Reviews for The Pearl Hotel
Review 1:Loved our huge room (606), beautiful bathroom, breakfast, evening snacks, awesome location, size of property, helpful staff, quiet at night. We will absolutely stay here the next time we visit NYC!
Review 2:on my 3rd day came back to room at 3pm and room wasn't cleaned yet and we were in rain all day and wanted to relax and warm up it also was fiancé bday bummed a lil bit but was cleaned in half hour
Review 3:great hotel and staff very friendly
Review 4:Everything was perfect
Review 5:staff is great, the room is gorgeous! I had a balcony that had the view of times square to my left! There was a TV in my bathroom with a very modern shower! I believe this will be the hotel i stay with all the time when i visit the city!
Review 6:The breakfast was consisted of a series of dry croissants and a second rate coffee machine. The single worst breakfast I've had in a hotel of that price.
Review 7:The bed was incredibly confortable
Review 8:Nothing
Review 9:The snacks in the lobby and the continental breakfast was a nice touch especially for a NYC hotel. Not something that is offered at most places in the city. Also (which I did not partake) they offered a wine and cheese hour which is also very nice
Review 10:All table lamp light bulbs were burnt out. Bathroom TV didn't work (disconnected by previous guests). Two beds in room, but we only got one set of towels most of the five days we were there and had to ask for more towels almost daily. And the refrigerator was not cleaned out. I took all the food leftovers to the front desk. Kind of gross, huh?
Review 11:Location! The rooms were quiet.
Review 12:Breakfast is an open buffet, very limited choice but adequate. Dining area is cramped and uncomfortable. Not the best of experiences.
Review 13:Location, small hotel with friendly helpful staff. Good sized room and facilities.
Review 14:The room was so comfortable and there was no road noise (amazing for NYC). The staff were really kind and friendly, the wifi was reliable and it was great to have breakfast on site (it wasn't amazing but to be able to wander down and get coffee and some food for free was fantastic). Good location - a little glitzy and touristy but easily walkable to most places and once in the hotel it was like being in a peaceful cocoon.
Review 15:I was staying alone and did not like that there was not a security bar on the door. The shower was an unusual design and not great, but overall fine.
Review 16:The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was contemporary in look and feel and very clean and overall very comfortable. A little small but not by NY standards. The breakfast was an added benefit that I was not expecting but really appreciated.
Review 17:Front desk staff were extremely rude and unhelpful, I have never experienced anything like it in a hotel. It wouldn't hurt people to smile either.
Review 18:Beds are very comfortable
Review 19:- Mini-frig temperature was low
Review 20:This is one of the best hotels in Time Square. Me and family of three and really enjoyed the stay. We love the continental breakfast (fresh fruit, cereal, bagels, eggs and pastries - from 7am to 10am) every morning. If you have a family like mine, I was the only person up at 7am, so I was able to ask for a tray and collect the breakfast items for my family. There are fruits, chips, and coffee available 24 hrs. This property is centrally located with various attractions within a 5 min walking distance; Time Square, shopping, restaurants, and even a grocery store Food Emporium. There was a microwave and mini-frig in the room. These are essential items to have in the room when you're traveling with a family. The best part of the room was the rain shower with a separate jest sprayer. Also, there was a separate TV in the bathroom; how cool is that. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The convivial staff brought extra towels, blankets and even ice and within minutes. The staff at the concierge desk was very helpful with directions and helpful tips on the attractions and where and what sites to visit. Great place to stay.
Review 21:No possibility of laundry service during weekend.
Review 22:Great location, 5-minute- walking-distance to Times Square. New and quiet hotel. Loved the breakfast buffet.
Review 23:Internet a bit slow Time square not the nicest spot in town
Review 24:Staff location nearby all the underground lines very big sized room for the NY standards
Review 25:We wish there were more beverages options for the 4:00 p.m. happy hour. The wine options were not good. It is a very expensive hotel in my opinion.
Review 26:We loved the location, staff were very friendly, it was clean, and we like the breakfast and snacks. We liked that it is also a smaller hotel.
Review 27:Room layout is awkward. You WILL bruise your legs and rip stockings maneuvering the very narrow passage between the bed (with it's board skirt) and the desk and chair. Very little counter space in the bathroom, and no hooks to hang your 'ditty' bags. Search thoroughly enough and you will find bedside outlets to charge your devices, although only those on one side of the bed worked.
Review 28:Location is superb for a trip focused on Broadway theater. Staff, including the doormen very pleasant and helpful. Comfortable bed. Good shower. Free wifi.
Review 29:We phoned down for some refill coffee that had not been refilled that day, not a problem, however it never turned up. A phone call at 12.30am for room service confirmation...we were asleep....we didn't ask for any, we had had room service delivered at 10pm. Just a couple of minor communication errors. All in all a nice hotel!
Review 30:Location,breakfast, staff were all nice. Free drinks and snacks all day in the restaurant, perfect! Plenty of staff around always willing to assist.
Review 31:Nothing!
Review 32:This is one of the nicest hotels we've stayed at. The room was large and quiet. The shower was AMAZING!!! The location was so close to everything. The breakfast and all day treats as well as the wine and cheese were great. We will definitely stay again!
Review 33:- The internet speed is not good.
Review 34:- The location! It's near to Times Square and to the subway so you are near to almost everything in NY. - The staff was professional and friendly. they send to me two voice messages about putting the not disturb card and they want to check if I want to clean the room, the second one if I want any help before checking out.
Review 35:Little dusty in area with tables and horrible choice on table cloths .
Review 36:Fantastic room great location value for money breakfastvwas a bonus and wine and cheese a great relaxing time in a fun busy city.
Review 37:I was told if I wanted a handicapped room, I had to pay more. Doesn't seem legal, so I complained and I was accommodated. Shouldn't have to complain to get a handicapped room. - also, hallways were very dark.
Review 38:room was modern. even though there was no automatic front door. I was helped with wheelchair through the door.
Review 39:I didn't need another tv in my bathroom but I would have loved a lowly kettle. Not everyone likes coffee.
Review 40:The bed was very comfy and the location of the hotel was very good.
Review 41:We booked a Queen size room but when we arrived found it to be too small with inadequate hanging space for clothes for 6 days stay. We upgraded to a King size Suite at extra cost. The larger room was excellent.
Review 42:The location and the friendliness of the staff were the highlights.
Review 43:We had an excellent 6 day break at the Pearl Hotel, we had a problem with our case and the staff were extremely helpful, nothing was too much trouble for them. Good breakfast. Would certainly stay and recommend this hotel again. Great location.
Review 44:Before I came I was unsure of the booking made by a third party. I sent 2 emails using your website. I never got a reply to either and had to phone from the UK.
Review 45:Lounge and it's facilities
Review 46:N/A
Review 47:We were made very welcome and despite arriving early we were offered our room when we expecting to just leave our bags. This was great. The next morning after checking out it was no trouble leaving our bags until later in the day.
Review 48:I didn't like the size of the bathrooms. With two people it was a tight squeeze in the bathroom and there was no dressing table mirror in the bedroom
Review 49:The location of the hotel was excellent and the staff were very nice and well informed
Review 50:I was annoyed that taxes weren't included in original price but that's more a fault of booking.com rather than the hotel!
Review 51:The location of the hotel is excellent as is the continental breakfast. Room was an excellent size and staff were lovely. Snacks throughout the day were a fab touch. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and can't wait to return.
Review 52:Would have liked fresher bagels for breakfast.
Review 53:Beautiful decor, modern, extremely friendly staff, great location, a/c worked very well, extra towels brought upon request immediately, convenient kitchenette in each room, everything was excellent!
Review 54:Staff are friendly and efficient without being pushy. Location was amazing. I was upgraded to a queen balcony (I have no ideas why) and that was amazing! It is a bit pricey but definitely worth the money!!!
Review 55:Doormen aren't that friendly (No biggie) Mediocre WiFi
Review 56:Best hotel to stay in New York City Amazing reception staff Shops, restaurants, times square, 24 hour grocery nearby (Perfect location) Free water, apples, chips and coffee all day (Not seen in any of the hotels I visited in the world) Family friendly
Review 57:Can't really fault this place!! Location location! In the centre of midtown, can walk to most places if not a short taxi ride no more than $10-$15. All the staff were super friendly and helpful. Good size of rooms, esp for New York most the hotel rooms are tiny. Clean, modern, good wifi. Breakfast was good for a continental (your not going to get anything more in NY). Would def come here next time we are in town
Review 58:The breakfast choice is poor even to US standards.
Review 59:Very central location, close to Times Square and the Broadway theaters, still the room quiet. Nice modern design, clean.
Review 60:Did not appreciate being pressured to "upgrade" to a bigger room, and being charged for it. We had already decided beforehand the accommodations which we needed.
Review 61:Room was clean, and had two flat screen TVs, and ample, easy to access outlets to recharge cell phones. Also enjoyed the daily continental breakfast and refreshments in the lobby.
Review 62:Didn't have such a great view from my room, but that's beyond the control of the Hotel. The Hotel is not that high so you are overlooking the roofs of other buildings across the road.
Review 63:Perfect Location, right by Times Square. Very neat & modern room. Staff was very helpful. I loved this Hotel.
Review 64:Fab location, rooms lovely, great they do complimentary breakfast, then cheeses and wines, water, tea coffee, snacks, biscuits .. Free wifi everywhere. In Times Square but not in the heart so you can walk out of hotel, turn the corner and boom your in the hustle.. Turn right out the hotel and your in Hell's Kitchen. Will 100% stay there every visit to NY
Review 65:The Pearl was the perfect location from which we explored Manhattan for five days. The staff was extremely welcoming, always helpful, and they made us feel right at home.
Review 66:Could use a little more variety for breakfast, extend the happy hour an extra hour...
Review 67:Location and nearby subways! Snacks, breakfast, and wine hour were convenient.
Review 68:Upon early arrival our rooms were not ready. When I booked in April I requested an early check in and confirmed this again the day before our arrival. Our room was not available until close to 4:00pm.
Review 69:The location was perfect for our stay. The rooms were clean and well tended to. Most definitely will return.
Review 70:the price is bit high and breakfast is very basic
Review 71:Locstion is fantastic. All interesting stuff around you. I like to mention abu who was very courteous and mourad also very helpful
Review 72:The location is excellent, breakfast is a staple great start to the day staff couldn't do enough for you always polite and happy to help would definitely recommend it to family and friends and would happily return thank you also for the champagne to celebrate our anniversary
Review 73:I had a problem with the cleaning of our room. We left at 8:00 AM and return to change for dinner at 5:00, our had not been done. When they came up and cleaned it they left only one (1) bath towel and one wash cloth so my wife and I had to share. Not a good look for a $400. a night Hotel!
Review 74:Location
Review 75:It would have been nice to have a residents bar to hang out in after returning in the evening. (There was the free tea & coffee in the room and the breakfast room & the EE Grill next door has a bar but is a bit small as well plus it's an eating place rather than a chilling out before bed place) Perhaps paid for hot breakfasts could be considered as the continental is basic and runs out of muffins. The small adjacent breakfast room is characterless with dull table cloths and could do with a bit of cheering up. I am picking holes here. You can't have everything at this value for money.
Review 76:Great location. Smaller and therefore more personal hotel. Lovely big rooms with excellent facilities. We received a free upgrade to a King on our return visit (we went out to Long Island in the middle of our stay) but the Queen room was equally as nice just a little smaller. I had booked on booking.com and could have cancelled the 2nd stay for another equally priced hotel but decided not to because The Pearl is hard to beat in this price range for value - free wifi, free continental BF & free wine hour (although the white wine is not great and 4-5pm is v early for wine - that's cup of tea time in UK, would be better 6-7pm)
Review 77:Well-appointed room with extremely comfortable king-sized bed. Quiet location very close to the heart of Manhattan. Exceptionally attentive and efficient staff. Free continental breakfast more than satisfactory.
Review 78:The "free" breakfast was just breads, OJ and coffee... similar to your typical motel chain. Expected more for the way it was advertised and the 4 star rating/ price.
Review 79:I liked the location, and it seems like the hotel was recently renovated. The room was nicely decorated and modern, as shown on the website...
Review 80:The entire staff was friendly, smart, helpful and caring. There wasn't any question they couldn't answer nor anything they didn't help you with. From arranging transportation to the airport at a great rate to making dinner reservations they rocked it! Will stay again on our next visit to the city!
Review 81:nothing
Review 82:NICE MODERN CLEAN HOTEL really close to broadway so perfect for broadway shows, our chicago musical is just next to the hotel and kinky boots a small walk from the hotel. It has soundproof openable windows, we really enjoy our stay in the hotel including afternoon wine and cheese reception, coffe, tea and water are available 24 hours a day. At the reception they can arrange you dinner or shows reservation and also airport transver in reasonable price. For broadway show escape I would definitely stay again in Pearl hotel
Review 83:Would have liked a proper coffee/tea cup and milk and tea in the room. Rather than a cardboard coffee/tea cup. Also a shame all the breakfast bowls, plates etc are disposable plastic. But none of this took away from an excellent boutique hotel.
Review 84:Location was fantastic, room was very comfortable , staff at front desk extremely helpful, breakfast was very generous and good.
Review 85:The staff was extremely accommodating and friendly. From the doormen, to the front desk staff, to the luggage courier- all were helpful, friendly and kind. Hotel was very clean. Hotel offered complimentary wine and cheese for one hour. It was a chance to mingle and get to know other travelers,as well as, have good wine and snacks! Highly recommend this hotel.
Review 86:Don't order room service unless it comes from E+E diner next door. The hotel doesn't have catering facilities as such but orders in from local restaurants. Our room service didn't come from E+E and was disappointing. E+E can be accessed through hotel lobby and is a wonderful little diner serving exceptional food.
Review 87:Lovely hotel in the heart of the theatre district, 2 blocks from Times Square (5min walk). The staff are extremely friendly and the hotel itself is nicely decorated and spotlessly clean. We had a suite which was very spacious though a little dark. But this is to expected when surrounded by tall buildings. Beds were super comfy.
Review 88:Extremely friendly and helpful staff, very large room and bathroom, very comfortable bed, in the heart of Times Square but quiet in our room (upper floor)
Review 89:Hotel clean, room & common areas nicely appointed, staff friendly, and close to subway & theaters. Nice having continental breakfast and late afternoon wine & cheese.
Review 90:The breakfast was lackluster. The coffee was cold and would've liked a better selection of food. The room service was "ok".
Review 91:The location is perfect! The staff was friendly also.
Review 92:Staff were rude and unhelpful room was un made on more than one occasion. Even when room was done it was done very poorly there would still be crumbs on the carpet that was very tired to begin with. The bed would never be completely made and was so uncomfortable and noisy. The toilet and sink would constantly become blocked and when your with a child this is certainly not what you would want. Kitchen came with microwave but no plates, dishes or utensils to actually eat with. When requested these we were sent plastic ones that were not able to go in the microwave. We paid so much money for this hotel and it was a complete waste.
Review 93:Free Internet, 2 seconds from times square and 1 door man is all this hotel had that was positive.
Review 94:We requested early check in and didn't get it, but they upgraded us for the inconvenience. I guess that's a drawback of a smaller hotel, but we were okay with it. There are nice first floor bathrooms we could use to change and freshen up before getting into our rooms.
Review 95:I liked the small size of the property - no huge lobbies or hallways to walk down after a long day of walking/working.
Review 96:The helper opened the door without allowing him. They don't have electric Cords or adapters
Review 97:Breakfast Sound Isolation was perfect Staff were excellent
Review 98:The hotel is well situated a stone's throw from Times Square and with several close metro stations. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was very clean and quite big. The shower could be a bit more powerful, but it is only a minor point.
Review 99:Nothing, everything was perfect.
Review 100:Friendliness and attention of staff Excellent location (literally a 2 minute walk to Time Square) Cleanness of the room lot of complimentaries ( such as free breakfast, wifi, wine and cheese, snacks etc.)
Review 101:We slept in in the 9-10:30am morning but the staff kept going in and out of the room next to us and the door banged over and over. We had a do not deserve sight out.
Review 102:concierge and staff at front desk very please and and helpful
Review 103:Excellent location, property extremely well maintained - everything looked next to new, quiet for a NY hotel, breakfast catered to both healthy types and those liking carbs
Review 104:I can not come up with anything.
Review 105:This was my second time staying this hotel. This time, we stayed in a room with balcony. Every room has a calculator but sofisticated. I love teir breakfast section on the second floor, looking down the lobby and ouside street.
Review 106:One night cost me a total of $432. Wish I had 3 people to split that with! Elevators were painfully slow. The hallways were warm and stuffy. Minor quibbles, though.
Review 107:Right next to The Ambassador theater showing Chicago (the sole reason for my visit). A short walk to Times Square. Huge room and bathroom! Television in the bathroom. Free continental breakfast which provided healthy options.
Review 108:Didn't like that breakfast dishes etc were plastic and just been thrown away! Does recycling not matter?
Review 109:Hotel had free wi fi, free breakfast and unlimited snacks! Location was perfect for Broadway shows,5 mins to time square, able to walk to Central Park, top of the rock etc
Review 110:Breakfast is just fair; good to have it on premises, but don't expect too much in terms of variety and quality
Review 111:Location; new/modern bathroom; clean room; courteous staff Not luxury or boutique, but high comfort level
Review 112:Nothing negative to say - really
Review 113:Excellent location combined with very well maintained property. Staff always very helpfull wanting to give the guests a comfortable stay and nice experience.
Review 114:Having only 2 lifts as one on occasion(s) was not available which meant waiting longer than necessary.
Review 115:Free afternoon tea, location, courteous staff & value for money.
Review 116:Hard to fault! New York prices I'm afraid and don't firget all the taxes that get added.
Review 117:Great staff, generous room size, hearty breakfast, brilliant shower, best mattress ever slept on... Everything outstanding
Review 118:Construction outside was very loud at 4:30am on last morning.
Review 119:Location was perfect. Beats a bigger hotel any day! No waiting for an elevator, nice continental breakfast, staff very friendly. We would love to come back next year!!!
Review 120:it feel strange when there is no lobby and big front disk
Review 121:everything in the hotel is amazing , they upgrade me to better room price was cool for the location (your beside marriot also near time square)
Review 122:Pull out couch Bed needed to be replaced. Called front desk and within moments a housekeeper put two duvet covers on. My daughter did need to sleep with her head where your feet usually rest...as the bed was not level otherwise. Didn't appreciate the difficulty getting in-room WiFi to work... nor the need to pay for business center usage. However, the front desk staff did easily print off our Broadway tickets for us. Great recommendations from concierge. The Grill next door was expensive, but very YummO.
Review 123:The staff was exceptionally helpful, polite and truly interested in assisting as needed.Every inch of our King pull out couch room was well decorated for asthetics & comfort. Bed linens and Bathroom towels are of exceptional quality. Large bathroom layout. Wonderful shower and bathtub! Individual thermostat worked like a charm... happy our window opened as well. Lighting was Perfect- literally a light where you needed it in both rooms. And, the closet lights turned on/off with the door opening and closing. Used our robes and slippers every night. Breakfast bar was perfect Continental. Stayed in room 909 which was quiet considering a half block off Broadway. Thank you for a Wonderful Stay! Will return in the near future.
Review 124:We have stayed here twice with our 2 teen daughters. Great hotel, very friendly and caring staff. Location is great as it is so close to Time Sq. yet just far enough for it to be quiet. Walking distance to many great restaurants in Hell's Kitchen. Room are big and breakfast buffet included with the room is very plentiful. We definitely will go back!
Review 125:Continental breakfast was fair but not everyones choice. We did find a really good diner down the street so didn't miss out.
Review 126:Staff were very friendly and helpful, the rooms were spacious and clean with modern facilities. The location was perfect and near to everything. The beds were the best.. so comfortable .. I would book this hotel again.
Review 127:Great experiance. The room is ver y clean. Crear location, very easy to get from the airport JFK and also close to subway station. Staff is very helpful and pleasent. Early checkout without extra charge on our first day. Also they kept our bags the whole day until we have to leave even after we did check out. Free Wi Fi with good connection. Another great thing was 10℅ discount to a restaurant next door which was very nice. Vine testing at 4 pm was nice, alghout nothing special but still very nice.
Review 128:nothing at all
Review 129:super staff, so helpful, great wifi, great breakfast included , cheese / wine tea and coffee in the afternoon. The doormen were brilliant too!!
Review 130:This is a wonderful Times Square vicinity hotel. Lovely staff, super comfy rooms that are quite spacious and a wealth of extras. Very nice breakfast in the morning too. We'll be back for sure!
Review 131:The whole staff was great! We arrived extremely early in the morning they invited us to the breakfast and held our luggage so we could enjoy our 1st day before we even checked in.
