Reviews for Hunter Hideaway Cottages
Review 1:That 2 nights wasn't long enough.
Review 2:We love the cabins being privately tucked away from others and surrounded by beautiful kangaroos. Has everything you need for a country getaway.
Review 3:In the peak of summer it would be nice to have a pool. But with the good air con in the cabin, you can survive.
Review 4:Paul was very friendly and helpful. Super cute little cottages in a beautiful bust setting. Clean and tidy with comfortable beds. Good value if you're out all day on a wine tour or at a concert. If you are there for a concert, Rover Coaches pick you up and drop you off that gate.
Review 5:We had a seperate cabin which was away from the others. All our basic needs were provided especially a ful size refrigerator. Paul, the owner, was very helpful and polite.
Review 6:There is a bit of noise from the new motorway which detracted from the tranquil surroundings. The front door does not lock securely particularly when in the unit (when closing up for the night.)
Review 7:Close to vinyards of Lovedale and Rothbury area. Bush setting.
Review 8:It was all amazing.
Review 9:Waking up to the excitement of my children seeing kangaroos just outside the door. The closeness to the wineries but also the remoteness and being able to see so many stars. The owner was very friendly and made us feel very welcome.
Review 10:The hot water didn't work on arrival Friday and the 15 yr old water heater took two handyman visits to get going on the Saturday leaving us attending our event unshowered from the long day at work and travelling Friday. We weren't required to pay up front (though willing), and every time I asked how to pay the owner said 'tell you tomorrow' right up to the final day. He rang multiple times - on Mother's Day to move us to accomodate a group that wanted to stay longer, then phoned at early hours of the morning after arrival to get the money, and also rushed us to get there on the Friday night with more phone calls - despite having emailed the instructions for arrival previously. Some might find the drip feed info friendly, but all in all I felt harassed and hassled by the multiple contact - not the relaxing weekend I had hoped for with all in order. A discount was (rightly) given. Lovely spot but cabins need some maintenance and a bit of a clean up. For a budget option, one step up from camping/caravanning, those who are happy with the basics should be satisfied.
Review 11:This was a good basic cottage for a family or some couples travelling together. The kitchen was clean and cooking utensils/BBQ sufficient and in good order. The heating was comfortable and gas faux log fire added ambience. Bed linen clean, towels a little worn but adequate.
Review 12:Get up early and your in with a chance of seeing the Kangaroos. Good location, it's basic but clean and I can't fault the place, it's a great getaway spot.
Review 13:A very short little bumpy uncovered road
Review 14:The nature surrounding was overwhelming, the bush, the Kangaroos and the wooden cabin are the real deal if you want to escape from the busy city. Less than 10min drive to the heart of the wineries, cafes and restaurants, then so easy to drive back even after a big night.
Review 15:We had a family who kept walking around our cabin to scare off the Kangaroos every morning. Apart from it being nice I think we would prefer something a little closer to the vineyards and tourist attractions.
Review 16:The cabin was nice and fitted with everything we needed! The fire place adds a lovely touch, and breakfast with the Kangaroos is a bonus!
Review 17:would be nice to have a outside fire but if thats all i got does it really matter
Review 18:peace and quiet bush owner good bloke there if you need anything but leaves you alone
Review 19:As we checked in so late at night the poor visibility in finding the cottage with no lights or visible signage.
Review 20:The cleanliness of the cottage as well as the great service including detailed directions and information received by Paul from the very beginning of our booking until the end after check out.
Review 21:It is very private. The perfect break for a couple of days if you just want to relax and ideal if you're travelling with pets and kids. I read some reviews stating that it was very basic. For a just hundred dollars a night we actually found it very comfortable as we weren't expecting things like a nice flat screen TV, and the cabin was quite spacious. It was a great break from the city, we'll definitely stay there again!
Review 22:The burrs in the grass that bury into the carpet. Wooden floors might be a better option.
Review 23:Very casual country style cottage to live with kangaroos and get closer to nature. Located near excellent wineries.
Review 24:dirt road access cabins were a bit tired stove very old. it did not work very well
Review 25:good location, 10 minutes from main centre quiet location renovated bathroom
Review 26:nothing
Review 27:the directions given by the owners was very accurate. we were met on time as promised. Awoke in the morning to a large mob of kangaroos surrounding the cabin and a willy wagtail building a nest in a bush near to the cabin. The nights were very quite. All in all it was a very relaxing stay.
Review 28:cabins look a little tried n need a little TLC, flyscreens mended, and locks etc.
Review 29:Location, peaceful, clean cabin at one with nature.
Review 30:Would have been nice to have been of walking distance to shops or resturant

Review 34:Poor heating facilities. Bedroom very cold. No electric blankets. No extra blankets. Hrater on 1 hour timer.
Review 35:Location
Review 36:Quiet and secluded environment but still conveniently close to all the great activities in the Hunter Valley.
Review 37:Outward appearance of the cottage - but inside was fine.
Review 38:The solitude and the kangaroos.
Review 39:Peace and tranquillity....
Review 40:A few insects and things in the kitchen. An exterminator is needed and a good idea
Review 41:Cosy cabin that is hidden from the world.
Review 42:A few more conveniences in the cottage are needed eg blankets bath mats the odd mirror etc
Review 43:Location location location !!
Review 44:Loved the location away from it all. Clean and comfortable.
Review 45:We had to leave too soon.
Review 46:Nice, clean cottage, no noisy neighbours.
Review 47:We felt it was not as clean as it should have been, dusty and with mould on the windows.overpriced for the general standard you would expect for that price.IE:all rather run down
Review 48:Quiet and very private as the cabins were well away from the each other in the paddock. the location was good, quite close to some of the Hunter attractions.the bed was very comfortable.kitchen adequate.
Review 49:Being a little fussy, picky but honest at the same time for me the water pressure could be better but the the fact it's on a rural property, and cabins its understandable I have stayed here twice, and will be back.
Review 50:Great property, value and operators very flexible and accommodating, great if you like privacy.these are cabins and not a five star hotel if you understand this you will not be disappointed with your stay.
Review 51:Bit of a mouse smell when closed up and could here them fighting in thewalls on occasions
Review 52:Everything was good, cabins are very clean, nice and quiet.
Review 53:Location(as advertised you can see Kangaroo hopping around) Friendly Staff(Paul was fantastic and very friendly) We had a nice time it is bit further from wineries and shops(that's what we were looking for) You have to carry drinking water if you can't stand rain water as facility doesn't have town water
Review 54:1. Time to update the barbecue! 2. Supply paper towel rolls for the BBQ. A box of tissues would be a nice touch. 3. The pillows are due for a clean, and because they're very thin, maybe throw in a few spares.
Review 55:1. As long as you have a car, it's not too far from anywhere. 2. Its very private - we were out playing cricket in our pyjamas every morning. 3. Lots of kangaroos, and clear night skies. 4. Good sized bedrooms, and all the basic facilities you need for budget accommodation. 5. The serenity!
Review 56:(Not in any particular order) 1) The privacy 2) The convenient location 3) Friendly hotel manager 4) Fantastic facilities - everything you could need provided
Review 57:It was a lovely secluded venue providing privacy and beautiful wildlife at the door. It is well appointed and fits into a comfortable getaway from the crowds.
Review 58:Nothing. This place is a great stay at any price.
Review 59:Everything, but mostly cooking out in the evening while watching the kangaroos.
Review 60:Paul has been most accommodating with our particular needs. Pet friendliness. Secluded and restful surroundings.
Review 61:it is very cool that we saw a group of kangaroos on the back of the house.
Review 62:Smells like mice piss.

Review 66:Quietness and bush
Review 67:Too far away from the wineries.
Review 68:It's very quiet & away from crowd. We managed to see some wild kangaroos during dusk.
