Reviews for Ports of Call Resort
Review 1:There wasn't anything we didn't like.
Review 2:For the cost, the location was close to the beach. It was nice to have the small shops there to visit as well as Jimmy's Dive Bar to eat casual meals. Staff there was very nice. Walking distance to several restaurants and shops in Grace Bay. Felt safe walking Grace Bay Road to shop or eat both day and night. Highly recommend Caicos Adventures for snorkeling. Have been other places, but this was a clean, quality boat and gear, friendly, knowledgeable staff, and awesome snorkeling.
Review 3:It would be great to have some food service in addition to breakfast.
Review 4:Outstanding staff. Great location. Although the hotel is located a block from the beach they still have their own beach chairs, umbrellas for guests right in the center of Grace Bay.
Review 5:Rooms could be cleaner... and the floors underneath the beds weren't tiled completely. (cutting corners??)
Review 6:Great location, very very basic hotel. Great value for money.
Review 7:The tile floor of the room was dirty. The layout of the room was not particularly efficient. Faucet leaked in bathroom. Management did address the floor issue prior to our leaving. Not enough beach chairs, towels not available for several days, shuttle to beach not available for several days.
Review 8:Centrally located - easy walking to restaurants and shopping.
Review 9:It was nice that we got a welcome drink and the man who delivered it to us was very pleasant. I wish I could say the same about the front desk staff who at the time of check in obviously would have rather been someplace else or so their attitudes reflected on the way out bills were getting messed up left and right around us.
Review 10:Location was good !
Review 11:One thing we did not like is that the beach attendant is asked to retire and lock the chairs and rented umbrellas by 4.30PM. At that time the sun can be still very strong. We understand the need for this but we believe it would be better to delay this at 5.30PM or something like that. Breakfast could have more variety.
Review 12:We liked the resort. It is very close to the beach, a well-furnished grocery store and several restaurants and shops. The room was good, with a big comfortable bed and a mini-fridge. The staff was generally friendly and helpful. It's a small, intimate resort that creates a relaxed, familiar atmosphere among staff and customers.
Review 13:Wasn't nearly as glamorous as the other resorts, but would absolutely book here again if traveling in the future
Review 14:The location is ideal- easy walking distance to beach, grocery store, shopping and numerous restaurants.
Review 15:The staff were amazing!!! I had my grandchildren (one and three) and everyone was so lovely with them. My grand-daughter loved Danny who drove us to the beach and was so great with the kids as well as helpful with my father who is 87. "Mr" Watson and Martin were also a big hit !!! As a matter of fact all the staff at the resort were very friendly and helpful. Close to restaurants and the grocery store! We really didn't have to rent a car.
Review 16:Breakfast was basic (toast, cereal, hard boiled eggs), but it was free. No room service.
Review 17:Clean, modern, across the street from the beach. Very friendly and helpful staff.
Review 18:The staff were awesome. Kendra Evelyn and Martin were very helpful helping make our first trip to the island memorable. We will be back for sure one day.
Review 19:The room was a musty because of being a sealed unit....mold on the ceiling and damp clothes in the morning. The safe did not work room 267. Housekeeping came and replaced musty pillows and maintenance came as well to fix safe, both within an hour. Fantastic team!
Review 20:The front desk receptionist was super friendly and helpful. The staff were chipper and happy and the location was right next to a well stocked supermarket which made it all very easy.
Review 21:We got a room with two beds even though we had asked for a room with one. We are pretty flexible so we were willing to comprimise and stay 3 nights in the room with 2 beds, and then switch.
Review 22:Fyi if you have more than 2 people in the room they charge extra per person per night.
Review 23:Close to grocery store, restaurants and bars. Beach is a quick 3 minute walk.
Review 24:Front desk staff had difficulty looking up from their computer screens when guests walked by. A good morning and a smile go a long way. A solution could be looked into regarding the amount of plastic waste generated at breakfast.
Review 25:Location was within a short walk of the beach and many restaurants. One of the few hotels that provide a breakfast included in the price. Highly recommend Via Veneto in the Ports of Call plaza.
Review 26:There Seems To Be A Bit Of Lack Of culture. I really don't want to offend any locals, but you could tell who was from the island because they were quiet and reserved.
Review 27:The location is excellent. We didn't bother using beach shuttle because the short stroll was nice. I loved the towel service and beach attendant. No one bothered us to buy stuff, and the restaurant access from beach was great.
Review 28:Wifi kept breaking occasionally. The staff started roaming around hallways from very early in the morning (6-7am), which always woke me up unfortunately... the towel hamper on wheels makes quite a sound on tile flooring! Perhaps this could be reorganised somehow. I am mentioning this because I specifically asked for a quiet room when booking (and confirmed my request when checking in). I know it's just a request, but had to be mentioned! The usual guy behind the bar (Watson?) is less than enthusiastic about serving anyone and often spends his time anywhere but behind the bar. I had to ask the reception for him a few times... on the days when he wasn't working, however, his replacement was super friendly and helpful, even went around the pool proactively asking people for their drink orders! The hotel has a "laundry room", which includes one washing machine and one dryer - using these (+detergent) once costs you around 15USD. Considering the state of this room I would highly recommend to change this into a free service - I felt uncomfortable going there on my own if it was already dark... it's a bit messy and the staff hanging out around the corner just made it a bit off putting. The breakfast is simply put poor, which I fear is actually making it into something negative to the hotel, as the quality of the breakfast simply doesn't correspond to the overall quality of the hotel.
Review 29:The location is very convenient, as the big supermarket (has great deli/salad bar/sandwich bars too in case you want to pick up a small snack for lunch), loads of restaurants and bars and of course the beach are all close. I also highly recommend the pilates studio (Studio 90 Degrees) next door, they are amazing! They charged me 50USD for an unlimited number of pilates and yoga classes in a week - I went 5 times, so this was a great deal. The instructor is really good. I also visited the gym at the hotel every day and found that very convenient.
Review 30:My fault, I did not realise that balconies were not standard, so our room had no outside space which was claustrophobic. Plastic! Beakers, knives, forks, plates. Breakfast choices reasonable, but eating and drinking out of plastic not civilised, for us Brits anyway!
Review 31:Lovely pool Well maintained hotel Chairs and umbrellas (8 dollars ) available on designated beach 300 metres from hotel
Review 32:My family complained the beds were uncomfortable. I thought they were fine. How do you please everyone! The pool was unable to be used our second day due to repairs.
Review 33:Loved the pool, the decor, the location, good value.
Review 34:When you come from the beach, full of sand, all you need is a good and strong shower. And they do not have it. The shower is typical american built-in, non movable and I assume it is the case elsewhere too, however, I think it is time for Ports of Call to change shower heads at least. Ours was full of limestone and therefore the pressure was not strong enough to rinse all the sand from my hair and not even from the feet (unless you lift them high enough :) ). The stream of water is simply bad.
Review 35:This is a very conveniently located and organized humble resort. With swimming pool and bar area in the middle, and everything you need just walking distance - shopping, rent-a-car, restaurants, supermarket, etc. If you are going for self-catering, it is really a perfect location. Close to the beach as well and it makes a nice walk. They also offer a complimentary breakfast which is a cool concept but it is also very basic :) Staff was very helpful and kind. We went to Grand Turk for three days and they kept our extra luggage for the time being. Very nice!
Review 36:Did not like the walk to the beach and the shuttle service wasn't always available.
Review 37:I like the location and the room was ground level that made it convenient to the pool and front lobbby.
Review 38:I liked everything
Review 39:2nd time staying here in the last 6 months....just love the location...staff...and .accomodation...great continental breakfast ...pool and bartender...bingo was fun!....I will be back
Review 40:Pool area lacking shade (only under the umbrellas), not directly on the beach, room needed some attention
Review 41:Great location in town, staff were awesome - friendly and helpful, good pool area
Review 42:During our stay, someone tried to open our hotel room door and claimed to be by mistake, which made us worry a bit about safety.
Review 43:Convenient location to the beaches, shops, and restaurants. Good price without much sacrifice in service quality. Very efficient and friendly hotel staffs. We were greeted with a free rum punch during our check-in, which was a very nice touch. Complementary continental breakfast was great, which saves us time to look for place to eat early in the morning.
Review 44:Structure, very noise. To many noise families..
Review 45:Location
Review 46:TERRIBLE BREAKFAST PLACE
Review 47:Great value for Turks & Caicos, great location
Review 48:Close to the Grace Bay Beach. The hotel has its own area on the beach and provides sun chairs for free but charges for umbrellas
Review 49:Shops
Review 50:None
Review 51:The friendliness of the staff especially the warm greetings and info from Mr. Jolly. The location was excellent.
Review 52:Boring breakfast , some of the reception employees look fed up - need to smile more .
Review 53:Location , value for money , comfort
Review 54:Nothing
Review 55:Everything
Review 56:The staff are very friendly and helpful and the hotel gives excellent value for money compared to others in the area.
Review 57:The wifi is extremely unreliable and the breakfast could have been better. Also it is very inconvenient not having a restaurant on the compound.
Review 58:Breakfast
Review 59:Wifi was good
Review 60:The staff was friendly and efficient. Was centrally located to shops, restaurants and the grocery store.
Review 61:Great friendly staff!
Review 62:Staff aren't clearly briefed on policies to adequately relay them to hotel guests.
Review 63:Beer was over priced island wide.
Review 64:Everything was within walking distance.
Review 65:Continential breakfast was sub par for the price of the room and it was sad to see them using styrofoam plates etc and no recycling.
Review 66:location and accessibility of shops and bars etc and very close to the beach
Review 67:The pool was in the shade by early afternoon.
Review 68:Great place to stay for the price. Plus there is a dive shop in front of hotel.
Review 69:Room smelled musty and felt humid. Wasn't sure what the darks spots on the ceiling were.
Review 70:Good location. Decent breakfast.
Review 71:cost to take a taxi
Review 72:proximity to beach shopping nearby ability to walk Grace Bay to restaurants ease to book activities
Review 73:Water pressure in the shower too low but guess that because the shower only has a single fixed door covering half the shower
Review 74:Environment and room
Review 75:Location was great...close to shops restaurants and beach
Review 76:Breakfast location was dull. We would have liked breakfast outside by the pool
Review 77:Location was very convenient, as we arrived late evening from delayed flight, en route to Columbus Cottage, Leeward next morning
Review 78:Breakfast was basic continental but there is a restaurant in complex if you want a bigger breakfast and grocery store is so close you can get anything you would want.
Review 79:Great location and value for the money. Nice to have a refrigerator and coffee pot in room. Short walk to grocery store, restaurants, and beach. Pool was nice. Most of the staff very nice and helpful. I would highly recommend and would go back.
Review 80:I kept trying to have the sheets changed daily because I sweat a lot and they kept putting the same sheets on even after my request. The men on staff were constantly hitting on my girlfriend when she would come down stairs without me felt that was inappropriate considering they saw her with me. The continental breakfast wasn't managed well.
Review 81:We enjoyed the hotels location and the on site entertainment like scuba and the bar and closeness to the beach.
Review 82:I don't have anything negative to say about this hotel. It's not high end luxury but neither is the price! It's a very good value for the money. If you are from the States, I would compare the inside of the hotel room to a Days Inn type hotel...except you are a short walk away from one of the most beautiful beaches in the world!
Review 83:Great location!! There were a couple restaurant choices and a bar within a one minute walk and a gourmet grocery store right across the street. Also a couple minute walk to Avis if you want to rent a car for the day. Pool and outdoor ambiance very nice and only a 5 minute walk to the beach at Grace Bay. I would highly recommend making a stop at Taylor Bay Beach if you rent a car.
Review 84:The cost was more than our previous visit 2 years ago. We left your facility due to lack of availability and were forced to go to Turtle Cove due to our original plan falling through due to govt issues with our live aboard. Ports of Call was hands down a much better place. Due to the govt issues I will likely never return to Provo but not due to your facility.
Review 85:We loved the location and things near by including the grocery store, beach, restaurants and small mall area.
Review 86:poor wifi and only one lobby computer working. Continental breakfast layout does not flow well, layout needs to be improved.
Review 87:goo grace bay access to beach and shops for the money
Review 88:the breakfast lounge is kind of small, and it gets crowdy when the hotel is full. But once you get your coffee, you can take it to the tables outside or even your room balcony.
Review 89:my room was nice and big, exactly as the photos shown in the web. Pool area, excellent Excellent location, near the beach and near many shops to eat, buy gifts or just walk around
Review 90:the bathroom was very clean but it is clearly old... if they change the bath the room would be perfect for the price you pay. in Provo you find a lot of mosquitos so prepare to kill some and buy some to spray and safe your legs and arms! ;)
Review 91:ok the resort was perfect for us... great value for money in Provo... it is not on the beach but it is just a 5minute walk that we found pretty nice and enjoyable. the pool, the jacuzzi and the bar on site where great to have a drink and relax after a day on the beach... they have as well ping pong and a pool table if you want to spend some time relaxing... they best thing is that they let you bring your lunch/dinner from the outside and have it on the tables that we found just great... the resort is in a perfect location with so many bars, restaurants, supermarkets, shops, car rentals, diving shops, etc all within 5minutes walking... considering the high prices in Provo we believe this small resort is a gem.. staff was good and the room had a great bed and a small mini bar to keep fresh some fruits and drinks... we had a room without balcony but it was good as well... i believe the best rooms are those with balcony looking to the pool in the first floor. Grace Bay was good but rent a car (it cost only 40us) and go to Taylor Bay and Sapodilla... are just incredible...
Review 92:- Breakfast - The wifi broke down and they were fixing it for 3 days (there was a working wifi in the lobby) - They should improve the quality of cocktails offered in the bar - you could get a very good cocktail in Jimmy's Dive Bar for the same price!
Review 93:- Very helpful staff - Quiet hotel if you're staying there in June - The beach was wonderful and almost empty in June - Nice pool - Clean and spacious rooms, newly renovated - Beach shuttle was a convenient thing when taking a lot of stuff and an infant to the beach - Ideal place for vacation with an infant
Review 94:In the morning, sometimes on the beach there were not enough chairs. You had to wait for the beach transpo driver to come and take them down.
Review 95:That it was convenent to mostly everything.
Review 96:While I searched for a room to accommodate 3 people, I didn't findout that I'd have to pay extra for that person until I arrived atthe hotel. Breakfast could have been a bit more robust.
Review 97:While the hotel wasn't beach-front, the beach was close and it wasin close proximity to the grocery store and shopping.
Review 98:Nice place ti stay in Provo, near a beautiful beach, close to friendly restaurants and bars. A peaceful swimming pool in a lovely tropical garden. I loved this Hotel
Review 99:Entered room and killed 30+ mosquitos, returned to find and kill another30+ mosquitos,we could not sleep at night due to persistent issues withmore mosquits,no room change available, horrible experience I would notnot return to ports of call we rented a villa in provo for 9 days priorwith out any issues with mosquitos I have lived (not vacationed) on manyother north atlantic islands and understand that dealing with mosquitcan be part of life but not during the dry season and not at the roomprice they charged very tired and disenchanted with the experience wouldnot return to this establishment nor recommend it!!! We stayed in room105 on 3/23/13 and do not want this review to be anonymous andwould like to be contacted by management
Review 100:Good location close to beach fairly quiet no loud nightime activitiesfriendly accomodating staff
Review 101:Initially we were given a room on the 3rd floor facing the parking lot.We are seniors with heart problems so that with no elevator, thislocation was life-threatening. We were relocated the next day to groundfloor facing the swimming pool which was quite acceptable.
Review 102:can't think of anything
Review 103:Front office staff was welcoming, check in was easy. Our room was clean, larger than expected, with a mini fridge. Pool and hot tub were great, but the beach was amazing - just a short walk. We did so many amazing things while on vacation - snorkelling, kayaking, whale watching (Salt Cay) - and some shopping. Great restaurants a short walk away and I always felt safe. Bella Luna was particularly lovely.
Review 104:Hard to complain about anything in light of the many plusses. There was a very gregarious bunch of guests when we were there, and they could use a bigger hot tub because there wasn't enough room for all of us. The breakfast buffet choices weren't expansive, but there are several restaurants steps from the front door.
Review 105:Great value for the money. Only a block from their own section of the beach, and they also have a tram to run folks who prefer not to walk that far. Most convenient hotel to the restaurants and shops of town. One block from an excellent (and the only) grocery store/deli/carry out/liquor store in town, and the hotel allows guests to bring their own food and drinks to the tables around the pool, That's a plus because many of the local restaurants are pricey, so you can also save even more money that way.
Review 106:There is a sad contrast between the luxury and the reality. Afterarriving at Providentiales, if you drive at night directly from theplane to your beach resort at Grace Bay and stay there during the wholeholidays, you'll know nothing about extreme poverty and desolationof Provo. North and middle island are wild and beautiful.
Review 107:Grace Bay is the nicest beach ever seen. Restaurants are accessible tothe non residents of the luxury resorts. That is absolutely a must.Anyway, people are friendly and peaceful. We discovered the hotel Portsof Call thanks to Booking.com and thanks to the comments of an englishman called Karl who said everything that has to be said. Except he ismuch faster than me when walking :-) Thanks anyway!
Review 108:Broadly speaching, the staff is helpful and kind. However, there is an unpleasant front desk attendant.
Review 109:It is a clean and well located hotel. The value for money is good.
Review 110:It didn't have public showers. Something we needed since we had alate flight.
Review 111:The price was very reasonable compared to most other hotels on theisland. The compromise was that it is set back from the beach and so nobeach view. The hotel offers a shuttle service to the beach but the walkis about 5 mins so not an issue. It is also next to a supermarket withlots of healthy options. The room was of good size and the beds werevery comfortable. Nearby are a few shops and restaurants so we were verypleased with our choice.
Review 112:While there has been a clear effortPorts of call offers superb value for Provo. The hotel used to be part of a budget chain and has recently been obtained by a new owner (a very charming Canadian who took the time to chat to guests). The hotel has just undergone a facelift and the idea is to keep the value prices but add slick style and little touches of luxury. While the hotel is by no means as fancy as the super super five star hotels, it is functional, stylish, friendly and very well located a two minute walk from both the beach and the islands best supermarket. Frankly, when you are going to be spending most of your time on the beach or in the sea, with the opportunity to dine around the island in the evening, why bother spending three times at much at one of the five star hotels. Speaking of which, the Ports of Call beach sits right next to the Seven Stars beach (one of the most expensive resorts on the island). The beach boy was really helpful, arranging loungers upon request. There are only 30 sun loungers available on a first come first served basis, however I never saw them run out. There's none of that silly placing towels out at dawn business. Rooms are clean and simple with a small fridge, comfy beds and an excellent powerful shower. Luxury toiletries are complimentary. The pool is very cool, with coloured lights at night and substantial day beds. Something that you would expect to find at the hip Gannesvort. to inject vibrancy, which shines through in the common areas, the rooms do feel a little bland. Some pictures would be nice. This is a very minor point however. The majority of staff were lovely, but one FOH receptionist lacked charm. It may just be that this person was new to the role. Breakfast was just ok although adequate for the price. If you like toast/yoghurt/pastries then it's fine.

Staff are friendly and keen to help. Those travelling on a budget, which is nigh on impossible in TCI, can buy food for lunch and dinner at the adjacent supermarket and use the hotel's microwave to heat things up. There are plenty of tables on the terrace and by the pool at which to eat your own food.
Review 114:Of course the breakfast! They know then can improve it, but again, the price is great and you can go to the supermarket or have breakfast at a super nice place 2 mins walk that had really good traditional breakfast at a reasonable price.
Review 115:It was perfectly located, it is a 5 mins walk to one of the best beaches of the island and the rooms were big and comfortable. Staff was super friendly. Also the hotel is located close to everything, there was a gourmet supermarket just 5 mins walk as well and a mini shopping mall where you could rent a bike or schedule a diving tour or have breakfast and lunch. Close to a Patties Place where they sold the best ice cream in town. It's a great value for money because the rest of the hotels in the area are so expensive and then you would be clustered in a resort, whereas at Ports of Call you are in the city and at the beach and you can live the local life.
Review 116:Good value for money for Grace Bay
Review 117:Location was fantastic and the rooms were cleaned on a daily basis
Review 118:Great location
Review 119:Slow at cleaning rooms; horrible breakfast
Review 120:breakfast area needs better layout the flow is crowded and very awkward
Review 121:Breakfast is a joke.
Review 122:Really clean, comfortable, great for the value
Review 123:Friendly and convenient to all areas of Provo
