Review 1：there is an inside terrace. It is open all night. In the middle of the night (3h) there were still guests talking loud while smoking on the terrace right under my room. Please close the inside terrace after midnight so that all guests have a good night rest

Review 3：The extreme friendliness of the staff and the generous understanding for a date mistake I made when booking. They corrected it with a smile and… without any cost. I have rarely had the opportunity to come across this kind of behavior!

Review 4：1.That one could not reserve a garage space in advance when one is coming from far & expected to arrive late. To then have to look for a parking in a crowded city centre with limited parking when the hotel has its own garage for resident travellers. 2.The huge jaccuzi & shower without any shower curtain. 3. No disposable night slippers or disposable tooth brushes & tooth paste. 4. The air conditioner in the room was very noisy & needs to be looked at too.

Review 9：As our satnav directed us the wrong way up a one way street to get to the hotel we ended parking on the quay a few minutes' walk away. As the hotel car park was on another street,and very expensive unless you intended to stay in Kortrijk all day (which we didn't) we left the car on the quay.

Review 10：This is a grand old hotel with character. It is in an ideal location, overlooking a square in the centre of the old town. Our room, which faced inwards, was extremely quiet.

Review 21：Shower screen let water pour over bathroom floor. I had booked twin rooms but hotel said i hadn't. Not helpful in getting food for the kids in the evening wouldn't cook plain pasta, said it was not gastronomic enough. Ate out in square after that better value and food

Review 23："The hotel offers minibar with free drinks." The sentence is misleading. Actually, it is a minifridge with 4 bottles with water (250 ml). The water is welcome, but the sentence should be "minibar with bottled water".

Despite there being a funfair going on in the square the hotel room was quiet and comfortable. The receptionist, Ruth, was most helpful and friendly

Review 28：As Americans, we get spoiled by cookie cutter hotels that have no soul or character and we expect immediacy. It is a shame that people project that on other countries and their customs and standards. The Hotel Damier was absolutely top notch. It was quaint and elegant at the same time. The staff were great and very helpful and friendly. The room was quite nice and large by European standards. The breakfast buffet, which is included in the price of the room, is just fantastic! It's Belgian and it spoiled me on breakfasts in London hotels and Paris hotels. BTW - the coffee in Belgium beats any I've had anywhere. I took several day trips away from Kortrijk, but when I was on my way back to the Hotel Damier, I found myself thinking, "I can't wait to get home" and I meant to the Hotel.

Review 33：The decor of our room and bathroom looked rather tired and in need of re-decoration. Supposed to be a superior double, but didn't feel like it was. However, the bed was comfortable. Unfortunately, room excessively over heated and apparently no way of controlling under-floor heating, other than by opening windows.

Review 54：The hotel has a great charachter about it from the moment you walk in. Staff are friendly and helpful, the rooms are tastefully decorated. Free bottled still and sparking water is provided in the room and numerous tv channels including English ones. There was a large choice for breakfast including fruit juice, cereal, fresh fruit, yogurts, breads, cheeses and hot food.

Review 57：This was billed as a 'superior' room (# 72} and, although it was large, there was only a small double bed, not the 2m I would have expected. There was only one side table - where was the 2nd person supposed to put spectacles, medications, etc? There was one cupboard, intended for a wardrobe but it was already almost full with a mini-fridge, a safe set so high up that I couldn't reach it and spare bedding. The hanging-space was so shallow that a cardigan or shirt trailed on the fridge-top - hanging a dress or a coat would have been impossible. The small desk contained 2 very small drawers in which we managed to cram our clean underwear after removing various publicity materials and a bible which lurked there. There was no other storage space and only one not very comfortable chair - a superior double room in which only one person can sit down? A flat screen TV which could easily have been hung on the wall, occupied a small round table. This was a pity as there was no dressing-table and the only place to put cosmetics, hair brush, etc was on the windowsill. The bathroom was tiny and uncomfortably warm with nowhere to hang your hand-towel and minimal stowage space for toothbrushes, shaving kit, contact lens solutions and so on. If this is a superior room, then what on earth are the 'ordinary' rooms like?
