Reviews for Pousada Cavalo Marinho

Review 1:Our room was on the second floor at the end of the corridor, which meant we didn't get wifi signal in our room which was a shame, especially as on the website it says you should get WIFI everywhere. None of the staff seemed to speak any english at all, which was awkward.

Review 2:Nice room, but a bit damp. Lovely breakfast, lovely spacious hostel, clean, lots of hammocks. On our check out day I wasn't well, and they let us stay in the room for an extra couple of hours which was really nice.

Review 3:We had to switch rooms because our sink and toilet were leaking. The Internet would only work in the main breakfast area and our air conditioning did not work. Also, there were tiny ants all over the room.

Review 4:The staff were very friendly and helped out as much as they could considering the language barrier. The breakfast had a wide variety of choices.

Review 5:Only one time there was cold water in the shower, the rest of the days we had warm water, so not too bad

Review 6:WLAN was working well in the breakfast, I don't understand why a lot of people here on booking complained about it. The room was nice, the bed quite comfortable. There was one lady at the reception which helped us a lot, the others were a little grumpy...

Review 7:Our pillows had a very bad smell. I think it is because of the hummidity because it was also difficult to dry our clothes.

Review 8:The breakfast was good. It changed everyday a little bit. They offered a lot of fruits. I also really liked the hammocks. There was a relaxed atmosphere at the pousada

Review 9:Staff wasn't superfriendly. No place to hang your laundry outside.

Review 10:Value for money, there was warm water, breakfast was pretty good and wifi worked for us. That was all more than we had expected considering what we paid for it.

Review 11:you can hear people walking around and talking really well..

Review 12:Very simple rooms, but clean and cheap and nice staff. breakfast was really good. asked for an extra bed in the booking and it was already there when we arrived.

Review 13:The wifi was not working but it's a problem on the whole island.

Review 14:The breakfast was very tasty with a lot of choice. And it was a pleasant and calm stay.

Review 15:Staff doesn't speak english at all, internet only work in the lobby and... the evening only, minimal confort. VERY EXPENSIVE for what is it.

Review 16:Location is good: not in the village center so its quiet. It is clean, aircon in the rooms and hammock outside the room

Review 17:Fridge in the room didn't seem to work and there was a bit of trouble with being able to take our payment but I think that's more to do with Ilha Grande's infrastructure

Review 18:Comfortable room with everyone you could need. Good breakfast with a lot of variety which was quite rare in Brazil! Close to lots of bars/restaurants but tucked away enough for it to be nice and peaceful

Review 19:The fact that the view consist solely of the back, of the neighbouring, unpainted pousada. No wifi in the room. Lack of hammocks. Small courtyard, leaves a lot to be desired (due to lack of sun) Poor facilities for guests who check out in the morning but aren't leaving the island first thing in the morning i.e. one outside shower. In short, you get what you pay for.

Review 20:The staff were friendly and it is ideally located. The pousada is basic with not much going on. There's a straight forward breakfast, bread, cheese, ham, and fruit with coffee (no tea!). However ideally located, quite and cheap. Somewhere to get your head down.

Review 21:The mattress on our bed was uncomfortable. Both of us sank into parts of the mattress, and it was hard to escape. When we booked, our room was supposed to have a hammock - but in reality there were only four or five hammocks strung outside the first floor rooms. Although these hammocks were likely for all guests, it felt awkward to use a hammock directly outside someones room. Although when we booked the booking conditions claimed that we would be charged for 50% of the reservation upon booking, when we checked out the pousada claimed we had not been charged and charged us for the entire booking. Upon returning home, we found that indeed we had not initially been charged upon booking - but they should change their booking conditions if they are not going to follow them.

Review 22:The coat rack in our room was nice for drying things. The shower in our room was very high flow and had warm water. Our room was clean. There was a laundry place nearby. The breakfast/common patio area was right near the wireless router and actually ended up being a nice place to relax. The wireless was reliably up, but not very fast. The included breakfast was large and nicely presented, with four types of fruits, two breads, cake, meat, cheese, coffee, milk, and two juices.

Review 23:WIFI does not work good. But is probably the same on the whole Island.

Review 24:Good Breakfast

Review 25:nothing at all

Review 26:totally recommendable! nice rooms, the breakfast, very helpful staff!

Review 27:Wi fi (worked only in living room)

Review 28:staff, clean rooms, breakfast, dosen't speak english but try to us transalotor to understand us ;-)

Review 29:no wifi in room and dodgy in the reception area.

Review 30:Everything except wifi

Review 31:the only negative thing: the noise of the aircos.. Ask for another room than the 3 in the back, because there you have 3 aircos making noise together...

Review 32:Really nice & friendly people, excellent breakfast, nice & clean room

Review 33:They actually overbooked their hotel and flogged me off to their next door neighbour which seemed similar but didn't have the finishing a such as hammocks as did the Pousada I actually booked. Was very cross that they didn't even offer to drop the price. Room was a bit dingy to be honest. For £30 I would expect much more than I got. Total rip off

Review 34:Staff

Review 35:They have really nice clean rooms, rich breakfast and good location. It's not at the main street so it's not that noisy there. There was just one small problem and it was that the hotel staff didn't speak english.

Review 36:There were some ants in our bathroom, but it didn't really bother us.

Review 37:The pousada is nicely located, tucked away from the street, it's a verycozy garden/sitting and breakfast area. Rooms are clean, showers arewarm. Breakfast is good. Staff is very friendly, though they speaklittle English.

Review 38:Unfortunately I didn't find the Pousada to be clean. There was cockroaches in the bathroom, the pillows were really smelly (as someone's else sweat). There is a rule regarding the use of the ac, they will charge 15 reais extra a day if you use it after the breakfast and before 6 pm, which is really hard as the place can get to 100 F.

Review 39:The breakfast buffet was reasonable. The location is good, really close to the Main Street, restaurants, drugstores and the pier where most boat rides leave.

Review 40:Wifi was dramatic, although the staff was doing it's best to restore the internet connection.

Review 41:Breakfast was good, fresh bread and cake. Less romantic than the Pousada's at the beachside, but good value for money.

Review 42:Very helpful staff (some english speaking), clean and neat, you had everything you need for the stay, nice breakfast, welcoming entrance

Review 43:Very poor wifi. The room was very tired, everything in the bathroom seemed to be falling off

Review 44:Price, breakfast, location

Review 45:Internet did not work well.

Review 46:Good location and breakfast.

Review 47:There were flies all over the fruit at breakfast.

Review 48:The staff were friendly and my room was clean.

Review 49:Didnt clean my room Bad breakfast Slow wifi only one person speak bad english
