Reviews for Da Vinci Hotel

Review 1:The room wasn't spacious. But its definitely worth it.

Review 2:I really enjoyed the location of the hotel. We stayed in the fifth floor room 501 and the staff was great. You have a subway on 57th and 7th ave and it will take you downtown to time square. Overall we loved are stay. Thanks.

Review 3:Amazing! Everything was just perfect including room, Restaurant/bar, location and value. We can't say enough about how much we enjoyed our stay. The management and staff made our trip one to remember forever and we can't wait to return.

Review 4:Someday no hot water and they don't even apologise. The staff just doesn't give a shift and I am not sure that the cleaning service was really existing. And we have been woke up to times by the heaters too noisy.

Review 5:The only good thing about this hotel was the location.

Review 6:No coffee machine in room & hot water only available at breakfast time. Gas heater being turned on without my knowledge & no instructions how to turn it off (we don't have these at home).

Review 7:Location close enough to all the popular NYC spots like Times Square & Broadway but far enough away for no noise. Clean room with comfy bed, refrigerator & good sized bathroom. Would definitely stay here again!!

Review 8:Heating could be unpredictable, but we were loaned a supplemtary heater.

Review 9:Excellent location, great for walking to the key sights or using the Metro. Great staff with 24 hour reception. We intend to use this Hotel again ;o) If arriving from JFK, use LIRR to Penn then Metro to Columbus Circle .. Hotel only 5 minutes walk .. We used a taxi from Penn and it took half an hour and cost $30 ... Won't make that mistake again.

Review 10:bed was uncomfortable. view from room was ugly and the window shades were broken. curtains were long enough to cover the window though.

Review 11:Location was great. Room was clean.

Review 12:We were charged 110.00 for parking in the garage that was recommended to us by the hotel. Basically they didn't speak English charged us a 3 day rate instead of two and gave us nothing but a hard time for two days while we were trying to get our vehicle out. The hotel was close to 300.00 to stay for a small room and cold water. Restaurant very overpriced and waiter was very rude. The bartender gave away drinks but when I asked for the same after. Spending 70 on a plate of spaghetti and 2 drinks I was told it was 8.00 a shot.

Review 13:Daytime staff was nice

Review 14:The bathroom with the rusty tub and erratic plumbing, the long narrow corridors , and the tiny windows that made the room feel claustrophobic.

Review 15:The price.

Review 16:I would of liked to of had coffee making facilities, there was a old used Elastoplast on bathroom floor.

Review 17:The position of the hotel was great, I liked the fact that it was a little old fashioned as that's a great side of New York.

Review 18:Staff needs to be trained how to SMILE...To let them know that it's FREE... Especially the night when we checked in that we're tired and exhausted jA simple Smile in somebody's face will be enough... And also at least a porter to help us to bring our lugagges to the room.

Review 19:The location very accessible to amenities

Review 20:location was fabulous, restaurant downstairs was lovely, & the European type setting of the hotel was so pretty !!!! loved it all !!!! we will be back !!!

Review 21:I missed having a bathtub.

Review 22:The location was excellent. The staff was accommodating. The bed was comfy. The ambiance was lovely. I liked the high ceilings and the large windows. The decorative molding was also a plus. The street view was a pleasure.

Review 23:There is no luggage storage and you have to leave suitcases in the main hall without even a cord that holds them or a card with your name so they can check it is yours.

Review 24:The location is amazing and price valuable for what you need in New York. Confortable bed and good air conditioner. Im not sure if it has heater but the hotel is quite warm. Good internet and housekeeping.

Review 25:No bad experiences. The room faced the street and therefore was not as quiet as an inner room. A persistent drip in the shower needed attention, and the shower diverter didn't seem to work, so if one wanted to fill the tub it was necessary to fill it via the shower.

Review 26:The hotel is basic; not luxurious. Staff were pleasant and helpful. The room was large and attractively decorated, and the bed was comfortable. The hotel is in a very convenient location for many NY attractions, including the theater district and Lincoln Center. There are many restaurants and shops nearby; public transit is easily accessible.

Review 27:Noise in bedroom from neighboring AC fans, Hotel changed rooms for us but only marginal improvement. Bought earplugs at nearby pharmacy and had good sleeps after that (Beds were comfortable).

Review 28:Excellent central location for Central Park, Times Square and metro stations. Good restaurants nearby.

Review 29:Breakfast is in the small lobby of Hotel (just coffe or tea with cakes) and there are not enough seats for that.

Review 30:Hotel is near the lovely Central Park and major attractions. A small, nice and cozy place. Staff is cute and helpfull.

Review 31:Room needs some work; loose electrical outlets, hole in bathroom wall covered by paper Windows don't block street noise very well

Review 32:Great location near Central Park Nice to have something for breakfast, but lots of places nearby if you want something more substantial Massive room

Review 33:Thin walls and doors, could hear TV and etc while in hallway. Also hotel was remodeling others rooms on our floor which made it difficult to access elevator, which should entitle us for discount on room charges.

Review 34:Location was ideal.

Review 35:Noise in the room due to big airconditioning fans of McDonalds restaurant which is next door

Review 36:Fantastic location, just few minutes walk from Central Park and ten minutes to Times Sqare

Review 37:No view from the window. Even when AC wasn't on, there were a little bit windy in the room.

Review 38:Suprisingly big room with nice clean bathroom. Bed was very comfortable, furniture was new. Price for the room was pleasingly reasonable.

Review 39:Our room had a rather noisy air conditioner and the surrounding area is pretty shabby.

Review 40:Great location for bars, eateries, small supermarkets in the Hells Kitchen area of NYC and yet still only 10-15 minutes walk from Times Square and the subway system. Suited us fine.

Review 41:The hotel is old and dirty. Room very small and dirty. You can find better hotels for the same price even in a better location. Will not stay there again.

Review 42:Nothing except the location If i could rate it lower i would

Review 43:Was expensive for such a small room that had been patched up maintenance wise and no airport transfers.

Review 44:Location was brilliant, most staff very helpful

Review 45:The staff was not very accommodating, cleanliness of shower not good enough (mold in the corners of the tub), breakfast poor and in inappropriate environment in the lobby (why do not make agreement with a restaurant in the basement?)

Review 46:The location is excelent, 5 minutes walk from Central park. The size of building suitable for me, I was looking for smaller hotel. Very good restaurant in the basement.

Review 47:The rooms facing street are going to be more noisy, but I imagine if you stay in a room on the interior, it would be very quiet.

Review 48:THe staff, and the European decor of the place. Continental breakfast, and they gave us good directions to places in NY city.

Review 49:We needed a place to stay on a short notice and this one had a great location and wasn't very expensive compared to others. Our room had 2 queen size beds, so it could easily acomodate a third, or even a fourth person if you don't need much comfort. The room had a window but the sight wasn't very pleasant. I guess that's usual in New York though. The staff was great and the location is perfect. It was a nice stay.

Review 50:They have a leaking on the main entrance but they do everything to make it easy on you and avoid the mess. It took a while to fix, like 4 days

Review 51:Friendly staff and the location was great, specially if you are a walker, is close to main attractions and easy to find

Review 52:Rooms were a little dated and could use a touch up

Review 53:Great location and excellent price for a hotel in Manhattan. It's exactly what I was looking for: an affordable room in a clean secure local hotel. I would certainly stay again.

Review 54:It was great for the price and location

Review 55:The location was amazing and it was good to have room service too. Value for money is incredible. The staff were very accommodating and allowed me to pay extra for a late check-out (only $50).

Review 56:Our room could have done with new carpet - otherwise the room was good for the money.

Review 57:Location - close to everything, good Wifi speed from our room. Good value for money for location.

Review 58:The building was in desrepair: leaking ceilings, elevator issues, carpet in room was horribly dirty, very old building

Review 59:Location put me close to everything

Review 60:Great location so close to the park, Broadway, restaurants and subway stations. Room felt like home with a comfy bed and a nice small bathroom. Staff were helpful on our requests. Room was always cleaned daily even if it didn't need to be.

Review 61:Many of the negatives mentioned in some reviews could be avoided or remedied with a few words or written instructions at check-in describing the operation of the air conditioning, the location of the frig, etc.

Review 62:The location was perfect and the staff and food at Joe G.'s, the affiliated Italian restaurant, transformed the DaVinci from a welcome value-minded choice to a truly remarkable experience.

Review 63:hard for cab drivers to find place, small room, the bed was so soft that laying down the blood rushed to our heads and we had to turn around and sleep the other way. Once turned around we slept really well.

Review 64:Very nice staff, clean, good aircon and fast Internet! Most things was really good!

Review 65:The bed!!! They should change the mattress log time ago, it is sounconfortable! The bed is already worn and torn, no support on bothsides and higher at the center, the mattress is uneven inside and youfeel it when you sleep, it is so hard to get a comfortable feel and allwe need is a good sleep for the next day!

Review 66:Location, cleanness, wifi, staff very friendly

Review 67:The room was very very small. Only the bed was fitting there. The wifi was not working. There was a phone in the room, but it was not connected. There was no where to connect it. The shower was awful. the water was going in all directions. 200$ for that??

Review 68:It was clean, and the location was good.

Review 69:The mattress was a little on the lumpy side. It might be time to replace it! And the pillows were kind of hard. But otherwise the room was nice, and bigger than some I've seen in NY.

Review 70:The staff was very helpful, and the room and bathroom were very clean. The location was good, very close to public transport and places to eat.

Review 71:Facilities were a little basic - but at least it was clean & reliable.

Review 72:Accommodating staff. Excellent location- just the right distance from Central Park, Sightseeing & Time Square.

Review 73:The hotel could improve their light breakfast by placing a toaster oven and/or a microwave in the lobby to allow guest to warm their rolls and croisaunnt or warm their milk.,

Review 74:The location, and the desk assistance

Review 75:cockroach at hallway :( Don't choose a breakfast at a hotel, better go out to some of nearby cafes and have a delicious smoothie, coffee or croissants.

Review 76:Near Central Park, good dinner places nearby, suggest Room 53 restaurant with live piano music. Really close to subway.

Review 77:The breakfast was very basic.

Review 78:This small hotel room was perfect for us as we were always out. It was clean and cosy and just what we needed. The service was spectacular. The location was great! 2 blocks away from Times Square and Central Park. 1 block away from closest subway.

Review 79:Clean, cozy, friendly & helpful morning staff, free wifi, amazing location. Close to inexpensive eats (Luigi's, Wendys, McDonalds, Chipotle, etc). Less than 4 min walk to several metro stations.

Review 80:my window opened to a noisy shaft; not allowing much light and air. No space for leaving luggage after checkout. You can leave it in the lobby for a few hours.

Review 81:well located. clean and nice. free continental breakfast which is very simple but unusual for NY.

Review 82:Poor breakfast-coffe/tea and some muffin/donat. The hotel staff didn't say "hello" often. Not so friendly.

Review 83:First day we lived in small room with one bed. But on second day we changed the room for twin beds room. It was nice big room. Good location of the hotel. near the subway.

Review 84:The double bed was against a wall so it was not possible to get out of bed on both sides. This would have been a great single room but I kind of expect to be able to get out on both sides when paying for a double room. There were no lamps and the overhead light did not give us enough light to read at night. The towels are gray with use and need bleaching. The bathroom was spacious but the quality of the shower was bad (difficult to adjust the temperature and the shower head needs replacing). The internet is free but it was sooooo sloooow and therefore almost useless. I hope that the management will read this as these are all things that can be fixed to make one stay more enjoyable and less disappointing.

Review 85:Location is great. Everything is next door: Starbucks, McDonalds, Subway entrance, TJMax and close to Central Park. The staff was friendly and helpful. TV worked fine.

Review 86:The towels were old.

Review 87:The room was clean and quaint. The desk persons were pleasant and beyond helpful when giving directions. We were allowed to leave our luggage while we went around town before check in. It was noisy in the evening but it didn't infer with our sleep. Great location! Close to Central Park, Times Square, Broadway, and quick access to subway. It's not Trump Towers but it's a decent place.

Review 88:Not much hot water breakfast was limited

Review 89:Great location and room was clean. You get what you pay for and can't beat the location for Times Square and broadway also very close to Central Park

Review 90:The staff ìs great! The room was small. Shower was awkward, but adequate. Not enough hot water and the free wifi didn't work in the room - poor signal.

Review 91:Awesome location, two blocks from park, easy walk to MOMA and theater district. Nice coffee and croissants out in the morning, very friendly staff. Room typical for small hotel ("small!") but great ambiance. Def would stay here again.

Review 92:The wifi didn't work in my room because it was far away from the rest of the rooms.

Review 93:The location is great, just like the people working there. Close to Central Park, next to a lot of restaurants and 1 block from a big subway station. Bed was comfortable like the bathroom and everything was clean

Review 94:In the first room, the heating didn't work and there was no hot water. We called reception several times and they said they restarted the boiler, but eventually, they switched rooms. The second room was incredibly hot, to the point that we were sweating inside. Luckily, there was hot water, but we had specifically asked for a room with a mini-fridge, and the second room didn't have on. Seems like you either get hot-water or a decent room. The staff was relatively helpful, but could have been more so.

Review 95:The location was good (close to Columbus Circle, lot's of subway stops around). The place was clean.

Review 96:I booked this through bookings.com, via my AAA membership. Based on the price and location, I was prepared for the worst, if not mediocre at best. But I was so pleasantly surprised, they had my reservation completely set, the staff was very kind and friendly, and then I went to my room for a wonderful surprise. While it wasn't the Plaza, it was really nice. Very clean, it smelled wonderful, the bathroom, although small, was extremely pretty, with granite throughout. The bed was very comfortable, and because I was on an inside room, I had no street noise. I would highly recommend this hotel, and will return the next time I need to stay in mid-town Manhattan overnight.

Review 97:Rooms were small but OK for New York. Heating was difficult to control. Sometimes turned self off or either got too hot.

Review 98:Great central location in Manhattan close to most things. Quiet small hotel with friendly helpfull staff.

Review 99:The breakfast bar was a bit underwhelming but there are many other options close by.

Review 100:This was a true gem of a find. Excellent location, comfortable space and awesome staff. This was such a great place - comfortable bed, clean bathroom, awesome staff and central location. The perfect spot to aid my New York adventures. I will be back!

Review 101:the hot water was hit and miss some days we never had hot water wifi in the hotel very poir

Review 102:Excellent location for all ameneties subway is only a short distance too

Review 103:Had some trouble with the hot water and the tub did not initially have a plug. The hallways were not well heated

Review 104:Liked the feel and design of the room Loved the restaurant and bar Loved the location Very cozy Caring staff Acommodated the need for a first floor room Ready availabelity of computer servicei

Review 105:Arrangement w/garage-quick park sucked! Didn't honor discount by telling me lot was full-(cars were coming and going) and I even told them I'd wait. Awful treatment after driving through heavy traffic and having bags to carry

Review 106:Comparative price

Review 107:Rooms are tiny and tv very basic.

Review 108:The location is great, rooms are clean and staff is helpful. The block has a wonderful Indian restaurant, Chinese restaurant and Italian restaurants.

Review 109:The external of the building as you arrive is not too appealing - but don't worry because its a great location and very pleasant internally.

Review 110:Great location, literally 2 minutes from Central Park and right near Times Square. Clean, tidy, modern bathroom.

Review 111:Room quite small but that is not really a problem in New York.

Review 112:Much more personal than the big chain hotels. Reception staff very pleasant. Good position near Central Park and Rockefeller Centre. Coffee and croissants gave us a good start to the day.

Review 113:Carpets dirty, needed replacement Bethroom water tap needed cleaning water sprayed at you. We forgot how noisy the city can be at night from our street facing room.

Review 114:Nicely tiled clean bathroom . Location excellent for late arrival, after midnight, from opera.

Review 115:Slow to service customers, if a long line forms at the front desk.

Review 116:Clean room, good bed, wifi works, hotel has European feel, and decent continental breakfast items; very good location close to 7th ave actually

Review 117:very narrow hallways - difficult to pass other people especially with luggage; bed was too firm

Review 118:location; coffee and rolls in the foyer; helpful friendly staff on the desk; 24hr check-in desk; access to internet in the foyer; fridge and other facilities in the room;

Review 119:- small room - small breakfast - WIFI not stable all time - room old and used

Review 120:+ location: walking distance to central park, empire state building, times square, UN, chrysler building, ... + cheap shuttle service hotel/JFK and La Guardia + friendly staff + WIFI for free

Review 121:Awful wifi signal When I arrived the room was burning hot, the heater handle was stuck on "full power" and the air conditioner wasn't working (room 206), so I had to ask for another room (which they gave me). Both rooms had a really poor wifi signal

Review 122:Location Clean Cozy bed

Review 123:3 different taxes ..... Drilling outside our bedroom window 3 mornings in a row

Review 124:Comfy bed , friendly helpful staff , good location , good continental breakfast

Review 125:Expensive for what you get. Cheaper than many others, by NY standards, but expensive by international standards. Breakfast poor. No windows, no view. Air condition inadequate and could not be adjusted for comfort.

Review 126:Great location. Room and facilities clean and comfortable. Friendly and helpful staff. Quiet room, well insulated. No smoking policy.

Review 127:Air conditioning ineffective and very noisy. Bed indicated as a 'queen size' but was only a double, and not very comfortable! Our room was not serviced on two occasions.

Review 128:Fabulous position in NY; front desk staff very courteous and helpful. Room itself, very tired! Bathroom has been updated and quite adequate. Restaurant very convenient, food very good, and good service.

Review 129:No storage room for luggage, have to leave In Reception, although this is always staffed

Review 130:Ground floor room so full wifi access in room, coffee in the morning( although breakfast limited selection), great size room and ensuite, ideal location for walking to attractions or catching tube.

Review 131:This hotel is not ideal for business travel. The room was small with nospace to spread out. There was a free standing wardrobe, but it does notallow you to really hang our clothes.

Review 132:The location of this hotel is unbeatable. Absolutely convenient to thesubway, restaurant, sights, etc. The staff at the hotel was friendly andhelpful. I loved my view of Hearst Tower.

Review 133:Small rooms . cleaners came around in the evening and Not the morning. some noise from a motor running outside maybe an air conditioning unit

Review 134:Small boutique hotel. great location. free continental breakfast in the lobby.friendly staff very helpful with directions and tourist attractions

Review 135:.Lift sometimes mal-functioned .Dodgy refrigerator .Room cleaners forgot to replace soap, shampoo, and drinking glasses .Taxes and extras pushed up cost markedly from what was expected from Booking.com website .WiFi only worked in lobby

Review 136:.Simple breakfast provided .Good location close to subway and Central Park .Helpful desk staff

Review 137:No views, noisy and very dark

Review 138:Location was excellent. Close to Broadway and Times Square, Central Park and easy access to all airports and cruiser ports.

Review 139:The thing what I found weird that they make a copy of your credit card, ID. Now I need to keep looking for my credit card, that nothing would be stolen. I hope that they do not do it!

Review 140:I really loved location! I wish, that they were not booked out that I had opportunity to stay again. Everything was so close!

Review 141:Cable tv did NOT work. Was unable to get a wifi signal in my room on the 5th floor. Fortunately I did not have to do work that night. If I did this would have been a major problem

Review 142:Location! Location! Location! Very friendly staff.
