Reviews for Europahotel

Review 1:Didn't like the single beds pushed together instead of a double bed. Noisy in the mornings due to deliveries.

Review 2:Spotlessly clean. Modern Nice staff

Review 3:We booked a room for new years night months ahead. A few hours before we arrived, we got a phone call from the hotel telling us that the hotel was overbooked and they changed our room for another hotel. After making clear that several friends may not show up if we would not get the room we booked they changed their mind. Besides that, the room was way too expensive for what we got.

Review 4:Walkable to centre of Gent, modern room, close to the river which is lovely for the view. The staff gave us books and a map regarding Ghent which was really useful.

Review 5:N/a

Review 6:Good service and friendly employees. I was explained and advised about what to visit in the beautiful city of Gent. From the outside the hotel looks a bit like a WW2 bunker, but inside it is surprisingly modern and fancy. Would visit again!

Review 7:No kettle in the room, could only get hot water from the restaurant downstairs. no tea in the room, only coffee. Milk etc not replaced after use, nor clean glasses given.

Review 8:Comfortable beds, clean rooms

Review 9:Average room with sticky floor, furniture being moved in middle of night in restaurant below room. Thin walls with LOTS OF ACTION going on next door.

Review 10:Friendly staff

Review 11:A bit away from the city center, but if you want to to relax - ideal place

Review 12:Located in a beautiful place on the banks of a canal, lots of greenery around. Neat & tidy , descent sized rooms, friendly staff, and not very expensive.

Review 13:We were unable to have a meal at the hotel, as it was fully booked for the delegates of a on site conference and the staff were not able to give us specific instructions on local restaurants. We could not take our pet inside though he was only going to be us for an hour as he was being picked up by other family members.limited parking and the hotel did not have enough parking discs to give us which was really inconvenient for us visitors from the uk

Review 14:It is located across the river, nice walking distance to the city and well connected to public transport and other amenities. You can hire bikes and boats from the hotel

Review 15:The windows are unbelievably bad. You can hear pedestrians walking by the hotel so loud that even when they talk in a normal voice you understand every word, women wearing high heels make so much noise that you believe they are walking around the floor above you. I woke up at least 5 times during the night due to this noise. There were no free parking spots left, during the whole stay in the hotel. I don't know if this is the case every day but be sure to budget another 10€/night for the parking garage (which is very small and offers I think 6 parking lots).

Review 16:very nice staff, rooms are big and beautiful

Review 17:The set menu food provided for the evening was poor.

Review 18:Good location although our booking for double room with bath somehow ended up as a twin room with shower, although this was rectified.

Review 19:If it is cold to you - do not expect the personal to help you. This was the main problem with me. I do not know what other unexpected problems you may have which the personal will be unable to handle though ...

Review 20:Stayed at the Europa after reading reviews. Travelling by car so didn't want to stay in the centre of Ghent. Free parking a plus. Fifteen walk to tram stop and ten minute ride into city centre. A n excellent three star hotel. Large room, very comfortable bed, friendly staff. Walked around Ghent all day and decided to return to the hotel for dinner. Not always a wise move. This one was. I can honestly say that this is among the top ten hotel meals that I have ever eaten. A crown of lamb: seven cutlets, frenched and cooked to a pink perfection, with a small salad - what is it with Europeans and salad - and a large bowl of Dauphin potatoes. Wine by the glass very reasonable. Don't know who the chef is but the person is a gem. Overall a very satisfying experience.

Review 21:Easy to find, friendly welcome, comfortable room, convenient parking, good wi-fi, excellent breakfast, easy walking distance to Ghent center, reasonable price/ good value. Will stay again and will recommend to friends.

Review 22:Poor coffee machine in room, would have just preferred a kettle. A bigger range of breakfast choice.

Review 23:Helpful pleasant staff. Hotel in general. Available parking. Free wifi

Review 24:The hotel was clean and comfortable. Although not central it is only 30 minutes walk to the centre. Reception provide maps and bus timetables if walking is a problem.

Review 25:Location is a bit far. 15 min walk to sint Pieter station. No shops or vending machines to buy drinks.

Review 26:Quiet hotel inside residential area. Very good breakfast at this price point. Friendly staff.

Review 27:The location but it's ok in the end

Review 28:You'll have to walk or take the train to get to the city center but it's a very comfortable and clean hotel

Review 29:I didn't like abandoned blinds in the restaurant during the breakfast.

Review 30:Hotel located in the walking distance from the station and from the old city center. Tram and bus near by. Staff friendly and helpfull, good equiped room. Buffet breakfast with a good choice.

Review 31:Customer service was lacking in some of the staff - they appeared to forget that they were there to look after the guests.

Review 32:Bed was extremely comfortable and the room was the right temperature. Breakfast was good and the location was reasonable - out of the town a little as we were just passing through and was more convenient for us.

Review 33:Distance form centre Conflicting instructions from reception on how to catch a bus to the centre. Food was expensive for a Bistro No 'comfortable' seating

Review 34:Good bedroom with modern shower room. Wifi Breakfast

Review 35:A bit expensive but all hotels were of similar price at the specific day.

Review 36:Location was comfortable since we had a car. Wifi free of charge. We did not take breakfast.

Review 37:Pleasant staff, easy and free parking. A bit away from the town centre but very nice walk along the canal took us straight there- it was lovely to walk after a long drive that day.

Review 38:definetly need new mattresses, they were soft and hollow, not pleasant to sleep on

Review 39:nice light room over looking the river and a quiet pleasant location

Review 40:I bought a city card from them on a Friday when I arrived. They assured me it would be valid for 48hrs. I told them I would need to be able to use it Sunday. They said it would be fine. I also asked if the shops would be open Sunday, they said 'of course, it's s student City'. They lied, I was not able to use the city card on Sunday. I had paid 30 euros. Most shops where closed.

Review 41:The breakfast was over-priced for what it was. The lights in our room couldn't be activated from the bed, bed even though there were switches there; we ended up getting up and switching off on the other wall and crawling into bed in the dark.

Review 42:The hotel is located in a quiet area on a canal. Sheep were grazing on the banks when we were there! The staff were friendly and helpful, giving us directions and travel options to get to the town center.

Review 43:Price of meals in the restaurant

Review 44:Nicely located in a quiet area opposite a river/canal. Out of town, but 5 minutes walk alongside the river to the excellent tram service, or a very pleasant half hour leisurely stroll to the centre.

Review 45:Pillow was half size so not perfect but didn't stop me sleeping

Review 46:This was the perfect base for our weekend. Breakfast was nice and the hotel was clean and in a quiet location. Staff were lovely. Parking was also good!

Review 47:The pillow were not so comfortable, my neck heart next day. Also, 18 Eur for breakfast was rather expensive, you can get a nice one in the city center for half of the price. Wifi connection in the room was very weak, so do not count on it if you need it for work. It gets a little better downstairs though.

Review 48:Beautiful location, free parking, great bathroom with a tab. You can walk to the city center alone the canal in around 20 min.

Review 49:The only thing we liked less about this hotel was the breakfast. It was ok, but not that nice organized by the staff working there. They were lacking personel which led to dirty tables. The quality of the food was good, but there was not much to choose from.

Review 50:We booked a double room and it was available when we arrived. The lady at the reception desk was very nice and welcoming. The room was nice and clean, just as on the picture shown on booking.com. Also the bathroom was neat and tidy. Our room had a beautiful view on the river. The location is good as well, about 15 to 20min walk to the town center. Important to mention, the parking at the back side of the hotel is free of charge.

Review 51:I found someones sock in the room from a previous occupant and the bed wasn't a double it was twin beds pushed together with seperate duvets.

Review 52:I liked the location of the hotel and the staff were very accommodating.

Review 53:1- The manager is not at all concerned about the comfort and well being of the guests. He is only interested in making money, even if it has to generate stress over little things. Another guest who was at the hotel, saw the situation and quickly understood which was a kind of behavior/situation that could have been solved in a simple way. 2- When I arrived at the hotel, they told me that if I book at that moment the breakfast for the whole week, then I would pay cheaper. But when I went to pay at the end, another person called the manager and he wanted to explain me that, it was only possible whether it was got on the internet. Until then, it was not my problem, because that was not what they informed me earlier (It was written in my paper the discount information). He suggested then that we splitted the amount, but soon figured the girl who gave me the information, would shoulder the difference, so I highlighted him that wouldn't want to prejudice anyone. Some seconds later, he simply gave the full value to pay without the division initially suggested and that was it. So, I don't recomend Europahotel, furthermore, I won't stay there on my next visits. (to me)The staff are very good and helpful, but the manager really ruined my experience at the hotel.

Review 54:Breakfast

Review 55:When we arrived, it was very cold in the room, so I asked a receptionist, where is the problem. He went to the room behind a front desk and then he said "now it's OK". I came back to the room and there was still very cold air from heating system. First two nights we were very unhappy. Thanks God, we had an extra blanket from home. Other nights were good, couse temperature was higher from bathroom and hair dryer.

Review 56:Very nice hotel - not so far from the city centre. Big room, perfect bathroom, free parking. Design of the room was very beautiful.

Review 57:Having to change room due to water in bath and shower not being hot. Only one staff member to man bar and reception in the evening. Loss of homely, cosey, welcoming feeling that was there over the years we have been visiting the hotel.

Review 58:Location

Review 59:we missed coffee/tea making facilities but personnel was willing to give us hot water

Review 60:Whole hotel room looked pretty much like on the pictures and it was clean and tidy. I can't mention a single bad thing about the personnel, every request we had was realized promptly, with a graceful smile. Everything was as described - in other words, very good. We appreciate that even though the hotel was out of the centre, the bus stops and also a train station were quite close. We would stay there again.

Review 61:our room was located on the canal side, the location is really quiet with everything that we were expecting. To reach Ghent center town, either use the tram station 500m away (fastest) or the bus station located in front of the hotel on the next side of the canal.

Review 62:If you rely on public transport, it is quite near the railway station, but far away from the town centre. They have no bicycles available for clients......

Review 63:Clean, nice hotel, parking facilities for clients

Review 64:Very noisy even till 2 a.m. (in room above hotel bar) Staff not very friendly

Review 65:private parking on site modern interior price / value ratio (for Gent)

Review 66:The 30+ minutes walk to the old town section of Ghent became tedious after having to do it a few times, but I did know this about the location before booking.

Review 67:The parking was a bonus. The location was pretty. The room was clean, spacious and comfortable. The shower was huge!

Review 68:Lady on reception was so much friendly and helpful with all information she was really perfect. Rooms are really luxurius and bathroom too so you get really a lot for money you pay. It is located little far from city but near river and in quiet neighborhod so you get your sleep.

Review 69:Silly small square pillows not comfortable at all. Two light switches in the middle of the bed with very bright blue led's.. no good if you want to be in the dark when you sleep. But worst of all, they have conference rooms nearby and they spent hours moving furniture around at silly o clock in the morning. The noise was horrendous. Ruined our experience of what could have been a pleasant stay. At 74 euro inc taxes we could do much better !!

Review 70:Nice modern room, clean, good shower etc.. Nice quiet location opposite a canal. Looks rubbish from outside but is really nice inside. Free parking at the side of the hotel.

Review 71:The hotel was difficult to find and quite a long walk into the city centre.

Review 72:Very good facilities, clean and comfortable, with restaurant, good breakfast and off-street parking.

Review 73:Breakfast was expensive so we didn't have it.

Review 74:Spacious modern rooms and a really great price. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. 10 minute walk into centre of town or bus trip.

Review 75:Leaving our bags in a room that was accessible to the public and not locked. No (free) tea & coffee availability. Although the bar staff were helpful and gave us a pot of hot water. We felt the cleanliness of the room could have been better. Located quite far from the centre of Ghent, although the station is not too far and there are buses and trams nearby.

Review 76:Helpful reception staff. Clean reception area and toilets.

Review 77:- Operating the lights was a bit confusing, but this was a minor inconvenience and was fine once we figured it out.

Review 78:- Clean, comfortable rooms - Friendly, helpful staff - Free off-street parking - Air conditioning

Review 79:There wasn't anything we didn't like. We didn't eat in the hotel ( we prefer to try different cafes etc) so we can' t comment on the food.

Review 80:We liked the hotel very much. It's position right by a river is pleasant and it was nice to walk into town along the river. Our room was spacious and comfortable and kept spotless. There was a large bathroom and a very efficient shower and we could get British TV progs if we wanted.

Review 81:As they do not have the enough double bed rooms, but they still keep selling the double bed on the website!! I only got a room with 2 separate single bed, which was such a big problem for us. In the end nothing been arranged or give any useful solution on it.. My trip was been really been destroyed by this, As the bed made me such pain of my back and I did not sleep the whole night!!

Review 82:The Staff in the reception is fair friendly

Review 83:Noise was the biggest issue which came in the form of other guests being VERY considerate/selfish to others and noise from main road. Unfortunately the hotel is located very close to schools, so noisy during the daytime.

Review 84:The hotel was located in a quiet part of the city with fresh modern clean rooms.

Review 85:Only 15mins walk from centre of town. Free parking

Review 86:Best location, Excellent breakfast

Review 87:Close to train station. On pretty stretch of canal.

Review 88:bathroom (shower) was not clean cold room

Review 89:restaurant staff

Review 90:Bed was too hard for me. Skipped the 15.€ each breakfast. Street side touch loud.

Review 91:Nice decor, clean, modern.

Review 92:A little far from the historic center.

Review 93:Confy room!

Review 94:Breakfast is not so rich

Review 95:All are good

Review 96:Buffet Breakfast (clearly I see a scope for improvement, in terms of spread, availability and service)

Review 97:Cleanliness & Comfort

Review 98:Workers from the kitchen disturbing making too much noise and talking too laud on purpose.

Review 99:The size of the rooms and the complete service.

Review 100:Service

Review 101:Staffs

Review 102:Bed mattress could be better.

Review 103:Good location, close to tram and bus. Quiet location, next to a canal. Very attentive staff.

Review 104:plastic flooring (PVC like), not quality beds, not much attention of the personnel, cleanliness was okay but not more.

Review 105:only a small car park

Review 106:Pleasant helpful staff. Bike friendly. Clean, comfortable room.

Review 107:Staff and quiet location.

Review 108:I think the breakfast is rather over priced

Review 109:Modern design

Review 110:Just off the beaten track with quite a roundabout way to get to the hotel.

Review 111:Good welcome and friendly staff

Review 112:It was all good

Review 113:Great location only 5 min walk to train station, very clean rooms with comfotable beds.

Review 114:Lovely location by the river

Review 115:rather expensive breakfast

Review 116:Nice location, clean hotel, free parking, friendly stuff

Review 117:Thiny walls, you could hear everything from the next room.. even, the noise from the toilette..

Review 118:The staff were nice. The wifi worked well.

Review 119:Quiet location , friendly staff, secure underground parking for the bikes. Nice breakfast

Review 120:The breakfast was overpriced for a mediocre continental

Review 121:Room was very clean, spacious with good facilities

Review 122:Breakfast very much too expensive!!! Young Bar staff seemed not to enjoy their job.

Review 123:Set dinner on a Friday night. This could have been because the cycling team Garmin were staying

Review 124:Friendly staff. Good level of English. Clean

Review 125:Hard pillows, distance to city centre, but good for walking off breakfast!

Review 126:Breakfast & staff.

Review 127:we asked for a taxi and waited 1 hour

Review 128:The bed was a bit cold.

Review 129:Good service
