Reviews for Casa da Azenha

Review 1:This was an absolutely gorgeous place to stay! The property was historic and run by the most welcoming hosts whose family history dates back centuries in this magical and romantic setting. Around each corner there was either a beautiful view of the rolling, vine-covered hills or lush gardens with tucked away corners to read a book or take in the scenery. The property included a nice pool and very cozy rooms. Ours opened up to a vine-covered trellis which lead out to the gardens. The daily breakfast was not only delicious but also freshly made with produce from their own gardens and fruit trees. Eating with the other guests outside in the courtyard was a lovely way to share plans for the day as we all discussed which vineyards in the nearby towns we were planning to visit. We had rented a car and easily parked within the gated walls of the property and were able to drive to the nearby vineyards all within a 30 minute drive. We absolutely loved our stay at Casa da Azenha and will always remember the kind welcome we received here! Thank you for making it so special!

Review 2:: we loved the place The appartment we styed in. The welcoming host and hostess. The generosity. The fantastic breakfast. The landscape in the property and out

Review 3:This was the perfect spot for us to rest after 5 weeks travelling in Europe before flying back home to Australia. Our only complaint is we wish we had longer as there was so much to do and see. We will have to go back!!

Review 4:The location and property gorgeous and Manuel the owner was charming and helpful. The morning breakfast delicious and the staff super nice and accommodating.

Review 5:The owners and staff at Casa da Azenha , were delightful and charming. The location was quiet and peaceful with beautiful gardens, relaxing by the pool was just bliss. The breakfasts were exceptional and served on our balcony each morning. We would not hesitate to stay there again.

Review 6:Great location, close to everything but away from the noise and crowds. Nice and friendly staff, owner welcome's you and helps with checkin. Small place, with just few rooms, perfect for people who like to skip large packed hotels. Go for the suite, more privacy.

Review 7:The bed was a little hard and the wifi could be better.

Review 8:Very courteous and friendly staff. The owners were great and helpful with finding us things to do in the vicinity. We felt very welcome. The area had a very nice atmosphere

Review 9:We really enjoyed the location and the beautiful garden, fresh fruit from the tree for breakfast and the relaxed atmosphere. The staff and the owners were very friendly and accommodating.

Review 10:If you're looking for a charming and relaxed home base in Duoro, look no further. The location is very convenient for touring, just a short drive from town, so you're close to a lot but get to relax in a quiet pastoral space. The owner is very helpful in giving suggestions on where to go for great wine and food. We followed his "program" and it gave a great overview of the area. The property is beautiful, with lovely grounds, a nice pool, and is full of charm. And the owners couldn't be more helpful. We were two friends staying in the apartment, but the property is very family friendly. We'd stay again in a minute.

Review 11:Beautiful old home situated near a vineyard with gracious hosts. Wonderful garden with all types of flowering plants and a very nice swimming pool. Well maintained property. Dedicated staff and an outstanding breakfast served personally to each guest. Highly recommended.

Review 12:just good experiences

Review 13:excellent service, excellent breakfast with fresh squized orange juice daily served, super friendly housekeepers, beautiful place, very nice pool

Review 14:The bed was really not comfortable, especially if you have back pain. You could hear the neighbours in the morning having the breakfast and that is waking you up. No A/C and the Wifi was not working in our apartment.

Review 15:The staff and the owner were really really nice and helpful. Great tip for restaurants! The garden was beautiful and the pool was fantastic after a hot day. Very calm environment.

Review 16:As soon as the gate opened to the Casa, we felt welcome. The family were very helpfull and interesting, and made their home very accesible to us. The facilities and service were excellent, and little touches such as Breakfast delivered to your terrace were so nice and appreciated.

Review 17:That we had to leave.

Review 18:The caretakers are extraordinary people dedicated to your satisfaction. I am at a loss to adequately describe the quiet beauty and serenity of this place. The gardens are beautiful and well maintained. The rooms are quiet, comfortable and the bathroom facilities updated and convenient. Once you enter the gates be prepared for a carefree relaxing experience. To sum up, after check in we relaxed at the pool and observed the caretakers gathering up the eggs and picking the oranges for tomorrows breakfast.

Review 19:The wifi was not completely consistent in our room, but it usually worked fine out on the porch or closer to the main house.

Review 20:The owners were lovely and clearly take a lot of care in maintaining their beautiful gardens and vineyards. It was great to have a glass of (excellent) port with Manuel while chatting about his family and the property prior to dinner. They were extremely helpful with booking a wine tasting tour and getting us a cab to dinner. We stayed in a two bedroom suite which had old-world charm that blended with the surroundings. Breakfast with fresh squeezed juice from the orange trees on the property was very good. The bottle of wine that was provided upon arrival was an added bonus.
