Reviews for EZ 8 Motel South Bay
Review 1:doesn't allow service dogs, ac unit didn't work, the unit was so loud and jumped so much, we thought it was going to jump out of the wall. Too much noise from the freeway. Carpet old and worn.
Review 2:The only thing good about this hotel is their Jacuzzi.
Review 3:Staff was not friendly, their was loud noises all night, housekeeping did not change the beds, alot of foot traffic going in and out of the room next to us.The tolet ran all night long had to shut the door, WIFI was not avaliable in the room like it said The room had a bad smell.
Review 4:They only thing i like was the location close to my son and daughters house.
Review 5:I didn't realise this is in a rough area and notorious for soliciting. My sink was dirty in my room, the bed wasn't comfortable and sheets were horrible. Very loud as right by the freeway and I checked out a day early due to the "activity" on my last night - security was around but I didn't feel safe staying alone in my room with a strange man lingering outside my door as soon as I got in. I didn't get a refund for the last night but to be honest I just wanted to get out of there. Please pay more and stay elsewhere, and if you're a girl traveling alone like me, definitely don't stay there. It's not the best location anyway.
Review 6:Reception were nice enough
Review 7:The bed was very uncomfortable. The shower was hot, then cold, and produced a small stream of water. And a roach crawled across the dresser.
Review 8:Friendly staff
Review 9:Bad location. Shady charactord e alking around, and they had 3 security guards wandering around, that tells me they've had past problems. I was not comfortable there. Would not ever stay there again.
Review 10:Nothing
Review 11:The main thing I didn't like is 1) false advertizing.. Said it had"free wi fi" and I couldn't even get my cell phone toconnect! I even went to wal mart to get another wi fi adapter for mycomputer thinking it was my computer. Come to find out the manager wasdiscouraging the use of "Boingo" told us to jump onto Dennysfor internet. Well that didnt work. The whole time there we spent tryingto hook up our intrernet! Changing our computer settings and it was themanagements fault for not even having the router connected! Wheres thefree wi fi there? Not to mention we rely on it as part of ourjobs.COMPLETEY Disatisfied and would like to get my money back! Oh.. Andeverytime I got back to my room I was approached by a young ladyw/baby wanting to sell me things just to keep her room. I felt likeI was at the boarder where they try to get you to buy their stuff whileyou wait. Unbelievable! Definitely 2 thumbs down to this placeCouldn't wait to vacate!
Review 12:The I did like the fact it was close to a freeway. Because itsalong way out!
Review 13:I wouldn't stay there if I had brought my family. I was solo so was good for the price. Rough neighborhood.
Review 14:The basics clean room friendly helpful staff.
Review 15:Not enough parking, had to park in the street across from hotel.Didn't have wifi cuz I didn't want to pay for it.
Review 16:It was around the corner from Walmart,it was close to the civic center where my daughter and niece went to a concert at, like 30 seconds from taco bell & dennys.
Review 17:none of the simple amenities. TV old and bad remote. Airconditioner too loud. Placed in a room close to traffic after I requested the opposite.
Review 18:I was a one night stay.
Review 19:Wifi should be included free for guests, hot tub should keep later hours for adults, didn't like the screaming kids at the pool first thing at 9am-
Review 20:We liked how close this location is to the beach, we also liked the price.
Review 21:The cable for the TV wasn't right and would fall out so we watched fuzzy TV. I paid for my room and we expected the TV to work when we laid down. The staff wasn't friendly at all.
Review 22:It was close to the concert we went to and it had a pool
Review 23:Not having wifi sucks. Sucks.
Review 24:The location is good for Comic Con - near a tram line and it's aneasy ride to the center. The location is bad for the sketchy area andnoise right next to the highway. The staff were helpful and moved usfrom a smelly smoking room to a bearable non-smoking room. The pool andoutdoor hottub are nice.
Review 25:None
Review 26:The hotel price was great overall. The bad reviews I see online are lies. The truth is you get what you pay for. The location is clean the staff is great. Close to beach, stores, shops, food.Security, cameras and it is safe because police dept is a mile away. If you are on a budget it is perfect.
Review 27:If you want to use the elevator, I recommend parking in the back. There's no good access from the sides. The air conditioner in my room couldn't quite get the room cool enough. That might be where I'd spend money on upgrades in the future.
Review 28:I stayed here about 4 years ago and thought it was OK but the carpet was kind of gross. In the intervening years, they've obviously either replaced the carpet or given it a very thorough cleaning. Very nice improvement.
Review 29:The smell of the room, it smelled damp. We found a cockroach as we enters the room. The TV' are really old. wifi was not recomended by the staff. To much security. They did not let us be outside our rooms because there was a drive in cinema close to our location.
Review 30:The staff was real friendly and very welcoming.
Review 31:A little bit of trash here and there on the premises, nothing offensive really.
Review 32:Next to highway, but super quiet. Nice pool and hot tub. Convenient to rail into San Diego.
Review 33:We had a third floor room and it was facing the freeway. We could hear the traffic all night long. The towels were see through this.
Review 34:The staff was very friendly.
Review 35:We had stayed at the Old Towne location for nine nights and needed one more night before I flew home. OT had no vacancy, so I booked at this location. My daughter, niece, great niece and my niece's dog were all with me that last night. It was great!
Review 36:A guy was sleeping on the stairs and had a attitude when I asked him to move so that my family and I could walk upstairs....
Review 37:Price... Very comfortable... Quiet... Close to beach
Review 38:There were bugs on my pillow when I woke up the carpet smelled like rotton and u could tell they take no time to clean bathroom
Review 39:A hotel where there isn't bugs
Review 40:Room was to rear of hotel and so adjacent to highway; there was a lot of road noise throughout the night. The room seemed dark and dated, and overall over-priced.
Review 41:Very clean room and pleasant reception staff.
Review 42:They put us in a handicapped room; knowing that we are not disabled. Restroom was making weird flushing noises all night.
Review 43:It was close to fast food chains and a Denny's Restaurant. Cant complain because it was very affordable.
Review 44:We were given the wrong ez8 motel and they didn't let us transfer to the old town ez8 motel. Also it wasn't updated. Everything look like the 60 style. The carpet seem dirty and needs to be replace. As well it had an odor to the room.
Review 45:I like that it was close to the beaches.
Review 46:Shower water temp fluctuated to very hot randomly..carpets could use steam cleaning, sons socks got pretty dirty walking on carpet...but overall for price was fine for our needs.
Review 47:Been staying here since 1986...location is centralized to my needs, refridge is great, beds comfty, added security guard around was nice as well.
Review 48:Police where on the property at least 2x per day. Was almost jumbed in the elevator by a transit street man my 1st night when checking in at midnight. Reported to the front desk. No one did anything. Found rouches in the room. Dirty rugs Mountains of hair in the drain tub. Bathroom door wouldn't open. My husband had to push the door open to let me out. This is dangerous in the event of a fire. Checked in at midnight, stayed 12 nights, requested a 15 minute late checkout- was denied. Bad customer service. Will never go back.
Review 49:Pet friendly
Review 50:dirty carpet,no shower, t.v bad reception, I requested room 331 or room 332 end up in room 330,second hand smoke came in our room every 15 min.in no smoking area,we used a bucket to shower.
Review 51:the bed was clean.
Review 52:The exterior was pretty dirty, all the walkways and stairs were grungy and needed a good cleaning. I wasn't sure if all the people hanging around were actually staying there, but there was a security guard to keep track of that. Freeway noise outside, but fine inside.
Review 53:We just needed a place to sleep while visiting relatives in Chula Vista for the holidays, so it worked fine. I wish I'd had time to try out the pool because I love to swim. The rooms was large and comfy.
Review 54:The area was bad. There were times I didn't feel safe leaving my hotel room. The electronic door key also had issues working.
Review 55:Good central location for visiting wildlife sanctuaries near Tijuana with inexpensive rates.
Review 56:when checking in the manager pulled my drivers license and debit card away from me as though i couldnt retrieve it back from him beause i was explaining my name on my reservation didnt matter as long as my drivers license and card matched.im ok with someone keeping my personal things and pulling back when i reach for it. the carpet on the floors were filthy, people hanging out in the parking lot, looked like they were waiting for their drug dealer.my room was a non smoking but when i walked in it reeked of cigarette smoke, the room also felt musty like someone has just used the shower. i reserved the room atleast a week ahead of time but couldnt check in until 6pm. i should be able to have the room available and check in well before the evening.
Review 57:the price was good.
Review 58:TV old tube with just a few channels. WIFI extra didn't use. Some people who looked like they live there weekly and sit outside their rooms on stair landing. Didn't feel uncomfortable, probably just those who can't afford San Diego high rents and live in motel.
Review 59:Size of room good, bed fine, bath not bad, good tub. Staff very nice, very patient with customers mostly the economy minded traveler. Quiet inside. Booking gets you better rates for online booking compared to drop in guests. They had my reservation ready when I arrived.
Review 60:The staff were RUDE & unprofessional. I had complained on a guest that had 2 kids that kept running around screaming past my window and staff told me that the more they didn't hear from guest the better
Review 61:The bed was comfortable!!!!
Review 62:First off, upon entering the room, we were hit with a cloud of funk that all the Febreeze in the world couldn't have covered up. Being that we had just driven 5 hours, it was 10pm and we had children with us, we were willing to overlook that cloud of funk. Turning down the covers, we found human hair???...or fur of some sort between the sheets. Again, trying to make the best of a bad situation, we slept on top of the blankets, rather than taking a chance on the bedding. Going into the bathroom, we were greeted by your friendly neighborhood welcoming committee, the cockroach in our shower, he must have been there to warn us about the blood/fluid splatter that was on the wall, behind the bathroom door, floor and baseboards....still, we tried to have a smile on our face while cringing inside. Although we knew we were near a highway, we didn't expect to hear it ALL NIGHT LONG...lucky for us, a car alarm went off at 4am...4:30am...and 5am...which helped to drown out the noise from the traffic our 3rd floor room was overlooking...such a view it was....and not one we will be visiting again.
Review 63:That checking out was easy.
Review 64:I found no faults with EZ8 South Bay.
Review 65:Quiet at nite, well staffed. Pool and surrounding area always spotless. Several stores and restaraunts within walking distance
Review 66:My room had roaches in the fridge/bed/tv and the man in the office was very rude and told me that he didn't care and could not refund me for that room! I right away cancelled my 2nd night! Please look somewhere else
Review 67:I did not like the mattress in one of the bottom rooms so, i request it a different room and they moved me to a new room right away.
Review 68:I like the location, the pool, and friendly front desk people.
Review 69:Was hard to find if one did not know the area at all would be hard to locate. Directions were not very good. and the map needs inprovement. Room was hot when we arrived, eventhough they knew we were in town, the airconditioner was not on either room, the fridges were not plugged in.
Review 70:The staff, was very nice and helpful, Rooms were clean and neat. area was well lit
Review 71:Garbage in the parking lot, really really really small parking spaces, family had to get off the car, then I squeezed out of the sliding door, nik in my car from other car door. Non smoking room smelled like it was smoked in, the AC was loud, the showers were falling apart. Patches in the bath tub, on the wall, TV was small, like 17 inches old school tube style. swimming pool faces the road and some apartments, liqueur store next to the hotel, it looked like it was built in an industrial park.
Review 72:I liked the fact that we got the room for only one night.
Review 73:No real complaints. The old adage of "you get what you pay for" applies here. This property has been there a long time and this part of town doesn't offer much. We were in SD during Comicon Int. and pickings were slim.
Review 74:The room was clean but ready for the makeover. The staff was helpful and friendly. The pool looked inviting but we didn't have the time.
Review 75:having to move the refrigerator to get to the cord to plug it in. when going too answer the knock on the door, staff opened it before I reached it. when I brought it up when checking out I was told they had so many units to do.
Review 76:the price and the amenities
Review 77:Did not appreciate having to pay for the 3 nights on the first nightwith no option to opt out of the other 2 days. So no I wouldn't notever stay here again or reccomend this place to anyone not even my dog
Review 78:There wasn't even a tiny coffee maker for starters; of course no micowave either. But the whole place is bad regardless. Everything is falling apart and bent or sagging; deep dirt and grime every inch, inside room and whole property; ratty and rickety all around, and just disgusting. The parking is really bad too! The spaces are painted way smaller than standard, so no one can fit very well, and so half the people are over the line making the next space unusable. (Frustrating night after night to come back to.) Lastly, the people there are all shadey and questionaable. All hours people were lurking/coming/going that you needed to avoid.
Review 79:That there was a fridge.
Review 80:- very noisy - rooms not made - delayed suitecases send back, also the hotel was informed on the arrival - manager did not feel responsible. Delta, which sent the suitcases, had not seen such a Hotel.
Review 81:- Room smells - No complementary coffee in room, Wi-Fi, or breakfast - TV is broken
Review 82:- Price - Not worst place ever
