Reviews for Lotte New York Palace

Review 1:Very noisy fans outside the main window. They have closed the old cocktail bar...real shame as the atmosphere was fantastic. The replacement is not great and we gave it a miss.

Review 2:Excellent beds.

Review 3:You could not ask for a nicer staff, every single person we met had a smile! We let them know this was the grand finale to our Honeymoon and they brought up some Bubbly and Candy for my wife and I. Also the drinks at the bar downstairs are amazing! Location - can't beat it!

Review 4:The hotel doesn't have a lounge that serves food,...there is one serving drinks only.

Review 5:The view, the comfort of the room furnishings, the decor, cleanliness, the location is perfect...

Review 6:The service at reception both at check-in and check-out was appalling. When I arrived there was an enormous line that wasn't moving at all, and people had already been waiting for at least 15 minutes. After waiting five minutes with no sign of movement I asked nearby staff what the problem was, and nobody had any idea. It took the better part of half an hour to even get up to the desk, completely inefficient. At check-out, three people were working the reception desk and only ONE of them was engaging with guests. I was told to wait and then was completely ignored while I stood there waiting indefinitely (again, there were two free reception agents behind the counter, both ignoring me). Finally a doorman came over to help me figure out a very simple question, and even when this happened nobody at reception looked up. Frankly, at this price point, this kind of service treatment is unacceptable.

Review 7:Maybe the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in. Convenient location, and close to transport. Very spacious room. Room service was efficient and high quality.

Review 8:We had some bad experiences with the booking agency (Bookings.com).

Review 9:We love the view from Towers (overlooking St Patrick's cathedral). Nice staff and great service.

Review 10:Location of the hotel was unbeatable, within walking distance of most major attractions. Great view at night of st Patrick's cathedral and Rockefeller! Rooms were spacious with every amenity and beds very comfortable. The wifi, although not complimentary, was speedy and efficient. The staff went out of their way to help my family and I, we were even offered a free upgrade at check in and were recommended to a great steakhouse. The courtyard of this hotel is spectacular at Christmas time and I would highly reccomend the gossip girl tour as a must do, which starts at this hotel. This is the perfect hotel to stay in NYC and I hope to return very soon!

Review 11:We didn't like not having a breakfast room. The cafe is really not adequate. Also it was difficult to find seating downstairs. More needed around the stairs.

Review 12:Location , lovely rooms. Friendly staff .

Review 13:My only complaint is that I had called room service to two champagne flutes and it took them 45 minutes to bring them up. I went down to get them myself and they still hadn't arrived.

Review 14:Very professional staff and willing to help in any way possible.

Review 15:Great location! It's the only place to stay during the holiday season. The proximity to the shops on 5th Ave. and Rockefeller Center make it an ideal place to stay.

Review 16:Room service is a little pricey

Review 17:This hotel is amazing, great location - walking distance to lots of popular attractions, exceptional staff, we had an amazing view of St Patrick's Cathedral. We stayed over Christmas and New year and could not fault this hotel

Review 18:However only a light cafe with minimal breakfast options or very expensive room service with gratuity charge, $7 service charge per person and another additional charge. Ridiculous and although stated on in- room dining menu, shocked at the costs. Also, sensor mini - bar - if opened & items moved to access desired drink, all touched charged for. These were removed from the bill as were the unreasonable in-room dining charges when questioned. $16 per 24 hours per room for Internet. Complimentary internet should be available.

Review 19:The lobby is beautiful, the bars also. You cannot beat the location and the room size was generous!

Review 20:There was one occasion, where we had to call room service 3 times, for an order placed an hour ago

Review 21:The location was amazing, very close to all the tourist sights. Our stay was made extraordinarily amazing, by the kindness and helpfulness of the staff. Especially SUSAN, at the front desk of the Towers. Thank you!

Review 22:No in hotel restaurant. Even though they offer room service, it is way overpriced. Can't justify a $33 hamburger, sorry. ALSO look online for parking lots and be prepared to park a few blocks away. The lot next door to the hotel charges $85 a day.

Review 23:Staff was great. Upgraded us to a higher floor and St. Pats view upon request. Everyone greeted us wherever went. Front desk service was top notch. Thank you Danielle and Lincy. Bakery was great, delicious breakfast items. Yusef our bartender in the lounge was great. They absolutely went out of their way for us. You are getting what you pay for, no doubt.

Review 24:Our booking included a roll away bed which was never delivered, even after repeated requests. This made for really uncomfortable nights.

Review 25:Even though our stay was at busiest time of year, the staff were all pleasant and mannerly. The view from our room was awesomely beautiful and just what we requested.

Review 26:Charged for Wifi No coffee for guests in the lobby or in rooms

Review 27:Nice Fitness Center with free bottled water Central location in midtown Polite staff Beautiful building with great views

Review 28:Nothing ... All good !

Review 29:Having stayed a few times previously it''s the whole experience from arrival to departure (thanks to Nancy on reception for her warmth and help ) that never disappoints . We can't wait to return at a future date.

Review 30:It was a great experience. The staff were most helpfull at all times and the housekeeping in our room was excellent. After a punishing day of sightseeing and shopping we looked forward to going "home" to our room.Highly recommended.

Review 31:The Tower elevators are exceptionally slow. We were told that the service elevator was broken for more than a month -- seems strange that it would not be fixed for the busiest time of the year.

Review 32:Loved our room in the tower. View, comfort, all wonderful. It was our son's birthday and we had after-theatre drinks in the lobby lounge. Unfortunately, all food services were closed, but our exceptional waiter (Wafik?) found a praline tart, added a candle and presented to the table -- that was above and beyond, but overall the staff is very professional and extremely pleasant to deal with.

Review 33:Price of room exorbitant, no free amenities like Wi-Fi, or water etc. small things. Got room with noise from heating/air system for other building next door. Noise was disturbing was given change of room. The night supervisor Courtney was very understanding and showed lots of patience. She changed our room twice and we finally got 2 nights of good sleep out of 4. She compensated us which we truly appreciated.

Review 34:The location in Midtown Manhattan

Review 35:The foolish light system. Buttons on walls. If you hit the wrong button in your room the light on button outside your rooms says privacy therefore no housekeeper services.

Review 36:Staff, location, comfort of room

Review 37:No free wifi.

Review 38:Staff were wonderful; all requests met promptly & with friendliness. Overall service was great. Big, very comfortable rooms. We were with 3 and there was plenty of seating & space for all of us. Loved it.

Review 39:Desk clerk was a little ditzy. Had our rate much higher than I had booked online. Fortunately, the manager sorted it out. Housekeeping staff was under-staffed and did a lousy job replenishing towels and bath products.

Review 40:Great location. Beautiful hotel.

Review 41:I have stayed here every year now for five years . It is consistently good . Nice staff , lovely rooms, quiet location but very close to everything .

Review 42:The view, especially with the Christmas lights and decorations, was beautiful. The room size was large. The hotel was beautifully decorated and the staff were all helpful.

Review 43:More wash cloths daily.

Review 44:Everyone was so nice and every request was met quickly. We were celebrating my grand daughter's college graduation and Robin,, in guest experiences, emailed with me serveral times to be sure we were happy wirh rhe lovely complimentary tray of truffels. The beds were very comfortable and we were upgraded to a high floor with a view of St. Patricks. Best location in NYC.

Review 45:Everyone treated us with respect and kindness I was staying at my last hotel for 15 years my last two visits there we unpleasant so I came to you and we were very pleased keep up the good work

Review 46:We had a little hiccup with room service, just a simple misunderstanding. Everything was resolved.

Review 47:Location was absolutely perfect, 2 short blocks from the Rockafeller Center. The hotel itself is absolutely stunning, if you do happen to book a city view room, the views are breathtaking. Definitely one of the safer areas of Manhattan.

Review 48:Hotel does not have restaurant that serves breakfast. Breakfast is only available by room service or in the French Patisserie (serving coffee and croissant, pastries, etc.)

Review 49:Great location, able to walk to many attractions

Review 50:Too many business people in the hotel during the week meaning lack of space/ seats for paying guests. No formal restaurant

Review 51:Location excellent, room service, staff etc very friendly, room very spacious and clean

Review 52:The Tavern on 51st florr was closed on the weekend, thus eliminating our opportunity to see the city view, our primary reason for choosing this location. Extremely disappointed. Parking very expensive $70

Review 53:The views

Review 54:Since its opening in the early 80's the Palace has maintained a simple proposition: "We will charge you top dollar; everything here will be expensive. In return, we will treat you like royalty and give you extremely luxurious rooms and amenities, and outstanding service." Between us, this was our third stay at the Palace. Under the new Lotte ownership, we were pleased to see that the proposition holds true. We had a delightful stay. As in every hotel, plain or fancy, the key is the staff. Everyone we encountered here was exceptionally helpful and welcoming.

Review 55:While the reception, baggage, room service, concierge and engineering staff are lovely and polite, the Doormen are quite arrogant and rude. It's not necessary to be impolite to guests and their drivers. i usually have a driver. Also, the fact that you have NO dining facilities on the property makes it inconvenient to entertain comfortably. Otherwise in almost 16 years we have been otherwise happy with the Palace. thank you.

Review 56:I always love the rooms and how they're furnished and cleaned.

Review 57:No turndown, charge for Internet , They didn't clean my room and then I called at 5 PM and they apologized and said it would be done in 10 minutes. I went out to dinner and came back at 8:30 and it was still not done.

Review 58:The location is fabulous.

Review 59:The reception staff were absolutely outstanding - Bitan in particular assisted us on 3 separate occasions, but I also dealt with 2 other checkin personnel and they too were extremely helpful and efficient.

Review 60:Staff are over the top friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. Everyone always has a smile on their face and treats guests like royalty. Rooms are beautiful, well furnished with every amenity and the views of the city (especially St, Patrick's Cathedral) are stunning!

Review 61:Upgraded to a cathedral side room, but didn't get it the first night. By the time you had one available the next day, we didn't feel like packing up and moving.

Review 62:location and friendly staff

Review 63:We have stayed at the NY Palace several times and have noticed a significant decline in the level of service since Lotte purchased the property. We will not stay at this property in the future.

Review 64:No kettle . We asked for it. No wifi. It would be great if the wifi was included in the room rate. Room service was expensive.

Review 65:Location and quality of the beds, spacious room ( two double beds) and large bathroom. Room was clean, cathedral view was amazing. The service from the Manger at reception with his staff was great. Bell man ( babo) provided us with quran and direction of qibla. Overall, great experience.

Review 66:Location was perfect and the ambiance of the hotel was lovely. Great little cafe in the lobby. Rooms were nicely appointed and kept very clean. Concierge was most helpful with dinner reservations last minute at a fabulous Italian spot nearby. Also helped us to secure same day theatre tickets at a discounted rate. Would highly recommend to others and would definitely return!

Review 67:Couldn't find Vending or Ice machines. Had fully stock refrigerators but where unable to put anything in them if we had leftovers or purchased something we wanted to save until we left.

Review 68:Great Location, helpful staff, large room

Review 69:Outdated bathroom, no tea/coffee facilities, no complimentary water, no free wifi - not really acceptable for 4star hotel.

Review 70:Location, very helpful staff

Review 71:Having to pay extra to use web and e-mail access. Given the quality and standing of the hotel, this should be gratis in my opinion.

Review 72:central location; pleasant and helpful staff; and well furnished rooms

Review 73:When you are paying over $400 a night for a room I think it is too much to ask $15.99 for WiFi access. If Starbucks can give free WiFI for a cup of coffee, why can't you?

Review 74:Location and view from window

Review 75:Enjoyed my stay here, the staff was very attentive and the hotel was very luxurious but could use a modest restaurant in the hotel instead of the nearby restaurants which generally offered overpriced elitist fare.

Review 76:The bathroom in my room broke two days in a row!!! The first time it flowed over and made a one inch-flood in the entire bathroom and it took literally 45 MINUTES and multiple phone calls to guest services plus my going to the front desk to have it all cleaned up. The second day I also had to call to have it repaired

Review 77:Lovely, large rooms, quite clean, very good staff; one person in particular stood out; Ava at the front desk,

Review 78:the hotel has been run by investors not Hoteliers and there have been obvious cut-backs. On exiting the hotel staff told us that they expected the new owners would bring back some of the expected services Lack of turn-down service, no free bottled water in rooms Had to ask for bath robes Poor internet (charge waived, which was good)

Review 79:Location Previous excellent stays (over 2 years ago); we had avoided the hotel for two years after 3 or 4 consequtive stays because our visits had clashed with UN Assembly meetings and we had learned that security for VIPS was a nuisance for guests

Review 80:don't mind paying a penalty as mentioned with the booking but wasn't told what that penalty would be. turned out to be the entire amount. disappointing!

Review 81:never got there

Review 82:None. Trouble with shower and no hot water sorted promptly. Alternative bathroom provided in the meantime.

Review 83:Convenient location. Larger bedrooms than is usual in New York.

Review 84:I just wish there was a traditional sit down restaurant in the hotel.

Review 85:The service was excellent. The entire staff goes out of their way to make your stay as pleasant as possible.

Review 86:Card key didn't work and battery on door lock had to be replaced. We notified hotel we were coming to celebrate our 33rd wedding anniversary and there was no acknowledgement in our room

Review 87:Staff was nice and attentive

Review 88:At checkin we were disappointed with our room but Paul went out of his way to find a more suitable room. This impressed us enough to make plans to return to this hotel in the future when traveling to NYC.

Review 89:*No Free Wifi. *No Parking. You have to pay $75/day at the garage nearby. *The room was extremely cold even though we put it on 80 and turned the fan off. The AC was still blowing and fan was still on. A tech came to see it and stated the fan was off, but it was still very cold in the room (I am anemic and get cold pretty quickly). So we just asked for extra blankets, not a big deal. *Also free Breakfast not included with your stay.

Review 90:Great Location, hotel located on Madison Ave. Near Fifth Ave Shopping area, More upscale area than staying in hotels near Times Square. The hotel itself is very beautiful and is directly across the Church, has a beautiful area to sit outside the hotel. Locations and attractions nearby- Times square is an 8 minute drive. Diamond District within walking distance. I've stayed in Times Square before and didn't feel safe at all. This hotel is located in a better area. Worth the extra money.

Review 91:Staff rude and not very helpful. We had to call to request face cloths and a bathmat that housekeeping forgot to leave one day. Only 1 robe and slippers left for 2 people. Slippers had previously been worn.

Review 92:Great location.

Review 93:Bathrooms are old-fashioned. There was a extra refrigerator in the room that was not working. Wifi is expensive and limited to 3 devices.

Review 94:The location is perfect and close too many nice restaurants. The decoration if common areas is very nice. There is a patisserie with a wonderful croque monsier for breakfrast. The gym is well equipped. Service is good. The lobby bar is nice. Packages were stored and delivered at no cost. Front desk personnel well prepared and attentive.

Review 95:No wifi No tea coffee making facility in rooms Reception areas beautiful but rooms quite basic

Review 96:Fantastic location Great view but you have to pay extra for this.

Review 97:We arrived at the hotel earlier than check-in time. It took time and a few attempts to get a room that matched our request but the staff was helpful. .

Review 98:The facilities in/around the hotel are excellent. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Review 99:If you upgrade to a cathedral room, be aware that they do nightly construction on the cathedral on weeknights!

Review 100:Beautiful hotel and fantastic in-house bakery. It was in a very quiet location.

Review 101:female check in staff were uninterested and did not interact with you as a guest and said nothing to me when I checked in very cold and unresponsive

Review 102:location is great, Bell staff are friendly and helpful,

Review 103:This hotel is perfect! My 14 year old and I had the best time at this beautiful hotel. The room was very large for a NYC hotel room. We travel to NY 3 times every year and have tried many hotels. We have found our host hotel for all of our visits going forward.

Review 104:We only had one issue with one of the staff members. He was rude and seemed like he did not enjoy working at the hotel. He had poor customer service and was not as friendly as the rest of the staff. If not for him we would have had a perfect experience.

Review 105:Overall the experience was perfect. The staff was courteous and extremely helpful with all questions I had about the City and the facility. We will definitely be coming back!

Review 106:One receptionist was rude, not what you would expect of a 300$+ per night service. The manager phoned us to check the matter but it's still a disappointment for a receptionist not to be courteous when she sees you worried. The Internet is too expensive as well. The bathrooms are old.

Review 107:The location of the hotel is ideal. It is clean and comfortable. The service is good. The bed is very comfortable. The room is very spacious.

Review 108:Fab location, stunning view from window staff could not have been more helpful. special mention to Tom in the Bar who went out of his way to make our stay special

Review 109:The reception was just doing her job. Not really warm, no smile all the time. Other staff are bet friendly. Their double beds are not queen size. It was only a bed a bit better than single size. No coffee maker. WiFi was not free. The decoration was kind of old. But good compared with most NYC hotel in this are.

Review 110:Location was good. 5-10 mins walk to subway. Close to most NYC attractions. The room size was not too bad.

Review 111:The only thing I can complain about is that there were no wash clothes in the room; we had to call housekeeping for them. Then the next day after they cleaned the room, they again did not give us wash clothes, so we had to call housekeeping again to bring us some. Lol.

Review 112:the in-room dining was costly and contain cover charges !! and 19% gratuity charges.

Review 113:the room size is amazing. and the staff are very helpful they provide me with kettle for baby milk making, and also send a maintenance guy to open the my bag after airport locked it.

Review 114:Local knowledge of staff was highly variable. In-room breakfast pricing was ridiculous. Wi-fi at $17/day absurd. A 5% upcharge for crediting tourist tickets to room is plain silly. The whole thing reminded one of the airline approach.

Review 115:Magnificent facility in an excellent location.

Review 116:Paid Wi-Fi was slow and at times didn't connect act all. Drains were slow, shower water would fill up in the tub, toilet was very slow to flush.

Review 117:Beautiful hotel, great location, spacious rooms, very clean.

Review 118:We had one or two small issues with our stay but these were very quickly addressed by the hotel. The hotel did well to make up for this. They certainly work hard to maintain their high standards.

Review 119:Beautiful hotel in an excellent location. We stayed in the Tower suites on the 51st floor which had a fantastic view. The room also had free WiFi. Thank you to Jessica and the team for making our stay a pleasurable one.

Review 120:The menu was way overpriced.

Review 121:Cleanliness, friendly staff, great location and beautiful views. Easy walking distance to Central Park. Beautiful hotel!

Review 122:Come on. Still charging for Wifi. Even the cheap chains are beyond such nickel and diming.

Review 123:Elegance at a very reasonable price. Terrace entrance a major plus (and free Wifi from the Trunk Shop next door)

Review 124:No free wifi in room or lobby

Review 125:comfortanle bed, good size of room, nice view of cathedral and city, good location. A big gym with shower facility. We shower before our late flight after check out.

Review 126:Lounge drinks were overpriced especially non alcoholic beverages for children. Therefore no time spent in lounge. Complimentary coffee and water in the hotel room would have been a nice touch.

Review 127:Room was wonderful, great view. Hotel was beautiful. Lovely outdoor courtyard. We were welcomed and staff were respectful and courteous.

Review 128:Nothing

Review 129:I like the new furnished rooms with control electric panel technology and comfort of the bed. Roops are clean and whide hotel lobby is very beautiful.

Review 130:Weak shower Exercise gym needs a complete remodel. Really deteriorated, equipment literally falling apart. I would not consider the palace again until this is better.

Review 131:Nice room and view

Review 132:We were celebrating our 25th anniversary and they brought us a bottle of champagne and chocolate dipped strawberries...it was a beautiful touch! Also Jessica was very welcoming. Thank-you
