Reviews for Anchorage Lofts Hotel

Review 1:The fact we had problems with the security box, heating system and coffee maker.

Review 2:Price, location and early check in. Staff reacted to problems with security box, heating system and coffee maker

Review 3:For US$200 a night with almost zero facilities, it was probably the poorest value for money stay I've experienced in world travel. Their free WiFi rarely worked and then only in the lobby.

Review 4:Location was great & staff were friendly and helpful

Review 5:It was a not a comfortable looking or feeling hotel. It was dark and dingy inside. $150 per night for this hotel is way more than it is worth! Breakfast was minimal and did not have much choice. The cleaning service did not replace the empty toilet paper and the room did not have any extra toilet paper rolls anywhere. The same was true for not leaving any toiletries for the second night and nobody could bring any to the room beacause the front desk person said that she was the only one on duty and that I would need to fetch it myself from the front desk, which was a considerable distance from my room.

Review 6:The receptionist, Shaanoia was nice but she was overworked and did not have any help.

Review 7:The facility is pretty old. It doesn't worth the price.

Review 8:Very close to downtown and the train depot. There is a storage room with lock. Staff are nice and kind, but not very efficient.

Review 9:Phone wiring was slapdash-no wall plate, exposed wires. It's a good thing phone cable is low voltage, because if it was electrical line it wouldn't pass inspection.

Review 10:It was cheap.

Review 11:The check in was not great. The king room we had booked and paid for months in advance was not available and we were given a double instead and offered free breakfast for the inconvenience. Unfortunately, the breakfast was pretty ordinary. We were hoping to do laundry after 3 weeks of travelling, but there was no laundry detergent available and no effort made to get some for us which I thought was strange considering housekeeping would have detergent! Toilet in our room kept flushing but we didn't bother telling staff about it as by then we had no confidence in their ability to fix it! Staff seemed young and disinterested. I travel extensively and have never seen such indifference by front counter staff. To top it all off they then charged us twice for the room. When we contacted them they denied this and refused to look into it even though our credit card statement showed the two transactions. Luckily our bank was able to sort it out.

Review 12:The location of this hotel In the heart of downtown is ideal for sightseeing. We walked everywhere. The weekend market was literally across the road and well worth a visit.

Review 13:Our room wasn't ready for us, but the staff really tried to quickly put us into one that was ready. We also were given a complimentary breakfast in compensation.

Review 14:The staff were very helpful and even printed off documents for our cruise because we, sadly, had forgotten ours at home.

Review 15:Lack of parking for guests, had key card problems a couple of times, and laundry facilities were minimal because several were out of order. But still enjoyed our stay

Review 16:Liked the newly redone room we had one night. Clean rooms, nice bathrooms and comfy beds.

Review 17:Lifts in building don't actually go to the levels of the rooms so at least a 10 step carry up or down with luggage. Room smelt damp and stale. Worn carpet, generally old and tired. A very long walk from reception to the room which looked out on a wall. Felt that most of the property was rented out for some kind of Government Housing scheme.

Review 18:The location, that was it!

Review 19:Rebranded Holiday Inn, but could they have replaced the grubby carpet? Our floor faced out on to sidewalk of busy thoroughfare at eye level and 6 feet away. No food in the buffet breakfast, I walked 4 blocks to the Hilton. Won't stay there again.

Review 20:My room key quit working after the first day there and the wifi kept crashing. For the price of the hotel their should have been some kind of free breakfast or at least a coffee make in the room but their wasnt. Also the pool and workout rooms were not open at all and the ice maker on my floor was broken.

Review 21:I liked that the hotel was right downtown and wishing walking distance to many things and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The food in the restaurant was great

Review 22:The night receptionist was not very friendly or keen to help. When I asked for a kettle, he said that the room has a microwave oven, and I should use it to make tea. It was a correct information, but there were no mugs, or glasses whatsoever to be used in the MW. Fortunately, I had a thermo-mug with me, but it is made of metal, so not for MW. Ended up using a plastic bucket for ice to boil water. No glasses in the room! Come on!

Review 23:It's OK to spend a night there before the flight, but not for a longer stay.

Review 24:Bathroom needs updating...

Review 25:Bed was comfy. Room was dark (minus the moth holes in blackout curtains, but on the upside it was like looking at constellations in the night sky) Conveniently located to downtown Anchorage.

Review 26:The bed was uncomfortable and everything was very short,I'm an usually tall woman.

Review 27:I liked the location. Easy access to lots of sights and the mall.

Review 28:Had late flight in to anchorage rest of trip was going to spent in Kenai 2.5 hours south. Booked for reasonable priced place and fact it was going to be short stay (1 night). Accommodation were fine and staff was very friendly and helpful.

Review 29:We actually stayed two different times, one day each time. The first room we got had a defective door lock, and had to change rooms. The next time our room had a broken tv and the tub drained slowly creating a puddle when showering.

Review 30:Location in downtown Anchorage is very good.

Review 31:It was very dirty and we were on the 3rd floor and once we got up there we had to walk down a flight of stairs with our luggage to our room and than back up with heavy luggage.

Review 32:The staff was very friendly and helpful and the location was perfect for the train ride we took

Review 33:It was an old motel turned into cheap accommodation for the local without much money and than the rest of the rooms rented out as a hotel. Location was okay, easy to get into the Main Street, but on the dodgy side of town. But wouldn't have been comfortable staying on my own there. Staff were. Ey good.

Review 34:The bed was clean and comfy, glad I was only staying for a day as very run down. Give it a 3+ score

Review 35:This hotel was disgusting. Bed sheets were dirty. Hallway to room was dark and unpleasant. The bathroom was dirty. Entrance to hotel was dirty. I have no idea where the hotel photos advertised on website were taken because reality is that this place gives a false advertisement.

Review 36:Location was outstanding.

Review 37:No breakfast on Monday? Tuesday through Saturday is an odd breakfast schedule. Staff treated us different, I think they are used to a different type of client.

Review 38:Room was clean and the bed was comfortable. I was expecting worse.

Review 39:First room window was open and no possible to close it , it opened ontothe street. Second room had no telephone so when the electricity wentout for a couple oh hours was unable to find out situation and I was notgoing out into dark corridors to check. The place overall looked andfelt dirty.

Review 40:Location

Review 41:No working ice machines on any floor besides 1st, no fitted sheet on the bed also dirty pillow case, broken phone in the room didnt even have numbers on it!, extremely small rooms!! No room service, lots of broken things!! There's a safe in the room but yet u can't use it either because it was broken.tissues were not refilled, no coffee pot in room...the price is ridiculous for that place!save your money and go somewhere else!

Review 42:Room allocated to another customer within 5 mins of arrival. Both key cards cancelled - discovered when returning from walk around town. Long walk back to reception to fix. No plug in bath - reception unable to understand - sent maintenance man to investigate - took over 1 hr and 2 phone calls to reception (after I repaired phone) to rectify. Replacement plug leaked!!!

Review 43:Location is convenient.

Review 44:Rooms photos in reservation didn't match what we finally got. Windows need to improve soundproof. PC in front desk barely connected to internet or worked at all. Smoke detector broke and was not fixed next day.

Review 45:Helpful staff, clean rooms, well located in downtown. Courtesy coffee and cookies served during day.

Review 46:Room was disaster. Under construction, had to call 3 times to get bath cleaned. Was promised 10% discount(not nearly enough) which was credited and then charged back. Terrible customer attitude

Review 47:Close to resturants and train station

Review 48:The hotel was rundown. It smelled in the room. It was in an area of town that was teeming with homeless and addicts. There were car alarms going off and I didn't want to sit in the chair because it had stains and cigarette holes in it. The window led to the street (think Laverne & Shirley's apt) and the locks were broken so it had a stick to keep it closed.

Review 49:The hotel was not far from downtown. The front desk people were friendly, professional and efficient.

Review 50:We didn't expect a 5 star hotel; however, we did expect a clean room with clean bedding, clean floors and housekeeping daily. What we got upon arrival was a room that hadn't been vacuumed, mold on the walls, dirty sheets, rust on the heat counsel, and we had to ask for housekeeping both days. Photos that booking.com has to show the hotel are nothing like what the rooms actually look like. We were told where to park our rental vehicle and the next day we had a parking violation that the hotel didn't want to pay. Would not recommend for a rat to stay here!

Review 51:My bed was not done in four of the six days I stayed there. The hotel is clearly understaffed, and some staff is not prepared to deal with public. The hotel is very expensive for the service and facilities it does not provide.

Review 52:Reception area, bits missing from ceiling. Plaster missing in variesparts of reception area. Lift real slow. Carpets old and threadbare inplaces. Beds had a wood plank type base, great for bumping legs. Foundthe reception staff unhelpful and unfriendly. Not a good advertisementfor Anchorage. This place is way overpriced and surprised Bookings.comare listing it.

Review 53:Nothing likeable.

Review 54:I was disappointed with my stay at Anchorage Loft Hotel. Parking was an issue. On two occasions, while walking to my pickup in the hotel parking lot, I encountered individuals begging for money and talking to themselves. The room I stayed in needed a thorough dusting. The bed was made nice but the matrass was uncomfortable. The wireless internet didn't work and the second floor hallway had a bad odor. I would recommend for travelers to check out other hotels in the area for better night's rest.

Review 55:The gentleman at the front desk was very polite and patient with guests. This establishment is close to downtown entertainment.

Review 56:staff in the café, bar catered to the locals, we sat there for 20 min and finally left after we couldn't get a drink while waiting on the band to start.. so we walked down the street n had a great time

Review 57:good location, rooms were clean.. overall mediocre nothing to brag about but nothing really off putting

Review 58:There are a few free parking spaces here but they fill up quickly.

Review 59:The staff did a really good job of getting us in even though booking.com never showed up as having registered us and they gave us the room for the price quoted.

Review 60:Very long, dark, hallways with irregular flooring causing stumbles. Room was dirty, undusted, with cigarette burns. Terrible beds and linen, felt slept in, no mattress pads. Adjoining door between rooms was not able to be secured - pulled credenza over to secure. No alarm/radio. Phone was missing top plate and lights. Security latch on front door had been kicked open and was hanging. Loud early morning partying. This is one scary hotel.

Review 61:Location, except for safety aspect.

Review 62:Didn't get the room booked, was to be 2 rooms, in one. The bigger room, Got a double bed room w/ fridge and microwave. There was a fire on the lower floor and the floor we were on was street level. They opened our windows and there are no screens, no locks, completely open except for wooden fence anyone could climb an step in window. This was done while we were out and not notified all out belongings at risk an no apologies from the hotel. They said they were making sure all rooms were smoke free! Just happens one family member came back a couple hours after it happened. Was not pleased that window was left open to the whole street! The pool was also not open no explanation. Parking is not adequate if not careful like us you park on the half belonging to city and not knowing it has to be paid per hour or day, you get a ticket! Hotel didn't bother to tell us this at check in and didn't offer to cover the parking fees incurred due to their negligence. The hotel security card door openers didn't work at some doors and if you are a smoker and have to go out late night you are limited to which doors to go out in order to get back in as some place at door are quite dark and feel unsafe to be standing at alone late night as a tourist. Learning that crime is high in Anchorage alone, learned don't take or wear jewelry there; another thing hotel didn't advise of or offer to give us code to safe in room.

Review 63:The location was decent and close to all the down town which had it's good and bad. You were very close to being able to walk to many attractions of the area. The price was fair and the motel was decent for the money. Staff was friendly, food delivery was available from most places.

Review 64:There isn't a computer with a printer to use in connection with internet

Review 65:Position in the center of the city, and the room is very large and confortable.

Review 66:Older hotels don't tend to bother me, but this one had a lot of repairs that really should be made. Additionally, the room just didn't seem like it was being super thoroughly cleaned: that being said, we didn't have any complaints major enough to require that we call the front desk, except that we couldn't get access to the wifi. When we did decide to call, we had to use our cell phone, because the room phone wasn't working (which, again, seemed weird but definitely wasn't a deal breaker for us).

Review 67:The staff was friendly, and upfront about the fact that they are mid- renovation. Free parking in their lot was a plus. There is a bar on the second floor that had live music the night we stayed. The location is perfect for exploring downtown Anchorage.

Review 68:Out of the 6 nights we stayed our rooms never fully got serviced. The beds literally looked like my 8 year old niece made them (not that big of a deal), they never took all the trash out, they didn't vacuum, and they only replenished the soap/shampoo 2 out of the 6 nights. They have a music lounge so expect "noise" during late night hours...midweek. I'm not one to usually call the front desk and complain but came very close as the people above us were extremely noisy at 3am. OH, and they didn't have coffee in the lounge one morning...had to throw that in because my wife is a big coffee drinker and was not too happy that they didn't have coffee makers in the room to begin with.

Review 69:The front desk staff in general were friendly, professional and courteous.

Review 70:Our room had many issues. After surveying things I would estimate thatabout $500 and 2 days work would put this room back into very rentablecondition. Our door locks did not work, no security bar on window atstreet level. No mirror in bathroom, needs new caulking in tub and alsonew tub surround. Carpets were stained all over. Tile glue on toilet lidand all over bathroom floor. Dirty finger prints all over bathroom door.Had to wipe down sink area with Lysol wipes. Avoid second floor onstreet side.

Review 71:Location, staff

Review 72:Housekeeping needs more training as does the older front office staff. Very noisy (train, road 3rd ave, construction). Painted hallway and propped open everyone's doors one day while we were all gone. Smell was awful. Nothing missing though. Lock on my door never worked so my door never locked anyway. No coffee but coffee maker never worked or got replaced so n/a :). Basically they are trying but need to charge less than $100/night til they are worth it. Right now they are worth $59/night. Good luck to them though!

Review 73:Bed was very clean and linens were the most comfortable I've ever slept on! Location is Fabulous for downtown. Room inside was clean.

Review 74:It started off bad...when we got to our room (about 10pm) the beds had not been made. I called the front desk &they said they'd send housekeeping. After 2 calls I walked the quarter mile to the desk & found the only housekeeper...I asked him if I could just get some sheets & put them on myself which I did. Also the carpet in the room felt sticky all over.

Review 75:Near the mall; bathroom clean; comfy beds.

Review 76:We got a room that was not cleaned by 430pm and too far from the reception area. We had to drag our suitcases for "miles" across the huge building and trying to avoid the mattresses an the rolled carpet on the floors. The door was not working, multiple times. We had to walk back and forth. In the end we were lucky to get another room. Keys kept not working in the other room too but at least we were close to the reception area.

Review 77:Not enough hotel parking - one has to use the municipality's paid parking lot in front of the hotel.

Review 78:Good location in downtown anchorage. Decent rooms.

Review 79:I arrived at midnight and was told my room is being cleaned I then sat in the lobby for another hour and a half. This was the worst hotel experience of my life.

Review 80:This probably won't be an issue within a few months but it was under renovation. Not a real problem when you consider the price.

Review 81:This hotel was almost half the price of a comparable hotel that we were supposed to stay in. I took 10 college students with me. We were more concerned about price than comfort but it was definitely worth the price. The staff were very friendly and entertaining at times. The location was great too. It is downtown within 2 minutes of the Saturday market and 4 minutes of the train station.

Review 82:This place was scarey the first night I slept with my gun ready. My wife would not return with me the second night .She refused to use the tub . Walking to the room doors were off the hinges mattresses standing in the hall way exit doors blocked with clutter ,dirty carpet. Second night the headboard fell off the wall While I was falling asleep . Don't go there !

Review 83:Nothing

Review 84:Where to start? This place was terrible. Spend a tiny bit more for a decent place to stay. - Noisy. There was constant parking lot noise and very loud train noises every 1-2 hours throughout the night and early morning. I could hear everything from our upstairs neighbor. - Dirty. The bed sheets smelled, carpets and chairs had stains on them, everything had a coat of dirt. - Run down. Random wall patches on holes and cracks, running toilet, broken headboard, the room was old and broken down. - Bugs. I have several bites from my one night there, I'm slightly terrified they're bedbugs given the line of new mattresses in the hallway that were set out overnight. But I definitely was bitten 6-8 times while I was asleep. - Lack of elevators. Floors were half a staircase up...so if you take the elevator to your floor or stay on the first floor, you still have to lift your bags up a half set of stairs. This is certainly minor compared to the others, but with a 45lbs suitcase I did not enjoy the setup.

Review 85:Young hotel staff that greeted us was sweet as was the woman running the adjoining breakfast cafe

Review 86:it was no promised internet. Only city's wi-fi and it din not worked. It was no towers !!!!! Only on reception they found one (!!!) tower for two people. not enough personal - only one poor woman on reception desk for a lot of work.

Review 87:parking for free central location

Review 88:The room was very dirty. There were stains on rugs, couch, walls & tub. The hotel is in much need of an overhaul. I stayed at many places on my trip to Alaska with many of the hotels in this price range but this hotel was by far the worst of my picks.

Review 89:The location was wonderful and the staff was very helpful. They stored my luggage on both my check-in and check-out days so I could walk around town without having all my stuff in tow. The location really works for someone without a car.

Review 90:The toilet flusher didn't work. Mildew stains in shower.

Review 91:The rates were much lower than the other hotels. Had a freezer for the seafood I had purchased

Review 92:Hotel was not clean, neither was the room. Beds were old and well worn in. Horrible smell in the hallway, loose carpeting, no carpeting, exposed tack strip... The list could go on and on.

Review 93:Th front desk staff were friendly in the brief moments of contact.

Review 94:no door for the bathroom the sheet not clean the curtin have burn spots no smoke alarm no lock for the door the repair workers in the corredores day and night you can smell paint all the time

Review 95:The room was disgustingly messy, things didn't work (remote, wifi, etc.) and there was a gross chemical burn smell coming in through the bathroom vent that set off the smoke detector in the middle of the night.

Review 96:The location was ok, as the town seems pretty small so it's all walkable.

Review 97:price, it was said that below 1K (on your page), I paid more. Work inside (smell of glue and other chemicals). Work outside _ I wasn't allowed to reach the hotel. No breakfast.

Review 98:Location.

Review 99:Cleanlieness, disrepair, parking availabilit, had to insert room key card several times to get it to work, darkness of hallways, just plainly overpriced for the conditions of the hotel.

Review 100:The location

Review 101:Having to leave to get my morning coffee. Construction around the building. The nightly pavement replacement in adjacent streets shocked me. Noise polution is a thing other countries consider.

Review 102:Location to down town, Fridge, micro wave. Once i got used to the one ways, access was working well

Review 103:1. Rooms not clean 2. Housekeeping staff were very short and didn't know what they were doing. 3. Room had no working lamp, it had been trashed, TV didn't work, was not clean. 4. There was an elevator to our floor but then you had to go down or up several steps to get to the rooms. 5. The bar/restaurant had poor staffing and she was not pleasant.

Review 104:The front desk staff was excellent. I felt sorry for them because they had to keep saying "we are sorry" for all the bad conditions.

Review 105:Where do I start? - always something wrong with the housekeeping: no large towels, don't empty the bin for 2 days (when was clearly full), did forget to clean the room, did not refill soap etc adequately (e.g. take away the bar of soap you used, but not put a new one) - mold at inside of shower curtain - wake-up call or something else from the lobby at 2 am which should have been for other room. I don't really have the feeling they apologised, although it was clear that they woke me up in the middle of the night - hotel almost burned down first day because of fire in laundry room (= everything is extremely old) - they start working on something in the bathroom and just "forget about it" and do not follow it up - I never had to go to a lobby so many times for things which did not work (and certainly not 3 times for the same thing) - noisy train in the proximity (no clue why it makes so much noise even early in the morning) - not really sound proof, especially if your room is close to a door in the hallway that everyone uses...

Review 106:This hotel was newly acquired and should not have opened in 2014. The premises are run down to a point where carpeting is missing in some sections. The staff is absolutely below standards. We booked a 2 double size beds rooms (3 of us) and were given a king size room. After dragging our suitcases thru a maze of corridors and going back down to the reception, we were moved to another room. This time no hot water in the sink and when we tried to use the toilet, it overflowed, flooding the bathroom and part of the bedroom. We were moved again to a room facing the railroad station with train running all night, no telephone and no hair dryer. We gave up and stayed.

Review 107:The new owners are vey nice and trying to do the best possible.

Review 108:Reception staff slightly unfriendly. Not a lot of character.

Review 109:Great downtown location, comfortable, clean, everything worked. Excellent food and beer in cafe/bar and interesting bartender.

Review 110:Rooms were dirty, old, air conditioner/heat covered in dirt and thick dirty gunk, carpeting coming up, shampoo/soap was not changed out the ones used from the previous guest was placed back on counter. Light bulbs missing in lamps and not all lamps that had a bulb worked, hardly any towels, smelly. Only thing going for this place is location. Unfortunately no other hotels available or we would have left.

Review 111:I had seen a commercial and thought it said they rooms had been redone and that they were night and comfortable the second I walked in it felt dirty, beds were not comfortable unfortunately we had to stay on a separate night as well since nothing was available and the next room the bed was so low to the ground since it didn't have a box spring, ripples in the carpet. The air conditioner/heat looked like it hadn't been used in forever if had caked on dirt and the button and switches you could barely see from all the black gunk on them. The previous guest shampoo bottles had been put back on counter as if they were new and they were not.

Review 112:Location, friendly staff

Review 113:The woman at front desk was really nice and helpful. The lobby was OK, the hall ways are kind of dark and odd smelling. The bed was excellent, super comfortable mattress, the rest ...not so good. I was surprised that they do not routinely put mattress protectors on mattresses... but we slept there anyway and had great nights sleep. Great location for downtown and if I had been into listening to music and doing a bar scene it might have been a plus.

Review 114:Plugged toilet - no staff available to fix. Desk clerk gave me a sink plunger to do it myself - not the right tool - only worked slightly. No bedspread - no extra blanket - hard thick pillows.

Review 115:Near downtown - 3 blocks

Review 116:Ice machine not working. Forgot to give us enough towels.

Review 117:Staff was very helpful and friendly. Building was in process of being upgraded (new paint, new microwave, etc.) Close to shopping and restaurants.

Review 118:Poor direction as to where everything was located, (building) to spread out. Over priced and needing cosmetic attention.

Review 119:Premium movie channel. Ability to block out the light. The offering of:entertainment, pool and purchased hit meals.

Review 120:This "hotel" would not rate a single star in the Third World. It is a travesty in the USA - dirty, grungy, no cleaning or management response. Nothing works. Checkout could not come soon enough.

Review 121:Zero

Review 122:The hotel is truly basic and nobody seems to care about what guests need. The Internet rarely works in the room, upon my arrival I could find garbage in the room from the previous guests and cleanliness is generally a problem. They don't clean the room every day or simply come over, bring some towels but don't take the garbage. On the other hand, they disturbed me when I had the "Do not disturb" sign on the door, saying they didn't see it. When I arrived, the safe in the room did not work, so they replaced it, but the new one they brought was so dirty I could not touch it. However, everybody expects tips: I asked if it is possible to add my breakfast to the final bill and the front desk lady told it is surely possible - when I went for breakfast, I was told in the most straightforward way that this doesn't work since the service tips have to stay with the breakfast lady, not with the reception. Very insulting. Moreover, the hotel is also some sort of permanent accommodation place for some strange people who walk around in socks all night, talk on the phone on the corridors and make a lot of noise. Overall, I don't recommend it.

Review 123:The location is excellent.

Review 124:The room was very old and the furniture very worn, but, it was clean and comfortable and I would recommend it .

Review 125:Location was brilliant . The rooms clean and spacious . Good value for money. Staff were friendly.

Review 126:The internet access is completely unstable, I had to go to the nearest starbucks (2 blocks away) or the Hilton hotel to get a decent internet access. The room has no light curtains (only the dark blinds) and I was on the side right on the street, so people passing by could see inside the room. Very unconfortable. There are not enough electrical power access, so I had to unplug the lamp to connect my laptop and phone. Not to mention, the desk was broken (a leg fell). Finally, I found a bug on my bed the morning after my first night. Not worth the $250/night they charged. I am not staying there again.

Review 127:The people at the front desk were always very nice to make my life easier. They have great attitude to help guests.

Review 128:NOISY heating system.

Review 129:Comfortable beds!

Review 130:Buffet breakfast ends too early, and it is something similar to a fast-food menu.

Review 131:Just downtown.

Review 132:Needs Reno to all rooms. Better hot water. Stain and urathan all over my rental car had to buy razor blade and scrape windows.

Review 133:Bar with live music

Review 134:Old, not quite clean, late breakfast

Review 135:Good location

Review 136:They didn't know what rooms were vacant. Walked in on 3 other guest at 2am. Overcrowded parking lot, had to squeeze through vehicles.

Review 137:Nice room

Review 138:At 1:30 am the smoke alarm went off because someone with a hot plate burned food.
