Reviews for First Hotel Breiseth
Review 1:I was a little disappointed by the quality of our room. The wallpaper was coming off on some corners and it seemed overall a bit run down. Considering that I paid almost the same price for a Raddison Hotel st the Oslo airport, I had expected a little more.
Review 2:Staff is very friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet was wonderful. The location is great as well. Right next to the train station and a 5 minute walk to downtown.
Review 3:Sauna was advertised but wasn't working! Did need updating with fixtures and fittings.
Review 4:Only 5 mins walk to train station. Wifi was awesome! And staff were great.
Review 5:Lovely old hotel. Not a typical chain, lots of character. Bathrooms modern, modern TV, but retaining the old charm. VERY accomodating staff. Went out of their way to make us comfortable. Breakfast very good.
Review 6:The hotel should be pro-active with the local authorities to preventloud motorcycle traffic and shouting loud drunks outside the hotel inthe middle of the night. The receptionist said they have security andshe did not know why the night desk clerk did not call them. And, , thishotel could really benefit from a good deep cleaning! People withmobility problems should be aware there are a fair number of steps inone part of the hotel.
Review 7:Our room was spacious. It had two windows that opened so we got abreeze. The hotel was very well situated in the town.
Review 8:Our room was at the ground floor and the window gave on the street.
Review 9:The bed was simply great! Staff was friendly, good and rich breakfast. 5 minutes to city centre and nearby the station but not noisy.
Review 10:The room was right next to the train station. The noise was constant and the curtain wouldnt even block out the light. The beds were not comfortable at all. We had to download a "white noise" app to make it through the night.
Review 11:The Breakfast
Review 12:Bed a bit soft to my taste A tad on the expensive side
Review 13:Breakfast area with a family friendly corner, with toys, baby chairs. Also: baby dishes and cutlery.
Review 14:This time we had a very small depressing room overlooking the train station & because the weather was warm we had to have the door open so were kept awake with the sound of trains.
Review 15:Staff are excellent & the breakfast beautiful.
Review 16:I wanted the cheapest place for a family of 4 including older children and booking.com directed me to this hotel, however the message I left when booking didn't seem to reach the hotel and we ended up with a very small room with 3 single beds.
Review 17:I reserved the room via booking.com. I have not received information during the booking process that it costs extra money per child if you have more than one child.
Review 18:Bedroom and bathroom décor a little tired but very clean and comfortable
Review 19:Close to railway station, shops and restaurants. Staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast had a very good choice and food was good. Free coffee available in the lounge and free waffles in the afternoon. Wifi was quick and easy to connect. A warm and welcoming hotel with interesting original artwork giving it character and individuality. Will stay again.
Review 20:Some nighttime noise from the train station square.
Review 21:Staff were very friendly and helpful. Very convenient to the train station. Great breakfasts. Interesting artworks in the hotel.
Review 22:The position is perfect: less than 100 mts from train station. The superior room is large, charming with its old-style furniture and has a balcony. Honest breakfast with everything you need. Excellent cost-benefit.

Review 56:It rained the whole time I was there - but I can't fault the hotel for that!!
Review 57:Great breakfast Nice room Right opposite Station Decent Wifi
Review 58:The price was hyped because of major event in Lillehammer, and didn't match the hotel standards.
Review 59:Breakfasts were awesome!
Review 60:No far to walk to restaurants. Free parking on site
Review 61:Fantastic Breakfast. Great proximity to train station. Able to walk anywhere in town.
Review 62:The breakfast was excellent, the room only fair. The room was without character and pretty spartan. The bath was quite large.
Review 63:I booked a single room , I expected a bigger bed, but in saying that I slept very well.
Review 64:location is 1st rate, book with confidence if this is your highest priority. Breakfast was excellent.
Review 65:We had an awkward situation with the hotel, before the vacation it self. a month before the vacation my wife had to overcome a serious sergery and after wards couldn't even take flights. We have asked the Hotel to postpone the vacation to a later date when my wife would recover, but they have bluntly refused. For this kind of net of hotels which is persumably supposed to be high class, i think they have acted completely the opposite way.
Review 66:Breakfast was very good, and the location close to the both the station and the main street in Lillehammer cannot be faulted. New (Feb 2014) free wi-fi system worked without a problem too.
Review 67:A little more attention to the the acessorries like coffee tabs, soap ect. is desired.
Review 68:A very cosy hotel with friendly staff. The superior rooms are spacious and arerecommendable.
Review 69:the room was extremely small and sparse. also, the hotel is not maintained well. there were large holes in the wall and mold/dirt on the windows. i do not recommend this hotel.
Review 70:location is central
Review 71:First Hotel Breiseth seemed a little bit shabby. Very narrow double bed. Breakfast ok, not more.
Review 72:We got a large room with sitting area. The young lady in the reception was very kind and serviceminded - the best with this hotel!!!
Review 73:sauna was way down in some basement corridor and locked. at that point i assumed it was cold too and didn't bother.
Review 74:location. old building charm. nice breakfast. great shower.
Review 75:The hotel was great for my needs. Good quality/price relationship. Good, cozy bedroom, well cleaned. .Free wireless.Excellent breakfast with much quality and variety.
Review 76:The rooms look very old and worn. The last renovation seems to date back to the Olympic games (1994). The room was quite big though and the bed was comfortable. The windows were leaky so one could hear all the noise from the street. Nevertheless Lillehammer is a quiet town so after 11 p.m. there is not much noise.
Review 77:All the staff I met was super friendly, also in advance of my stay the corespondance was friendly and quick. Breakfast is very good - there is a nice selection and good quality. The location close to the railway station is good aswell. Free of charge WIFI.
Review 78:The room was very poorly maintained--the wallpaper was stained, the 'couch' was used as an ad hoc covering for the radiator, and the furniture had missing drawers. The room was extremely expensive for the value--Lillehammer as a whole is an expensive city, and the hotel was by no means an exception.
Review 79:The breakfast buffet was nice and offered during a decent window of time.
Review 80:The purpose of our trip to Norway was to celebrate out 40th wedding anniversary and we arranged to stay at Lillehammer on the day of our anniversary. When we were in Bergen I had to check something on the booking.com. web site and saw that The First Hotel Breiseth was showing a considerably cheaper rate for the double room than we had booked. So we thought end of season etc., we also noticed that the superior double room was cheaper than the one we had booked, so we decided that as it was our anniversary we would change the room for the better one as it promised:- slippers and bath robes, mini bar, tea/coffee maker, espresso machine, large room some with balcony, television. What we got was a shabby room that had clearly seen better days and doubled up as a meeting room. a double pull down bed with no counter pane, the drink making facilities consisted of a kettle, a few tea bags and coffee sachets, two mugs, and plastic spoons, a gap where the mini bar should have been. We had travelled a long way and had been looking forward to a nice room, somewhere to spend the rest of our anniversary and was so disappointed. No we didn't complain as that would have made us feel even worse and what could they do. The room was badly represented on the web site, which I would have to say is not our previous experience of it and is why we trusted what it said. Needless to say it spoiled our anniversary.
Review 81:The overall size of the room.
Review 82:The company the hotel hire for catering, on the other hand, need some help in understanding repect for hotel guest who have not paid to be kept awake- they need to learn to be as quiet as possible and repect that hotel guests do not want to be disturbed for a large portion of the night. The window in the superior room faced the parking area, and from 1.30 - 4 am a car from the catering company company was parked outside with doors wide open and radio turned up full. Put this together with all the glasses and bottles that crashed as they were literally thrown in and you have a sleepless night. The hotel window didn't close properly.
Review 83:The hotel was as expected and staff were friendly - and the superior room my parents had was spacious. The furnishings and decor are in need of an up-date,But the hotel, as said, was as shown in the photos. The location was great, walked straight out to train station, up to the pedestrian street etc.
Review 84:The hotel is over 100 years old and has character. The staff at the reception (Caroline) was very friendly and helpful. Excellent breakfast. They also pack your breakfast if you are unable to reach on time or have to leave early. The hotel definitely needs a makeover.
Review 85:Had room in the older part of the hotel, so it was worn... But noproblem, since we only were there to sleep, not live ;-)
Review 86:Excellent breakfast good value for money
Review 87:Rooms a little tired - although perfectly servicable. Bathroomsare spartan.
Review 88:Excellent buffet breakfast in pleasant modern dining room. Friendly andwelcoming staff. Free wifi. Superb location just round the corner fromthe railway station and a few yards from the main shopping street. Cheap-ish (for Norway).
Review 89:The room was outdated. It wasn't dirty, but things were old and worn. Two light bulbs were burned out.
Review 90:Our room was very large and spacious with lots of windows and a balcony. Breakfast was very good.
Review 91:My only complaint:there was a small coffee stain on the carpet.
Review 92:I stayed in a small and inexpensive single room which was very goodvalue for money. It is a small hotel in an excellent location both forthe solo traveller and the family in Lillehammer. The staff are friendlyand answered all my questions in good English (it was my first stay inNorway and Norwegan is difficulty to learn for an English speaker). Ithas a charming 'old world' architecture and inside there are severalpaintings displayed in prominent positions. Breakfast was excellent withmany varied types of food on offer.
Review 93:having to carry luggage up steps to the room, only 5 or 6 but could be difficult for some.
Review 94:Very simple and basic facilities yet very clean and all that was necessary. Breakfast staff very friendly.
Review 95:Very drab room. Worst Ive had in 4 months travelling . No kettle or fridge. Many hotels do have them & it makes a difference. Breakfast understaffed

Review 103:The shower part of the bathroom vas very dirty on the floor/lover part of the vals - and the shower door. We did not risk to take a shower.
Review 104:The rooms are a bit outdated. It needs renovation.
Review 105:Location of the hotel. The personnel of the hotel is very friendly.
Review 106:Very expensive, but I guess that's Norway in general. Room very dark.
Review 107:Adeguate size of the room.
Review 108:no air conditioning for hot days
Review 109:nearly everything
Review 110:Friendly staff, quiet room, very good breakfast and the best coffee. Beautiful saloon with free coffee for guest
