Reviews for Hotel Durant

Review 1:The hotel overall is great, but had a flaw. The in room refrigerator is very loud in the standard room and kept me up at night.

Review 2:It's a great hotel that is located on the north side of downtown aspen. Right outside of the hotel is a bus stop that can take you to Rubey park to catch all of the Aspen buses, it is also walking distance to a lot of the stores. The hotel staff is very friendly and has a beautiful to meet friends and other guests.

Review 3:Great boutique hotel within walking distance of almost everything in Aspen! Bus/Shuttle stops, hiking, gondola, restaurants, market....all within walking distance. Breakfast was good too, pastries, bagels, hard boiled eggs, coffee & juice. The hotel is ski lodge rustic with modern touches & the rooms are small but we were expecting that. We would definitely stay here again.

Review 4:No bad experience, but actually liked the facilities better on previous visits before it was remodeled and redesigned.

Review 5:Location is ideal, very comfortable, and staff very friendly and helpful.

Review 6:Absolutely nothing I did not like.

Review 7:Lovely hotel in an amazing location. Staff was so friendly and accomodating. I would definitely stay again. Planning a return trip soon!!! A+++

Review 8:I think the price (which is good for Aspen) does reflect the size of the room- it is really small, it was hard to put our luggage anywhere, i cannot imagine staying here longer then a night or two. Breakfast was limited for our taste (coffee, hard boiled eggs, cream cheese, pastries, bagels..) and in an awkward area. Didn't notice the friendliness everyone talks about in the reviews... (if anything it seemed we were bothering the receptionist when we arrived, and there was none there when we checked out)

Review 9:Quiet & very clean room with balcony Convenient location

Review 10:Only issue was the bathroom - room 304, not sure if all rooms have thisissue? Extremely small toilet/shower room. Hard to enter and exitthe space because the door swings into the only floor space in the room- meaning you have to step into the shower to open the door . . . apocket door would have been a better choice.

Review 11:Great location, reasonable rate (for Aspen)

Review 12:We loved everything - had an issue with shower and the staff immediately addressed it.

Review 13:Location was exactly what we were looking for. Right down the street from the Gondola and the bus to Maroon Bells. Aspen is a small town geographically and we were a short walk from everything

Review 14:Wi-fi signal was awful, almost non-existent in the room. The pressure in the water taps was inconsistent and we had a few wet accidents.

Review 15:Lovely hotel, three blocks from the centre and gondola.

Review 16:Only one thing. The room was so small that there was no room to do anything in the free space such as exercise, yoga, etc. Otherwise, I have no problem with

Review 17:The staff is very friendly and helpful, so much so that any negatives as essentially cancelled out. The location is very good, next to all the central Aspen activities.

Review 18:I didn't like the fact that I didn't know about this place sooner!

Review 19:The staff were very friendly and helpfull. The room and amenities exceeded my expectations -- loved the decor. Very new and clean; small, but room enough to store belongings.

Review 20:Room was very small with no room for luggage or drawers to unpack into. Bed was stuck in an alcove with 8 inches clearance on either side. Very tight.

Review 21:Great location

Review 22:Poor air conditioning unit . Heated room in night when outside temperature in 70s . Room stuffy. Parking limited.

Review 23:Well positioned. Good size room.Clean.

Review 24:my wi-fi connection in the room wasn't consistent, but OK in the lobby. And the coffee is very thin and watery.

Review 25:Comfortable bed, location, small and intimate atmosphere, lovely bathroom.

Review 26:Crappy wi-fi.

Review 27:Location, location, location. Never having been to Aspen, being so close to everything downtown was awesome. Staff was delightful and the rooms were cozy and clean.

Review 28:Nice renovation, very close to the mountain (short walk). Good bagels in the morning. Its just a perfect location and great for couples. The only thing that you have to figure out is parking. We usually are fine because the hotel has a couple of free spaces. You have to get them when others are checking out. Plan your check in accordingly.

Review 29:The rooms are small. We didn't plan to be in the room much so we thought it wouldn't matter, but it was tight for luggage, etc. The breakfast is very continental. But there are some really good restaurants for breakfast, so not a problem.

Review 30:Excellent location. Very friendly, knowledgeable, and accomodating staff. Bed was comfortable. Very clean rooms and hotel.

Review 31:Coffee and tea service was not available in the rooms or in the lobby. Except for breakfast, it was a three block walk for a cup of coffee. Breakfast coffee was sometimes luke warm and there was no microwave to heat the coffee or pastries. These are things that are easily fixed and I wonder why management has failed to recognize this.

Review 32:The location is first rate. Just about everything in Aspen is within walking distance. Our room on the 3rd floor was very small but beautifully furnished. The bathroom was huge. The continental breakfast was adequate. Michelle at the front desk was fantastic. She went out of her way to meet our needs and provided excellent recommendations on restaurants and sites to see.

Review 33:No.

Review 34:The room is very clean. Not very big but comfortable. Hostess is very friendly and patient. Very quiet in night, we had a very good sleep. The price is good.

Review 35:Everything about our stay was great

Review 36:Very home like feel, not like you are at a hotel at all. Perfect location ans the place was very clean and organized.

Review 37:Continental breakfast skimpy. Room temperature juice and milk. Pastries lack variety, scones better. Tight rooms lacking ventilation. Tub need grab bars for safety.

Review 38:Lovely decor, great bath and lobby. Comfortable beds with nice comforters. Bravos for Florencia and esp. Cynthia. Great stay.

Review 39:This Hotel had everything we needed or wanted for our stay. The price was very affordable and unexpected for Aspen. The staff at the front desk were friendly and very helpful with dining and tour advice. The decor was cozy and rustic and the beds were so comfortable. We would definitely stay here again and will recommend the Hotel Durant to our family and friends..

Review 40:Well positioned, only a couple of blocks from the centre of Aspen. Room was lovely, well appointed with a super comfy king bed. Would recommend anytime and would definitely stay again. Was very reasonably priced which was amazing for Aspen and for the style ofaccommodation.

Review 41:Very cosy place, and tastefully decorated. We stayed mid-september (2014 which is a little off season and price was a real bargain given the standing of the hotel. I loved the decoration above the bed : a porcelain moose head that was making sure we could sleep undisturbed!

Review 42:Tiny room, no AC, No ceiling fan, kinda stuffy, no microwave, no coffee maker, poor lighting in room.

Review 43:Very clean, great staff, great location, affordable.

Review 44:Staff was very cold and rude. Parking is very limited. Light did not work in our room, bulb was corroded. Sound on TV went on and off. Very small room. Not large enough for child's crib. He slept with blankets in bathtub.

Review 45:Very comfortable bed, clean and good location

Review 46:Off street parking was limited. You can park on the street nearby but at a busy time, this might be more difficult.

Review 47:Great location. You can park and walk to everything. Room was clean and just updated. Value was best in Aspen. Check-in staff was welcoming and helpful. Breakfast was just what we needed to start the day.

Review 48:my room and others on that side of the hotel look directly into the side of a building 8 feet away. "The Stucco View" If you pay more you get a deck and view on the other side. This an old building which has been up dated. However, it's still old, low ceilings etc. It's cheep for Aspen, however, better deals to be found in Snowmass.

Review 49:the location modern up grades to the room WiFi price

Review 50:Desk clerk still checking was very rude she didn't even acknowledge my presence for at least 5 mins while she typed in her laptop. Parking facilities are inadequate, there are not enough spaces and no supervision over the way in which people pull their cars into a space leading to cars haphazardly taking up more then one spot. I had to park across the street and make sure to move my car before 8 so as not to get a parking ticket.

Review 51:The hotel is very quiet and comfortable breakfast looked really nice although I had a breakfast meeting so wasn't able to sample any of the food, Bed was so comfy and nice products in the bathroom.

Review 52:The staff wasn't very knowledgable about the area. Everytime I went to get coffee in the morning, there wasn't any in the container. The bathroom wasn't completely clean from the previous guests. We were given keys to the wrong room on the 3rd floor, only to discover that someone else's stuff was already in there, so we had to go back down and start over. I did not see an elevator. If there was one, it wasn't in the lobby area. The rooms are very small and the bathrooms tiny.

Review 53:The hotel is within walking distance of everything. The bed was very comfortable. the price was excellent compared with other area hotels. The room was cute. Parking was no problem. the lobby area and deck were both very charming.

Review 54:Would recommend not staying on the lower level and try to get an upper level room - the windows are tiny in the lower level as rooms are mostly below grade and felt a bit cave-like.

Review 55:Prime location - easy walk to downtown and everything you want to get to. Nice continental breakfast and pleasant staff

Review 56:No ac in room (not disclosed on website or on booking), booking describes room as a "junior suite" which is nowhere on the website, "free" parking in front of hotel is 4 spaces.

Review 57:Location, cleanliness, breakfast was good.

Review 58:The "junior suite" was small, and in the basement. There was a blood stain on the comforter. The heater was broken and when I told them at check out the lady said they don't service them until winter, it was 40degrees out the night before.

Review 59:Good location, quiet street. There's free parking on weekends otherwise the place doesnt have enough parking for their guests.

Review 60:Very comfortable, petite rooms with an excellent location and wonderful staff. The continental breakfast was superb. A very nice value for Aspen and you can walk to everything from the hotel.

Review 61:A great find for a busy summer weekend in Aspen. Location was very convenient, room was nice and clean, staff was kind and helpful. Also for a smaller hotel at capacity it was very quiet.

Review 62:My room was in the basement, so the view was of weeds -- they should put in some landscaping so it doesn't feel like you were relegated to the dustbin area, you know? No air conditioning. At this elevation, this is probably not a problem most of the time. Staff graciously fixed me up with a fan. Hot tub didn't seem to be available. No bath tub in the room, although the shower was very nice. Limited parking so if you come back late, you may have to troll the neighborhood.

Review 63:Very fashionably appointed, quiet and clean. Great cushy bed. Nice deck outside the lobby. Location terrific -- quiet street, but an easy walk to everything downtown. All hotels in Aspen are pricey, so this one seemed reasonable in context.

Review 64:Room was very small and stuffy, doona was thick and needed dry cleaning. No amenities in hotel such coffee making or laundry.

Review 65:Location was great, breakfast was good.

Review 66:VERY noisy. Certain rooms downstairs are under the lobby. Because the lobby has wood floors, you can hear every footstep. I didn't sleep through the night once.

Review 67:Great location, clean rooms and updated amenities.

Review 68:parking is minimal for those that drive cars. we bicycled so it did not impact us.

Review 69:convenient to downtown and restaurants. hot tub and deeper bath tubs. european feel.

Review 70:The room was small and there was no chair.

Review 71:The room was very clean, the bathroom spacious and the bed very comfortable. The lobby is nice and breakfast good.

Review 72:I wish the rooms were a bit larger with a chair or two.

Review 73:Great location, just two blocks from the heart of downtown Aspen. Great mattresses, beautiful bathroom. The breakfast is good and staff friendly. A shaded outdoor seating area facing the mountain perfect for breakfast outside or reading.

Review 74:There's not a lot of parking available. Occasionally you may have to park on the street, or around the corner.

Review 75:The location is great, close to downtown. They serve a continental breakfast each morning. Cookies in the afternoon. Always an apple, tea or cucumber water available.

Review 76:It's the 21st century. The basement dungeon room I was in had one outlet that could be accessed by crawling underneath the desk. Nowhere to plug in. Oh, and no coffee maker.

Review 77:Good location, quiet area.

Review 78:Upgraded room was a bit small and would be cramped in winter with ski outfits.

Review 79:Modern decor, cleanliness. Breakfast pastries were fresh and tasty. Comfortable furniture in both lobby and deck.

Review 80:No air conditioning. Did not like having to hunt for street parking despite the "parking on site" claim. In reality they only have 7 spots.

Review 81:Clean. Nice staff. Good location. Good breakfast.

Review 82:My husband and I stayed at the Durant over the July 4th holiday weekend. We found our room clean, with everything we needed. Breakfast in the am included cereal bagels, pastries, coffee juice. In the afternoon there were chocolate cookies to be enjoyed. We found this hotel to be a very good value for the price. We did pay extra, $20.00, a night to be on the top floor in a slightly larger room. Our friends were on the bottom floor and had a view of a concrete wall, so you might want to inquire about the view or lack of one.

Review 83:Thought the front desk woman was not very friendly & didn't give accurate directions.

Review 84:Great location. Very nice remodel. As a solo traveler, the size was perfect. I was there only to sleep - left early for Aspen Institute & returned late.

Review 85:Bedside lights not strong enough to read by.

Review 86:Nice relaxed feel on a quiet street just 3 blocks from the centre of town. We had a room with a balcony which was great for breakfast or relaxing at the end of the day. Very good value compared with some other places in town.

Review 87:No comparison to the limelight. was in basement. Lighting difficult Felt farmed out. Had I come in after 9 access would have been difficult. Quite a difference to from hotel aspen too. Maybe I have been soiled. I felt uncomfortable.

Review 88:The room was very small. Since I was a solo traveler, it was perfect. However, it would be tight for a family. The location of my room was also a bit noisy. It was under the stairs and breakfast area, so the mornings were a bit busy. For my purpose, it was perfect and I would definitely stay again.

Review 89:The location in Aspen is great. The renovation was done very well. The bed was super comfy and the counter in the bathroom is nice and big to spread out your things. I would definitely stay again.

Review 90:Perfect location - close to everything. Friendly atmosphere with helpful staff. I wasn't in the room much, but it was comfortable and clean.

Review 91:I didn't like the staff making personal calls when I needed their attention. It seemed in professional

Review 92:noise

Review 93:Location

Review 94:room was in the cellar and extremly small

Review 95:close to center

Review 96:Décor is awesome. Hot tub is nice. Location in town is perfect.

Review 97:My daughter and I were there for one night we were greeted and received a warm welcome! The breakfast was very nice. We will certainly stay again!

Review 98:Bed was to close to the walls I had to climb in from the end. Bathroom was very small.

Review 99:Location is good and staff helpful

Review 100:Bed had no room to walk because walls are close

Review 101:The Location and staff were great.

Review 102:This was my 3rd stay at Hotel Durant. I love it's location and proximity to town. It small, but very comfortable.

Review 103:No breakfast until 7/30. Not enough hooks in the room for two people.

Review 104:Hot tub! Super clean and uncluttered. Lovely staff.

Review 105:Loved the hotel room 302 with balcony Was on the corner and nice. A little noisy from the buses

Review 106:Room 103 is unusually small.

Review 107:Overall experience was good.

Review 108:The bed was very comfortable, and the room was clean and cozy. The balcony had a very nice view of the mountain.

Review 109:Staff was friendly and inviting. Location was perfect, central to Aspen city center.

Review 110:The sounds from the bus shuttle.

Review 111:Location. location. location.

Review 112:Friendly staff, cleanness of entire hotel, hot tub, comfort!!!

Review 113:nothing

Review 114:loved the staff, the bedroom and the European feel. Excellent value and location.

Review 115:Staff went out of their way to help us. Quiet charming hotel. Beds had nice linens and were very comfortable. Hot tub was a bonus Recommend highly
