Reviews for Hotel Landgoed Schoutenhof
Review 1:It was too hot, no air conditioning, no fans available even from reception. The rooms in the attic must have been about 40C. Windows were open but no air came in at all. Could not sleep for the two nights due to the extreme heat. We wanted to sit outside in the evening until late, because we dreaded going back to the sweltering heat of our rooms - but at 23:00 we were told we had to go inside, it was not allowed to stay outside. We could not believe there were no fans available!! The price was 240€ for two nights (120€/night pp), extremely high prices for a 1-2 star accommodation with no ensuite bathroom (had to use toilet and shower in the corridor). Would never pay this again. The photos of the accommodation show the ground floor communal areas - which are nice - but the guest rooms are in a completely other quality category (poor). Brown 1970's bathrooms, poor quality showers etc. No towels in the room, no glass or cup available to get a drink of water. No tea making facilities. No hairdryers, no toiletries available apart from a tiny bar of soap. Dogs running loose in the back garden - one black French bulldog came over to us, and bit my friend's hand when she wanted to pat him. Why were such dogs allowed to run free amongst hotel guests? Still am completely shocked at the price of this property!
Review 2:Nice owners. Back garden was beautiful and peaceful. Ground floor was nice. Breakfast included fresh home baked bread, which was very good.
Review 3:Very clean and nice staff with beautiful grounds on the hillside
Review 4:Only issue was the double room had 2 single beds pushed together (with a big gap in the middle!!) Guess we could have asked for a different room given we were the only guests, but we were too tired!! Also, beds were very soft.
Review 5:A return trip to this hotel and the staff remembered us, even though we'd only stayed for one night a year ago! Arrived late, the kitchen had closed but they provided us with a stunning cheese platter which was much needed!! Friendly, welcoming staff, nothing was too much trouble for them. Wonderful breakfast. Relaxed and easy going atmosphere. Stunning location, quiet and tranquil with amazing views. Great that our room had a balcony. Staff advised if we were to turn up late again on our next visit we could simply call ahead and they would keep the kitchen open for us, wonderful!!
Review 6:Owner very friendly and helpful - we needed to leave the hotel at 6.30 each morning and she prepared picnic breakfasts for us to take away and showed us how to use the coffee machine in the bar. Would definately go back. Lovely village with restaurants, beautiful countryside around hotel and village.
