Reviews for Hotel Piran
Review 1:Great place ! Beautiful location and amazing views of the city and the sea. Very courteous staff. Very good breakfast. The pet-friendly. The hotel is located in a restricted-traffic area and requires leaving the car in the garage on the border of the city. But hotel really helps with this. You can drive free of charge for an hour by car directly at the hotel. You need to take the paid zone ticket (ticket for 3 Euro), which after the departure from the zone is for hotel guests canceled. Car parking for hotel guests is free of charge. The hotel also offers a lift to the parking area (about 1 km). Hotel located in the immediate vicinity of the old town, numerous restaurants and the shore of the sea (10 m)
Review 2:The room was small, i think they gave us the wrong one - we stayed in the comfort room, but we payed for the superior one. The beds were uncomfortable, the restaurant was already closed at half past 8 in the evening. I didn't like the whole parking in a garage 1km away thing, they should have their own parking by the hotel. Also, the dining room is way too small, we had to wait for a table every morning. In winter there is not much you can do at the hotel - they have no pool or entertainment area.
Review 3:The location is excellent, nice staff, great food, great view from the balcony, everyhing is nice and clean.
Review 4:This is not a four star property as claimed. It is nice enough but pricey for a two or three star establishment. Staff was very pleasant though.
Review 5:Location is fantastic!
Review 6:Hot water in the shower was only warm. A little more detailed driving directions with info on short term (1 hour) access would be helpfull.
Review 7:Rooms on the sea side have a great view. Only a few feet from the shore. Very friendly staff. A very good included breakfast.
Review 8:Not all light switches were working properly, plus on the first evening, there wasn't really hot water in the shower.
Review 9:I really liked the location and the staff. They were really polite in the provide very good service. They are really good at foreign languages.
Review 10:I would have appreciated a softer pillow
Review 11:Excellent location, friendliest staff, helpful, professional and child friendly, very good breakfast, serene view (sea view room), very quiet and very clean. Loved the little details like chalk on board messages, champaigne bike etc.
Review 12:The pillows were very flat, not comfortable whatsoever.
Review 13:Great location. The breakfast was fine. More than I would normally spend on a room, but I got a balcony room, and the view of the ocean made it worth it.
Review 14:Perfect location with amazing view, delicious and varied breakfast, friendly staff, a note from the hotel with congratulations on our wedding. We really appreciated that the staff made us possible to park our car in front of the hotel as we arrived in the middle of the night - this was a perfect wedding gift :)
Review 15:Dirty carpet, tv wires freely out of wall hanging on desk.tile in bathroom coming out. Noisy hallwalls. King size bed two twins put together with one higher then other. You get what you pay for so avoid double room street side and get ocean front
Review 16:Staff was very helpful and nice. Location was great. Breakfast was good.
Review 17:It was one of my favourite hotel till today. But the new staff is really disapponting. They did not care with my requests. The wifi simply did not work. Mentioned 3 times. My room eas not cleaned 2 times. Mini bar was not filled. Etc.
Review 18:We didn't like the fact that we had booked a superior room only to be told that they only had standard rooms. If you book superior your expectations are higher so we were disappointed that the room was very small and basic.
Review 19:Staff on the front desk were very friendly
Review 20:Remote parking, but that's the price you pay for a hotel in the old town Breakfast room was over-crowded on our visit
Review 21:Great central location Excellent staff Comfortable sea-view room with fine view from the balcony
Review 22:A very good hotel in a great location overlooking the water. Easy walk to all of Piran's sights and restaurants. The hotel café / bar on the water's edge was terrific.
Review 23:Organization of the parking is little uncomfortable. Travelling with kids makes it difficult, especially if you leave some stuff in the car and you have to reach it by waiting for a car which would take you there and back :( Also the parking is not included in the price which for 4* hotel i would expect.
Review 24:Very nice location, view to the sea :)
Review 25:Did not like our room, on main floor nd could not see see from terrace as wall too high. The staff in the bar area and restaurant were not friendly! Beds not comfortable.
Review 26:Beautiful view from the rooftop bar, loved the front desk staff.
Review 27:Very helpful concierge / front desk that helped us book our onward journey to Venice. Followed up and made all arrangements while we enjoyed the town.
Review 28:The biggest issue is the price. This hotel is simply very overpriced. The comfort and poor quality of sleep does not come close to justifying the price paid for the location. The bed and sun lounger were very hard and uncomfortable. The air conditioning was ineffective. There was a lack of power outlets in my room, and on one occasion, the chambermaid only gave me fresh towels, did not get rid of any rubbish or make the bed. Also, perhaps the most unfortunate downside is the fact that the hotel cannot, by law, prevent people from smoking on the balcony despite all the rooms themselves being non-smoking. In my opinion this defeats the whole point and the smell often forced me back inside my room while trying to relax. I wanted to check out the sun terrace but for some bizarre reason I was told it was only open in the evening, and the door to it was still locked at that time. I would only stay at this hotel again if they got softer mattresses and cut their room prices by at least 40%. A standard rate of 130 Euro per night for a sea view single room here is beyond ridiculous. I paid 101 Euro per night for it and still feel I got a bad deal. Should be closer to 60 Euro. After breakfast, I avoided the hotel's restaurant. I don't know why you would pay top whack for drinks and food there, when there's a Mercator convenience store and plenty of reasonably priced restaurants a stone's throw away. I got a 15% discount after complaining to Booking.com about the terrible value for money and other issues.
Review 29:The sea view is breathtaking. The Aromatherapy Steam Room is a wonderful experience, for 9 Euros it is an absolute must, but you can get massages much cheaper in Portoroz. The town is lovely and relaxed. The hotel is spotlessly clean and very nicely decorated. Wi-Fi was good, although it couldn't handle a Skype call on the balcony, and having to re-connect once every hour was a minor annoyance. Breakfast was fine, but not the tastiest I've ever had. The staff were welcoming and gracious. Hotel Piran is clean, beautiful and well-run and I really hope they can work on their aforementioned problems, but I can't recommend them until they do.
Review 30:Two separate beds instead of a double bed, breakfast was not good, lots of noise from the street (if you have a room at streetside).
Review 31:Perfect location at the sea, staff was very kind and helpful.
Review 32:We had an attic room, and the fan in the bathroom didn't work - that and a lack of room height and hooks meant I felt there was nowhere to get towels or costumes dry. Fresh fish dinner was gorgeous and served with panache, but reasonably pricey. But generally the restaurant was great - overall we loved Hotel Piran and plan to return.
Review 33:We loved this hotel, and will go back. The location couldn't be better, right on the sea; I swam every day. Easy to stroll around the old town square, shops, galleries, church and old church wall. Friendly staff and excellent food.
Review 34:The wifi isn't the best - kicks you off periodically
Review 35:Fantastic location right one the beach, beautiful rooftop terrace for seeing the sunset, and the restaurant had quite a nice dinner and a very good breakfast
Review 36:Just a note that you drive in to the area of the hotel, and then you drive out and they shuttle you to and from the airport. Not an issue, just a good thing to know.
Review 37:The location in amazing, the staff incredibly friendly, and the breakfast buffet was one of the best I've ever had. The rooftop deck was incredible and I watched many a beautiful sunset (even if the cost of the drinks is twice as much as down stairs).
Review 38:Only 1 bedroom in Executive Suite with Balcony (not my expectation). 1 sofa bed and 1 single bed are in dining room. No aircon in the bedroom. need to share with the aircon in dining room.
Review 39:Good sea view in bedroom and balcony, breakfast - a lot of choices, staff are very friendly
Review 40:Pillows could be softer.
Review 41:Location excellent. Parking visitor cars within the town is not allowed however the hotel very efficiently picks up guests from the public parking garage and brings them directly to the hotel free of charge. Same ride is offered when you are ready to depart. The staff were universally friendly. Nicely done, Hotel Piran.
Review 42:Hopeless wifi and ineffective aircon. Not acceptable for a hotel like this.
Review 43:Location is perfect, staff are friendly and helpful, parking is made easy for you.
Review 44:Unfortunately we did not get a room with a view of the sea. Instead our room faced the street, which was noisy. The air conditioning in our room was broken, so we had to keep the windows open. The wifi required a lot of refreshing.
Review 45:The hotel has a perfect location, with a lovely view of the sea. The hotel provides a row of beach chairs along the water (tip: these need to be reserved for a fee the day before as they are much in demand). There is a nice terrace restaurant facing the sea, good swimming and a wonderful relaxed atmosphere. The hotel staff was friendly and very helpful in facilitating parking, providing a shuttle to the garage outside the pedestrian zone, and a permit for dropping off luggage right at the hotel when you arrive.
Review 46:Wifi was not working in the room only on the lobby. Bar nearby with music until late night may be disturbing but it should not deter you from staying there.
Review 47:Very kind and helpful staff, nice view from the seaside, city with good atmosphere, good location: 5 m to the sea, 50 m to restaurants. Shop and market nearby. Rooms and the hotel are completely and nicely redecorated. Substantial breakfast right at the beach. Limited number of beds and umbrellas are available for 5eur/day on the beach.
Review 48:We ate dinner in the restaurant downstairs and the food was inedible, really bad (and overpriced). The waiters were also very unpleasant. The rooftop lounge whoch we had hoped to visit was closed diring our entire stay.
Review 49:Location. Gorgeous.
Review 50:Had to keep logging into wifi and no gym space.
Review 51:Very friendly and helpful staff, free shuttle to car park, great location, beautiful sea views. Book a sea view room! Free watermelon and waiter bar service while sunbathing, fun and funky rooftop bar in evening.
Review 52:Wifi was extremely poor. For the kind of hotel it was and for the kind of room tariffs, one offcourse expects better internet connectivity. Also, the door to the balcony jot jammed once, but that was quickly fixed.
Review 53:The location was fantastic. I had a room facing the sea and the view was amazing. The room was clean. The breakfast was also very good and had many things to choose from.
Review 54:Airconditioning could have been better.
Review 55:Position excellent, breakfast was everything you would want. Other facilities excellent. Staff very helpful and pleasant.
Review 56:No a bad comment as such just an observation. I booked a large double bed which turned out to be two singles side by side. Would have been ok but they kept moving apart, other than that it was very comfortable.
Review 57:The hotel is located in a fantastic spot with superb views from the rooftop terrace. All the staff from our driver (to/from the parking garage) who was extremely polite and knowledgable to the reception staff for whom nothing too much trouble. The breakfast which we took in our room was fresh and tasty with excellent coffee.
Review 58:Bed and pillows too hard for my comfort. Also juice for breakfast watered down an awful lot. Very basic rooms for the price.
Review 59:Location was great. Front of house also exceptional. Great free shuttle service to car park.
Review 60:Requested an upper story room. Given a ground floor one. Noise from bar next door kept awake until 2 30 a.m. Asked to move told no other room available. Sunbeds out front can be booked the night before . Nobody tells you this at check in so on the first day you show up there are none available and you have to perch on the wall. On the ground floor rooms you will have people leaning against your balcony wall all day so close you can lean over and pick the fluff out of their belly buttons. Not conducive to privacy. All in all I got the feeling its just another seaside hotels trying to rake in as much cash as possible during a short season.
Review 61:Nice hotel with good breakfast service and restaurant located right on the sea front which is and advantage or not depending on your point of view
Review 62:Room didn't have view; a bit small and dark (we didn't pay for oceanfront).. recommend to pay for oceanfront room. however beds were comfortable enough and we were just there to sleep.
Review 63:Best thing about this hotel is the location. Restaurant has an outside patio looking over the water. Best restaurant in area and no need to line up. Just eat every meal there. Lobby is beautiful with view of water as soon as you enter. Service excellent.
Review 64:To pay 20 cents for a coffee to take away in the morning, especially when they did tell you the day before my departure that I could have breakfast prepared. Poor staff. I do believe that if you can stay overnight in Croatia, please do it. Piran is beautiful and this hotel is very well located but because of that they are unfriendly and not worth the place. Internet wasn't working well and the furniture is old.
Review 65:The view from the balcony
Review 66:Wifi cuts out every 5 min and you have to log back in: only blemish on an otherwise perfect experience. Also we parked in the wrong place so it was expensive: park in Fornace lot.
Review 67:Fantastic location, service, balcony, rooms. Loved the restaurant downstairs as well, so much so that we violated our own rules and had 4 meals there. Walk to several beaches, or walk out the door and jump off the pier.
Review 68:Extremly poor airconditioning. And it was in only one of two sleepingrooms. That was not what we were paying for. Staff tried to solve it, but far too little, too late.
Review 69:Kind, professional staff. Nice place.
Review 70:Given that the hotel is not cheap, thought charging 5 euros per day for a sun bed was a tad mean. By the way, don't bother to go over the headland to Portoroz unless you are into bling and rip-offs plus hundreds of sun beds arranged in neat lines. We went on the bus, spent 15 mins. there and then caught the bus back to Piran.
Review 71:Superb hotel in a very beautiful town
Review 72:The room we were in did not have any fresh air ventilation so we opened the window. However, the non-sea facing rooms (such as the one we had) look out over a rather noisy parking lot, making it just slightly unpleasant.
Review 73:Fantastic location, very friendly staff. At no point did we feel neglected.
Review 74:parking couple of km from hotel, but hotel provides free shuttle to the garage and offer special rate for the parking. Driving to the city costs something, but hotel covered also that one.
Review 75:The terrace of the restaurant (open all day from breakfast time) was a superb location for people watching. And the hotel has a very efficient method of handling the fact that one needs to park out of town.
Review 76:Even though we were on the 4th floor it was rather noisy from outside.
Review 77:Great location and excellent views especially from the roof top terrace. Very friendly and helpful staff.
Review 78:The hotel is overpriced, it does not meet the overall quality/service of a common 3*** austrian or german hotel.
Review 79:The position is top, the view is wonderful.
Review 80:Bed was quite uncomfortable as it was two single beds pushed together. Rooftop bar was overpriced compared to other bar in hotel.
Review 81:Great location. Friendly staff. Good food. Igor was very helpful :-)
Review 82:Beach is somewhat overcrowded, extra payment for the use of beach umbrella and sunchairs (and it occurs that no more reservations are possible). Too many pigeons on the terrasse.
Review 83:The best place to stay in Piran, beautiful sea-view.
Review 84:Airco was unable to cope with the high temperature. Small rooms. Beach facilities were poor. Concrete, rocky, no shade. Had to pay for beds and umbrella.
Review 85:Staff was very friendly and service minded. Location.
Review 86:Well overpriced for what you get. The hotel is clearly quite old and refurbishment was poorly done. We stayed in the executive suite with balcony. Air conditioning was a joke. It was very old technology and was barely able to cool itself let alone the suite which is practically 2 rooms. The beach is not very nice and you have to book sun beds in advance and pay for them. Breakfast was average. Almost all TV channels were blurry. Wifi was very slow.
Review 87:Transfer to/from the parking was smooth. Location is good. Staff was helpful and friendly.
Review 88:If you do not have enough sun loungers on a busy weekend - you should advertise in the hotel, that it would be beneficial to reserve chairs ahead of time!
Review 89:Fabuous placement. Service minded personnel. Clean areas, good restaurant.
Review 90:During check-in we were recomended to have dinner at the hotel restaurant. When we decided to go there and eat, we sat down at one of approx. 10 empty tables and after having to wait for 15 minutes we were told that they have a small kitchen and we couldnt have anything to eat. Also the room was very small, toiletries were not replenished daily unless asked for, definately not a 4* hotel !
Review 91:Great location in a charming town.
Review 92:- single bed too small!!! - beach loungers and umbrellas are charged
Review 93:Perfectly placed close to the ocean with a nice roof top bar - perfect sun set guaranteered - best location in Piran. Nice staff, quick orders and good breakfast. Go out of the room and dive into the Mediteranian sea or enjoy superb seafood.
Review 94:Wifi not very good and you need to login every time your device goes off.
Review 95:Must have a pre dinner drink on rooftop bar! lovely fresh food, helpful and friendly staff, great value for money. Should have paid more for the seaview! Had a lovely massage too.
Review 96:I had no bad experience.
Review 97:Magnificent top floor views out to the Adriatic. Comfortable and clean, wonderful breakfast and lovely evening dinner in the restaurant. I would happily recommend Hotel Piran.
Review 98:For young people I woul recomend city Portorož, city Piran is very quiete and there is not nice beach. Only concrete beach.
Review 99:great location, very kind and helpfull personal, great tip is to borrow bicycle for 5EUR for 4 hours and have tour around near villages :)
Review 100:Rooms are pretty basic. Everything. You want is there but the shower is only fair, toiletries minimal-there is no fuss made.
Review 101:Location, food, friendly staff.
Review 102:The view and the staff professionalism & friendliness (all the way from the reception staff to the cubana boy) were incomparable. Breakfast was fabulous and use of the hotel's seaside amenities was really a joy. I won't forget my stay at Hotel Piran anytime soon
Review 103:Breakfast was very busy and things ran out. Lift too small and slow for the size of the hotel.
Review 104:A popular hotel choice in Piran. Sitting over the sea with beautiful views of the port. Very efficient and professional staff. Excellent minibus service to the car park on the edge of town.
Review 105:Half the window to the room would not open, the other half would not stay open without banging against the wall outside in the wind. Could not sleep because of no AC and loud noises outside.
Review 106:Hotel staff were friendly, bar was great and breakfast was nice.
Review 107:we booked an "executive suite" with " two bedrooms" for our group of 4 adult family members. what we got one was a suite with one bedroom and a pulldown settee in what was a living room. complaint was useless.
Review 108:picturesque town. proximity to waterfront. hotel was clean. interior style was contemporary and pleasing, tho from the outside the building is rather a mish-mash of mess.
Review 109:Did not have seaview room, the top roof only open from 7pm to 11pm. the address in the website show the car park not the hotel, very confuse for finding a carpark or hotel.
Review 110:Nice breakfast with view, the parking service was good, the hotel staff direct us to the carpark and drive us back to hotel, free wifi.
Review 111:The use of the steam room should be included in the price of the (already expensive) room. Roof bar was a touch pretentious and had zero atmosphere.
Review 112:Great breakfast. Great steam room.
Review 113:The only thing that disappointed us was that the roof terrace, used on much of the advertising, was only available to 'premium' guests so we were unable to access it.
Review 114:The staff were very friendly and helpful. We were upgraded from a city view to a sea view room which was a lovely surprise. We hired bikes from the hotel for a reasonable price, which was very convenient.
Review 115:(I stayed in town view room.) The room itself was normal. It would be better to stay sea view room.
Review 116:Location( the very center, in front of sea), helpful staff, breakfast with sea view.
Review 117:Room was fine except the toilet is located in a separate room from the shower and sink. The shower has a small drop down shower pan that fills up with water when showing. Didn't drain so spent 20 minutes using a glass from the sink to empty the shower pan out so another person could use the shower. Very odd shower to be sure. Piran itself was a huge disappointment! VERY touristy, different from the rest of the country. Had I known it was going to be like this I would have skipped it. Made a special trip there to see it, wished I hadn't. The hospitality in Piran is seriously lacking in the restaurants and hotels.
Review 118:The hotel is perfectly situated in the center of Piran on the water. Dining room very nice. Beds nice. Can rent a scooter from the front desk for 25euros.
Review 119:Couldn't see any temp control in the room, was a bit too warm and the window banged if left open
Review 120:Breakfast was outstanding. Staff were friendly and helpful. Loved Piran overall
Review 121:The parking system was a hassle. It's mandatory to park the car outside the city centre. I wished the hotel could offer valet service in future. The rooms were not air conditioned so it could be warm in the day during summer.
Review 122:The seafront room we had at the top floor was with beautiful sight during sunset, it was comfortable With safe box, mini bar in fridge, flat tv, many good restaurants along the beach front. Breakfast spread was good and the staff were truly helpful and friendly. Overall we had a wonderful time here!
Review 123:my only complaint is that we had to leave :(
Review 124:Location of Hotel Piran is 10 our of 10, the rooms and balconies are spacious and clean and the views could not be better.
Review 125:You have to put up with a bus journey to the car parks. I imagine the whole place will be crowded in high season.
Review 126:Great location right on the waterfront and yard from some great restaurants. We had a suite up on the 4th floor which was great with separate room for DD and balcony. Great Breakfast / coffee bar.
Review 127:Great view of the Adriatic, roomy and comfortable accommodations, wonderful shower with rain showerhead and separate from the toilet closet, wide variety of healthy and delicious offerings for breakfast, and fantastically helpful staff.
Review 128:The hotel is probably one of the best in Piran. The only minus was the bed (mattresses), not comfortable.
Review 129:The location & premises are perfect! The staff is exceptionally helpful and the hotel has an excellent shuttle service between the hotel and city's parking garage (parking in Piran is not possible). Go for the sea view.
Review 130:When I booked I didn't get the information on which side of the hotel my room was. I had to pay 10 eur extra upon arrival to get the sea side.
Review 131:Breakfast is great, everything from sweet to salty to healthy. "Real" coffee is made for each guest according to his/her wishes. The hotel provides for a transfer to the parking space outside the town (5 min). The location is spectacular.
Review 132:cleanliness of the schower, size of the room
Review 133:we had seaview, hotel is located near the center and the restaurants, serves a good breakfast, piran is a lovely place
Review 134:The location is the best in town. Right on the water and close to restaurants and cafes and bars. The staff are friendly especially the guys in the restaurant. We had a great stay.
Review 135:Nothing
Review 136:The seaview from the hotel was perfect. Excellent breakfast. Very nice town for walking and exploring. Harris at the front desk was extremely helpful.
Review 137:Parking place is a long way from the hotel. We were picked up by the hotel staff at the parking place, but had to go back by bus (free bus which takes 5').
Review 138:Staff is very friendly. Room was comfortable. Breakfast was good.
Review 139:Size of the room was tiny! No place to put luggage. Pillows were rock hard. Breakfast quality went down during weekend: the one server seemed a little overwhelmed keeping up with coffee orders.
Review 140:The breakfast was very good during the week: freshly made eggs, meats, cheeses, fruits, cereals, breads, etc. Good coffee. Ocean view is spectacular!
The Fine Print
Access by car:Please note that the historic core of Piran is a car-free zone. Parking is available in the Garage House Piran above the city.Nevertheless, you can still drive to the hotel for loading/unloading luggage. A free bus runs every 15 minutes from Fornace to the center of Piran.
