Reviews for Casa dos Varais
Review 1:Nothing in general.
Review 2:This is beautiful hotel and a must if one likes medieval ambience. The interior decoration lives up to its theme. Truly a very pleasant experience.
Review 3:Nothing bad at all!
Review 4:The hospitality style is very personal. The building is beautiful, a grand old house with a lot of history. We even voluntarily helped with crushing the grapes, it ws great fun.
Review 5:It was like walking into another time...we were treated like family! Harvest time was a great experience - we stomped grapes! Dinner was wonderful! Recommended other vineyards in the area to see. Owners on site and interactive!
Review 6:Room was a bit cramped with twin beds.
Review 7:An old casa with lots of character and a great host. Overlooking Reguas and the river, close by car to Lemago and the wineries.
Review 8:The bed was making bit noise but could get used to it!
Review 9:The amazingly friendly owners, excellent location (even if it is in front of the main road, therearedouble glazed windows), delicious freshly made breakfast, the atmospheric house!
Review 10:It's a very small and quiet cozy hold house, refurbished regarding all the details. The owners are very friendly and eager to share their knowledge about Douro region.
Review 11:Nothing, except having to leave.
Review 12:So much to compliment on this guest house. The owners-hosts are extraordinary in their hospitality. They graciously share their ancestral home, vineyards, dogs and are incredible cooks. The wine, port, olive oil, fruit and preserves are grown or made on site. Sitting on the patio, the view is across the Duoro River. It was very difficult to say goodbye.
Review 13:The size of a bed, tiny bathroom and very cold. This is a back side of antique style and atmosphere. Very special experience and it's ip to you whether you are interested in it.
Review 14:wish we could visit more often!
Review 15:What an ambience!! Staying in this historical manor is like stepping back in time...you can just imagine how it was to live in old classic Portugal. Add in the wonderful & generous team of Joao & Ni and you have a perfect combination! We are already planning our return!!
Review 16:the shower water was not very warm in the morning, but I must say that it didn't seem to matter that much as everything else was so pleasant!
Review 17:This feels like you are the family guest at an aristocratic home. Very familiar environment and the staff is extremely friendly and helpful. You can have a personal tour of the winemaking facilities by the enologist himself and can take nice strolls on the lovely garden.
Review 18:Nothing
Review 19:The location is lovely overlooking the Douro river. The good we had (breakfast each day and two evening meals) were all excellent. The staff were very helpful and attentive. We found a lot to do in the area.
Review 20:Lack of tea/coffee making facilities, bathroom was tiny and very cramped, decor was awful. Breakfast was spare and unappetizing. The hotel is on a main road which has no sidewalk, so you cannot walk to/from it without risking your life. They didn't accept any card other than AMEX and didn't think this was worth mentioning ahead of time. They think all travellers should pay with cash- at their prices!
Review 21:View from the room was excellent and staff were friendly.
