Reviews for Hotel Dvori Balsica

Review 1:Lots of steps up to the hotel from parking, so you had to haul your luggage. But that's what generally happens I think when you stay in old town. Worth it to stay in a place where you can walk everywhere to dine, shop and beach

Review 2:Hotel is beautiful. Located in an old fortress-type stone enclosure. View from the windows out into the sea is stunning. Staff nice, breakfast, while not a lot of variety, is situated in a lovely outside area with friendly service. Tip: follow the spray-painted 'beach bar' sign on the side of the construction site (right next door) down the stairs to a lovely Adriatic experience

Review 3:The restaurant is unacceptable. Our son got food poisoning from the spaghetti in the restaurant on the first night and we were awake all night while he was sick everywhere. We went to the night receptionist who was completely unhelpful and had no access to fresh towels and sheets. The breakfast was also not good, in some cases not fresh. Coffee was undrinkable. The reception was usually unmanned. The two women were the only two who could speak English or German that we met. I wish we hadn't eaten in their restaurant, otherwise our stay there would have been at least ok or better.

Review 4:The hotel was in the Oldtown with spectacular views of the sea. The room was actually an apartment with a separate bedroom and a living room with kitchenette. The room was kept clean.

Review 5:-no soap or shower gel in the bathroom -poorly menu for breakfast, same food every day and sometimes old fruits -too much noise from the beach in the night

Review 6:-great view -big room

Review 7:Very tricky to get to with heavy bags. We told the receptionist we had to leave at 5am to catch a bus but there was noone there when we left except a seemingly drunk elderly gent who was unable to confirm how much we owed....or probably even his own name! Wifi did not work.

Review 8:Fantastic setting at the top of old town with beautiful views of the harbour. Doormen were very helpful and friendly.

Review 9:The kitchenette facilities were limited ie no jug or kettle, no dish washing detergent or cloth to wipe bench.

Review 10:The location was excellent. Handy to local restaurants and beach.

Review 11:The staff is extremely friendly and hotel is clean and very nice to stay. It has a great view from all the windows and the restaurant has great food and service. We loved it, second time we stayed here.

Review 12:The Hotel was in the process of being refurbished, so it was almost a building site when we were there. Upon arrival, it seemed as though one of the construction workers was covering reception which didn't seem that professional.

Review 13:We were upgraded from Dvori Balsica to the Palata Venezia. The apartment was large and the breakfast was really good.

Review 14:Access was a little difficult. Internet only worked around reception.

Review 15:Looking out the window to beautiful sea views. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Review 16:Beautiful view of the sea, from our window

Review 17:Wi-fi almost absent.

Review 18:Location

Review 19:Breakfast could be better. During 10 days they served omlet... And margarine instead of butter was disappointment

Review 20:Great location

Review 21:Bad wifi, beach disgusting from trash everywhere!

Review 22:Beautiful views, nice room

Review 23:excellent location, right in the old city, amazing view, big rooms

Review 24:cold water in the morning, small hot balloon, entrance and corridor a bit spooky...

Review 25:Really nice location in the old town, view on the sea, nice appartment

Review 26:Stairs! The only way to reach the hotel is to climb a lot of stairs. We didn't know it when booking and it was difficult for the older people in our group.

Review 27:It was a beautiful location-- charming and quaint with a wonderful view of the sea.

Review 28:Superb atmospheric setting in the old town of Ulcinj - 200 feet above the Adriatic with sea and bay views. Staff were exemplary - and could provide car hire internally. Room spacious and comfortable

Review 29:While it didn't unduly impact us, access to the old town requires you to climb a long flight of steps, so people with limited mobility cold have problems. The are plans to install a lift from the base of the cliff, but I don't know when this is likely to be completed

Review 30:The hotel is in a stunning location on the ramparts of the old town, part of a converted fortress, with tremendous views over the Adriatic coast. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay, always willing to accommodate us in any way they could. The old town is home to several excellent restaurants that are well worth a visit and there are also lots of bars and restaurants available in the new town only a few minutes walk away

Review 31:The hotel looks better on the website than in the reality. Feeling of an old room. There was a little kitchenette but no pans, no soap, no dishes, so we could not cook anything. The fridge was off when we arrived, so the ice was melting and there was water on the floor which i had to ask twice to clean it.

Review 32:Location at the old city, you don't need to climb so many stairs as in other hotels.

Review 33:1)Description of the hotel is fake: the free parking is a public parking 150 steps below the hotel. You cannot arrive by car: for someone it could be ok, but why not ti declare it? 2) the hotel is not a 4 star at all: poor unsmiling staff, furniture old and dirty, no equipment in the kitchenette, no water in the bathroom, no toilette items. 3) lack of accountabity: we booked an Apartment being a couple with a kid (5 year old) declaring it in the riservation form: and we were charged 15 euro for him. I cannot understand why to pay for a kid in an Apartment, but this is me. But why not to tell it before? 4) the breakfast had no bread. Imagine the rest....

Review 34:The position on the top of the cliff is nice. But too many cons for thissingle pro: avoid it, it is a tourist trap.

Review 35:The staff was super. They were kind, helpfull and professional. Theviews was superb. The breakfast was very good. I would recommend thishotel to everyone who´s planning to stay in Montenegro.

Review 36:This is not a "fabulous" hotel as suggested in the reviews. We had a double room and it was small, the furniture incredibly dated, the bed was two singles pushed together one of which was so hard and lumpy we couldn't believe it. There was no hot water, we complained and by the next morning it was tepid but that was it. The bathroom also had a very peculiar (not pleasant) smell. The sister hotel that that actually has a lower rating appears to be much better. We walked through it and it looks to have more modern/re-vamped rooms and decent facilities. We are a very well travelled couple and we're not expecting 5 star luxery but this is one of the poorest hotels we have ever stayed in considering its rating.

Review 37:location, although noisy at night due to the night clubs near the beach.

Review 38:For people who are not very mobile, the taxi can't take you right to the hotel and you have to walk up a big flight of stairs to get there

Review 39:Best located hotel in Ulcinj Spectacular views from the room Huge, spacious rooms / apartments Great restarant next door Beautiful old building in the old town Excellent staff who are so helpful

Review 40:There are a lot of things why this hotel should not have 4 stars as it has: - no WiFi in the rooms and you have to go the reception and sit there. - Shower curtains in the bath room are short and after each shower you have a lot of water on the floor. - the breakfast is the same omelet every day. If you stay for more than 3 days it becomes boring. You have chemical juice instead of the fresh one or at least from the pack. Overall, the food quality is poor. - the windows in the rooms are very bad and you can here people walking around the hotel all night (visiting the castle). The most annoying thing is the birds which you hear every morning. There are lots of them and they are very loud. So if your sleep is not well stay away from that hotel. - there are no good beaches nearby. The city one is packed with people and dirty. To go to the big sandy beach you will need a car. - sometimes at night there are no people at the reception and the hotel is closed. We had to wait for 20 minutes to get in. - finally, the access to the hotel is difficult as there is steep climb you have to go. This was not problem for me but could be for some people.

Review 41:The hotel is located in old castle building in the old town near the sea and has great views from the windows (if you have the room with sea view). The apartments are spacious and stylish.

Review 42:There was nothing that we didn't like Superb spot!

Review 43:Absolutely amazing. Staff were fabulous. Plan ahead and put your gearfor you stay in a small bag as the stairs are fairly daunting if youhave a big case. Rooms beautifully appointed. Restaurant associated withthe hotel gives a discount to people staying at the hotel and it was thebest meal we have so far had in Europe. Views were amazing. Definitelyput this one on your list of 'must stays'

Review 44:Just be aware that you will have to carry your bags up about 50 stairs from the roadway. Well worth it though

Review 45:Great location in the old walled city, amazing views, helpful staff, good breakfast

Review 46:Romantic hotel for young people

Review 47:location, staff, cleanness, hotel, town, sea, beach

Review 48:nothing

Review 49:lack of equipment to prepare some food (no saucepan , no appliance to hot water for a coffee)

Review 50:nice view and very good location

Review 51:impossible to access for people with mobility impairment

Review 52:an unbelieveably beautiful place
