Reviews for Tsitsikamma Lodge & Spa

Review 1:A lot of confusion at the reception, first giving us wrong rooms then charging us for pre-paid meals, but everything was solved

Review 2:This is a beautiful location and the cabins are beautifully set up in the garden

Review 3:Incompetent staff. No people skills. No knowledge of the lodge or trails. Very poor marked trails that the lodge offer. Difficulty of trails need to be told beforehand.

Review 4:Nothing about the lodge. Only the area around it was good

Review 5:The taps don't show whether the water is hot or cold, and cold water didn't flow easily from the washbasin tap.

Review 6:Staff are very friendly and helpful and the room we had was very comfortable.

Review 7:We had a honeymoon room (upgrade?) without heater only fire. During the night the fire consumed slowly and at 4am the room was freezing. Our baby was very cold and woke up...

Review 8:Food, staff

Review 9:The Spa had no one in it for bookings, booking on booking.com total cost was R850 when we left we were charged R1150

Review 10:The room, the restaurant food was amazing!

Review 11:Toilet dirty upon arrival.....seems somebody forgot to flush. No heater in room. Had to get another one, which when plugged in, switches geyser off. Everytime you open a hot water tap, heater switches off. No wifi vouchers available because they ran out and manager was unavailable to sort this out. Hardly any cellphone signal also. Bottom of pool is cracked and needs fixing. Very few parking bays for guests and parking space is narrow.

Review 12:Great winter feel with the log cabin. Great breakfast!

Review 13:Good experience but the cAbin needed airing had a mouldy smell. Short of power as heater and water heater could not be on together. Tricky in winter!

Review 14:Large spacious cabin with lots of room

Review 15:The manager refused to provide us with dinner which was clearly indicated on our booking from booking.com. The reason was that the advertised rate was too low by mistake. How is it our fault or responsibility?? We chose the lodge because of the value deal for only 1 night that we had to celebrate our anniversary. The hotel didn't even have a working internet connection to check our booking! The manager went as far as to claim that "half board" means accommodation and breakfast when anyone who has a tiny knowledge about hospitality business knows that half board means breakfast and supper. Our biggest complaint is not about the meal which we could easily survived without. It's about shockingly rude customer service. The staff knew we have arrived to celebrate the anniversary and they chose to completely ruin it. The lodge was empty apart from 2 other people and they did not make any effort to keep the clients. The receptionist promised to email us when their connection would finally be restored and we haven't heard a single word 2 working days later.

Review 16:The manager did not seem interested thal I had a nasty fall. He also discussed this with other guest laughing about it which further humiliated me

Review 17:The general staff

Review 18:Cell reception very bad, Internet access should be free. 50Mb chunks are extremely frustrating

Review 19:Friendly service, warm environment and the meals fantastic

Review 20:Being just off the N2 it was quite noisy and for the equivalent of £90 probably expected a better standard of accommodation even if half board was included - it was one of the most expensive places we stayed in, in the two and a half weeks in South Africa but the poorest quality.

Review 21:Very easy to find just off the N2, nice buffet.

Review 22:We were just unlucky that we hit half term so the small pool was full of small children having a good time so we gave it a miss.

Review 23:The Hotel was very clean, but quirky, which we like. It would be a fun place with a family in tow as there were lots of activites for youngsters, We were only there on a one night stopover, but managed to fit in a short forest walk, which was extremely well marked and it took exactly the time it said it would. The hotel is in a lovely forest setting

Review 24:The meals were an issue , as it seemed that you had to be there early or else, what was laid out was all there was to eat. So if you arrived after masses, most of the nicer goodies were already gone.

Review 25:Location to main road - traffic noise really a pity! It would appear that we paid considerably more by booking through Booking.com as we were completely unaware of the special being offered by the Lodge as from 5th January - 15th December 2015

Review 26:Beautiful surroundings-tranquil and restful. Food very good. Excellent friendly staff. Helpfulness by all.

Review 27:Noise coming from the main road. Bad smelling and noise coming from each chemical toilette applied for each room/chalet.

Review 28:The wideness closed to nature if you are on the right side, far away of the national road.

Review 29:Not really anything but the parking booths could have been larger. It is difficult with a microbus! Although not a complaint I wish to bring to the attention of management that the set point of the geysers may be unnecessarily high, which in the first place is dangerous to old people and secondly you may save on electricity use

Review 30:The restaurant area is highly acceptable and the cabins spacious and comfortable

Review 31:Placed smelled a bit musty, as f the cabin has not been used for a long time. Very close to the road Other side of the road would be nicer No view to speak of.

Review 32:Roomy cabins Good restaurant Interesting wellness possibilities

Review 33:Hubby found it a little too bright at night in the cabin (full moon while we were there) as the high glass panes at top of the cabins didn't have any curtains or blinds on them.

Review 34:Lovely place in lovely surroundings. Loved the cozy cabins. The food is simple, great choice available and it's tasty! Staff were great, bar prices reasonable and service very good. Cabins comfortable and clean.

Review 35:nothing!!!!

Review 36:everything about this place was great - the staff was especially and helpful - also loved that there were variety of people - families, young couples and old people -

Review 37:There was a slight smell of sewerage at our cottage but we did mention it to Zak.

Review 38:James, Leon and Wilmarie were very helpful, friendly and pleasant. We requested, after we booked out, to braai at our cottage for the afternoon. Leon and James didn't hesitate to agree and supplied us with cutlery and the use of the cottage for the afternoon at no extra cost! That was priceless!\Thank you soooo much..

Review 39:Room a bit dated.

Review 40:Location, friendly staff and awesome spa bath!

Review 41:No Wifi

Review 42:The Place, the hiking trails and the cosy gardenettes and the food was quite good

Review 43:Staff are very accommodating, the surroundings are beautiful and the hike and swim in the rock pools the best!

Review 44:The setting, accommodation and the food. My wife had a pleasant massage after travelling for six hours.

Review 45:Poor lights, little dark outside

Review 46:Flat and food

Review 47:Close to the N2.

Review 48:Really friendly staff, lovely lodges, we had a great time here.

Review 49:Needs to be remodeled

Review 50:Location

Review 51:Cold at night time, especially in restaurant

Review 52:Limited resources in the room, like plates etc, cabin doors didn't close properly, not all the locks worked

Review 53:Most of the facilities available

Review 54:Everything

Review 55:Comfortable stay, with professional, friendly and helpful staff at reception. Excellent breakfast with superb waiters.

Review 56:none

Review 57:room, view, set up and the natural environment

Review 58:Fire place

Review 59:Staff, comfort, food - all awesome

Review 60:lighting needs to be more, kinda shady with lots of trees in the place esp at nite..

Review 61:The environment, forest, green mountains

Review 62:The pool was freezing!

Review 63:The setting of the lodge, beautiful surroundings, friendly staff.

Review 64:The food was delicious , rooms are well kept and clean. It is like heaven on earth.

Review 65:The spa bath in our cabin did not work, neither did the ceiling fan & the tv reception was extremely fuzzy

Review 66:The food was excellent

Review 67:Braai facilities On site hiking trails

Review 68:Nothing

Review 69:Setup of the unit

Review 70:This place is very special, so peaceful and comfortable. The people that works there are so friendly, Just what we needed.

Review 71:Traffic noise and the room needs a heater

Review 72:Comfort of the room and furnishings & electric blanket

Review 73:On the other hand, breakfast was not very good and a bit of attention needs to be given to this meal, as well as some help for the lone egg frying lady! The noise from traffic on the N2 also spoils the nights sleep.

Review 74:We enjoy the surrounding view of the forest and mountains. Supper was included in our rate and was quite a feast. The rooms are something a little different.

Review 75:Me and my Wife found the beds not too comfortable. Other than that, no complaints.

Review 76:The not-so-serious approach on the information pamphlet made you feel at home. The ambiance of the place and the walking trials on the farm next door that starts from the lodge.

Review 77:Very little. Perhaps a bit close to the main road, but not that much traffic at most times of the day.

Review 78:Location - in national park and pleasant rural setting. Design of the lodges - spacious, airy and comfortable. Helpful, friendly staff. Very good buffet dinner. Lovely swimming pool.

Review 79:Nothing.

Review 80:Fantastic walking trail along the river starting just outside our cabin. We stayed in a luxury cabin that was extremely spacious, clean and totally relaxing. BBQ facilities on our patio with BBQ packs available to order from reception. We had treatments in the spa which was great value for money and really nice staff. Absolutely loved our stay, would definitely recommend to all who are after a relaxing break.

Review 81:1.Noise filtering through from the Freeway. 2.Buffet expensive , would have liked the choice of menu. as we both eat far too little fo benefit a buffet.

Review 82:1.TV Coverage 2. Well Equipped Cabins 3. Great Staff

Review 83:The roof mounted cooling fan in the room sounds like a helicopter taking off. The young owners/managers alternatively host and hostess at the lodge appeared very angry and un-approachable. Returning a greeting seemed like an annoyance to them. My wife and I got the impression that they are very unhappy to be where they are.

Review 84:We loved the peace and quiet of the surroundings. The restaurant is excellent and the service staff is super friendly and helpful. Top class! The reception staff are a gold mine of information as to what to do/where to do it and always ready to go out of their way to make your stay more comfortable and interesting. We loved it!

Review 85:The bedrooms lacked air-conditioning and were stuffy on arrival but improved as the outside temperature dropped. We had to dine upstairs for dinner and carry our food up there. There was very little waitress service up there. The Lodge has potential but could be improved.

Review 86:The location and design of the site. The food was good.

Review 87:Room was way too hot and didn't have AC, which it should have for the price. Wireless has low time limit; again, for the price one shouldn't be restricted to 35 min. It had just rained and the nature walk was somewhat treacherous-the staff should have known this but didn't

Review 88:Food was excellent

Review 89:Garden unit 1 had a really horrible double bed that sinks into the middle and the bath towels very small for us "slightly larger" bodies and were very hard and scratchy! Also with the conference on service was rather slow.....but over all, great break away

Review 90:The lodge is so quiet and relaxing

Review 91:earlier check-in (at 12 noon) was not possible, strictly 2 pm only! An absolute no-go for us was the mould allover in the shower cabin (but not in the rest of the bathroom), this could and should be removed from time to time

Review 92:nice logcabins beautiful surrounding friendly staff sumptious breakfast buffet hiking trails starts right from the lodge

Review 93:The log cabins were a bit "dusty", dirty carpets, outdated. While a very nice location, not small-child friendly (too much opportunity for a child to fall down). Overall the entire park is getting a bit too commercial for our taste...

Review 94:Nice set-up, the log cabins, in the woods.

Review 95:Surroundings & environment

Review 96:lack of airconditioning... and not all sport channels available...

Review 97:could do with airconditioning, if only in the honeymoon rooms...

Review 98:The spa bath didn't work. The seiling fan didn't work. The dim switch didn't work. Need I say more...

Review 99:The location. Beatifull

Review 100:Stairs were broken, bikes broken, no options on the menu in the restaurant.

Review 101:The staff were amazing.

Review 102:food

Review 103:room, location

Review 104:Second time at the lodge and once again a very relaxing stay.

Review 105:Having to leave!!!

Review 106:Privacy, quiet, relaxing, trails in nature, mountain air, perfectly maintained gardens, uncrowded, safety, tranquility

Review 107:That we could not stay a second night.

Review 108:Everything!

Review 109:Beautiful design of the whold lodge.
