comfortable. Beautiful room, nice linens, great bathroom. The hotel is in downtown Glendale, with nearby freeway access and excellent restaurants and shopping beginning on the same block. Highly recommend.

Review 41:no elevator and locked doors in the back where you park. Steep stairways, especially with luggage. It's a pain. Charged $100 to your room for security. They say they refund it if the room is left in satisfactory condition, but I haven't confirmed that yet.

Review 42:comfort of the room. It was quite small but furnished well and felt cozy. Bed was great! Nice staff.

Review 43:The beds are pillow top, so being a fairly large person, it hard for me to get comfortable.

Review 44:This place is always clean, quiet, and private. I really like its atmosphere, location, and free parking, even though it is a walk up. I really enjoy the jazz bar on the first floor, it looks like it should be in a movie. Mike the bartender makes a wicked good Manhattan.

Review 45:No complaints!

Review 46:From the moment I walked in, the hotel had a welcoming, comfortable feel because of its euro-boutique style. It is quaint, and so are its rooms. The rooms had such comfy beds and baby soft linens! Every corner it had its own character and detail. Not to mention that the location was great--walking distance to shopping at the Americana! Also, on the same block of the best cuban bakery called Portos! Would stay here again. Twas perfect.

Review 47:There was no elevator and the hotel is on the 2nd floor - With very steep and quite narrow steps. Very noisy air conditioning that would constantly turn on and off. (We we advised that the unit was new). Our room was quite small and with a view of a brick wall. So it was also quite dark. Bathroom and coffee cups didn't get replenished.

Review 48:Great location, friendly and helpful staff. Newly renovated room. Easy parking (once we knew where that was!). High speed internet.

Review 49:The huge stair case that wasn't mentioned. The broke down mattress that has since cost me a visit to the chiropractor. Zero amenities close or offered. Deceptive pictures leading you to believe the rooms are average or even spacious.

Review 50:Location

Review 51:Consistently all of the staff from the front desk to housekeeping were nothing less than fantastic!! I used to travel a lot before retirement, and these were world-class great. Also the rooms were cozy and quiet and nice. The bed--I just strongly must say, I've never had a better bed at any place I've ever stayed in my life. We will be back.

Review 52:The code for the back door leading to the parking lot didn't work, so I had to continually walk around the building to the front. This made me a little nervous at night, since I was traveling alone. When I told the staff about it, all they did was apologize. Also, climbing the stairs was an unexpected inconvenience.

Review 53:The location, quaintness, amenities and cleanliness were excellent.

Review 54:As the hotel is located in a historic building, there is no elevator. However, staff offered to help carry the luggage.

Review 55:Location, nearby parking, friendly staff.

Review 56:The long staircase to get in from the ground floor to reception. The rooms were pretty cramped. No breakfast and while it's a short 20 minute drive to Grumans Chinese Theatre on reflection I'd have preferred to stay 20 mins further out in a hotel offering better value for money.

Review 57:Very little

Review 58:The girl at the front desk was not sweet...very matter of fact after we (and others) came huffing and puffing up the stairs. I worked for the Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel for many years and there is an automatice sincerity and pleasantness she was lacking. The young man was nice to help us with our bags. I have a bad knee and sciatica and I had no idea we were going to be on the third floor (above street level) or I would have looked elsewhere.

Review 59:Although you can tell the hotel was older, the rooms were quaintly redone and comfortable.

Review 60:Not much in the way of ambience! Rather tired entrance and corridors. On entry you must immediately ascend stairs to first floor.

Review 61:Clean comfortable king-size room. Obliging staff.

Review 62:No elevator, No lobby bar, no place for breakfast

Review 63:The Location

Review 64:Our second visit; quiet, clean, convenient location and also within walking distance to restaurants and stores.

Review 65:Not bad experience, just suggestion: put another small trash can in the room.

Review 66:Staff was wonderful and attentive. Rooms very lovely and clean.

Review 67:The stairs on the way up with our luggage

Review 68:The room was beautiful

Review 69:The bath tub was clogged up for a while

Review 70:The interior decoration and the bed and furniture Cleanliness

Review 71:Room was clean and elegant and the staff were very friendly and helpful.

Review 72:Comfortable and homey

Review 73:No elevator. 2 ms floor fire exit is locked.

Review 74:Parking

Review 75:Clean, Fresh, Room,

Review 76:Great Location, Great Staff and Accomodationd!

Review 77:No elevator

Review 78:I like the bed...very comfy..and room nice and spotless

Review 79:Shower, distance to get to the parking.

Review 80:Location, bed, room, hotel atmosphere, free parking, wifi, excellent t.v. with Dish.

Review 81:couldn't get signal on my phone. parking was far. no elevator.

Review 82:everything else was good.

Review 83:For the second time we had a room with the view outside our window being the wall of a neighboring structure

Review 84:The room furnishings are very nice

Review 85:Lcation. Did not need a car.

Review 86:The hotel does mot have an elevator somyou have to climb the steep stairs with heavy luggage. The parking is not nearby.

Review 87:The renovated room was nice.

Review 88:In the night I got bitten by bed bugs and I had big red spot on my face . The hotel refuse to give any compensation ...

Review 89:No elevator.

Review 90:Quiet and comfortable.

Review 91:too many stairs that we didn' known about before we got to the site.

Review 92:It does not have elevator

Review 93:location

Review 94:I found a little cockroach in the toilet, not a big deal.

Review 95:Functional, clean and well located, parking spot just in front of the hotel.

Review 96:Great location, easy walk to plenty of restaurants and shops

Review 97:All fine no gym or pool. Good value for location

Review 98:What I just marked

Review 99:Staff was professional and courteous. Location was excellent as downtown Glendale is very walkable, no car needed.

Review 100:Location is very convinent.

Review 101:It was hard to find.

Review 102:Clean rooms, nice staff

Review 103:As the hotel is in an old building, there is no elevator. The suitcases had to be lugged up and down the stairs, but there was a staff member ready and willing to help with this, both on arrival and check out. Because of the stairs, however, I would not recommend the hotel for anyone who has issues with stairs.

Review 104:The staff was very helpful and friendly. The location in downtown Glendale was great - there were many shopping and dining options available on foot nearby. I really appreciated the free parking for hotel guests. It was great to stay in a hotel that was not a cookie-cutter copy of every other hotel out there! Good value for the money.

Review 105:After walking around the city, walking up all those stairs wasn't fun.

Review 106:The Brandwood was very cozy, clean, and affordable. The bathrobes were super comfy.

Review 107:Reception starts on the 2nd floor - the front desk offers to help haul luggage up the flight of stairs - thank goodness.

Review 108:Location - walking distance to nearby office buildings as well as places to eat and retail shops.

Review 109:When we suddenly got an audition and needed to print out lines, the front desk was more than happy to help. My daughter left her charger there and they were willing to send to us.

Review 110:Nothing.

Review 111:Very good all around. Excellent style in the rooms. Super quiet, super clean, and I can't believe it was as inexpensive as it was for downtown Glendale.

Review 112:Booked for 3 nights - arrived after a 5 hr drive from Vegas just after 4pm - Booked online and specifically asked for a quiet room - given a small room, (for 2 adults 2 suitcases) with a generator outside the window. Asked to be moved, the receptionists didn't have any authorisation so had to wait for approval from the Manager who is only there from 10 til 4pm - had to wait til the next day to be moved, slightly inconvenient !!

Review 113:Very nice hotel not far from Hollywood attractions etc, good base but need a car.

Review 114:We especially appreciated the help from the reservations staff. There had been an error in our reservation through the Booking.com site. The manager and reservation staff were extremely accommodating and assisted us in correcting the problem and re-booking for our correct date.

Review 115:- the stairs.. however, the staff helped us carry our heavy suitcases

Review 116:+ the staff was very friendly + free parking which was one of the reasons we decided for Glendale + Glendale is not that far from downtown LA and rates are much lower

Review 117:You have to walk up 2 long flights of stairs, very hard to do. It takes them forever to return your $150 debit card hold - that shouldn't take so long.

Review 118:It was nicely kept up and very clean, the staff was very helpful.

Review 119:The was truly nothing I didn't like and can find nothing to complain about.

Review 120:Staff was very pleasant and always ready to help. The Manager assisted me with a problem at check-in with great sincerity and solid solutions. I was very impressed.

Review 121:I wish you had room service ...

Review 122:Very confortable bed , wifi was working perfectly without any problems and close to galleria by walking distance and you have nice coffee shop and restaurant around... I usually stay at Hilton in Glendale for double the price but now I will stay here , better !!!

Review 123:SIZE OF ROOM IS TOO SMALL. OUTDATED FURNITURE & FIXTURES, DEFINITELY NEEDS A FACE LIFT. SINCE THERE IS NO ELEVATOR, YOU HAVE TO GO UP 20+ STAIRS THAT ARE ALMOST VERTICLE SO BE CAREFULLY AND GRAB THE HANDRAIL GOING UP OR DOWN. PARKING BEHIND THE HOTEL AND ACCESSING THE HOTEL FROM THE BACK SIDE WAS A NIGHTMARE.

Review 124:THERE IS NOTHING SPECIAL ABOUT THIS HOTEL. ANY OTHER MOTEL IN GLENDALE WOULD BE A BETTER CHOICE GIVEN THE EXPENSIVE RATE FOR A BASIC PLACE AS SUCH.

Review 125:NO ELEVATOR. WE HAD TO GO UP A STEEP STAIR CASE (A BIT DANGEROUS) THAT LEADS UP TO THE HOTEL LOBBY ON THE SECOND FLOOR. PARKING IS A BLOCK BEHIND THE HOTEL AND ACCESS TO THE HOTEL FROM THE BACK SIDE HAS A STEEPER STAIR CASE THAN THE ONE IN THE FRONT. THE CARPETS ON STAIRS AND CORRIDORS ARE VERY DIRTY. THE ROOMS ARE MUCH SMALLER THAN WHAT APPEARS IN THE PHOTOS. OVERALL, IT IS NOT A PLEASANT PLACE TO STAY AT.

Review 126:Air conditioning vent outside window was very noisy and annoying.

Review 127:Very convenient location for restaurants, Americana and Galleria. Staff very friendly and helpful.

Review 128:The hotel really needs an elevator!

Review 129:Fair price for such an amazing location - only a 5 minute walk to the famous Americana at Brand! Rooms and housekeeping services were pretty good, too.

Review 130:The first time I stayed I checked in it was really late & a staffmember came & opened the back door for me. This time one of themtold me they don't give out the code until we check in that'sfine I just wanted him to come down & open the door it was late Ihad my daughter with me & are bags were extremely heavy one of themfinally comes & opens the door but while I'm checking in thestaff member was rude because I wouldn't walk to the front withheavy bags & my daughter late at night he proceeded to tell meit's a safe area. There were two of them working that night & Isaw no other guest while I was there checking inn I told him wow youshould want guest to feel welcomed but that is not what I received& I filled out the coment card but never heard anything from thehotel so I don't think they take complaints serious or feel theneed to fix it

Review 131:I've stayed there before that's why I booked it again. The bedsare comfortable. I travel to la 3 days a week from sd.

Review 132:No elevators for easy hauling of luggage, but the hotel staff was kind enough to help up and down the stairs. No views from the room as the hotel is the upper floor of a row of buildings wedged next to each other.

Review 133:Easy walk to local restaurants, movie theaters and shopping. Comfy bed, great looking furniture inside the room.
