Reviews for Delfim Douro Hotel
Review 1:the hotel could improve their signage. if we did not have google maps things could have become rather unpleasant finding it on this dark and winding road. We were forced to have dinner at the hotel the first night, and unfortunately it was not good. the food was mediocre at best. you're definitely better off driving to nearby regua to eat better for lesser money. the hotel was also cold despite it being winter. the common areas were not heated and the room heating took hours to kick in.
Review 2:the view from our room was exquisite. right on the banks of the duoro river. sunrise, sunset -just being there was a treat. the room itself was spacious and very comfortable (although cold). It made for a very good and easy base to explore the surrounding region.
Review 3:Wifi connection: needed to reconnect very often. Breakfast coffee: I ordered Nespresso everyday and it was positively served but the other coffee available by default was the 'pumped' one
Review 4:View, swimming pool, wine, staff, calm place
Review 5:It was extremely difficult to find the hotel. In the end we went to the GNR who were most helpful. The staff found it impossible to give directions over the telephone.
Review 6:Once we got there it was a most pleasant experience. The hotel over looks the river Douro and it is beautiful. The staff were pleasant , breakfast very good but the most enjoyable part of our stay was the superb beds, best nights sleep for some time.
Review 7:Room was scruffy, walls were badly marked and the design of the room allowed no privacy at all. There was no door on the toilet and a glass screen between the shower/ toilet and the bedroom which we didn't like ( maybe because we are British!!!!)
Review 8:Staff are wonderful. Location is superb
Review 9:Lack of supervision of staff, eg fresh towels provided but dirty ones not removed. Minibar not topped up. Food never hot enough. Lack of privacy in bathroom - no door and glass walls.
Review 10:Beautiful location, once you find it. More signposts badly needed for twisty country roads.
Review 11:Food served at Dinner was poor so ate elsewhere.Breakfast average for price of room..Little parking or outside on road verge.
Review 12:Nice river views, nice pool
Review 13:In the middle of nowhere, nothing within walking distance. But with a car only ten minutes to Regua, which has restaurants, shops and such. Restaurant at the hotel is not that good, overpriced... One day the pool was crowded and we could not fit in at all.
Review 14:Beatiful view, lovely service. Very clean and quiet. Nice vineyards nearby (with a car).
Review 15:Balconies are very small with view of construction on one side. Hotel is hard to find as the sign from the main road only says Hotel and the sign Delfim Hotel is only visible once you make the turn from the main road. The hotel address does not contain a street address so a GPS does not help in finding the hotel.
Review 16:Good food, nice views, clean room, friendly staff.
Review 17:Evening meal one evening the vegetables were overcooked
Review 18:The views were spectacular, staff very attentive very comfortable bedrooms lovely bathroom with spectacular views !!!! Great swimming pool open all the time. Very good breakfast.
Review 19:Wifi and organization during beakfast could be improved
Review 20:The location and the view is impressive. The building and facilities and great and the staff is always friendly and available to help.
Review 21:Not having a door in your toilet/bathroom is not everybody's cup of tea as you can wave at your partner sitting on the toilet and have no option of a curtain or similar to cover it.
Review 22:The location is beautiful, the staff very friendly. Super quiet. Perfect place to relax.
Review 23:Wonderful staff. Excellent view over the River Douro. Nice pool. Car needed to take advantage of position. Great for river trips upstream from Pinhao to Tua.
Review 24:Being asked to pay €8 per hour for a game of pool! (Needless to say we didn't bother) At peak times eg weekends there are insufficient sun loungers around the pool. Guests are forced to sit on bean bags or on the grass. Don't consider this is acceptable for a hotel in this price category. The food was mostly good, however the pork one night was very fatty and tough and dessert the same night was just a waffle with ice cream (chefs night off maybe?)
Review 25:Stunning location overlooking the Douro, great breakfasts, very peaceful. The staff are very friendly and helpful.
Review 26:Terrible WiFi connection. Only one 'spare' outlet located in the bathroom to recharge our devices - not ideal!! No wine glasses in the room so we could sample wine or port bought in the region. We noticed in the hotel's compendium a fine for bringing in outside food/beverages!! Also, towel card to exchange pool towels!! Ridiculous!!
Review 27:The most obvious is the Delfim's location - perched high over the River Douro it holds a commanding and very scenic position! Helpfulness and courtesy of staff. Great interior design of the hotel lobby and sun loungers
Review 28:NOTHING!!!
Review 29:Everything!!! Pool, room, restaurant, staff, views... just great, relaxing and luxurious! The whole hotel area has splendid views on the Douro river. The food (both dinner and breakfast) were just perfect! Staff of reception desk is sooo nice and helpfull!
Review 30:Wifi could be improved, despite the signal is OK on the bedrooms, you need to add user code and password everytime you want to connect. There is wifi on the social area and swimming pool but the signal is a bit weak.
Review 31:The hotel is great, great staff, great location, great service, great swimming. The room is big and very comfortable with amazing view to Douro valley. Any room, all of them have the same view. Great wineries to visit nearby and still close to the city if you want.
Review 32:Great location and setting. Restaurant was much better than we expected and had lovely food. For us a slightly more casual ambience for the dining room would have been nice with the little one...but I think the young staff weren't sure how to reassure us a little noise was okay...overall I would highly recommend this hotel.
Review 33:Somehow when you're in a kind of luxurious place like this you become fussier than usual, so I spotted a few details in the bathroomt that didn't live up to my expectations .... but who cares...it's more like picking holes, isn't it? Go there - it's a spledid place.
Review 34:The view! And the design. And the breakfast and the view at breakfast. Honestly, it's a gorgeous place. You need a car to get there, though.
Review 35:Modern trend of not having door in bathroom/toilet is a questionable in real life. Necessity to type user name/password each time when logging to the internet
Review 36:Excellent view from the rooms, rooms are very modern, designed with common sense and clean. Extremely friendly staff. Breakfast is 10 out of 10.
Review 37:Excellently! Modern hotel. Beautiful views of the Douro river and surrounding vineyards. Beautiful modern interiors. Excellent breakfast. Rooms with huge windows and balconies. Parking on the street next to the hotel.
Review 38:A strange decision with a bathroom with a view to the valley! In case light is on in the bathroom, too inconvenient even for family couples! Everyone needs intimacy;)
Review 39:I know this doesn't have to do with the hotel's rating, but i must say... the Restaurant was too expensive, bad quality. Tried the "Cabrito" and it was very, very bad!! Don't know if it was because of the main dish, but the chocolate desert was also poor. The service was impecable and the view very good! Note: the hotel's sign at the main road is very small and high, stay aware or you may miss the turn :)
Review 40:Room very comfortable, warm, great view, breakfast very good, and staff extremely nice. Nothing to criticize… Hope to return and enjoy the pool with the sightseeing, not having dinner at the restaurant :)
Review 41:Very friendly staff with great advice of wines and different areas to visit. Beautiful views over the Douro, very clean and modern hotel, we had a lovely patio from our room overlooking the river. Great food in the restaurant.
Review 42:I asked for late check-out and after asking to two different receptionists who "couldn't" answer me I felt like I was being pushed away of my request. The "funny" part was that when I was checking out, the receptionist asked me about the late check-out :)
Review 43:The view from my room was breathtaking and rooms are really nice.
Review 44:Beautiful views as it looks out on to the Douro River and all the quintas(vineyards). The rooms are modern, clean and spacious but also luxurious and comfortable.Staff very friendly and helpful. We would stay here again.
Review 45:Lost in the dark. Phoned the hotel 3 times. Apparently the phone system was not working. Thank goodness for GPS. We were so lost. No directional signs to hotel. Check in staff was not helpful or apologetic for the non-working phone system, or that we had been lost. Hotel smelled like pet deodorizer and was SO strong it was hard to breath. Carpet was dirty. Balcony only seats one person. No duvet covers on the bed. No privacy in the bathroom. No kleenex. Food in the restaurant appeared old/not fresh and both myself and husband had upset stomachs after our meal. We checked out early and moved to another hotel.
Review 46:The young man (who spoke French) in the restaurant. He was so kind, informative and helpful. Besides the great view from the hotel balcony, he was most certainly a big PLUS. We liked the phone call to the room informing us of our breakfast delivery - nice touch.
Review 47:The quality of the dinner was not what could have been expected in relation to the other services of the hotel.
Review 48:The girl at the reception was outstandig. Very reactive upon every request and provided us with some very good recommendations of addresses to visit.
Review 49:Not having stayed for more than 2 days.
Review 50:The Tasting menus. The friendliness of the staff. The wonderful views. The proximity to the wine estates. The white sangria poolside. The breakfast.
Review 51:Wi-Fi didn't work properly in the room.
Review 52:The rooms are very comfortable and well decorated. The view is breathtaking. It's a perfect place to relax and recharge batteries.
Review 53:not enough mattresses wifi at dinner time was too slow on one day. The next day it was ok again.
Review 54:staff exceptionally friendly pool view breakfast dinner!! great food! codfish and squid
Review 55:The car park was rather small & cramped for space.
Review 56:Very comfortable room with splendid view over the river towards Peso de Regua. Staff were friendly & accommodating. Dinner was well presented & most enjoyable although the portion sizes are on the lower end of the scale. The buffet breakfast was one of the best that we have ever seen in Portugal.
Review 57:Only negative point was that we could only connect one device via WIFI while it should have been three.
Review 58:As a family with a 4 year old we had a great stay at the hotel. Staff is very helpfull, pool is very clean and quiet. Food and drinks are of excellent price/quality. Views are perfect, we will definitely go back in the near future. A perfect relaxing experience.
Review 59:Absolutely nothing to point out
Review 60:We enjoyed everything. The hotel is located in a very beatiful and charming place of Douro's.Hotel facilities are very nice and the staff is very focused and customer oriented.
Review 61:The open plan bathroom. I don't like the toilet in my bedroom. All it had round it was a glass partition.
Review 62:I liked everything about the hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We stayed in a suit that was a good size and very clean. My only complaint about the hotel was the bathroom. It was open plan and I didn't like it at all. I asked if this was just in the suit but was told that all the rooms are the same.
Review 63:The wi-fi system, as well as the TV in the rooms, were not working properly, and the choice of available TV channels a bit odd, for an international (and national) audience.
Review 64:For a 4 star hotel it is really splendid, the views, the rooms, the services, the restaurant, the sympathy and the professionalism of the staff.
Review 65:Maybe the restaurant is a little bit expensive for the food specially the steak. We might have paid for the view.
Review 66:Pool is wonderful as well as the view of the Douro river from everywhere on the site. The bathroom is very nice and you can see the mountains through the glass when having a shower.
