Reviews for Lillehammer Stasjonen Hotel & Hostel

Review 1:Unfortunately the bar was closed at night, because it looked very good

Review 2:Very central, close to shops and bus station, inside the station building. Good and clean kitchen, rooms are basic but not bad at all. Good breakfast

Review 3:Great for a stopover, located right in the station. Comfortable beds and delicious buffet breakfast. Also has a kitchen and lounge on the 2nd floor, for longer stays.

Review 4:The kitchen was very crowded and not enough cutlery/utensils for the amount of people using it. The lighting was also a bit of an issue. It was too dim to read by and two out of the four individual need lamps didn't work. Also, the kitchen/dining area want very well lit.

Review 5:It was a VERY convenient location! In the same building as the train station. A really cute place with books and messages around on the walls. A very good central location for looking around the town too. Even thought it was directly above the train station, it wasn't noisy at all.

Review 6:The stay was far to short, everything about my stay was perfect.

Review 7:Brilliant train trip right from Oslo international airport . Door to Hostel 2 meters from train door. Bus next to Bergan / Flam 2 meters other . direction. One of the best in Europe

Review 8:I thought it was a good idea to ask for a room not facing the train platform but the bus station was extremely noisy. It's fine if you close the window, but it's impossible to sleep with the window open. However, my fault. If you book a hotel in the train station then you should expect the noise.

Review 9:Friendly and helpful staff. Nice room, clean. Located at the train station, therefore easy to reach by bus or train.

Review 10:Maybe there is too many people eating breakfast, the staff is too busy to clean the table and recovery zone

Review 11:The location is very good and just in the upstairs of station

Review 12:This is the smallest hotel room I have stayed in, in 50 years of traveling. There was no place to put anything in the bathroom. On a square foot basis, this hotel was one of the most expensive EVER. It redefines 'bare bones'. don't stay here if you don't have to.

Review 13:Extremely convenient (came in by train)

Review 14:Nothing at all - great!

Review 15:We wanted to be close to the station, and that was exactly what we got, but not everyone's choice. Close to the Lake for boat trip - recommended. Residents' kitchen if wanted. Cosy station cafe for breakfast. Staff great. Enjoyed walk around the area.

Review 16:Room door not secured when we closed it. Only thru' a few trial then we realised we needed to swipe the door key so that our room is confirmed 'Locked'.

Review 17:Location is centralized and helpful staff.

Review 18:The bunk bed was narrow, with no rail, which felt a little perilous at first.

Review 19:Tasty, plentiful breakfast. Complimentary tea and coffee during the day in a comfy café area. Good shower and bathroom facilities.

Review 20:Excellent breakfast, very clean, friendly and helpful staff, comfortable beds. The communal kitchen was particularly welcome (and spotless). Right on our arrival, the reception person helped us find landmarks and made recommendations as to what to see. Highly recommended.

Review 21:Breakfast not included, you could by it separately but thought it was expensive. Also though they except pets for a charge you are not allowed to leave them in the room unattended if you need to nip out

Review 22:Kids loved the trains going past. Also parking near which was cheap and you are really right in the centre.Nothing luxurious but great as a stop over.

Review 23:Wifi was most reliable in the common areas, not your room. I was told My dorm room was a 4-bunk family room so maybe that was why it was very small with no secure storage. Had to cable-lock my pack to the bed when I left the room. Also, electrical plugs and reading lamps at each bunk would be expected.

Review 24:Breakfast was very substantial. Lunch and dinner menu was very good too. Helpful friendly staff. Location was perfect for someone arriving/departing by train. The double-glazed windows muted all outside noise.

Review 25:Very easy to find as it is placed in the Central Station building. Breakfast in the Central Station cafe was good and in very pleasant environment. Very pleased with this stay.

Review 26:Beds comfy, just a little narrow. No wardrobe/chest of drawers so not much storage.

Review 27:Great location, extremely convenient for getting the bus to the ski slopes. Despite being located next to train tracks, the trains were barely audible (from room out to the front of the building) Breakfast good, staff very friendly. My flight was delayed so I actually 'missed' the first night and they didn't charge me for it which I thought was very thoughtful. They then upgraded me from a 4-bed dorm to a twin room which I had to myself for the duration of my stay. Beds comfy.

Review 28:The picture on the booking site is misleading. We thought we'd stay at a renovated old part of the railway station but actually the hotel is right above the main hall of the current station and is accessed through an elevator from the main hall. Also realize when travelling by car and luggage that parking in front of the hotel is not allowed. Last we had our own family hotel room with a huge picture on the wall from charity work with a child with a head wound.

Review 29:Breakfast and the beds were good.

Review 30:the receptionist was surly and really unhelpful and didn't seem to know anything at least that was her response to any questions and the bathroom smells of stale urine so looked clean on the surface but wasn't clean and dust bunnies under the bed

Review 31:the rooms are very comfy and roomy and reasonably priced for Norway the location is super convenient both for the town and sights and for getting to the ski areas

Review 32:Norway is sooooo expensive!

Review 33:Excellent location right by railway station but with so few trains, noise is not a problem. Staff very helpful and cheerful. Cafe offerings good with free tea and coffee, a nice touch. Central Lillehammer just a couple of minutes away.

Review 34:However the bunkbed that I got , on top. Was not comfortable at all! I woke up the next morning with a sore back. We also asked for toilet paper, twice without getting any. They told us they would bring it up within 1 hour.

Review 35:The sitting area was nice and charming with the fire there. And good concept with themed rooms.

Review 36:Only thing I noted was lack of double beds and no small toileteries

Review 37:As I am a rail enthusiast the location couldn't have been better, simply open a window to photo the trains! The room had NSB logo, map and pictures of the local train route. Lovely touch!

Review 38:The sleeping quarters are on the other side of the station. Beds were a bit stiff and short.

Review 39:The staff was really accommodating, for a few reasons. One day I was too late for breakfast and the staff was kind enough to make me a large plate of breakfast food. I was very impressed, lots of places would have just said "too bad, you're too late".

Review 40:The staff are lovely and accommodating, and deliver good food, good beds, no noise during the night and great value for money! I'm definitely coming back to stay here.

Review 41:Shared male room bunk beds do not have curtains. a bit annoying having other people coming in at different times at night and turning on the light.

Review 42:Excelent location (right in the city centre at the bus and train station) with friendly and helpful staff, very clean, really good breakfast. Self catering kitchen well maintained.

Review 43:Well you don't book a train station hostel room and not expect train noise and announcements. No complaint though. Female announcer's voice was quite soothing! Only took a little while to adjust

Review 44:We loved the free coffee in the mornings. We loved the staff efficiency and friendliness. The convenience of the location was great and the presentation was clean and comfortable. We also liked the funky artistry of the sitting area. The idea of a hostel attached to a train station had me feeling a little apprehensive, but it worked! Comparatively affordable compared to some other places we stayed on our Norway road trip

Review 45:I told the receptionist that my reading lamp wasn't working but she, very quickly, ensured me that somebody would come but NOBODY went! The bathroom was quite dirty and lacking of shelves in the shower to put on things.

Review 46:I really appreciated the position, very near to the town centre and, as the hostel was just inside the ststion hall, it was comfortable if you have luggage! Matrass and pillow were comfortable

Review 47:Nothing.

Review 48:We only spent one night here, but found it perfect for our needs. We needed to use both bus and train so the location couldn't have been better.

Review 49:We found out one night that the restaurant was closed the night we wanted to have dinner

Review 50:The relaxed atmosphere - staff were very helpful - rooms very clean and shower was as good as any rated hotel.

Review 51:The cost of everything in Norway is expensive!! Eat a big breakfast andget used to stodgy food. Wean yourself off coffee as the cost of a latteis about aud9. Staff were indifferent to visitors and not particularlyfriendly. Single washing machine is in a locked cleaners storeroom soyou constantly have to ask staff to unlock and/or find your clothesare locked in overnight as the hostel is not staffed overnight, veryfrustrating. Kitchen is ok but no bowls for microwaving! ! So eitherhave to use a saucepan and frypan. Also have to share the single sharpknife? ? Weird. .. room was cozy with no shelves so literally have tolive out of your suitcase.

Review 52:Location was fantastic. Right at the train station. Very eurobreakfast with salami, ham, cheese, fresh bread which wears very thinafter a week.

Review 53:Breakfast spartanic Two separate beds, when a double bed was requested Kitchen closed at 9pm sharp Wifi too low, breaks down, inconvenient login

Review 54:Close to station Breakfast included Kitchen to prepare some own food, cutlery etc. Free wifi

Review 55:The rooms (at least the one we shared) a bit too small for thee people.

Review 56:It is located in the centre of the town. There's parking space available. The reception staff are very helpful and kind

Review 57:Very expensive. No storage space. Very inefficient. Not even a luggage stand. Not close to being called a hotel at all. Small cramped room right over noisy train station. Not a good value whatsoever. Breakfast very meager compared to other places in Norway and Sweden.

Review 58:Bed okay

Review 59:Great rooms and very clean! The location is central for everything you'd need. The breakfast is also very tasty and excellent value for money!

Review 60:The bed was a little on the narrow side.

Review 61:The location from the train station. Good breakfast. Great staff.

Review 62:So nice to arrive at the station and to know, that the hotel is part of the building and your bed is very nearby. Had an excellent breakfast.

Review 63:Location Welcoming staff Breakfast

Review 74:Generally OK overall

Review 75:The location and friendly receptionist.

Review 76:There is a kitchen so that you can cook. The room is very large. We were 3 and have 4 beds

Review 77:convenient location as we were travelling by train

Review 78:small room

Review 79:The location was good

Review 80:none

Review 81:helpful front desk staff, cheap public parking lot

Review 82:It was so hot we couldn't even sleep.

Review 83:The breakfast

Review 84:Surprise!.....it was next door to the train station!

Review 85:Dark & dusty firetrap with dirty stained walls. Please replace light bulbs. No electric outlets whatsoever.

Review 86:A view of train station on the picture

Review 87:bedroom little too small

Review 88:great location

Review 89:There was a nice breakfast.

Review 90:Location!

Review 91:Everything. And the Chocolate cake !

Review 92:Too few cooking knives and bowls for self-catering :)

Review 93:Big room, good common facilities.

Review 94:Rooms do not have a good noise isolation.

Review 107:Noise from the bus station.

Review 108:Centrally placed hotel with the necessary facilities. Fairly small but clean rooms. Good breakfast.

Review 109:Very basic but all you need for a short stay. Great value for what you pay.

Review 110:Noise because it is in the train station

Review 111:Well equiped kitchen Good breakfest Very beautifull room that reflect the scandinavic design :)

Review 112:Would have preferred a light blanket instead of duvet.

Review 113:Perfect location, close to everything, very excellent breakfast.

Review 114:Good food and nice staff

Review 115:Beds too narrow.

Review 116:Excellent breakfast. Great location. Surprisingly quiet.

Review 117:The doors close at 10pm so if you're arriving later you should call, and know the backup plan that the hotel uses (they leave a key at the hotel across the plaza).

Review 118:This is one of several Norwegian hostels that also provide good hotel-level accommodation (private room with bath and breakfast). Very helpful staff. Located in the heart of town in the old railway station.
