Reviews for Hotel Aspen
Review 1:I loved sitting in the hot tub while it was snowing! I loved the after ski happy hour with free drinks and food. The included breakfast had all the essentials. The staff was friendly and helpful. The location was walking distance to everything. No complaints here.
Review 2:One gal at the front desk during the day, just yawned and didn't acknowledge my husband as he approached the front desk.
Review 3:Nice, hot breakfast in the morning and afternoon apres ski. Location to downtown, parking, and bus. The manager was friendly and helpful. Enjoyed being able to bring our dog.
Review 4:Paper thin walls Initial room -no veiw and cramped Little outer room gets very cold at night on sofabed
Review 5:Apres ski food Beds and pillows Breakfast Heated pool and hot tub Upgrade to suite looking over pool Front desk staff Best location for shuttle buses to everywhere
Review 6:The Location is just perfect - right around the corner there is a bus stop which goes directly to Buttermilk and Snowmass. After a long ski day you can get a free "pre" dinner at the hotel which is just fantastic. The hot tube and swimming pool is a lot of fun especially when it is snowing outside ;))
Review 7:The room was extremely hot. We turned off the heater but still woke up several times during the night due to the temperature of the room. We were woken up at midnight by a guest's barking dog. We were also woken up by the noise of the room next door. It seems like the walls are made of paper. Also the tub had jucuzzi tubes but the button didn't work.
Review 8:We felt the heater in the room was not warm enough. But they provided us with a space heater that did the job.
Review 9:The room was very clean when we arrived. Breakfast and lunch was included and free wine front 4:30-6:00. Shopping was just minutes away.Beautiful scenery!!!!
Review 10:The sound-proofing is not the greatest. Can hear others walking up and down the stairs.
Review 11:Very friendly and helpful personal. The location is great and while the facility is somewhat dated, it is clean and comfortable.
Review 12:We wanted to extend our stay for one more night and were forced to pay for a 4 bed room (although just double available)...so we moved to another hotel with reasonable prices.
Review 13:Nothing
Review 14:Well located close to the center, the free shuttle will bring you to the slope. Free after ski, foods and beverage included . Car park . Outside wimming pool available all season. I strongly recommend this hotel ..
Review 15:Original room was quite dark and noisy. Wouldn't have been as happy if I hadn't had the free upgrade.
Review 16:Staff upgraded me to a bigger suite when my room was too noisy with construction going on. Good location. Private jacuzzi
Review 17:was here last year and everything was perfect, this year some things fell into some disrepair, particularly the hot tub, general pool area could use some tlc
Review 18:great location, nice comfortable rooms, incredible value for the price
Review 19:There's no elevator so be aware when booking and packing for your trip.
Review 20:There are free bikes available for use. Pool area/hotel tub may be the best part of the property, after the comfy bed, robes in room, and awesome breakfast!
Review 21:The place to insert the key card was very dark--day or night.Illumination needs improvement or please issue a flashlight for thatparticular room.Since we had booked through Booking.com, the desk manager couldn't explain to my satisfaction why we had a different room charge for the two nights we stayed.
Review 22:Breakfasts were great! Real mugs for coffee and tea as opposed to paperwere a touch of class. Food choices varied somewhat from day-to-day. Ohthe views from the spacious dining room!
Review 23:We found the temperature of the room difficult to regulate and the bathroom was on the tight side.
Review 24:Staff were very helpful with advise and assistance when required. Location on the edge of the town centre provided for a quiet surrounding within easy reach of restaurants etc. The breakfast room was a great space and well catered.
Review 25:Nobody told me That all The streets around the area would be closed, so the access to the hotel was almost impossible
Review 26:The rooms are clean and confirtables, and the pool
Review 27:The fact that I have been fooled by the name "Hotel" andturned out to be a "Motel" and any one can walk to your roomright from the street. The breakfast is basically a frozen meals whichhas no taste, so don't get excited about the "FreeBreakfast". The smell of weed smokers next to my door even though Ihave requested a "Non-Smoking" room.
Review 28:The receptionist, the bed and free fast internet
Review 29:The breakfast was very good - nice choices, fresh fruit, pancake machine, pleasant room. Our room was spacious, with a bar with stools to sit at. There was a small sitting area outside each room also. The bus for the Maroon Bells was just across the street.
Review 30:Rabbit trail like layout of the facility. Parking was unmarked and chaotic. Hallways were unnecessarily dark and felt unsafe.
Review 31:Good location close to the Aspen Music Festival performance venues, including the Wheeler Opera House.
Review 32:The location is great, breakfast is very good. Beds are comfortable. For the same price in another town, it would be much more luxurious, but this is Aspen.
Review 33:way overpriced for surroundings. if this weren't in aspen and have the location then no one would ever pay this much. in general, the rooms are clean it just has an old feel to it and they need to paint the outside/refresh it. kind of odd too bc people live at the hotel. appeared to mainly be hotel units but did meet a man and woman that live in a lower unit.
Review 34:-good location for walking to town: shops, restaurants. -bed / bedding was very comfy -staff was nice and helpful
Review 35:The bathroom leaves a lot to be desired. It was exceedingly small and not well designed. The door swung inward and there was perhaps 5 inches clearance to the sink and toilet. Really awkward arrangement and challenging to share comfortably.
Review 36:We loved the location, the outdoor pool and hot tub, and it was surprisingly quiet. I didn't hear anything noise from our room the entire stay. The beds were also very comfortable and we were particularly happy with the pillows which were soft and seemed to be filled with feather, not hard and synthetic.
Review 37:No view. Room windowless and like a 1970's motel. Shower didn't drain, phone broken. Wouldn't give us a late check-out despite fact our room was still empty when we were leavjng. Air con useless and noisy. And price of 600 dollars a night once taxes added on was literally unbelievable. Looked like a run down roadside motel.
Review 38:The hotel was slightly outside the center of town, so it was quiet, but everything was still in walking distance. A welcome respite from the Food & Wine craziness. Staff was friendly. Pool was lovely.
Review 39:The staff was very accommodating and friendly. They helped with directions, recommendations, and arranging free transportation to the airport. Surprisingly nice breakfast and free use of the bicycles made it very pleasant.
Review 40:Great value. There was a wonderful breakfast served every morning. The beds were comfortable and rooms were very clean. I also liked the balcony off of our room. Staff was great!
Review 41:Nothing not to like here ! Hard to please if you weren't happy here.
Review 42:Great location, hot tub was brilliant, afternoon snacks and drinks were really appreciated.
Review 43:Beds were too soft and lumpy. Pillows were flat and not supportive. Front desk were grumpy or ho-hum with helping. Breakfast was adequate. Fruits were not fresh. Bread self-serve case had broken door which allowed breads to dry out. Room walls were thin. Room ceiling (we were on1st floor) was thin and we heard our neighbors TV and music, loudly. Front desk did not help when we had problems with the phone. No Apres Ski foods because ski season ended. On Monday, the breakfast was moved across the street to their other owned hotel. Had to stay an additional night and they charged me $70 above the Booking.Com rate. We had stayed 2 nights but had to add another because of a snow storm and not wanting to travel. They did not tell me until checkout that I was getting the higher rate for the extra night. The hotel was nowhere near full. Charged me an additional pet fee for 4 nights although we stayed only 3 and I had to get that corrected at checkout. Room air conditioner was old and too small for the room. There are no windows to open to allow air in at night, so we had to leave the sliding door open (we were on the ground floor), and the sliding door had no way to lock it while open. Our dog slept by the door to keep guard while we slept.
Review 44:Hot water 100% of the time. Located on Main St and convenient to downtown. Bus stop right outside hotel door. City park right across street. Mud room in front of main door. Patio area and sliding door with chairs/table for relaxing. Bedding was fresh, bright and clean. Parking right at hotel door was free for the weekend. Lots of grass and plants for pet use. Cable TV. Outdoor heated pool and hot tub. Quiet area. Microwave and refrigerator in room. The breakfast area, the food counter, and the plates/silverware were very clean.
Review 45:Too many possible fines on various aspects.. attendant at front desk sounded threatening on those possible fines and making us sign for the information given on check out timetables, fines, etc... Even a sign on a $25 fine if hand lotion dispenser was removed from room. Have never seen something like it.
Review 46:room, breakfast, location
Review 47:Kitchenette wasn´t equipped with dish, silvers and glasses, only plastic cups. No chance to dry the ski attire, because there was no device for it, like a wardrobe or something made for this purpose, especially for this type of clothes and the boots.
Review 48:The very nice and friendly staff. The hotel is very clean and the food (breakfast/afternoon snacks for Après Ski) excellent. Complementary coffee in the room, perfect. The location, close by the ski bus stop in any direction and the walking distance from downtown is quit perfect.
Review 49:Location was great without the expense being over the top. Great for a family skiing trip. Free early evening nibbles and drinks were great as was the breakfast!
Review 50:The hotel buildings were a bit out of date, but the rooms were clean.
Review 51:Good complimentary after ski snack every day (soup, tortillas, beer,wine..etc). The breakfast was nice too. We had our own hot tub on our balcony, which was great.
Review 52:Hot tub got crowded and had to go across the street to hotel owned by same owner. Watch for drunks hitting on your daughter. (not the hotel's fault)
Review 53:The staff was very nice. Great view of Aspen mountain w breakfast. Reasonable price (for Aspen). Parking near your room.
Review 54:the front desk is not 24/7, which can be an issue if you need something. All rooms are accessed from the outside.
Review 55:A nice breakfast and apres ski is included. The bathroom had excellent products for showering, etc. and the rooms did include nice robes. The hotel is in walking distance to great restaurants and stores.
Review 56:nothing was insurmountable, but the quarters were quite close, and the outside noise - meaning people right outside your door in clunky ski boots and just everyone coming/going is very audible. hotel is a couple blocks walk to town, and does not have its own restaurant.
Review 57:loved the comfy bed and quality bedding; appreciated the in room whirlpool after a day of skiing. the cable tv and Wi-Fi were more than available all the time. everything was very clean in the room.
Review 58:Noisy, expensive, close to the high way staff not friendly ultraexpensive for what you get, we were in vail in an amazing place for sameprice and now in telluride in an incredible place for less than thathotel in aspen...what a rip off!!!
Review 59:The management need to somehow beautify the facade of the hotel - it looks a bit gloomy now.
Review 60:Reasonable price for Aspen. Good 3-star hotel located on the main street. You can easily walk to any place in Aspen from here. The stop for free buses that take you to the slopes is right next to the hotel. The hotel does not look very attractive from outside, but inside the rooms are good and clean. We booked a room with jacuzzi in a patio adjacent to our room and really enjoyed it after skiing. Wifi is free with a good speed. Breakfast is included in the room price, the food choice is limited. Free beer, wine and snacks during apres-ski happy hour in the afternoon. I would definitely recommend this hotel if you want a reasonably priced good quality place in Aspen. The staff was very helpful.
Review 61:The hotel is actually a motel, with doors directly outside. The carpet is thin and dated. Bathroom is very small.
Review 62:The location was good for either walking to the town center or taking the bus to ski hills. The staff was very friendly. The hotel does both free breakfast and a small après ski. The beds were very comfortable.
Review 63:It's a motel, not a hotel. Very, very expensive for a tiny room, even smaller bathroom, incredibly lumpy bed and very uncomfortable pillows. $500 per night.
Review 64:Great Location
Review 65:The shabby exterior. The horrendous interior.the dated, small bathrooms.the fact that you either had suffocating heat..or none at all in order to cool it off,and it took hours to get from hot to cool.the people clomping in the rooms above. I tried to move after the first night to another hotel..but every where else was booked.there's a reason hotel aspen had vacancies. Maybe if you're used to a dorm this would work, but $400 + a night for this room is a travesty. What you see online is not what you get.
Review 66:The man at the front desk was nice. There were robes. The tv worked well with good selection of channels At least there were white sheet duvets and not some hideous brown bedspread which would have matched the 'decor'.
Review 67:Nothing.
Review 68:Room sizes, friendly staff, free wi-fi, spa and pool, complementary breakfast and ski après. Overall a great place to stay and would highly recommend
Review 69:The staff at the Hotel Aspen make you feel welcome and go out of their way offering ways to make your stay as comfortable as possible. (example: providing wine glasses, pottery & flatware when we microwaved a simple dinner in the hotel "breakfast/common room". We were 2 couples traveling together and this was a good area to meet & share a meal in front of the fireplace & relax after a busy day of sighseeing.) The hotel's location was convenient for walking to the John Denver Sanctuary and other Aspen village highlights.
Review 70:Older hotel/motel so noisy and our room overlooked the pool which made it worse.
Review 71:Excellent location and very friendly, helpful staff. Nice breakfast with lots of choices.
Review 72:A bit loud at night with people walking to their rooms.
Review 73:This hotel is within walking distance to great restaurants and shopping. The staff is helpful and very friendly. Free breakfast is always a plus! The room was updated nicely and was very clean. I would reccomend this hotel for anyone traveling to Aspen. What a beautiful town!
Review 74:No refund if you have to cancel
Review 75:We had a nice King room with balcony across from the park. Very comfortable bed and nice decor. The breakfast was very good with hot and cold variety in a lovely setting. Location of hotel is good within walking distance to all town amenities. Parking free and easy. Fridge and micro in room nice. Also coffee in room. I would stay again.
Review 76:We did not have a chance to try out Aspen Hotel. Needed to cancel due to weather. Tried to cancel 3 days in advance. They have a 14 day no cancellation policy which was not revealed to us until after our booking. That was bad enough to hear but the reservation person was rude and condescending. I recommend that booking.com remove them from their available hotels.
Review 77:Great location in downtown Aspen area and the off season rate was very good considering the location and quality of services. Room was nice, breakfast was good and I was able to watch Netflix with wifi.
Review 78:the property looked nicer on the internet than it really is. but it was still very good.
Review 79:The person working the front desk - so helpful and nice! The complimentary breakfast was great! quick walk to the center of town. all in all, a great stay!
Review 80:Outdoor pool, too cold outside to enjoy.
Review 81:Room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. Coffee in room was of good quality. The room had a little balcony to sit and enjoy. Breakfast was delicious and had a great variety.
Review 82:Dark hallway in front of room 220. Difficult to see to get the key in the door. Having to sign in for Wi Fi everyday.
Review 83:Refrigerator in room. Comfortable bed. Breakfasts were great.
Review 84:Was told the room was ready but actually a cleaning person came in after we checked in to clean stains of the carpet. No premium channels such as HBO etc but was not in the room that much.
Review 85:Staff was very friendly and helpful. Price was not too bad for Aspen for what you got.
Review 86:Wish the fireplace worked, but we got a free upgrade and a very good room( thank you again ) so can't complain:)...hopefully it will just get fixed.
Review 87:Breakfast, and staff Service for breakfast were outstanding.
Review 88:Air conditioner so loud we Thad to turn it off. Unfortunately we could hear the air conditioner in the room below us
Review 89:Close to town. Convenient parking Beds were comfortable
Review 90:Very small dark room for a "Deluxe King". Beds too soft and un-level. Tiny bathroom! Old Kitchen/Bar needs to be removed and/or revamped to allow more room and better use of space. Pool area left a mess after a big rain.
Review 91:Good Breakfast!
Review 92:This hotel needs an update in a real bad way. Musty smell in room. We are senoirs, thankfully in good health but given a room on the 3rd floor w/o an elevator...yikes!
Review 93:The air-conditioner was a problem. It started and stopped every seven minutes all night long and the timer was hard to figure out. Some instructions in the room would have been very helpful
Review 94:The breakfast buffet was very good. The food was good and the dining area was clean and nice. The location was great.
Review 95:Skiers hotel. Not luxury in the least. Upgraded motel 6-type place. Loud and old. Needs major upgrading. Free Breakfast included reconstituted eggs! Gross.
Review 96:Very convenient. Inexpensive.
Review 97:The pictures on the web site made it look like a bigger room and more luxurious so was disappointed in that part
Review 98:It was clean and an easy walk to downtown etc. pool was great and a very nice breakfast and room in which to dine and relax
Review 99:This room seemed smaller than it was, probably due to a small window, large countertop/wet bar on one side of the room and a tight squeeze to close the door in the bathroom. If you keep the curtains drawn for privacy, the lighting never seemed to be enough in the main living area. I'd stay there again but would ask for a 2nd floor room (But note there are no elevators)
Review 100:The room was nicely appointed, service was fine and the staff extremely helpful and friendly. The pool/Spa area was large pleasant. The hotel is on a corner of the main Blvd. but the side street is fairly quiet. For kids, or for relaxing, there are parks within a block on each side of the hotel. It's within a short stroll to the main areas downtown and shuttles stop right across the street.
Review 101:AC was so loud, it was unusable. Quality of room about the level of a Comfort Inn. High price justified only by the location.
Review 102:The location, walking distance to town center.
Review 103:This property is a Best Western that has had a facelift. The walls are still paper thin and the bathroom tiny! Your door opens onto a public parking lot so you can't open the drapes. I paid over $420 with taxes and felt rippedoff!
Review 104:The beds are comfortable with fine linens and good mattresses.
Review 105:The room was $299 plus tax, which was twice the cost of our lovely hotel in the middle of Vail Village. Maybe this is because Aspen itself is overpriced. The first room we were given was in the middle of a corridor so dark you couldn't see the lock in mid-day to open the door. This is motel NOT a hotel, and is very tired and the hallways were bare and creaky. There was not an elevator. I would recommend skipping Aspen and concentrating on Vail & Telluride.
Review 106:The staff was accommodating when I asked to change rooms. The breakfast was good.
Review 107:The bathroom and room's heat were on all the time although it was July, the AC couldn't catch up with the ongoing heat. Room's smell was not normal, we couldn't figure out where that smell comes from.
Review 108:The "kitchenette" had a sink, frig and microwave, but no dishes or utensils. Only plastic cups were provided. I guess if you stay multiple nights, you learn to borrow what you need from the breakfast room.
Review 109:Overpriced. Room was very depressing very dark and the a/c was loud. Did not have elevator. Staff would not refund money for one night which I found unfair if you are not happy with the hotel. We ended up losing 300.00.
Review 110:Very helpful staff, room was nice, a walkout style near pool. I was in Aspen for some June ski mountaineering, Aspen's 'shoulder season' (area skiing is over, music festival, etc. hasn't begun) is just great!
Review 111:Coffe pot was missing. Was not told shower only--no tub. Entry was difficult with card/key. Breakfast substantial but tired in presentation and selection.
Review 112:Great beds, location can't be beat, helpful staff, very clean. Would stay again.
Review 113:That the pool and Jacuzzi close too early.
Review 114:The happy hour and breakfast made the price more alluring.
Review 115:The hotel's proximity to the convenient RFTA bus network was excellent. The morning buffet breakfast was good.
Review 116:Staff were very helpful and could not have asked for more
Review 117:The front office closed at 11pm.
Review 118:I loved the location of the hotel along with the complimentary breakfast and dinner they served daily!
Review 119:can not think of anything.
Review 120:The Hotel was in a good location and the staff was very friendly. Good value for the money.
Review 121:Stairs to get to the room.
Review 122:Breakfast was excellent!
Review 123:My booking wasn't there. The young guy said I could have it at the same rate. Well I had booked it 3 days previous. Rude
Review 124:Good location
Review 125:Breakfest
Review 126:great facility w/in walking distance of downtown and slopes
