Reviews for Cosmopolitan Hotel Tribeca

Review 1:I liked the hotel, my only concern is that after spending the first night there, we got some insect bites ..and my only conclusion is beg bugs :(

Review 2:I like the staff and location

Review 3:No coffee maker in room. No restaurant or bar in hotel. iPod docking station not made for iPhone 5's or higher

Review 4:Location was great, short walk to the 911 memorial, Chinatown and the Irish hunger memorial. Starbucks downstairs. Great for the price. Cool tile in bathroom.

Review 5:Noisy location, constant traffic and movement outside. This is mostly expected due to it being in NYC.

Review 6:Quaint and had everything you would need for a short weekend trip.

Review 7:When we got there at 10am they did not have our room ready and we had to wait for a few minutes. I also wished that they would have included all of the taxes in the price on Booking.com. The bill ended up being more than stated online because of the taxes. Overall, not a bad experience by any means.

Review 8:Nice location in Tribeca. The staff was nice.

Review 9:The loft style room had low ceilings, it was ok for me cause I am average height (5'8) but I am sure it would be uncomfortable for a taller person.

Review 10:No complaints!

Review 11:Front desk very welcoming and efficient. Excellent access to subway...clean and comfortable rooms. Special thank you to Andre @ front desk!

Review 12:No real criticisms. There was no view from the window and a couple of times I felt that there was a cold draft from it. But this was not an issue. I really enjoyed my stay.

Review 13:It was just right. Convenient location. (I was introducing some films at Anthology Film Archives). Helpful staff (particularly printing documents). I also enjoyed watching football ((British) on NBC at the weekends. The room was not the most exciting I've stayed in, but it had everything I wanted. Coffee and breakfast places nearby. Internet was easy. It was quiet. Cleaning staff were very friendly. The hotel was recommended to me by a friend from Baltimore who stays there from time to time.

Review 14:you had to get dressed and go out for even a cup of coffee, there was no room service as listed on the webpage, there was construction on the floor above us and the noise statrted very early in the morning.

Review 15:The staff was excellent.

Review 16:they were renovating floors and there was no mention of it when i booked the hotel. Hotel hall, entrance and lift area were dirty because of workers and material transported on the lift. they gave me a room that was extremely affected by noise of renovation. After one day I had to ask to change room because it was impossible to stay there. Nonetheless the new room wasn't available till the next day after 12 and I was asked to pack my stuff instead of having them to move it as it was unpacked in the room. Lower floors are very noisy. Lift is slow Bathrooms are very small. The new room was comparatively better than the first I got and so was the bathroom that was nonetheless small too. There's no restoration in the hotel No mini bar in the rooms No gym The hotel is very very expensive for what it is.

Review 17:Room a bit noisy ( outside A/C ) but it's really to find something negative about this hotel.

Review 18:Location ( right near a subway station & 10 mn walk from One World Trade Center). Efficient staff Clean room

Review 19:Ithe hotel is less then 1 star. Air condition is not working. We were almost freezing. The hotel smell very bad. The pictures in bookn.com looks 4 stars, but the reality is not even a star.

Review 20:They failed to mention that construction on the room next door would begin at 8. Sounded like a jackhammer coming into my room. I wouldn't have stayed here knowing that after a night out with friends I would get woken up that early

Review 21:The bed was comfortable and the staff was nice

Review 22:Beautiful room! When I checked in they upgraded me to a King Room in a newly renovated room in which everything was new, stylish and comfortable! It was absolutely beautiful and WAS ROOMY. The carpet was a beautiful navy, walls a linen color with design, a very pretty new velvet chair with a dark wood headboard that had excellent lighting with a desk and side table built in. The bathroom was also spotless and wonderful tile and marble along with a mosaic of a New York map and excellent, excellent shower head. And did I say clean? I'm very picky, and it was so clean. Quiet too, I never heard a sound from anyone. The staff was EXCELLENT and helpful, allowing me to check in early and giving me an upgrade without my asking. They gave me excellent tips, and they carried my luggage to my room! Very much appreciated after having to lug it up and down subway stairs. AND THE LOCATION, absolutely the best. You can walk everywhere, and you are 10 minutes by subway to broadway and less than 15 to Central Park. I will stay here every time I come to New York, it is well worth the price. I also love that it isn't a run of the mill, common, chain hotel but feels like a "unique to New York" hotel. Try it, you will love it.!!!

Review 23:I wish that they had a second elevator.

Review 24:I like the location, price. room, and staff. The room I had this visit had a view of the Empire State Building that was lit up for Christmas!

Review 25:Could not open windows because faced alley, which was dirty, was on floor two and it was very noise early in the morning with maid service.

Review 26:Great location, clean room, modern bathroom.

Review 27:Great location to get around the area and less hectic than Midtown. Some great restaurants, bars etc. Easy access to transportation and very close to Greenwich Village, West Village etc. for the jazz scene. Hotel staff very friendly. Rooms are small but clean and functional. Not too noisy and traffic is not as bad as Midtown and Upper

Review 28:Rooms are dark and a little stuffy. Needed to run the air conditioner on cool in November! I would avoid booking the loft rooms. They are cumbersome to navigate and frankly was over it by the 3rd night.

Review 29:The location was pretty central to getting around the downtown area. Midtown by subway or $$$ for cabs/uber.

Review 30:The room was a bit stuffy at first, but became more comfortable once I turned on the ceiling fan and A/C. The unit made some noise, but I was able to sleep through it.

Review 31:Room was quite small, but clean. There were nice finishes throughout (tile shower, comfortable bed, etc.). Hotel staff was extremely courteous and helpful.

Review 32:My only complaint would be that because it's an older hotel, the rooms got a bit stuffy. Though it was November we left the air conditioning on; however that solved the problem!

Review 33:Though it was the first time in New York for my group of 5, we wanted to shy away from the hustle and bustle of Times Square. This location offered us just that. Subway line located right beside the hotel, quick walk to some tourist areas, and enough cafes/bistros/bars around if you're looking for a bite before heading out for your day. Staff was beyond helpful and assisted us with any requests we had. The maid even took the time to organize our shoes (they had been scattered). The suite was on the smaller side but from what I read about New York, I expected worse. 5 girls fit comfortably (including all of our luggage). I would definitely stay here again!

Review 34:We've stayed at the Cosmopolitan 7 times and it has become our NYC home. Love the location for getting around Manhattan and Brooklyn on the subway. The staff is warm, friendly and accommodating, and they know what's important in hospitality. Love that many Europeans see the value of this hotel. Only drawback is the slow elevator during busy times of the day.

Review 35:We have stayed at the Cosmopolitan several times before. This time was different. The wonderful quirkiness is gone. It could be anywhere.

Review 36:Location, location, location. Very approachable staff. Price is good for NYC. We were comfortable. We will probably come back.

Review 37:Downside is that you pay only for location, no breakfast included so as far as food everything costs a little more. Make sure you have a budget for transportation and food besides the hotel.

Review 38:The room was wonderful, the location is perfect. We were on 7th floor and our view was the Freedom Tower. The hotel was generous to hold our luggage while we went site seeing because our room wasn't ready and we arrived really early the day of our check in.

Review 39:There is only one lift... but as I was on the 2nd floor, it was really easy to just take the stairs.

Review 40:Rooms are on the small side... but this is NYC, thats the deal. Rooms are very clean and well maintained. Bathroom especially was really clean and well stocked. Bed was super comfortable also. I arrived 3 hours early and although I had booked a loft room, they offered me another type of room if I wanted to check in immediately. Staff were really friendly and efficient.

Review 41:Overpriced, room very small and not clean enough. The class of the window was broken and was never replaced during my 2 weeks staying.

Review 42:Location is great

Review 43:That I couldn't stay a little longer because I had to get to work.

Review 44:Old building, but nicely renovated inside. Had just enough for what I needed. Perfect. Easy in, easy out even with a crowded lobby in the morning. Staff was very efficient and helpful.

Review 45:Only down side is the elevator. Extremely slow and there is only one. This hotel is under construction aswell.

Review 46:Loved the location. The Staff is very helpful and friendly.

Review 47:Staff were very helpful and friendly. Location is great, chambers street station is right outside plus it's within walking distance to 9/11 Memorial

Review 48:Nothing in particular, but others mind find the size of the room a bit on the small side. Also there's no bar fridge in the room -- but in NYC that isn't really an issue.

Review 49:The hotel was newly refurbished, very clean, and very comfortable. The map on the bathroom wall tiles was a fantastic idea!

Review 50:Noisy AC unit, hot water very hard to set (both will we fixed in current renovation). Only one elevator (long wait times), tiny room.

Review 51:Modern room design, amazing staff - very helpful, very clean, good location. Overall very good stay!

Review 52:All people very nice but bad experience with one girl reception. 1st no patient wit people that have less good english; no capacity to resolv normal staff things of the hotel...such to post a letter... And at the end do not recognize people that are in the hotel for almost a week... All the rest...good experience...not bad price...clean. Internet to slow!

Review 53:For $500 a night - you got a closet for a room with a very loud air conditioner that even when you turned it off it made strange noises. The toilet ran until you jiggled the handle. Old sink faucet that did not turn off properly. Not even a queen bed. Your view out the window was a brick wall. My husband could not sleep all night. The staff did not even acknowledge my husband when he came down to the lobby. So disappointing.

Review 54:It was walking distance to the venue where we were seeing a show.

Review 55:My friend got stuck in the elevator, the room was so hot, and the air conditioner wouldn't go below 70... and it was far beyond 70 in there.

Review 56:The location was great and the staff was excellent

Review 57:A hotel room for 240 USD/night should be bigger than approx 12 m2. The hotel should warn guests about construction works in advance. I hate to be waked up at 8:30 by drilling maschines noise and hammering :-(

Review 58:Locotaion is excellent, right at the Subway Station Chamber Street, close to Ground Zero, Wall Street, Battery Park, China Town etc.

Review 59:Too much noise - renovations currently taking place, so woke up to drills and jackhammers on a daily basis. Not to mention the street noise.

Review 60:Good locations. Clean facilities.

Review 61:The pictures are deceiving. My husband could barely fit in the bathroom and the hotel room and hallways smelled like an entire can of carpet fresh had been poured on them. Which made me wonder what smell they were covering up. The air conditioner was so loud it kept us up all night. Would not recommend.

Review 62:Location was just about the only good thing.

Review 63:Well, our room had a window with the view to the brick wall in a few feet across our building. It was OK for our 7-hours stay, but if we had to spend more that a day there, I would definitely ask for another room.

Review 64:great location - at least for for the few hours of sleep after a red-eye flight.

Review 65:The elevator was stuffy and very, very slow.

Review 66:Staff were all terrific, great location. I would definitely stay there again. We took one of their walking tours and it was very entertaining and informative.

Review 67:At the weekend there was work getting done to the subway which meant everyone getting off at the hotel for buses. Not the hotels fault.

Review 68:Perfectly placed to see downtown Manhatan in the Tribeca area but also a short subway to times square.

Review 69:The standard room was very small, it did not have a closet or wardrobe; the A/C was very noisy.

Review 70:The staff is quite professional and attentive and the location is excellent and easily accesible by subway.

Review 71:I like the Art Deco style and appreciate the age of the building because it is well maintained. The rooms are always a surprise. It's a bit of an adventure!

Review 72:This hotel like most say they offer free wifi, but it's just not true. But I think that's an industry problem. In sales they call it bait and switch.

Review 73:Location. Staff was excellent. Location. Cleanliness. Location.

Review 74:My only complaint is the loud air conditioning unit. It can literally wake you up in the night.

Review 75:The staff were very accommodating. I was given 2 extra hours for late-checkout free of charge. The location is incredible.

Review 76:Rooms were very small and the air conditioner in windowsill was very bothersome and noisy especially at night

Review 77:I liked the staff and location was excellent

Review 78:They are doing some renovations on the building so it was a little messy and hard to find with the scaffolding surrounding the property

Review 79:It was located perfectly for my trip the staff was friendly and quick to respond to any needs and requests

Review 80:Had to call down to the lobby to get ice whenever needed. Bathroom was very small. The elevator was very slow.

Review 81:Location was good. Price was very reasonable. Front desk staff was friendly.

Review 82:Stains on carpet.

Review 83:I had business in Tribeca so it was very convenient. Subway stop within sight of hotel door. My room was very quiet. Would stay there again.

Review 84:Disabled Unequipped bathroom, but they try to make our stay comfortable as can be, & provided shower chair for my husband.

Review 85:Courteousness & helpfulness of the staff

Review 86:I didn't like that there were no vending machines, or ice machines. That was a real pain every time you wanted a drink of water or soda. No fridge to keep any food or drink with you.

Review 87:It was set up pretty cool with the loft and having the 2nd tv right there so close to the bed.

Review 88:Relatively small rooms, super slow elevator.

Review 89:The location is perfect: close to main subway lines, Brooklyn Bridge, Hudson riverbanks and all imaginable services.

Review 90:Excellent location between A-C-E and the 1-2-3 Metro lines. Room 507 is small and has no view but makes up for it by being clean and quiet. The window unit A/C and ceiling fan kept the room cool. The water pressure in the shower was great and the mattress on the full size bed was firm. The staff are very friendly. I will definitely stay here again.

Review 91:Air conditioning didn't work very well. The elevator was really terrible, it would take for ever then would be full when the doors opened anyway.

Review 92:Friendly helpful staff, excellent location, comfortable and clean. Less then 50m to a subway, about 10 minutes to the world trade tower, and walking distance to the Liberty island ferry terminal

Review 93:The bathrooms are very compact, but you can manage a shower or a wash. The lift is terrible, slow and small. Although there is free WiFi it is slow and unreliable, a 10 dollar a day service is available which I think is very expensive. A kettle in the room would be nice.

Review 94:The hotel is in a fantastic spot in town, convenient for many interesting places and the subway is literally at the door. The rooms are smaller than hotels elsewhere but probably normal for NYC. Staff are very helpful and polite and the rooms are spotless. I have used this hotel before and would use it again. They arrange a car service to get to the airport which is great.

Review 95:The top floor of this hotel was being renovated and the workers were using the lift to transport building materials and themselves. Only one lift in this place is not good! In view of this the renovations should have been a advised to us prior to booking and a discount applied for the inconvenience. Is there a problem? We would not have booked this place if we had known. Good position in TriBeCa though!

Review 96:When we complained we were moved to a much better room with a view that was fully renovated. I cannot understand why room 327 exits. I suggest this be

Review 97:Bed was too small it was a twin and to upgrade to a queen was $50?!! The room was the size of a closet, first room was dark and hot (the loft room, dont be fooled its just a closet with stairs inside nothing cool about it at all!), second room was regular- but so cramped....Felt more like you were staying in a hostel with a tiny cruise ship sized bathroom. Will will not be staying here again.

Review 98:The loft room very claustrophobic and we were not told about the refurbishment work my colleagues room had the air condition hanging and a big gap to the outside. No breakfast room

Review 99:Service was very good

Review 100:The room is basic and rather small, but you don't come to NYC to stay in the room... For under 250$ per night it's fine. The closet is the only thing that was a bit too small. no place for a dress.

Review 101:The room was basic, clean and nice looking, with fan and AC. Bathroom is small but has everything you need, also good quality amenities. Wifi works great, TV great.

Review 102:The location of the hotel is great. It is in a nice area with a good selection of restaurants and cafes. Close to supermarket, Brooklyn Bridge and the subway is just below the hotel. The staff at the hotel are friendly and the rooms are nice.

Review 103:The noise! Bring ear plugs as there is no double glazing and there were constantly street cleaners/ road works happening at night. It sounds like your bed is in the road. The hotel really needs to invest in sound proofing. The sofa bed was also not comfortable so go for 2 twin beds!

Review 104:Location, opposite the Subway. Lots of nice places to eat within walking distance and a Starbucks literally next door to the hotel. Soho is a short walk on Broadway if you want to go shopping.

Review 105:Bed was too small and we are not big people!

Review 106:Great location. Room very small but practical. Bathroom like a closet but again had everything we needed. Nice area very close to World Trade Centre. Subway right outside. Good eateries near by

Review 107:We had a loft room, very quirky, low ceiling when you go up to bed but we liked this. Only a small 2 seater settee in the room but it was very uncomfortable, but we did not spend much time in the room anyway and it would not put us off staying there again or recommending the hotel to others.

Review 108:Location was excellent. Staff great, especially Josh always willing to have a joke with you. I would recommend this hotel. Subway a bit confusing as 4 entrances to Chambers Street but once you get the hang of it all ok.

Review 109:The air conditioner was like being next to an airplane engine all night. The water in the shower never remained constant. Hot, cold, hot, cold, etc No room service, they had to get anything you want from a local restaurant, a pot of coffee was $35

Review 110:Not much, it was near where I needed to be.

Review 111:space is fairly tight and window covering insufficient to block light --altho they remedied it when we brought it ti their attn

Review 112:Like the location and prices are reasonable. Staff pleasant and accomodating.

Review 113:I am sad that there isn't a breakfast place linked to the hotel. If it were possible to get quieter aircon dictionary that would be wonderful.

Review 114:I have been coming to the Cosmo for a number of years and the staff are unfailingly lovely and work hard to make my stay great. The location is excellent and having the subway outside makes all the difference

Review 115:Slow elevator. No option for breakfast, however there are plenty of alternatives close by the hotel. Rather noisy aircondition.

Review 116:This was the second time I visited Cosmopolitan. Nice, basic, clean room with good hot water pressure in the shower (6th floor). We asked for a quiet room and got one, although that means window view towards a concrete wall. Pleasant staff at reception. The Chambers Street subway is right outside the hotel. Good value for money. Good wifi in the room.

Review 117:The window looked out on a brick wall. Window mount A/C unit (but up high, at the top of the tall window) controlled by remote. The furnishings were very basic, but more than adequate. Didn't get to check out the fitness center. Overall, the positives outweighed the negatives.

Review 118:I really liked the staff here. I was promptly met at the curb as I was getting out of the taxi. The front desk man gave me an upgrade to a room with a small sitting area and pull-out couch. When my colleague crashed with me for one of the three nights, someone promptly came up to make the bed and there was no extra charge for the extra guest. Our business was at the World Trade Center and the location was perfect - only 2 blocks away. And the water was hot (be careful, if traveling with young children)!

Review 119:One slow elevator for the whole building (including staff) to share made wait times long. We couldn't find anything but a 7-11 open after 9:30 pm, on a Friday night.

Review 120:Room was clean and staff was very friendly.

Review 121:Nice neighborhood! Subway right in front of the entrance. Within walking distance from Brooklyn Bridge, Soho, One World Trade Centre etc. Friendly and helpful service. No restaurant but few breakfast options right around the corner. Highly recommend Zucker's Bagels. Rooms clean, nothing fancy but worked for us. Special thanks to Jennie in the reception. She helped us with everything!

Review 122:There were times when the noise level was pretty hard to take. Consider bringing ear plugs. For the most part, amenities were adequate (shampoo, hair dryer, TV, wifi, even an ironing board), but would LOVE access to coffee onsite. Please.

Review 123:Staff was very accommodating. Room was simply but tastefully decorated, small but fine for us. TV was better than the one we have at home. The location was exciting. We'll definitely stay at the Cosmopolitan again.

Review 124:Rooms are on the small side but that encouraged us to spend more time outside the room visiting the local area and tourist attractions.

Review 125:Staff were very friendly & helpful during our stay. Rooms and Hotel are very clean with daily maid service. Gym was small and had 1 x treadmill, 1 x Cross trainer and 1 x bike. There is also I bench with a full set of dumb bells. Equipment was excellent quality.

Review 126:The three ants in the bathroom belied the very high standards of cleanliness, they clearly just liked room 624

Review 127:Clean room, helpful staff even though j checked in at 10pm and out at 0600, booked me a car to the airport on a fixed price which showed up on time/early

Review 128:This hotel was directly above Chambers St Subway station, which was on the express red and blue lines so everywhere we wanted to go was accesible from here. Brookly bridge, Wall Street, Ground Zero were all within a short walking distance. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Room was quite small but that seems to be the norm in NY. Great value for money.

Review 129:Quite pricey, even given the location, in our opinion. The rooms were quite small. The bathroom, especially was very tight (we had 3 in our room).

Review 130:Loved the location in Tribeca. We used the Subway extensuvej9,and this location couldn't have been better situated. The staff was quite friendly and always busy. The beds were very comfortable and the rooms very clean. The Hotel was quiet as well, all plusses. They parked our vehicle in their own lot, so no concerns there.

Review 131:no in room kettle or mini bar, only one elevator for the whole apartment, The room had a window facing another building, i was not told this so the room had ZERO natural light

Review 132:great location near the subway, clean room

Review 133:The walls were so thin it was really uncomfortable to hear people coming back late at night and continue their partying in the room. Luckily the night manager was fast in resolving situation. The wait for the only lift was annoying and the scaffolding going on made hotel look worse than what it really is.

Review 134:Staff and location were best assets. Room was pratical. Comfy bed.

Review 135:We enjoyed being away from hustle & bustle of uptown while still staying a a vibrant area. The nearest subway is right outside the hotel which for $3 you were soon in Time Square. TriBeCa has some fanastic resturants, cafes & bars. The hotel staff were always friendly & polite.
