Reviews for Quinta De Casaldronho Wine Hotel

Review 1:The coffee was terrible (instant), so we reverted to wine.

Review 2:Overall the experience was great. We loved the food, wine, service, people and the view!!!!

Review 3:The Hotel was situated at the end of a long winding track through a vineyard We were pleased that we were driving a 4x4.as slopes were slippery in the wet weather

Review 4:The people on reception were very helpful & friendly, They gave us advice on places to visit in the Douro Valley area

Review 5:A little hard to find, you need to drive through a vineyard on a narrow dirt road - wouldn't be a good thing if someone was coming in the other direction, luckily it did not happen to us. Do not plan on arriving in the dark!!

Review 6:Amazing location in the middle of a vineyard. Go up to the roof and look around and all you can see for miles are hills with grapevines. Spectacular sunset. Loved the modern design of the hotel. Great staff. Had a delicious, gourmet dinner and although there was a set menu - we couldn't eat what they offered and they were very accommodating in providing an alternative. This is a very magical and special place that I would highly recommend.

Review 7:the breakfast was a joke. instant coffee in 4 star hotel is not right. the food for breakfast was of vary average quality. location is very pretty but don't try to find on the map. you have to google it a lot to find it right. the room I book was with balcony but I got a room without balcony with a view on power mast and power cabels.....sad and pathetic. everything in the room lookd boit tired. poor quality of finish in the room. far too expensive . NEVER AGAIN.

Review 8:LOCATION

Review 9:It was a winehouse in the sense that it was set amidst the vineyards of Douro, but had no services related to wine (tastings or courses). The staff was happy to direct us to existing ones in the vicinity, though.

Review 10:The surroundings, the architecture of the building, the staff

Review 11:Difficult to get to but once there, it was lovely? Bathroom was not too clean. The restaurant offered limited choices and the meal was of poor quality and expensive.

Review 12:Location was beautiful, rooms were modern but nice, staff was helpful. This has the potential to be a great getaway but some improvement required first.

Review 13:The path from the road to the hotel needs a lot of (re)surfacing. The food and drinks prices are excessive. Our room was small, impossible to properly open the wardrobe, the "desk" shelf is too high, the curtains don't screen the light and they are very high up, so impossible to close completely. The hotel opened a year ago and some things still need to be sorted out.

Review 14:Beautiful use of old parts to make a very stylishly modern hotel. The staff is friendly and helpful. The view is great.

Review 15:The hotel appears understaffed, as a result the service is a little "slow". Also the location of the hotel makes it impossible to go out for dinner - and the "local" cuisine is just about OK.

Review 16:The hotel is very well laid out and the rooms are great. The balcony facing the outside hills is very spacious and has a great view. The price is just right

Review 17:We had the most remarkable stay here. I know that roads are very narrow to get there, but once we got there, we were impressed constantly by this boutique hotel. First of all, the hotel is super sheik and modern. And the location is breathtaking, on top of a large hill with really amazing sweeping views. We were greeting with fresh squeeze orange juice when we got there. Patricia, was wonderful and took care of us throughout out stay. We proceeded to do a two hour wine tasting with a wonderful cheese plate. Pours were plentiful and it even ended with a free glass of the wine of our choice. We then proceeded to the amazing rooftop pool to relax and again, the view just made it so incredibly special. The rooms are really clean, large. I also loved the little touches, how wonderful all the sheets smelled, the double sinks, large tub, all positives. We had dinner at the hotel, which was delicious (I had the best Octopus there ever). We were even comp'd some extras as well which is always great. Note that it is a set menu with choices for the entrée and dessert. There is no better deal than this place in the Douro Valley. We were truly spoiled and I would recommend with my utmost confidence!

Review 18:Access is very steep but that comes with the terrain. Nice views although pylons detract slightly. Our room was a little small to manoeuvre round the bed.

Review 19:Modern, clean, stylish hotel. Balcony. Staff very pleasant and helpful. Nice views. Isolated and quiet.

Review 20:The power lines that spoiled the otherwise beautiful view. A bit hard to find the place and at the end of a bumpy gravel road.

Review 21:The modern and unusual architecture in a very scenic and calm setting. The helpful and friendly staff.

Review 22:The huge electric pillar in front of the windows distroying the view.

Review 23:Due to overbooking they asked us to check out one day earlier: however, they were very caring in offering alternatives and a free-dinner.

Review 24:The restaurant wasn't open by the time we stayed and that was clearly a downside because the nearest city is about 5km away.

Review 25:The hotel is great and the people are very helpful about everything. They recommended us places to go and organized somethings for us that made our trip much easier

Review 26:The electricity poles ruin the views

Review 27:Great staff. Nice breakfast

Review 28:The entrance road is steeped difficult

Review 29:Excellent food

Review 30:Quiet, not touristy, working vineyards verandah attached to room - private and extensive view of the valley

Review 31:The road to the hotel is very narrow and dangerous while arriving with a car especially at night

Review 32:Location, view, a place to have a real rest

Review 33:A little secluded which can be a plus. Swimming pool was very cold.

Review 34:Loved the location and the people are terrific ( George and others)

Review 35:very slow service for dinner

Review 36:pool view.

Review 37:uncomfortable bed, poor wifi, no character

Review 38:Nice view, tranquil

Review 39:Weak wifi in room but wasn't a deal breaker

Review 40:The views from the pool

Review 41:If you do not like pool, there is no other activities at all. No fitness center and the area is impossible to run outside.

Review 42:Pool on Rolf was excellent.

Review 43:For such a quality hotel , the food was very ordinary. Little choice and expensive.

Review 44:The views were amazing . Staff very friendly.

Review 45:Modern enterieur, polite stuff, excellent kitchen, calm surround

Review 46:The road to the hotel was not very nice - it was under construction

Review 47:Nice building Kind staff Nice scenery

Review 48:Small room

Review 49:Location Comfort View Facilities Staff

Review 50:not easy to arrive, small rooms, bar empty

Review 51:Arquitecture and site
