Reviews for Geysir Hestar

Review 1:Nice atmosphere, we arrived and our name was on the door to our room, never even saw the host :) We had a look inside the stables as well, with some horses, goats and cows. Very enjoyable stay!

Review 2:Cleanliness not up to Iceland standard and kitchen equipment not adequate for guesthouse on farm with no meal option. Walls between rooms like cardboard, could hear the neighbors snore

Review 3:Great location with the geysir so close by. Very small, very basic room, beds and nothing else. Enough showers for all. Should be classified hostel, not guesthouse

Review 4:Property had no signage and was difficult to find. Other guests at this horse ranch had the same problem. I would suggest putting a small sign by the entrance road.

Review 5:Very clean and close to Geysir and other sites on the Golden Circle.

Review 6:Charged us an additional $15 per person for a blanket for the bed and a towel. So paid $60 extra that originally expected. I would think for the cost of the cabin, a blanket on the bed and a towel would be included. Maybe they should publicize this.

Review 7:Cabin was cute

Review 8:We had to pay for towels and duvets and we did not know when we booked, (or we did not see this information). That was quite a big extra-charge.

Review 9:Wonderful location and the cottages are very cosy.

Review 10:We stayed in a cottage for 6. the little house is very nice. There were 2 twin beds downstairs and 4 single beds in a small addic, good for children only. No breakfast at the site, nor in any other place within half hour drive. So unless you are a family with children and bring your own food, this is not so good

Review 11:no locks on rooms from outside (I'm sure icelandic people don't steal but can't say the same about us guests)

Review 12:near the geyser and gulfoss waterfall, cheap

Review 13:We were not happy with our stay at Geysir Hestar. The place has actually another name, and we were unsure if we were in the right place, as nobody was there-we had to go to the horse stables to find a responsible. Though pretty, our cottage had no front door key and the only heating available was a couple of old electric portable heaters. Finally, we knew that we would have to pay extra for sheets and towels, but we found the price (2000 ISK/person, about $15) quite steep. Given that the nearest village is distant 25km, I would not recommend this place unless you have a special reason to sleep close to Gulfoss, or unless you want to spend at least 2-3 days in the area

Review 14:Small bathroom and the smallest shower cabin ever ;)

Review 15:The cottage was beautifully decorated, had all facilities, and was clean. Very quiet area. Perfect location between Geysir and Gulfoss.

Review 16:there wad no refrigerator.

Review 17:very friendly staff. The whole place was very dedicated to a world of horses even though we are not riders ourselves. very authentic decorations everywhere

Review 18:In our cottage, three of the five beds are at the mezzanine, accessible by a very steep ladder. Luckily our children have no problem in climbing up there, whereas if we had come with old people, we would have been in trouble! This should have been mentioned in the website. The WiFi and shower are in the common room, a little bit inconvenient though acceptable.

Review 19:The cottages is part of the farm with riding tours. We had a great time riding the Icelandic horses, including walking, trotting, totting and galloping! The cottage is small but very functional.

Review 20:The only thing lacking were a few more pots and pans and another hot plate.

Review 21:The location is marvelous, so close to Gullfoss. We had a wonderful view of Geysir from our bedroom. Also, the staff are knowledgable and welcoming.

Review 22:I was able to see the Northern Lights from my room! It was located between Gulfoss and Geysir.

Review 23:not well-signposted

Review 24:Very nice view of the landscape, quiet location, sweet furnishing.

Review 25:great if you want to stay close to geysir and break the golden circle into 2 days.

Review 26:Thin walls

Review 27:Friendly staff, nice location and the eating area was very nicely decorated.

Review 28:Perfect place to travel around the golden circle or for riding, very nice staff, cosy, clean and comfortable cabin.

Review 29:Location and price

Review 30:I was surprised that the blankets where for extra charge. Suggest to add a note to booking.com. The cottage was below the average condition.

Review 31:We didn't get a key to lock the front door

Review 32:Location

Review 33:The accomodation did not come with blankets nor pillows, we had to pay extra for the blankets and pillows

Review 34:Extra £10 each for use of duvets seemed expensive.

Review 35:Lovely cottage, beautifully decorated.

Review 36:A very nice cottage in a good position

Review 37:Not so energitic - warm people. Kitchen: old coffee filter still in coffee maker and some other hygenic items not so good.

Review 38:Nice cottages

Review 39:The cottage was wonderful! Would have liked to stay there longer.
