Reviews for Hotel Aveiro Palace

Review 1:For a hotel rated as 4 stars, it doesn't have a restaurant, and doesn't have a bar. The tv was far too small to be able to see properly from the bed.

Review 2:The location.

Review 3:The room was a touch on the small side but the view of the canal was great.

Review 4:Excellent location right in the centre of the town. Restaurants and bars in abundance.

Review 5:Superb front desk staff...friendly, helpful, and efficient! Entire facility was one of the best hotels we have stayed in during our 2 week vacation throughout Portugal! Thank you for having such a great staff to assist your guests.

Review 6:Very nice and very comfortable hotel in a perfect location. Good continental buffet. Very comfortable beds and we paid for a room with a lovely view of the river. Good wifi all over the hotel.

Review 7:the room in the back has no view at all. For a 4 stars they should not have unpact glasses in the bathroom. At breakfast some of the staff was picking up fruits out of the bowl!

Review 8:nicely situated, close to town center and the canals. Confortable bed.

Review 9:Minimal staff other than receptionist. Breakfast arrangement poor, cramped for space, no hot food offered. Bathroom products in short supply.

Review 10:Location very central and adjacent to canals and old town. Good interior, furnishings and decor. Comfortable and spacious lounge. Good parking arrangement and very helpful reception staff.

Review 11:Very little, maybe more vegetables and a boiled egg at breakfast would be good.

Review 12:Smooth and unproblematic services, polite, competent and helpful staff, good location in the town, rich choice of restaurants nearby, good accessibility of site-seeing and local travel, many fruits for breakfast, quick WiFi.

Review 13:Our room was small and looked out on to a concrete wall definitely worth the extra to have a room with a view.

Review 14:Great location, wonderful breakfast, comfortable lounge area.

Review 15:Generally very good. The only niggles were poor aircon and some outside noise - mainly, we think, due to students` start of term.

Review 16:Great location by the river. Buses to the local beaches nearby (just across the bridge and to the right). Brilliant choice of fresh fruit salads and cakes at breakfast.- request espresso if this is your thing. Shops, cafes & restaurants nearby. Go on the wood boat trips - touristy but good fun

Review 17:Everything was just fine!

Review 18:In this lovely hidden gem of a place, Aveiro, there is just NO PLACE as Central as the Aveiro Palace Hotel! Even so, you need to stay there to realise what being treated as a King is like! Jamie and Celso at the Front Desk go out of the way to make sure every need of yours is satisfied to the fullest, whether it be the location of a restaurant, bank, Money changer or whom so ever you seek!....all with a ready smile!! Our room on the third floor had a lovely Canal View as also a view of a quaint courtyard, next door. The room was comfortable, beds great , the shower top notch and the complimentary breakfast spread generous and briskly refilled, though lacking possibly some hot breakfast items. A coffee maker in the room would be another welcome addition. When we revisit Aveiro, we're clear we need to look no further than the Aveiro Palace.

Review 19:Location, right in the heart of Aveiro, 15 minutes walk from the railway station and 5 minutes from the fish market which has an excellent restuarant upstairs.

Review 20:The portugese 4* hotels we visited fit a plastic undersheet which makes a great matress uncomfortable, it would be good if the hotel stopped doing this, I did not think to ask them to remove it, perhaps they would have?

Review 21:Great Hotel in must see location, the view at night of the hotel from the opposite side of the canel is breathtaking!

Review 22:The breakfast could have been better. The coffee is terrible.

Review 23:The hotel is situated in the city center close to everything. It is clean and cozy, great value for its money.

Review 24:The room 301 was the worst I've ever stayed in . There are hotels in town with room theams ..I think the theam they tried to replicate here was Nelson Mandelas cell and they succeeded I even think the mattress was authentic .

Review 25:Staff and Location good cold buffet breakfast variety

Review 26:Basics missing from room like bidet tissues soaps etc. Breakfast was terrible. Coffee was not drinkable at all and cheese tasted like plastic.

Review 27:Location and staff at reception

Review 28:Everything is absolutely wonderful! If I had to give a complaint, I guess I wish there were eggs at breakfast.

Review 29:Everything! Location, prices, accommodations, staff is very pleasant and always there to assist. Loved it there!

Review 30:We loved everything about this hotel! From the staff at check-in, the period styles the hotel, it's central location, the breakfast and the price! Parking is across the street in an underground car park about 5 mins walk, but you can park directly outside the hotel, check-in and then park!

Review 31:Our room was a suite with a very nice view of the main canal and pleasant decor. The location is very good - then again, when staying in Aveiro I think staying in the very centre is the way to go, as it's so small. More of a really nice three-star hotel than a four-star hotel.

Review 32:Disappointed to find there was no bar or facilities for having a hot or cold drink - apart from a vending machine. Only Continental breakfast available and not much variety.

Review 33:The situation of the hotel couldn't be faulted overlooking the canal. A very grand looking building in keeping with its surroundings.

Review 34:First night no noise. Second night and morning sounded like an elephant was in the room above us. No parking under hotel. Had to park in a mall lot for 5 euros. Very difficult entrance from road.

Review 35:I liked stepping out onto the old part of town immediately from hotel. Service was great!!!

Review 36:Room on the inside courtyard was lacking a room with a view, and therefore very suffocating. The policy of letting clients into the room only after 2PM, even when the rooms are ready, we didn't find very client friendly. Breakfast was the worst we had in Portugal so far. Overall a very unpersonal hotel.

Review 37:The bathroom could have a bit cleaner ... the broom did not reach behind the door ...

Review 38:Very helpful staff; really pretty building. You cannot really find a better location, it is where you need to be.Breakfast was great; the fruit salad reminded me of my dad's ... Delicious! TV with 70+ channels, wifi everywhere.... I would definitely go back. Highly recommended.

Review 39:The hotel has only one lift which unfortunately broke down as we left, but everything else was fine.

Review 40:We booked the suites at each end of the building and found them spacious and comfortable. The location is excellent for exploring the nice town and close by restaurants and bars.

Review 41:Large stylishly decorated room; great location; parking for 5E a day a block away; quiet; excellent breakfast; lovely and helpful front desk personnel

Review 42:The breakfast was adequate, no hot food and the breakfast room itself was a little cramped.

Review 43:The location of the hotel was perfect for us, just by the canal, boat trips and shops. Plenty of restaurants within a ten minute walk. Car park just across the road and only 5 Euros a day.

Review 44:We expected more of the city. I would not call it "Venice of Portugal".

Review 45:Breakfast was excellent. Hotel is bood and also is the location. Good that there is a parking across the street.

Review 46:Nice hotel in a very charming city. Historical buiding that is itself the attraction of Aveiro. I paid less for the view inside the hotel but received perfect room with the view on the canal and boats. Very nice interiors of the restaurant, reading room and other public areas.

Review 47:Very Poor wifi speed in rooms. Rooms overlook promenade, so very noisy at nights, avoid weekends. Aircon didn't work, do had to keep window open.

Review 48:Easy access to boat rides and numerous restaurants. Nice rooms

Review 49:Had a chance to upgrade for a better room with a TV but it was disappointing because it was the same room with a small portable TV in it, that was brought in the room and didnt even seem like it belonged there, not worth the 10€ upgrade per night. Breakfast is simple continental, no hot dishes. Overall feels more like a 3* hotel, not 4*.

Review 50:We emailed and asked for gluten and lactose-free products for breakfast when made the reservation and despite never receiving an answer from the hotel, they did have special products for us at breakfast and we were pleased with that. Natural orange juice was available which was very nice. Good location in Aveiro city center.

Review 51:Rooms and bathrooms were small.

Review 52:Enjoyed the riverfront location and near shopping and restaurants. The common lounge area was nice and the decor was all recently modern.

Review 53:Beds are not so comfortable.

Review 54:Nice welcome from reception! Gave us good tip of restaurant! Close to places of interest and shopping centre as well as boat trips.

Review 55:We felt that the service was rather impersonal and I got the feeling they felt they were doing us a favour by letting us stay there. The breakfast was adequate but have had much better in 3 star hotels. The biggest draw back was that other than a vending machine, there were no facilities for any refreshments other than at breakfast, the lounge area is very well appointed but lacks guest facilities for guests to want to spend any time there. In. Summary it really is like you are just renting a room

Review 56:Excellent wifi, location is very good and close to everything. Hotel furnishing is excellent.

Review 57:One of the best breakfasts I've ever had in a hotel. Included fresh orange juice and espresso coffee. The living room on the first floor is very charming.

Review 58:Public parking is a short walk away although luggage can be dropped off at the hotel. entrance.

Review 59:Although the room was smallish it had everything. Comfortable, clean, new and fully equipped. On the first floor is a tastefully decorated lounge with sofas, TV, an area with computers, a place to read and relax. The breakfast was excellent. Very well located on the canal and opposite the forum shopping centre with underground parking (special rate for the hotel). Very helpful staff.

Review 60:First impressions were poor - kept waiting 10 minutes to register; Had booked a room with a courtyard view and a bath - got one with a brick wall view and no bath; Coffee at breakfast undrinkable!

Review 61:Staff very keen to resolve problems - had a room change as soon as I complained; Waitress went out of her way to make me a cup of coffee that I could drink.

Review 62:We were promised a room with a "couryard" view but it was basically no view at all, so we asked for another room and in this room there was a odour, which we have to fix by ventilation. I could not get a boiled at breakfast.

Review 63:Basically a very good old hotel under refurbhisment. Good location.

Review 64:No car park is the only let down !! But the hotel is in the center of town so there is plenty of car parks not to far !!

Review 65:Staff was really polite and helpfull , the location was amazing and super confort !! Thank you

Review 66:The room lacks a confort of a 4 stars. No safe, small bed for a couple, no mini bar..... Meanwhile the location covers the rest as you are at the center of Aveiro and the canal.

Review 67:The location was great.... the staff at the desk were quiet nice

Review 68:The hotel is central to all of Averio. The second floor lounge is fabulous for meeting up with the other guests or just reading the paper and having a drink. If you arrive by train the hotel is ten minutes walk or 5 eruos by cab. Shopping, restaurants and entertainment are all walking distance. The Averio Forum, large shopping center, is directly across the canal from the hotel. I only wish I had more time to enjoy the place and all of the surroundings.

Review 69:Breakfast on Saturdays doesn't start until 8:00h.

Review 70:Cleanliness, staff kindness and hotel location are perfect. The room was modest but with all necessary things. The furniture is of good quality and made in style (very nice). The bathroom is pretty new and very clean. Room service is excellent and unobtrusive.

Review 71:Surprisingly, however, the breakfast was mediocre at best - with possibly the worst coffee we ever had in Portugal! In a country of great coffee, that was unexpected... and you will be much better off in any one of the many pastelarias nearby.

Review 72:No big surprises good or bad, clean and quiet rooms, great location, and overall a decent experience.

Review 73:A pleasant hotel with a good breakfast. The location is excellent for visiting the old town and taking the excellent boat trips. The shopping centre across the road is fabulous.

Review 74:Nothing

Review 75:Our room was located at the front of hotel with a balcony overlooking the canal. It was comfortable and the breakfast was good with lots of choices. There was a large, bright sitting area if you wanted to relax. The staff was very pleasant. The location was very central to lot of activities.

Review 76:the town is.. about nothing.. Just take the tour with "gondolas", eat in the nice place in centrum and you are good to go. Beds are awfull in this hotel. Small and hard. Like in 16 century I suppose.

Review 77:place is 2 min away from the center.

Review 78:The photos were slightly misleading. Aveiro was much busier than we expected and the hotel is located on a traffic island in the city centre. That said, it was very handy for canal trips and other facilities.

Review 79:Good location right in the centre of Aveiro and friendly helpful staff. The hotel was spotless and well appointed. Definitely value for money.

Review 80:No restaurant in the hotel - although there are plenty of cafes and restaurants within 5 minutes walk from the hotel. Really awful coffee from the automatic machine at breakfast. Parking/drop off outside the hotel is in a small slip road - you need to be rather quick at unloading your bags, checking in and then moving your car.

Review 81:The Aveiro Palace is in a convenient location right across the road (actually a roundabout) from the Ria (canal). The hotel has been modernised and was very clean and comfortable; excellent modern shower & bathroom. Our room had a (partial) canal view which was nice; the room was on the front corner of the hotel. We were not bothered by any traffic noise at all. Excellent lounge area on the 1st floor with a vending machine, Parking for 5 Euro overnight in the public car park across the road beneath the shopping centre..easy to both find and access with a swipe card provide by Hotel reception.

Review 82:Breakfast does not correspond to 4 stars hotel. Very limited choice of food with no hot dishes (eggs, sausages etc.). It was extremely humid in the room, air conditioning does not help, linen becomes wet. Room with window to courtyard in reality means the room with window to narrow technical shaft, no view at all. Impossible to open due to the noise from the shaft.

Review 83:Centrally located

Review 84:Room was basic, no fridge, tea or coffee facilities and no complimentary toiletries.

Review 85:Clean, bed comfortable, great location for exploring on foot. Had parking at nearby public underground car park. We were able to check in an hour early.had a great lounge area.

Review 86:Some kind of loud 'technical noises' started every morning before 8, so we had early early 'wake-up'. Breakfast selection should have wider - nothing fresh, no eggs. Coffee from machine was undrinkable, but luckily there are a lot of nice local cafes around.

Review 87:Very good central location.

Review 88:The hotel has an impersonal feel to it. The “single room with courtyard view” was very disappointing. Apart from being tiny and sparsely furnished with a tiny bed and tiny television, the “courtyard view” is deceptive: if you open the window, you will look straight into 3 walls and the windows of other rooms very close-by. Definitely, absolutely NO VIEW whatsoever. The wi-fi signal in the room was weak and the bathroom extractor fan was incredibly noisy. Overall, I think there are better options around at the price.

Review 89:The hotel is well-situated on the canal near a mall, restaurants, and shops. It is within a 20 minute walk from the train station. Hotel staff were brisk and efficient rather than friendly or welcoming. The breakfast was basic but adequate.

Review 90:Room was small, window 5 foot off the ground and frosted.I could see why when opened it looked out on airconditioning units. Was expecting a view of a courtyard not very impressed considering it was a 4 star hotel.

Review 91:Location

Review 92:I think they can improve their breakfast. The coffee is not very tasty and they should offer some eggs or something cooked

Review 93:It is a very good hotel and it is situated very near from the pubs, it takes you about five minutes. It is very confortable and very clean

Review 94:The outlet in my bathroom didn't work but i told the reception and as soon as i got back from a walk around town it was fixed!

Review 95:Loved the breakfast, especially since it was included.. Wifi worked amazing and the staff were very nice.

Review 96:No hot breakfast surprised us.

Review 97:We were able to park outside while we checked in, then parked the car 5 mins walk away. The reception staff were very helpful and friendly. The room was comfortable with good wi-fi. The hotel is right by the canal with site seeing buses and boats right there. Excellent shopping and movie theatres nearby.

Review 98:Rooms are very small. The personal was helpful but inexperienced

Review 99:The location is excellent, the public rooms are spacious and the breakfast is good with a rather large selection

Review 100:lack of fridge or safety box in the room.Very small TV.No toiletries,no cold water or ice available

Review 101:Loved the location right in the centre of the tourist area of town, right above the canal, with boats there on our doorstep.Good shopping centre and restaurants nearby.

Review 102:We were given a very small room on arrival like a cell They said we had been upgraded to it Then they moved us to a larger room I had booked a courtyard view and from pics is believed there was a balcony. He said no rooms with balcony. I told him no problem I would email booking .com about my disappointment and he offered me another room. This room 108 was fab view of canals and courtyard comfy sofa and space. Didn't like being treated like a fool.

Review 103:Finally room was fab location good city sightseeing bus just outside deffo worth the 8 euros Canal trips also outside and some goo food in the area in walking distance of hotel.

Review 104:No hot dishes for breakfast - no eggs, no bacon. And the coffee is too strong and creamy (no regular black breakfast coffee as we like it.)

Review 105:Good location, charming place and helpful staff.

Review 106:Don't have a restautant.

Review 107:Good breakfast

Review 108:The staff and breakfast there are perfect, the location as well

Review 109:Small Room, Value for money

Review 110:Location; Cleanliness; Lounge Room

Review 111:Nothing.

Review 112:Everything.

Review 113:Excellent position in the centre with comfortable parking a few meters away. Excellent breakfast. Stunning view on the river.

Review 114:elevador sempre cheio

Review 115:Localização

Review 116:breakfast is only cold dishes. hotel is on the main crossing of Aviero. very noisy

Review 117:large room and the hotel is in the tourist center

Review 118:The hotel don't have facilities to fed your baby at the day for lunch or dinner just only open for breakfast!

Review 119:The location

Review 120:Good Location

Review 121:Location in center of town, friendly, efficient check-in, good restaurant advise.

Review 122:No bar if required in the evening

Review 123:Location very good staff modern ness of hotel

Review 124:good location very nice staff

Review 125:Was a little too noisey

Review 126:The breakfast and side view from room

Review 127:Location was perfect, room was very good and staff very nice!!

Review 128:No Wi-Fi available during the first night.

Review 129:Great Location.

Review 130:Friendly reception and clean room

Review 131:The location. The staff. The room. The breakfast.
