Reviews for Hotel Imperial

Review 1:Two beds, one poor coarse blanket. It really wasn't a good bed. Yes; the hotel was old as others have complained about but this didn't bother me even slightly. What bothered me was the lack of attempt to keep it looking well by staff - to provide a modern feel, either with decent bedding or high quality customer service. There seemed to be no interest in providing anything more than bare bones, budget travel accommodation. If you need somewhere to stay, and it's last minute, and a private room and a free (though minimal) breakfast are important to you and you don't care about above and beyond customer service, then this is definitely the place for you. I'll actually probably be back next time I'm in Aveiro. Because these are things I occasionally look for, especially when I'm traveling spontaneously.

Review 2:This has a fantastic location. I booked it because I decided to stay in Aveiro and extra couple of nights and had nowhere to stay. This place was best priced private room with breakfast I could find at short notice as my BnB had been booked up for these days.

Review 3:It was possible to hear people on the outside on a thursday night, which is a busy night for clubbing. It was quite hard to fall asleep. There's also a horrible stench every night because of the river. It can't be felt on the inside, but on the outside is very annoying. There wasn't a plug near the bed, making it hard to take the laptop to bed, or having the phone charge nearby.

Review 4:The staff was excelent, as was the breakfast. The breakfast room is on the very top of the building, giving it a nice view of the city. The hallways are very warm all across the hotel, and that might be a positive for many people. The car park is also a 2 minute walk away.

Review 5:A bit old and wearied, but nothing is broken.

Review 6:Very low priced, rooms are very clean, staff is friendly (though a bit slow). A mega-large and comfortable smoking room in the basin. Some other facilities (which I didn't visit though) were claimed to be top.

Review 7:Well we paid 59€ for one night so I didn't have many expectations, but still, it is not a 4* hotel. Smelly coridors and really old furniture and carpets. Shower had a a weak water pressure. Location is good. Breakfast was ok, especially in Portuguese terms. That's it basically.. Try to avoid if you can.

Review 8:The decoration and style of hotel are so old.

Review 9:The location is very nice. It is in the middle of Aveiro within walking distance to everything, with the exception of the beach which is out of the city center. The hotel is at much lower price compared to all other hotels in Aveiro (which are very over priced). It is good value for the money.

Review 10:There is nothing particularly wrong with the Imperial -just nothing special. Several much smaller places charging similar prices are much more comfortable

Review 11:Aveiro is a wonderful base for exploring - town and coast.

Review 12:Everything was ok. Bed comfy, bathroom good size. WiFi good.no tea coffee making facilities in room. Could all do with upgrade.

Review 13:Hotel was bit out dated bit adequate. Breakfast was great. Buffet style with good selection of hot and cold dishes.

Review 14:Staff at the reception during our check in was far from keeping best standards, breakfast was rather average comparing to other hotels & even some hostels we stayed at.

Review 15:Hotel has probably had its best times few decades ago, but everything is well maintained and room perfectly met our needs.

Review 16:The room was spacious, the balcony great and we found the hotel entrance easy to navigate with our two dogs. Parking was in an underground carpark just behind the hotel for 9 euros a day.

Review 17:lack of parking, photo indicated adjacent to waterside and this was not in fact the case. Five minutes waslk.

Review 18:spaciousness of room, comfort, breakfast

Review 19:- Hotel is outdated in need for being fixed up - Wifi is near useless in most rooms

Review 20:- Central location - Comfortable and clean - Value for money - Helpful staff

Review 21:WiFi is OK but sometimes cuts out momentarily - better by the computer stations if one has important web-based transactions to do.

Review 22:We stayed in a suite and found it clean, comfortable & spacious. We were able to film the sunrise on Winter Solstice from the upper terrace. Breakfast is served in an elegant large room with large windows. Eady walking to our favourite restaurants around the fish market.

Review 23:Some minor things could have been better, e.g., the TV in our room was an old thick small-screen TV. Otherwise, everything seemed quite good.

Review 24:Hotel Imperial is very well located, right in the center of Aveiro, next to the most beautiful places in Aveiro and many stores and other conveniences. It is cheaper than many good hotels because it is relatively old, but it is very well kept and comfortable (very clean, rooms kept warm with good AC, Wi-Fi). The staff was very professional, polite and prompt. I enjoyed staying there, would stay there again and recommend the hotel.

Review 25:WiFi was often cutting out; some rooms have much better reception than others. Bathroom seems run-down, shower mat old, etc.

Review 26:very convenient location so we usually stay here on our visits to Aveiro. Most staff are quite welcoming, one exception who always seems sour and too busy to attend. Inevitable music at breakfast seemed less obmoxious than previously, lower volume and 'cooler'. Breakfast is fine for the price.

Review 27:It needs possibly some restyling, the furniture comes from the '70s; there was some smell in the room, possibly due to this. It can remember the "Budapest hotel" of the film somehow; it is still charming :) Someone in the staff at the reception does not speak English fluently.

Review 28:The location is simply great, in the very centre, and with a wonderful view on the lagoon. All the hotel is very clean (room included), and it has much common space (ground, 5th and 6th floor), plus a terrace (5th floor). Wi-fi connection is ok.

Review 29:the dust from the carpets. If these guys rip the carpets out, not only would it look a little modern but the smell and dust would disappear.

Review 30:you cant beat location, really good access to the city centre

Review 31:Hello, stayed here for 2 nights and it was brilliant the staff the food and the location! Could not fault 1 thing! I would definately recommend this hotel and i will definately be staying here again x

Review 32:I made my booking about one, one and a half months in advance, however when we arrived, the receptionist, who wasn't friendly at all, couldn't find my booking. It seemed that they totally forget about my booking. When he finally found it somehow, after I gave him my passport and a printed copy of my booking, he wrote my name and address wrong on the bill. We went to the third floor to check out the room, it was in the dark, on the end of a corridor, which seemed like you are in the basement. The room was tiny and with two single beds, however I asked for a double bed. I went back to the reception and told him what my problem was. He was telling me that no other room left, however he finally found me another room, in the same unpleasant corridor. The room was even tinier, with a smelly bathroom, the view was into a back yard if you could call it that... The internet was hardly working during our whole stay. The night before we left we asked for a little breakfast as we left earlier, however we didn't get any thanks to a misunderstanding?! . When we wanted to check out no receptionist was at the font desk, we needed to go around shouting. I planned this stay as a romantic weekend, however the constant problems with the hotel kinda ruined it.

Review 33:The breakfast was quite ok, the cleaning lady was also nice, the hotel is quite central

Review 34:- very noisy at night - ear plugs needed - 2km from train station - dragging suitcase along cobble stoned pavements was difficult! - staff had poor English - limited breakfast options

Review 35:- good location close to everything - clean reasonable sized rooms. - nice balcony - good price

Review 36:Noisy room (# 402) with air condition unit on the balcony, outside our door, blowing hot air. Uncomfortable bed.

Review 79:Friendly staff Good location Very good breakfast

Review 80:Nice bed, large bright room, nice bathroom, well heated, good buffet breakfast.

Review 81:There was a problem with the refregerator

Review 82:Excellent location, close to bus terminal, 5min walk far from the historical centre. Very helpful staff

Review 83:In my room, there was a extremely slow running water in the lavatory and in the shower which makes bathing a irritating activity.

Review 94:Very near the center town.

Review 95:Location. Needs refurb

Review 96:no free parking; wish staff could speak english better; breakfast is not so good

Review 97:nice view; balcony; spacious room and bathroom

Review 98:clean room, some with balconies, excellent buffet breakfast, wi-fi

Review 99:Too much noise up to too late. Bad access; no parking facilities.

Review 100:Location

Review 101:The bathroom was fine except there was no water pressure in the shower. It was not much more than a dribble.

Review 102:The hotel had a great location although it was a bit noisy at night. The room was dated but comfortable. There was enough light to read. Overall, it was an excellent value.

Review 103:old-fashioned furniture (was not sure if the chair in the room will survive my stay) the breakfest offer was very basic some other guests were complaining about wifi

Review 104:location in the centre staff was rather helpful - they were OK to prepare for us simple takeway breakfest (check out late at night) wifi was working in the room

Review 105:Our stay at this hotel was disappointing the roof top bar which was oneof the reason I chose this hotel did not exist when I asked a staffmember the reply was-- its building--- our room was directly under thethe building site and the works lift ran up the outside of our bedroomwall the noise was very invasive. Especially early in the morning !!!! Ihave a photo of should you require oops sorry disregard this is thewrong hotel

Review 106:Great location, everything is within walking distance. Friendly, helpful staff, spacious rooms, exceptional breakfast was included. We didn't want to leave the hotel.

Review 107:The noise of the rooms (we can hear the voices of the other guests/ maybe the walls of this hotel are not good, are so thin that we can hear everything from the other rooms)

Review 108:Location Free wi-fi Value for money Staff

Review 109:Perfect location with easy parking. Very good value for money. Large room and very good breakfast. We definitely recommend this hotel. Also excellent wifi connection.

Review 110:This hotel mustn't have changed since it was built in the 60s. It's a pretty dreary place with a smell of smoke in the common areas.

Review 111:Nice hotel with a big hotel feel. Breakfast was nice.

Review 112:Distance to parking is a nuisance especially if it rains! Orange juice at breakfast is undrinkable!

Review 113:Hotel is well placed, close to centre of Aveiro with its canals and old streets.

Review 114:Really old decoration, it feels like you are back into the 1970's all the time. The wifi didn't work very well in the bedroom but works just fine in the common areas.

Review 115:Really good hotel specially by its location. You are literally 2 minutes walking from Aveiro's city centre and for every other attraction around. Very friendly and professional staff always ready to answer for any queries. Also they offer a good breakfast with hot and cold dishes and fresh fruits

Review 116:The room was very good, but the noise from the rain on the fan cover kept us awake, security was not good the roller blind could not be used as the pull cord was missing and the room safe was not bolted down.

Review 117:Very central easy to find your way around, excellent and many restaurant.

Review 118:The water in the shower was tepid and had very little pressure. Not a lot of English spoken by the reception staff.

Review 119:It was close to the centre of everything. For the price it was good and clean.

Review 120:The beds were too hard & not very comfortable.

Review 121:You cannot beat the location. That was the best. Just across from a wonderful Museum & near the boats. We will stay there again.

Review 122:As I observed this is a hotel for retired people who visit it in bigcoaches brought by their travel agencies. -≫ Smell in the room wasawful, just smelling old even if it seemed to be quite clean. -≫The equipment was outdated. -≫ In my room two different lamps hadno bulbs. -≫ As one person mentioned it already, the"hits" played in the hotel are horrible. -≫ The parkingis not free of charge.

Review 123:-≫ wifi was ok, -> helpful lady from the staff

Review 124:Sometimes there is piped-in (usually poor-quality US pop) music at breakfast - like many hotels - and iit really detracts from the old-world and friendly feel.

Review 125:We often stay at this hotel when in Aveiro and enjoy the hospitality, the very central location (walk to town or uniiversity), the views from the roooms, the dinners in the restaurant....

Review 126:There were a lot of plump Americans staying at the same time as us. Thebar was closed.

Review 127:The 2 single beds (instead of double which we asked for) were big enoughfor 2 fat people. There was off street parking although we were toldthere wasn'T. The music from party upstairs was fab n loud.

Review 128:The cleaning staff entered the girls room before they were up. The breakfast was very minimalistic with no vegetables, like tomatoes etc. Cheese, ham, two types of jam, stirred eggs no bacon.

Review 129:Short walking distance to everything. Cleen rooms.
