Reviews for Westmark Anchorage Hotel

Review 1:We didn't like the noise from the bus station especially at 1 in the morning. We were surprised that we had to pay for parking.

Review 2:The only problem with the location is close to the bus station. Noisy and lots of panhandlers. Otherwise it is a good location for restaurants and shopping.

Review 3:I paid $12 per day for parking for the three days I was there and was told at check-in that I could use the adjacent parking lot for the same price if their limited hotel parking was full. The morning I was to check-out I had driven out to a business appointment and could not find a parking spot at the hotel when I returned. I was told by the front desk that I would have to pay another $12 for that day since I was due to check out at noon and it was 10AM at that time. This was not my understanding at check-in and since I only needed parking for a couple of more hours until check-out, I felt that this was not very accommodating at best and horrible customer service at worst to not at least cover me on the parking for the final two hours that I had already paid for and insisting that I pay again.

Review 4:The value and location

Review 5:The lady at the check in counter was rude and unhelpful. When She took my ID she stared at my mother who I was traveling with. She asked who was with me and I told her confused and asked her why it mattered. She told me it was because I was under age....I'm 22. Who would hire someone who cant do basic math and read? Then when we got to our room it was a one bedroom with the headboard broken on one side so it looked super slanted. I went to go checkout the next day only to find out after I left that they overcharged me.Oh yeah plus the parking is not free yet the last 3x I visited that hotel I've been given them for free. I am not sure if id come back again after such an experience.

Review 6:Unfortunately we were on the side of the building facing an alley, and it was loud. We could hear people talking and yelling on the street all night and it sounded like the cars were in our room.

Review 7:The staff was excellent and the room was extremely comfortable.

Review 8:Could update the rooms a little felt like I was in that 70s show. still waiting for my card to be credited for the amount I paid in cash so I wouldn't be charged, but was anyway . So I paid twice for one night.

Review 9:The fact they had balconys and a diner downstairs with good food.

Review 10:Parking lot was a joke. We had to pay for hotel permit parking. Then because this is a 14 story hotel there are only 30 parking spots. We had to pay for public parking almost the whole trip and westmark would not refund us for their permit parking slip which was $12 which we never parked on.

Review 11:It was close to 5th ave. Mall. The bed were comfortable. But the rooms are not. Hotel was not very clean.

Review 12:Room was far more outdated than pictured. WiFi was open network and useless, my phone had faster Internet connected to at&t. TV was ancient, very basic channels. Room located directly across from staff lunch room which had a curtain, no door. Loud at times and constantly smelled of food.

Review 13:Location was fantastic. Middle of town. Walking distance to most anything you want to do. Plenty of parking for $12/night, beats 40 bucks a night for downtown parking.

Review 14:The room location this stay was rather noisy.

Review 15:The location is phenomenal and the staff is excellent. The doorman is ALWAYS ready to help you any way he can from the minute you pull into the driveway, the main desk personnel are amenable to anything you'd like to make your stay more comfortable and enjoyable.

Review 16:We booked a King size bed and ended up with two doubles... Not sure how they overbooked that and made us take a double bed room but it was fine.

Review 17:Comp parking, great staff, comfy large rooms, overall great experience!

Review 18:Bathroom floor not very clean

Review 19:Staff was amazing, food in the hotel restaurant was very good and served hot and quickly parking very close and location perfect for anything you're doing downtown.

Review 20:The night manager was very rude. She was talking about my daughter's behavior to the desk clerk not realizing I was still standing there. This was Saturday the 25th. She was the only negative employee there.

Review 21:The staff was friendly and courteous with the exception of one Lady.

Review 22:Rooms & hallways abit tired looking....not particularly attractive for what I consider to be an upper end hotel.....looks more like a cheaper hotel

Review 23:Location

Review 24:On checking in we found our room had a wet spot under the bed. Reported problem twice. Nothing done. Nothing offered by staff to correct problem or a different room. This hotel is old. Needs an update beginning with the staff.

Review 40:It was well kept, but just felt old and worn. Nor in a really bad way though.

Review 41:The room was nice bed was comfy, people were very nice

Review 42:TERRACE VIEW

Review 43:Expensive for what it is.

Review 44:$330 a night for the equivalent of a 20 year old Holiday Inn. I know it is tourist season but I feel like I have been violated.

Review 45:Front desk would not allow me a 30 minute late check-out to get my work done.

Review 46:Comfortable bed; Wi-Fi speed.

Review 47:Price was fair could have been a little better.

Review 48:Location and view

Review 49:no mini fridge or microwave in room, but they were willing to bring one to the room, microwave that is!

Review 54:Location was excellent and so was the service. Thanks.

Review 55:The location. There was people outside screaming and yelling. Also that they didn't have much parking and they charge for parking as well.

Review 56:Room not very clean and it gives a bad feeling.

Review 57:Staff friendly and location was good for my needs.

Review 58:Greeted by a friendly and helpful staff. Carol at the front desk was really helpful and made sure our needs were met.

Review 65:I liked that the location was within walking distance of everything in Anchorage and just a few blocks from the convention center.

Review 66:Can't think of a thing

Review 67:Location, close to couple nice restaurants.

Review 68:Parking situation is strange.

Review 69:Convenient location.

Review 70:Parking was tight

Review 71:Space, cleanliness and comfort of room; view from room; friendliness of staff.

Review 72:Wifi connection is poor.

Review 73:Location, staff, clean.

Review 74:Price was high for not having a pool or hot tub.

Review 75:Staff was nice.

Review 76:couldn't watch tv from bed

Review 77:good location great front counter staff

Review 78:The room faced a busy street and traffic noise kept waking me up.

Review 79:It was downtown and easy to walk to many attractions and locations.

Review 80:Parking fee

Review 81:Quiet

Review 82:The staff at the front desk needed to be a little more organized and friendly with relaying information to guests.

Review 83:The hotel was very clean and comfortable. The restaraunt had excellent food and a great menu.

Review 84:When hotel is busy, getting around in parking lot can be a challenge.

Review 85:Receptionist was very attentive, helpful. Restaurant had great menu with Vegetarian options. Work-out room was clean, well-maintained! The view of Cook's Inlet is fantastic! Huge picture window in room draws the visitor to look for ...oh...awhile!

Review 86:There really wasn't anything that I didn't like about my experience.

Review 87:The hotel staff was wonderful and went out of their way to help at every turn. The room was comfortable and clean and the location was great.

Review 88:The room was pretty outdated and we were stuck next to a utility room or something. There was a dripping and banging all n

Review 89:I love the location - close to great food and shopping. You can't beat that.

Review 90:slight mess up on first booking and very noisy ice machine also someone on reception put an incorrect date "2/29/14" (does not exist - it should have been 3/1/14) on my green parking ticket which meant I got a penalty notice - hassle!

Review 91:Raquel was excellent on reception

Review 92:resturant service was extremely slow and food not fantastic--but with all the other places near by to eat really didn't effect us so much

Review 93:staff was friendly and very eager to help, location and views were great and the value when compared to hilton or captn. cook don't compare--plus their friendly and accommodation where hilton and captn cook fail miserably

Review 94:the restaurant & bar were closed the bathroom needs a fan I guess most hotels now charge for parking, but I still don't like that

Review 95:nice size room super nice & helpful staff perfect location for those doing downtown "things!"

Review 96:The Solstice Restsurant's dinner service. Saturday was horrible and the second time this has happened. Made reservations and it didn't matter when there is no hostess help. Then order took forever and wasn't crowded or busy. 40 minutes to get food and was wrong.

Review 97:Bell men helped with luggage in icy parking lot. Asked if we needed to weigh our bags when leaving, never had that asked before.

Review 98:The staff was reluctant to give out the parking pass for the overflow parking. Given the pitiful amount of on-site parking this should never happen. Instead of delaying the guest while the bellman double checks to see if there is a space (there wasn't), and the desk clerk fumbles around looking for the parking passes until the bellman returns, just take care of the guests.

Review 99:The staff did a good job. The food in the restaurant was good.

Review 100:Those Chairs in the rooms will cripple ya :) The intoxicated folks need there own floor .. Tried my best to call the Hotel , For reservations but no number on line ??

Review 101:Very nice room. Clean. Caring Staff at desk and floors.

Review 102:The coldness that was drifting in the window slide door. Should get it fixed or get weatherize thingies every winter.

Review 103:The location. Close to the Mall/Stores/gift shops.

Review 104:The hotel rooms lack character. Basically, old, dated, and tried. Definitely needs some major updating and design work for the rooms. Lobby is nice.

Review 105:No cable as in movie channels Power was going out Small Television Cheap bed and furniture No fridge Not worth the money Shower was dirty

Review 106:Nothing

Review 107:Eating at Solstice Cafe. Waitress took my order ..served and then proceeded to gossip about other employees with the short order cook for the remainder of my meal. I was seated about 20 feet away and had to spend over half an hour listening to them. Very unpleasant atmosphere.

Review 108:Front dsk help excellent.

Review 109:When I went to check out I was charged more than what I was told on booking.com and when there is a budget it can be difficult.

Review 110:The location It was close to coffee shops, along with the mall and other shops to do some Christmas shopping. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Review 111:I wish parking wasn't a separate charge. I would expect that parking would be part of staying at the hotel.

Review 112:I love the location of this hotel. The beds are comfortable too.

Review 113:Need to fix blower in room on heater

Review 114:Staff was very friendly and very helpful had a good stay. The blower on the heater in the room was noisy and kinda annoying. Overall it was a good night stay

Review 115:It could use an update. The carpets and bedding are a little worn.

Review 116:I forgot all my toiletries and your staff was courteous enough to findsome for me which was greatly appreciated for I was on a time crunch. The view out my window was beautiful!

Review 117:The rooms need a fridge. The hustle and bustle of the streets below were a little loud but I didn't lose any sleep due to noise.

Review 118:Great rooms and comfortable beds. Nice view of downtown Anchorage and Cook Inlet from my 12th floor balcony. The staff is courteous and EXTREMELY helpful. Very clean and convenient location for downtown cuisine and nightlife.

Review 119:The fire alarm being pulled at 1:09 am in the morning and having to walk down the stairs. It was very hard to get back to sleep especially for our early morning wake up call to depart.

Review 120:Good people. The food was excellent.

Review 121:rain leaked around sliding door and rug was extremely wet. Hotel was older and I feel we overpaid for what we got. Rooms are older and dated. Paid for balcony to look at a wall. Pictures fooled me.

Review 122:Good restaurant on site for breakfast. Location is downtown, so easy to walk around and shop at the tourist shops.

Review 123:Wanted king bed, but got a room with 2 doubles. Hotel was full due to alarge tour company staying there.

Review 124:Great rate. Convenient location in downtown Anchorage.

Review 125:Curtains need to lap over during the summer - too much light getting into the room. No fridge or microwave - these facilities would have been useful.

Review 126:Nice big room, comfortable bed

Review 127:They tried to charge me more than my booking.com reservation. If I hadn't had a copy of the booking.com confirmation, they would have. They acted like I was making things up until I produced the hardcopy.

Review 128:The staff was mostly very helpful.

Review 129:Some quiproquo about the hotel price : at check in the front desk wantedus to sign a paper with room price much more expensive than that of ourreservation on Booking. Restaurants or starbucks are the only option formeal and drinks. The are no fridge and microwave in the room, and thenearest food store is 8 blocks away.

Review 130:Nice comfortable room with splendid sea view. Staff polite and helpful.

Review 131:We reserved a room with a king size bed and were instead given a room with two VERY uncomfortable double beds. My husband and I were in Anchorage to celebrate our anniversary....not the way we envisioned sleeping. The check in staff was incredibly rude during check in and the hotel desperately needs to be renovated.
