Reviews for The Motor Lodge

Review 1:The one and only reason I did not give this motel "excellent" ratings across the board is this - there was no hot water in my room. I didn't notice because I was tired enough from driving that I only washed my hands and brushed my teeth. Staff was very apologetic and marked my final bill down accordingly. I think this was just one of those random things.

Review 2:This is a charming motel within walking distance of downtown Prescott. Welcoming and very friendly staff. The renovation of this obviously old motel building (1950s?) has been done with exceptional flair and taste. There is a porch/patio fronting every unit and, for most (I think) a covered parking space.

Review 3:Shower is small and awkward, but not something that would sway me to not stay, maybe just ask for a room with a bigger bathroom if that worries you!

Review 4:This is such a gem in Prescott! Came here from a recommendation and it did not disappoint! Staff is amazing, rooms are so freaking cute and each one is different! (Can't wait to come back and try another room) and the icing on the cake was Toonces the resident cat who hung out with us whenever we were around. Sweetest cat!

Review 5:Parking is a little tough if you have a big truck but, there is also street parking right there. Really there wasn't anything we didn't like!

Review 6:Rooms were great. All themed differently. The personal touches from the owners wonderful. Staff treated you like you were family. Wine or beer upon arriving and home made cookies on departure. Fire going at night outside. To many good things to say! I would definitely recommend coming here to get away from the traditional big hotels. Toonsie, the resident cat is a pleasure also!

Review 7:What a cute place ... groovy, fun and mid-century modern. We stayed in the Stardust room (we loved it), everything about the room was charming and fun! We just loved it and very clean!!! You even get your own garage! Don't miss driving in after dark, so many fun details. Not just a room, and experience not to miss! Joe, one of the owners, was such a sweet guy and so thoughtful, loved him!

Review 8:When we arrived we were greeted by the travel lodge and treated like we were family they offered us a beverage showed us to our room and answered any questions we had about Prescott az. I would recommend the travel lodge to anybody.

Review 9:We enjoyed all aspects of our stay.

Review 10:Excellent value, great location with nicely themed rooms. Such a nice touch to welcome guests with cold beer or wine, especially on a hot summer afternoon. Great touches such as full sized coffee pot, flat screen TV, extra fluffy towels and smiling "tug boat" in shower exhibited the extra attention the owners have given to renovating this charming property. And the fresh baked cookies on checkout were awesome!!

Review 11:Not only is the staff very friendly but the very layout of this old style motor court is in a U shape that encourages guests to be friendly and socialize with one another if you want. The cabin front decks encourage sociability as well. It's a fun place to stay.

Review 12:Impeccably clean, well appointed, and fantastic retro decor. Each room has its own deck; ours had a kitchen with sink and fridge. Easy walk to town but quiet location. Super nice owner. Pretty much my ideal hotel.

Review 13:The shower was overhead, so my wife could not take a shower as she did not want to get her hair wet.

Review 14:KIm's welcome made us feel at home. She asked if we preferred beer or wine we stated wine and she delivered two glasses to our room. Also there were cookies on our departure. It felt more like an B & B then a motel.

Review 15:I loved it, but large people might have a little trouble getting in theshower. Remember this was originally built a long time ago.

Review 16:Kim was so attentive and even let us know what to do if we came late. The bed was really s-o-o-o-o comfy and loved the fireplace! Besides that- the room was just adorably cute! It made me happy!

Review 17:The rooms are like little bungalows. It was very cozy, clean, and comfortable. The bathroom is small but worked well. It is located within walking distance of the old town. We will definitely stay there again.

Review 18:I would have preferred the bedding (sheets) were not laundered with scented soap. The bathroom was small, but we managed.

Review 19:I like the style of the place, a feeling of yesteryear. The deck out front was perfect with its 50's chairs, umbrella and table. We were greeted by Joe, who told us about the area, walked us to our room and asked what we wanted to drink: beer, wine, ect. Super clean room. Fun place!

Review 20:teeny tiny shower that will soon be refurbished--no problem, the other stuff made up for minor bathroom matter

Review 21:Super cool step back in time with marshmallow comfy beds, close to historic downtown, great hosts who were helpful with advice and input on area... Loved, loved, loved it! A highlight on our cross country trip and welcome change from chain hotels... Highly recommend and hope to return here!

Review 22:Loved the memorabilia and art about cars in our room. Also loved the decor of our room and the overall property. Most of all, the friendliest kitty cat shared a morning rub and a coffee with us before we continued on our journey.

Review 23:No complaints whatsoever.

Review 24:Loved the retro furnishings, the soft sheets and the resident cat that came in from the rain to hang out with us for a spell. The offer of wine or beer upon our arrival was very welcoming and the fresh cookies at our departure was much appreciated.

Review 25:Bathroom is small but true to motels of the 50's.

Review 26:Very quiet. Staff is wonderful, so friendly.Rooms are comfortable and the decor is terrific. Loved the deck with its umbrella and chairs.Within walking distance to Whiskey Row and the courthouse park.

Review 27:Very good internal decoration with some nice touches. Comfortable bed and very thick fluffy towels. Cosy with 2 comfortable arm chairs. Good bathroom. 2 chairs for sitting outside. Quiet at night. Walking distance to restaurants. Stayed one night but would like to have stayed longer.

Review 28:Nothing!

Review 29:Incredible personal service, great decor and personal touches! I will go out of my way to stay there again!

Review 30:Super friendly staff! Absolutely love this place!

Review 31:Our room had a very small bathroom & tiny shower. Cramped.

Review 32:Eclectic, unusual.

Review 33:Eclectic step back in time.

Review 34:My partner and I always stay at this hotel when we're in town.. Everyone is so friendly, the rooms are awesome and the beds a SOOOO comfortable!!

Review 35:This hotel was cute and quaint. I would highly recommend it to anyone in the Prescott, AZ area!

Review 36:Staff was great, rooms wonderfully furnished in mid-century furniture, exceptionally comfortable bed.

Review 37:Nothing

Review 38:It was just plain lovely Great welcome and beautiful setting.

Review 39:Very Unuque and very comfy , clean, and enjoyable. Hope you keep it that way.

Review 40:The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was spotless. Plenty of clearance under the shower head for my 6.5' frame. The cookies upon checkout were a fantastic plus. I will stay there again and reccommend The Motor Lodge to all my friends.

Review 41:Everything! Decor, warmth of Kim, reminder of our childhood in the 50's, appreciation of the historical restoration, comfort of our "cabin"

Review 42:This may not be for everyone - especially if you must have all the space and convenience of bog hotels.

Review 43:This is a wonderfully recreated retro motel that has kitschy style, warmth, and convenience with a great staff that is there to make your stay as pleasant as possible. Where else can you get classic 60's and 70's decor everywhere including the little sitting areas outside your room. We were warmly welcomed at check-in with a glass of wine and at check-out with two homemade chocolate chip cookies. Beds were comfortable although the bathrooms were the smallest I've ever seen. I loved the whole gestalt of the experience and would definitely recommend it when you are in the area.

Review 44:n/a

Review 45:Everyone was exceptionally nice and friendly. The whole place was so cute and had a fun atmosphere. We really enjoyed our stay and wish it could have been longer.

Review 46:The bathroom was rather tiny and the garage was too small for our vehicle. Having a tea kettle would have been nice, as I am a tea drinker. The only hot water would have come through the coffee maker and that would not make a great cup of anything. A spoon for stirring hot chocolate would have been handy. Also, a desk would have been nice for setting up a laptop.

Review 47:The linens, towels and bed sheets were of excellent quality and immaculate. The toiletries were upscale and lovely. The décor was funky and attractive, a nice change.

Review 48:Friendly and welcoming the minute we arrived to check in. We were offered a beer or glass of wine and then given a short "tour" of our room with a bit of history about the motor court. The decor was bright and welcoming, tasteful and obviously done with a lot of care. We were tired after a day on the road so ordered pizza and relaxed on the porch, enjoying the whimsical exterior art -- from the colorful bicycle "collage" on our porch to the cupola clock on the roof of the end unit. We hope to return in the fall when we can use the fireplace.

Review 49:Small bath but not much can be done about it and retain the integrity of the cabin. No ice and no freezer compartment in refrigerator

Review 50:Staff, porch, linens, complementary drink and cookies

Review 51:The bathroom is so small that is inconvenient, no place to put your things. We would stay again, though.

Review 52:What a fun place for one night! We loved the decor and the retro feeling. Great hosts (including the cat). Liked the "real" coffee maker.

Review 53:I felt it was a bate and switch from what I saw on the computer and the room we were given. No comfortable chairs to sit on and very tiny accomodations. Parking was very tight and the view from the porch was "blacktop driveway and street traffic".

Review 54:Clean, comfortable bed and friendly owners.

Review 55:Only downside to place is bathrooms are small, otherwise would recommend

Review 56:Rooms are great, good value and staff are extremely friendly and inviting. Good location (close to Whiskey row) and free use of bikes and cookies when you leave added bonus. Great place to stay.

Review 57:Bathroom size, especially shower needed to be contortionist to use!

Review 58:Loved the personal attention ie. beer, cookies, bikes. Room was spotless and very comfortable.

Review 59:Staff very friendly and welcoming. Very helpful with local maps and restaurant suggestions. Bed was comfortable and plenty of coffee, tea, and even hot chocolate mix in the room. Easy access to Whiskey Row and other sights. Wine or beer offered at check-in and a warm cookie at departure! What more could you ask for? This hotel was a great find.

Review 60:nothing.

Review 61:The environment esp. the cabins themselves. The retro look, design, art and comfort of the forties built cabins and surrounding court were so wonderful I thought I was staying in a museum...lucky me! The hosts were the most kind and loving I have ever met!

Review 62:No negatives.

Review 63:Upon arrival early evening the front desk offered me a glass of wine after my long drive. I had reserved two rooms one for me and a second for my teen boys. They upgraded my boys to a larger suite with two beds. After my stay they gave me cookies for the road. The motel was like a snapshot from the 60's but with updated comforts like big screen TV's. It was my favorite place to stay on my trip around Arizona.

Review 64:Because of the period of the motel, some modern amenities were lacking such as electrical outlets, no tub and no good place to put on make up etc.

Review 65:Joe was a wonderful host. We've never had such a personal touch. We loved the nostalgia of the motel.

Review 66:Nothing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Review 67:One of the most awesome places we have stayed. From the greeting of "would you like a beer or wine" to the check out was impeccable. I come to Prescott regularly and now that I have discovered the Motor Lodge my plans for lodging are only the Prescott Motor Lodge. Joe you guys have hit the Mark just WOW! Thanks again and you will be seeing us in the future.

Review 68:The location in town is so-so

Review 69:It is a vintage motor lodge which has been updated with nice, quirky decor which is modern without sacrificing the traditional charm. Staff was welcoming and helpful.

Review 70:Bathroom was very small but clean and unique use of space. Owners planto expand size in future.

Review 71:Very unique, charming and cozy with rock fireplace, great decor and useof color. Quality linens.great refurbishing of older property. Eclectic, fun place. Owners very personable, free bottled water when we headed outfor a walk and chocolate chip cookies as we departed. Free bikes to use.

Review 72:No microwave in room. Couldn't make morning tea or reheat coffee after I put a lot of milk into it.

Review 73:Cool quality updates of motor hotel. Personality! Good location near downtown Prescott. Excellent reception & service.

Review 74:Friendliness and retro items in the rooms. It was within walking distance to restaurants.

Review 75:the old fashioned feel of the room and the owner was awesome

Review 76:Owner and staff very helpful and friendly. Offered advice on where to eat and places to visit. Close to downtown historic area.

Review 77:Very friendly and helpful staff.

Review 78:Nothing. We loved it.

Review 79:Super clean, extremely friendly and helpful staff. Loved the retro look!

Review 80:Bathroom area could be just a bit larger

Review 81:Super cute. Extremely comfortable bed. Will be back.

Review 82:Everything was great. No negatives

Review 86:Staff very freidy and helful with travel tips. Glass of wine or beer on arrival Walking distance to Whisky row Individual decor

Review 87:Smallish Bath

Review 88:The retro feel. Friendly staff.

Review 89:It was a great place to stay. A complimentary beer at check in. Great nightlife only blocks away. Complimentary cookies on check out.

Review 91:Absolutely charming!
