Review 1：The upper beds are a little bit unstable.

Review 2：Was perfect. You feel like home... "Home is where the beach is" . Everyone is amazing, from the owner to the stuff and Chico the dog. I will definitely go again, that place requires more than 2 weeks... That's for sure.

Review 3：The staff are absolutely lovely, so helpful and friendly. The atmosphere is so relaxed too, and there is a great sense of community with everyone eating together in the evening. They also put on bbq's very often, have super cheap beer, and breakfast free every morning. The location is perfect also, 5 minutes of walking and you're in the sea! Definitely recommend!!

Skateboards to borrow, TV to watch and Pool to swim in what else do you want !? Other than dorm rooms this is not a normal hostel its 100 times better !

My group wanted to have a relaxing vacation without the stress of being in a capital city, that being said if you actually want to be in Lisbon its about a 20 minute train ride, which can be slightly inconvenient. However that should not deter you from staying here because this place was bomb.

Review 17：The atmosphere of the hostel is extremely relaxed, a beautiful beach is 5 min walk away. Surf lessons provided are excellent and cheap. Occasional BBQ was delicious. A five minute walk to the train station makes it really easy to get into lisbon. Chico the dog makes for excellent company. This is our second visit and both times we have loved it.

Review 18：Was bit by some bed bugs first night, but that is very normal for a hostel. Leaving the matress in the sun for a couple of hours solved it for the remainder of the stay.

Review 21：On my first night I asked if I could join the next day's surf lesson, which I was told was not a problem. The next day however the group left without informing me, and when I asked I was told that the group was full.

Review 22：The most important and perhaps also most fluid aspect of a hostel to me is the people that stay there. At the time I stayed in Carcavelos there was a nice crowd with whom it was fun to go surfing and going for diner or drinks. A staff has a part in creating the right atmosphere for this and this was very well done. Furthermore the location is pretty nice, just outside Lisboa so it doesn't take long to get to the center by public transport, and close to the beach in a surfing area: ideal if you both want to go surfing and explore the city. Plus the hostel has nice areas to chill out both inside and outside.

Review 23：The owner does not care about the house, nor did the other guests. Dogs are peeing all over the garden and rooftop terrace. The kitchen was allways a mess. Breakfast simple and without any efforts. The private bathroom needs to be renewed --> completely disgusting. Nothing to lock something in the rooms - other hostels have those ones. Guests needed to change beds and rooms since the owner was messing around with the inventory and had no serious planning. Fortunately, we did not book surf classes there. We were told those were as bad as the accomodation was.

Review 24：I had an amazing time at Carcavelos Surf Hostel! Jose was a great host and looked after all his guests. The Hostel was clean with large rooms, great wifi and the backyard was huge with a BBQ and large blowup pool. The location is excellent and it is only a 2min walk to the beautiful Carcavelos beach and only a 5min walk from the train station. I cannot say a bad word about Jose and the hostel and I found myself extending my stay there numerous times. Thanks again Jose and Carcavelos Surf Hostel!

Review 25：Me and my boyfriend went sightseing all day long and when we would come back to the private suite it was always noisy from doors slamming, people partying to others sitting on the top balcony in front of our window. Some backpackers actually slept outside our window. Also at night, the parties were extremelly loud where the hostel owner Jose was also included. He had no respect for the guests that did not feel like partying. The bathroom in the private room stinks most of the time, even with the window open. Old hair in the shower drain. Staff was friendly, but they ought to be more prepared for meeting guests - i almost got a hammer in my head dropped from the second floor upon arival at their reception desk.

Review 56：I have stayed twice at Carcavelos Surf hostel. It is easy to find, weathere you drive or come with local trafic. The staff is excellent and very very helpful with anything from where to go and what to see to small things like translating from Portuguese to English. This time I did not bring my dogs, last time I did and they were wery welcome andaccomodating.

Review 60：A great place with wonderful stuff. We were given all the necessary information and received help, when needed it. All the members of stuff were always positive, smiling and ready to share a piece of advice. As for the place, it's a good hostel with comfortable rooms. There's a common kitchen, where there was an opportunity to cook for yourself (all the needed gadgets are provided) and even grill outdoors. We had breakfast and dinner at the hostel (the nearest supermarket, a big one, is 5 minutes from the hostel). Also we tried surfing, recommended by the hostel, and it was also great. It was the best vacations during the several years, full of smiles, laugh and positive emotions!

Review 62："there's no place like home", but there's exceptions! Carcavelos Surf Hostel was the Cherry on the Top. I went as backpacker Just to Relax, enjoy my time off and Rest away from stress. Don't feel wary if you're welcome for some relaxed-surfing young looking Man. "it isn't the places who make the people.. It is the people who make the places". Zé is the soul of the place. He'll be there at anytime for whatever you need..guiding and advising you the best places to eat, visit, relax, have fun... "just ring the bell" My Only Complain Was my Short time free. Despite being Recent, the Hostel has a fantastic location with all needed for our stay. Besides the friendliness and comfort, the supermarkets, the beach, the train, leisure and fun are 5 min walk. No Doubts i'll return Soon..

Review 68：The atmosphere and design of the hostel is unique especially for those who love water sports, because your are gonna meet people with the same craze :). I appreciate the position of the hostel, place to relax but nearby is everything you need. To relax or surf its couple minutes walk to the beach and if you want to go partying to Lisabon, its couple minutes walk to train (15 minutes ride for 1, 85 Euro to Cais do Sodre). The shop Pingo is also just within 5 minutes to walk. The garden is amazing, my most favourite place to eat breakfast, having barbecue, play badminton during windy days or just chating with some of other guests.The terrace is also cool place, like one of the guest said while we were sunbathing - "Its like having a private beach one step from my room". Jose and all guests I met there was simply cool, helpful people. I am looking forward to come back and bring there some of my friends for surf holidays asap.

The hostel is run by amazing host Jose Santa who works around the clock to make sure it is a clean and happy home. If you want to know were the best waves, ask Jose, if you want to have a barbeque, Jose will arrange everything for you, if you want to know the best places to have a drink, Jose will tell you and, most probably, he will have a few drinks with you. It’s a friendly hostel with a friendly host! The hostel is located just 10 minutes’ walk from Carcavelos beach (one of the best and well known Portuguese surf beaches) and if you don’t know how to surf, the hostel as very advantageous agreements with surf schools. Guests are mostly surfers so it is a calm and friendly atmosphere. The hostel is also near the train station (10 min walk) which you can catch to go to Lisbon (20 min train journey by the sea) Rooms are great, beds are perfect to relax and the garden lounge is cool. Highly recommended place to stay for those interested in a beach destination and travelling on a budget. I am looking forward to go back to the Carcavelos Surf Hostel!

Review 74：I love this place! I feel lucky to have found it, as it had been openonly for one week. It was extremely clean, and Ze the owner was friendlyand helpful. He has a surf school attached to the hostel, a bbq in theback, a badminton net, and an amazing prehistoric cactus garden. It wasa five min walk from the beach, the train station,the supermarket; andtwo all-you- can eat sushi restaurants. I love this place. It was handsdown the nicest hostel I've been to yet.
