Reviews for ABLA Guest House

Review 1:Small problems with wifi, but once got it to work it was ok fast.

Review 2:The location close to the beach and train station was superb. Friendly and helpful staff, clean hotell, sufficent breakfast. It's no luxyry hotel, but neither is the price. Helping to benefit others is always a big plus. great with children, pool, garden, etc... thanks!

Review 3:The only thing we had a problem with is the overlap between the project and the guest house. There were lots of staff wandering around in white uniforms; it felt uncomfortably like being in a psychiatric institution. The reception area has that feel/look also. It's a pity because the community support project is great, but the overlap with the hotel felt decidedly uncomfortable.

Review 4:The room was very good, and the garden/pool area is lovely. The person who checked us in (sorry, forgotten your name) was lovely and very friendly.

Review 5:The staff were so obliging and pleasant . The room very big and comfortable the old fashioned decor added its charm .The breakfast was perfect with a wide variety to choose from.

Review 6:There is a kindergarten on the first floor and it can get a little noisy but we were touring most of the day time so it did not matter much. Shower was a little small and sometimes we did not have hot water.

Review 7:The staff were so pleasant! They showed us around when we arrived. Room was nicely decorated and very clean. Breakfast was decent and included eggs. The landscaping was awesome! It was close to the beach. Gates were locked at night. Restaurants close by and metro close too. It was a small, older but nice hotel and would recommend it. The price was reasonable.

Review 8:The hotel is close to the train station, but check first carefully the route. We got lost the first time & took us some time to find it - otherwise 10 min walk.

Review 9:Nice and helpful personale, clean, fresh breakfast. The hotel is close both to the local beach & to the treain station. We had double standart room: no terrace & all basic furniture. Since we were all day out, we didn`t need more & our stay was ok.

Review 10:We loved just about everything. Mostly their mission: helping those in need and going the extra mile (organising a guesthouse) to top up their budget. Very nice place, comfortable, great location, 5 minutes to the beach, 2 minutes to a shopping center, 8 minutes to train that goes to Lisbon / Cascais. Comfortable room, very good value for money. We did not try their meal option but they have one. Parking could be arranged, and they were very helpful in accommodation our needs. Wifi worked well. We would gladly come back.

Review 11:Couldn't be avoided but there was an electrical fault that meant our AC made terrible noise all our first night. However, it was quickly resolved the next day.

Review 12:Warm welcome, friendly staff and wonderful, fresh home-cooked breakfast with lots of variety. Loved having a pool and being a small guest house it was never crowded, so relaxing space in beautiful garden.

Review 13:Free WiFi - Connection really bad. Felt frustrated with it most of time. Felt irritated because I was contacting children back home.

Review 14:Overall beautiful, organized, clean, staff very friendly. I would highly recomend it to family /friends. Quiet. Staff were 110% helpful and friendly.

Review 15:Brilliant location, lovely beach a five minute walk, train station 15 minutes away with regular trains to Sintra and Lisbon. Very welcoming and relaxed atmosphere.

Review 16:The guesthouse was kept very clean throughout our stay. Great staff, friendly and always willing to help. Very family friendly; cots, high chairs, etc. available on request. Good communal facilities; including lounge room, kitchen and dining facilities, and outdoor pool and garden area. Short walk to both the beach and the train station, good location from which to explore Lisbon and vicinity.

Review 17:Location ok but a little dissapointing if like us you've come from Algarve. Room small. Building is a little clinical not that cosy, noisy from school children. No balcony on family room! Didn't think the area was as good as cascais. Wi-fi didn't work for me!

Review 18:When I first arrived I was expecting more from the reviews & price. We had just stay in Alvor in the Algarve for 6 nights for a self catering 2 bedroom huge apartment for less than what we paid for 3 nights here, so we felt a little dissapointed on arrival. But it was clean, we had a small room with bunk beds for our daughter & 2 single beds for me & my husband. There was a good shopping centre to eat cheaply & the beach wasn't far, train easily within 10 mins walk to Lisbon or Cascais. We had swimming pool to ourselves, play area for kids is used by the creche children mostly & isn't usually free until evening time. If we went back I would try & find something else in Cascais area as more convient for us. But if it's within your budget it is adequate for a short stay or a week. The kitchen they use for preparing breakfast is available for all to use which was nice if you wanted tea, water or to use the microwave.

Review 19:Nice place, where you feel like at home. Friendly staff, perfect location. Quiet place, where you can rest from the big city and enjoy surf and ocean! Thank you very much!

Review 20:The cleaness, our blanket hadnt cover and it was hard to believe it is clean.so noisy in the morning. while the maids make rooms made a lots of noise. The breakfast shrinks everyday.

Review 21:Location, just 10min to beach.

Review 22:The place to shower is very small. You need a car to stay they, which was ok for us.

Review 23:Nice people. Great breakfast. Great price. Close to a mall, good to eat at night.

Review 24:The room was a tad small for us. Parking was a hassle at times.

Review 25:The pool looked very nice, too cold when we went to swim but the area was beautiful. The room was cleaned everyday, wifi was good, the staff were super helpful and friendly. We got lost getting there but they talked us through it and stayed late to help us. The beach is walking distance.

Review 26:If you want to get touristical information about Lisboa you should better ask for them in Lisboa itself. Some of the flyers in the guest house might be outdated.

Review 27:Very clean, very friendly, very comfortable! The guest house is located near the beach, various restaurants, which are still open at late night, and the train station. There are frequently running trains between Lisboa and Carcavelos till late in the night. There is a kitchen you can use for cooking a tea or warming over something in the microwave whenever you want. By booking the guest house you support a private charity organisation.

Review 28:* various restaurants and large supermarket couple of minutes away * 10 minute walt to clean beach * 10 min walk to railway station * swimming pool

Review 29:Breakfast is not worth paying for it, barbecue place is not working, they gave us shampoo for the shower only one day over 8.

Review 30:Near to the beach and train station. Great swimmig pool. Very quiet place. Beds are OK. Room very very clean everyday.

Review 31:Breakfast was very simple limited to sandwich, coffee and some boiled eggs. Safe in the room very small. Just the size of the mobile phone and a wallet. No possibility to put iPad or Netbook (Ultrabook). The kids in the kindergarden next door are very noisy till 5 p.m. After that it is fine in the guesthouse garden.

Review 32:The best thing which we had appreciated is that Guesthouse is a part of a social institution and the money gained is spent for the noble purpose to help children and elder people. Otherwise, very simple place offering B&B accommodation. The provided room was clean and quite comfortable but lower quality than expected. The swimming pool is not big, but well maintained. The accommodation is walking distance from the Carcavelos beach.

Review 33:It can be a bit tricky to find it at first but it's not really a big disadvantage. There's nothing not to like, really.

Review 34:Extremely nice and helpful staff. Great and cheap meals. Lovely outdoor area. Close to the beach and the train station. Also, there's a small shopping centre with a supermarket nearby.

Review 35:The people at Abla are very nice, great breakfast and really clean.

Review 37:Poor internet connection.

Review 38:Location, nice staff, swimming pool.

Review 40:Nothing

Review 41:2 pools , friendly staff, daily room clean, secure parking. Close to train station.

Review 42:Very well taken care facilities, very clean and the possibility to eat your own food at their kitchen.

Review 43:the ocean, the location

Review 44:Location close to amenities. To Lisbon by train in 25 minutes. Ever pleasant staff who were always helpful

Review 45:Everything was great. Close to the beach, short drive to Sintra, two train stations nearby. Excellent value!!

Review 46:Not enough pillows. No English language tv channels.

Review 47:Good shower and room size, nice balcony.

Review 48:If anything - a small kettle in room

Review 49:Peaceful and non - intrusive but staff very helpful when you needed anything

Review 50:Everyting perfect, nice staff, free parking, free wifi

Review 51:Confusion about whether and how much booking.com took in payment. vs paying local guest house.

Review 52:Breakfast buffet.

Review 53:No elevator (to lift the baby buggy), apart from that every thing was great.

Review 54:Terrace and garden

Review 55:We liked everything.

Review 56:The pool and playground were excellent for our kids. The staff were extremely friendly and kind to the kids. The breakfast was good and cheap. The parking was very secure. The common areas were nice for watching the World Cup.

Review 57:Great location
