Reviews for The Plaza

Review 1:We loved our stay in the Plaza over New Years for my husband's birthday. The staff were amazing, our room was beautiful and everything about the whole experience made us feel special! It's definitely a splurge but totally worth it for a special occasion.

Review 2:No internet other than for $ 15/ day, and I paid $ 1400/night! Internet must be for free at this huge price. Service zero: no slippers it the room, I had to call 2 times in order to receive and after 1,5 h received only one pair! We were traveling as a couple! On New Year's Eve the kitchen was closed at 11 PM already. They charged us $ 100 per person plus tax and tipps of 25% but we were not able to order anything, not even coffee: no warm drinks were offered. For such a hotel just inacceptable. Upon our arrival we got a plate with fruits. Half of them were not eatable, had to throw them away. Luckily we stayed only 2 nights. Otherwise I would have gotten mad. Really an unpleasent stay unfortunately. We had so great expectations. The room was however very beautiful, big and nice furniture. The hair dryer was very old and schratched.

Review 3:The room is beautiful.

Review 4:Staff were badly managed and most looked tired and grumpy and were pretty unhelpful. Not what you'd expect of such an apparently prestigious hotel and nothing close to The Savoy which is in the same group. Very disappointing.

Review 5:Location is excellent. Hotel itself is lovely if looking a little tired now.

Review 6:The leisure area in the main lobby is a bit too small. It needs to be opened up for casual conversation. One wants a place to spend time in between meals meetings or day trips. It sometimes gets too crowded.

Review 7:bath was old. I could not have bath at all during stay. For me comfortable bath is attraction. In this respect I was disappointed.

Review 8:I liked room with chandeliers and nice old furniture.

Review 9:Room service awful. Price are high even for all 5 stars hotel a was. Not compare with level of service. To noisy and nobody from staff will try to serve you well. "American service" -they don't like Russians may be)

Review 10:Concierge are all club dOr, good, fast, serious.

Review 11:1. First of all, all on your front desk are tired and not interesting in guests and their problems. They ask as to wait wile they looking for our booking from booking.com. They found after 15 minutes! But no excuse or sorry. Just go around we will call you when room will be ready. I was need sertanly room with Central Park view, it was booked. So, they didn't call. When we come at 14.30 room was ready for some time, but nobody call  ‎! Look, room rate of 2000 usd is not an Ibis bad and breakfast ...  All of them from reception was out of interest about me, my wife and 5 month son.  Only MARIE was trying to improve our story and find smth better room for us. 2. Room service. This guy on phone is know better what I need. May be he think I need to know English better than him? Or if I tell not Cristal He will send Cristal anyway? Mecarons was bed and old and smells bed. We throw it. Second day 17 Nov he stop our call just throw up my call when I was trying to explain what I need. He knows better. Bell boys - good. Waiters also, but not excellent. 3. Minibar in room - dish, glasses, no folk etc - very bad. 4. No coffee inside room- bad 5. Concierge - just good. 6. Driver of hotel on BMW evening 16.11 from 16.30- Sharif? ‎ ' exelent! 7. House keeping - bad. Miss cleaning morning 18.11 at all! Don't throgh rubbish from kitchen 16.11 day, evening‎ and 17 and 18! Baby cot - no linen for baby, just fleece! No pillow! Baby is not a dog! We have changed it 3 times and in the end send back baby bad. And no sorry again!

Review 12:Nice place, but you will not get Central Park view from all rooms. All Central Park view rooms-sold. It's a private apartments.

Review 13:We had an issue with the room and although it was resolved quickly it was unexpected and inconvenient.

Review 14:They go the extra mile! We were celebrating my birthday and there was a very delicious cake and card from manager (signed personally) within the room on arrival. The concierge are well knowledgeable and extremely helpful. The room was delightful; extremely comfortable (I'd loved to have taken the bed home with me) and is what you'd expect.

Review 15:I guess I'm comparing it to my last stay in the plaza last year. I felt it not the same standard . Considering a 2000 $ suit the cleaning was not what I expected . No appreciation for loyalty ( loyalty program )

Review 16:The luxury and location. Staff where so friendly

Review 17:No easy access for children stroller. Handy men always assisted us in lifting the stroller to the hotel and down from the hotel. Value of money

Review 18:The location was excellent, the staff friendly and helpful

Review 19:My daughter and I loved the overall experience. Great location, beautiful hotel, fantastic staff, wonderful service. I really do not have any complaints. Oh, love the car service they offer.5 Stars! Looking forward to returning.

Review 20:No coffee or tea making facilities in room and no room in pre equipped fridge to put milk. Breakfast very expensive.

Review 21:Good sized rooms and nice amenities . Great Location

Review 22:Staff was a little slow to respond to requests on iPad, e.g. towels, ice and burnt out light bulb in bathroom. Best bet is to call concierge with any requests.

Review 23:Beautifully decorated luxurious hotel. Rooms were very spacious which is rare to find in NYC. Overall first class worth the 5 stars.

Review 24:Lack of coffee machines in the room, lobby feels like you're on display, restaurant looks dated, staff is friendly in a robotic kind of way. Hotel is way too big. Would not stay here again.

Review 25:Beautiful decor, beautiful rooms, great location.

Review 26:We payed 1,657$ for 3 days , when we checked out and after 3 days ( wewere in another hotel in las vegas) the same amount was taken from myvisa again and by the plaza hotel!!! (1,657$ is taken 2 times) andwhen contacting the hotel they asked us to wait for 4 days to handlethis issue!!

Review 27:The location is more than perfect I liked everything in the hotel theroom is amazing it is a real luxury hotel . the staff is friendly andhelpful . the lobby is great. We had great time,

Review 28:During our week long stay their were several occasions when we had our hands full with bags and were struggling to enter the revolving door, none of the Bell men staff offered to assist. Which I find very peculiar for a 5 start hotel.

Review 29:The hotel location was brilliant. The rooms are spacious and they have the best concierge staff I ever came across.

Review 30:No towels in Both rooms on arrival and mini bar wasn't restock throughout 3 day stay. These are basics that you should not have to request. Also no in room facilities to make coffee or tea.

Review 31:Location and there were a few staff members that were great.

Review 32:It was disappointing: - booking a stay in Plaza and for that amount would assume getting first class service But the people serving a 50 dollars breakfast were very rude and it took them 35 min to bring basic order , The manager apologized but it was disappointing The housekeeping the room was very much below the standard - one day they forgot to check on the needs for the room from house keeping Unlike any 5 star hotel, you would not find even an apple , and we asked for a fruit platter was charged 100 dollars

Review 33:The location only

Review 34:Butler service wasn't that much help. elevators may be improved. In room ipad console wasnt working

Review 35:The doorman, the concierge, the dining staff and the reception. The food hall was great!

Review 36:The WiFi only worked on occasion. The television stations only worked once. When I called for a Bell Captain on the I-pad, they never received my request. I waited a 1/2 hr and finally called the operator. The Bell Captain said they never received my request the first time. The I-pad system needs work!

Review 37:The location and service, except for below.

Review 38:Bar staff on the ground floor too often ignored us in favour of other groups,Feel we were the wrong ethnic group

Review 39:Front door staff, concierge staff, chamber maids and floor butler all excellent

Review 40:Service is terrible. Calling concierge goes to a voice mail with no return call. Even the milk and cookies were a rip-off with 2 kids never getting theirs. Front desk rarely picks up.

Review 41:They were nice to give the kids a coupon for milk and cookies.

Review 42:Nothing everything was perfect!

Review 43:I was upgraded to a beautiful deluxe room because they ran out if rooms into category and also, because I requested to be on a higher floor. I could not conceive of a lover room or a more comfortable bed. I felt spoiled.

Review 44:They are oddly cheap with their bottled water. Three nights there and the last night we didn't ask for it so we didn't get any. Top floor in deluxe room had tiny windows otherwise a great room.

Review 45:Location is the best! The Champagne Bar was a swanky place to grab a small bite and glass of your favorite and enjoy your surroundings.

Review 46:no tea, coffee, kettle etc in a suite!! Ask for it and get charged to bring it. Wi-Fi extra (although to be fair then told to become Fairmont member and free). Breakfast astronomically expensive. In summary money-grabbing on everything extra when already paid a fair whack for a great hotel.

Review 47:iconic hotel, amazing location, central park running, gorgeous bedroom, food hall basement

Review 48:Nothing.

Review 49:The hotel is a perfect location looking over Central Park. The staff are very friendly and helpful. We had a suite with partial view of Central Park which was lovely, the suite was very large. The bed was king size & extremely comfortable, the best we had slept in at any hotel. Had a fabulous stay in this beautiful, iconic hotel.

Review 50:The rooms were not spacious enough. Poor sunlight exposure. Technology was somewhat outdated (TV remote and hairdryer were very dated, iPod dock was last generation, Wi-Fi for such a hotel should be free of charge and speedy).

Review 51:Iconic, luxurious building. Classic appeal. Friendly and well-trained staff. Beautiful bathrooms and furniture. Has a wonderful food hall & one of the best views of Central Park and Fifth Avenue. Big lobby.

Review 52:Paid WiFi.

Review 53:The hotels location was excellent. The room and bathroom was lovely, and we could just see the corner of Central Park. Breakfast was excellent as well with great service, but better to only have water to drink as the juice, teas, and coffee were very expensive.

Review 54:No pool! A hotel such as this one would expect a decent pool area. The gym was also very small but very well equiped.

Review 55:Great service. The team were brilliant and helped us with our room change to a higher floor with no problems at all.

Review 56:We have experience with The Plaza going back 50 years, so its deterioration is sad. "Deluxe" room on 58th had tracked vehicle demolishing bldg across st; when we were relocated staff acknowledged we should never have been given room for what that's worth. Service and overall quality of three, not five, star property.

Review 57:The staff were a complete turnoff and are the main reason I would not be returning to the hotel. There is not an ounce of genuine warmth from the staff, they are only interested in you for the tips you provide. Very disappointing as the hotel is so lovely. In addition, there was a complete lack of atmosphere in the bar in the evening. I am guessing this is due to the price of a drink - almost $24 for a glass of wine (this includes the tax and automatically added tip).

Review 58:Location was great. The rooms are spacious and luxurious. The food was lovely.

Review 59:My husband had cancer and our staff went out of their way to help us. Kaweed walked to a nearby market and got Muscle Milk for my husband. I had spa and salon appointments which were very expensive but worth it. The Plaza is an experience in itself:)

Review 60:I asked for a coffee maker, which was provided, but it was hard to get coffee or coffee cups on a daily basis. The TV (could have been our remote) was a bit tricky and we had a lot of problems with watching anything. Breakfast at $65/head was a bit rich.

Review 61:The rooms were well appointed and plenty of space (for NYC) in the Rose Suite. The location is excellent. I don't know if I would stay again, but it totally fit my expectations for a 4 day birthday treat.

Review 62:Service in Wintergarten not up to standard of 5 star hotel Response to requests no internet mail ac nor working for 2 nights needed to change room

Review 63:Location and room

Review 64:They didn't have much activities for children but it's ok they compensate on all the other services

Review 65:The food court is amazing and convenient and the room was a dream

Review 66:Compared to other Fairmonts stayed in there were too few public toilets resulting in large embarrassing queues. Really missed being able to make a cup of tea in our room first thing in the morning. A generous lounge area for house guests arriving and departing would have been much appreciated.

Review 67:Really enjoyed the grandeur of the building and uniformed staff. Only one incidence of staff being unpleasant/ unhelpful. It was hard to leave, would have liked to stay longer.

Review 68:I think wifi should be free considering the price per night. I would also like there to be a more kid friendly menu. My daughter is allergic to nuts, so a pb&j wouldn't work for her.

Review 69:Our trip was wonderful from the first moment we arrived! From the front desk to the bellman, my daughter and I felt like the most special of guests.

Review 70:No major dining room??? Plaza hotel due to year long renovations?? The nite menu at the palm court complete sub standard. Took way too long to get good, waitress was completely inappropriately dressed and unkempt, finger nails dirty.

Review 71:Staff, rose suite was great,

Review 72:Room without a view, felt claustrophobic! When I requested for a higher floor, which was dealt with very swiftly which was great, I wasn't told the room was very different (more like a studio apartment) and the window seemed to open up to an even closer wall of another building!

Review 73:The first room allocated to me, which however was on a very low floor,

Review 74:Room service / In room dining food was very disappointing.

Review 75:Pretty much everything. Really really enjoyed our stay. Afternoon tea in the Palm Court is quite special.

Review 76:It is trading on past glories. I have stayed in Gleneagles this year and this was nowhere near that standard.other than a food hall serving snacks, there are zero dining options+for a hotel of this size and reputation , you would expect a resident, well known chef and a more dinner option. The payment plan is ridiculous, a charge is put on your card as soon as you arrive in spite of the pre-paid deposit.not a good atmosphere to the general lobby; the bar areas are in sufficiently staffed for table service. My wife was also served a corked Chardonnay.if you are under 50, the staff are suspicious of you+not very welcoming

Review 77:The room itself was very nice and spacious

Review 78:Unfortunately the Palm Court restaurant was undergoing renovation and access to the temporary dining area downstairs was very poorly marked. We finally found it our second day.

Review 79:The classic elegance of this storied hotel was surprisingly welcoming. The staff manage to convey a personal interest in your comfort that seemed sincere. Attention was lavish and prompt.

Review 80:Luggage delivery to the room is slow. Requested extra luggage rack on the first day, had to call 7(!) times and after 6 hours the manager personally delivered it. Asked for another on the second day since our daughter was joining and again they again could not meet our request. After explaining the situation to a manager in the lobby, he responded very rudely. Though we love the hotel, probably will go to the Peninsula or Taj next time.

Review 81:Location and the hotel

Review 82:Hotel is beautiful, luxurious, the staff to include your own butler was incredible. Offer complimentary shoe shine service. They have one hour press for your clothes. This hotel is absolutely 5 star. We would never even consider staying at another hotel. Was our first trip to NY and were treated like royalty .

Review 83:Comfortable bed Very quick check in and check out Large bathroom Adjustable light intensities (very good for people with vision difficulties especially in low lighting) Large bathroom

Review 84:Housekeeping staff. They throw out my shopping bag with things in it.

Review 85:Location is really good. Very nice staff, Iliya from concierge helped us very well!

Review 94:Beds were comfortable Location is good

Review 118:Excellent service. We couldn't be happier with our stay. It was perfect.

Review 128:Location, bed and rooms facilities.

Review 129:Having to tip, every time someone smiles at you
