Reviews for Julias Pateo

Review 1:Cold out of season. Bit of an ant problem!! Also need mattress and pillow protectors.

Review 2:Recently converted from traditional Portugese homes (sometime last year), the cottages retain all of their charm, with period features and furniture. On arrival (out of season), Julia had upgraded me to a larger two bed apartment with two twin bedrooms. One important thing to note is that there is no heating in the cottages, so be prepared to be chilly if staying out of season - although Julia provided an oil filled radiator which helped to keep one room warm! My welcome (from Julia herself) was warm, efficient and friendly. She even took the time and trouble to drive me around the local area, showing me where I would be working, and the local restaurants and supermarket. The bathroom in the cottage was recently refurbished and functional, but at least there was ample hot water and a decent shower! The kitchen was equipped with a two ring induction hob, fridge, microwave and basic crockery and kitchen equipment. Don't go planning any three course dinners during your stay! The beds were basic, wth only slim mattresses and foam pillows. Bedding and towels appeared to be clean, but no pillow or mattress protectors! Wifi is adequate, but don't expect to stream movies or TV programmes! I'd certainly stay here again - though in the summer when it would be warmer! I'd also be taking my own pillows and probably a mattress protector with me too! Also worth noting that, out of season, there isn't a lot to do nearby, so eating out choices are somewhat sparse!!

Review 3:Only one cooking plate which was fine for us as we didn't need to use more than one pan but could be annoying.

Review 4:Julia picked us up from the airport as we arrived late Friday evening. As we were driving back to Carcavelos (about a 20 minute drive) she told us all about the apartment; the area including things to do and pointed out landmarks. She then drove around the immediate area to show us the nearest supermarket, train station, local market and how to get to the beach which was all extremely helpful. She was also available via email and phonecall throughout the duration of our stay. The apartment was very cute- matching red interior- with very comfy mattresses on the beds and a suitably sized kitchen for our needs. Julia had provided a free bottle of wine, bowl of Portuguese strawberries and a scrapbook with leaflets and other information in. All conveniences were a short walk away: supermarket: 2 minutes train station: 5 minutes (a train to Lisbon is 25 minutes and a train to Cascais is approx 20 minutes). beach: 15 minutes The outdoor patio area was great to eat in the sun and also to dry our towels from a day at the beach. Felt very safe, private and secure. Would definitely stay there again. Highly recommended.

Review 5:We did not like the musty smell of the place and it was very cold when we arrived . . . and did not get much better over the two days we were there - the little plug-in heaters did not work very well.

Review 6:It was a cozy little place with a short walk to the train station - which is great for visits to Lisbon. The lady who meet us at the property was very personable and her English was excellent.

Review 7:My husbands snoring :)

Review 8:Lovely host very welcoming greeting us with a bottle of wine and savouries, kindly & efficiently booked a very early morning taxi which we very grateful of, quiet location and close to the seafront, will recommend and visit again :)

Review 9:Could use screens in windows to keep out mosquitos, flies when cooling down room. It can be hot in summer without air conditioning. There is also no safe for valuables.

Review 10:Quaint spot with little rooms arranged around a courtyard. It's 4 mins walk to the train station and 8 min to the beach. There's a supermarket nearby to pock up provisions for braekfast, beer, et al.

Review 11:No complaints, although it's worth being aware that these apartments are rather small, though not unreasonably so for the price.

Review 12:Convenient location, reasonable price. We were greeted by Julia in person. She is extremely charming and helpful.

Review 13:The lack of restaurants in area and distance from the beach

Review 14:The assistance given by Julia and the outdoor patio

Review 15:Perfect location for the beach or a day trip to Lisbon - best of both worlds! Julia was super helpful too.

Review 16:One bedroom too old. Two bedroom ok. Will go back.
