Reviews for Aaronlee Retreat

Review 1:The room is cozy! Hoster provided a lot food for breakfast! The hotel located on the top of the mountain is very nice to have a forest view. Even during evening you can see the city light from far away. The hotel is good place for rest to embrace the nature. Will stay here again next time when coming to Tamborine Mountain!

Review 2:Parking area, turning circle a bit narrow, only a very minor criticism.

Review 3:we liked the well kept gardens, views. We also liked the alpaca which kept our grandchildren entertained when they visited. Pool very nice as well, a shade sail would be a great investment. Rooms were spacious and comfortable

Review 4:the wardrobe was not very big to accommodate our clothes due to extra bedding being stored this also smelt like dried wee. we left our clothes in the suit case, the water is not mains and is brought in by tanker which smelt of iron and stained our washing cloths.

Review 5:Views from the garden were amazing, great area you feel like you are on top of the world, Breakfast was included in the price which was in the fridge on arrival for the full duration of our stay we had a table top hotplate type of facility to cook and a microwave tea and coffee and milk. Bed was very comfortable.

Review 6:wish we could stayed longer

Review 7:We had an amazing time. The room we've got was huge! It is more like a house. It was clean, a 10 for comfort (the bed, the sofa.. etc) and the staff was very friendly. And the vieuw! wauw..

Review 8:Incredibly disappointed. No balcony, no soundproofing (heard everyconversation and footstep from above!), Only view was of a hidden lawnmower in the bedroom and a barbed wire fence and work ladder to the rear, No dvd /cd player/tea/ coffee maker as advertised and fireoff for the summer! 4 eggs, 1/4 loaf of bread and 2 slices of baconfor cook your own breakfast and $25 fine threatened for non washing upof the electric frypan. Shower head on pole over the bath. Theworld's smallest hairdryer, one pathetic sachet of shampoo.Unfriendly and unwelcoming list of don'ts and don'ts - goodnessthe list goes on! Very poor show all round and to be charged $195 intothe bargain - do yourself a favour and find some where else. Left a verybitter taste indeed!

Review 9:Nothing.

Review 10:I was a bit disappointed that we had to cook our own (supplied by the property) breakfast in our rooms. We only booked with breakfast as a treat for our 20th Anniversary, I didn't see myself cooking our breakfast as romantic we can do that at home.

Review 11:Great Location, very peaceful with excellent views from the grounds. Lots of space in our room.

Review 12:Hodpitality was above average. Rooms were stunning with the fireplace and spa bath topping it off. The view was out of this world. On cloud 9 in this property .. litrally!

Review 13:Shallow breakfast bowls...non practical. Stairs and longer walk to cart luggage.

Review 14:Its amazing views and peacefull setting. Liked the verandahs Spacious unit and surrounds. Loved the spa.

Review 15:all good!

Review 16:The view from our room was amazing overlooking Gold Coast and hinterland and with the added bonus of cook your own bacon/eggs in the morning. Ian was a great host. We will be back. Shiloh and Caely

Review 17:There was a funny smell in the bathroom which I believe was the water. The bathroom itself was very clean.

Review 18:Aaronlee Retreat was in a beautiful setting. Views to the coast were further down the yard which made you leave your room and explore the place a little deeper. Nothing was too much trouble for our host Ian. Thank you for a very pleasant stay.

Review 19:Wish we could have stayed longer!!!

Review 20:Amazing view! We stayed in a spa room and it was so spacious and well furnished. Super comfy couch, large spa and plenty of room for the portacot :D Loved everything about it! The perfect place to get ready for my brothers wedding. We have some brilliant photos of the groomsman and our family on the grounds. So many great backdrops!

Review 21:Kitchen a bit under-equipped. Property is getting a bit tired.

Review 22:Superb views. Very peaceful mlocation with lots of birds around. Excellent breakfast makings.

Review 23:No heating in the ba throom as it was quite chilly

Review 24:The position and seclusion away from traffic noise. A very peaceful place with the most stunning views.

Review 25:Extra pillows would be great.

Review 26:Loved the scenic views, location, tranquility, fireplace, spa bath , breakfast, Patrick the alpaca, Bonnie and Honey the ponies and the friendly owners.

Review 27:Picturesque location , very hospitable owners, huge rooms, comfortable beds, great facilities , gorgeous Shetland ponies. Stunning location , extremely relaxing.

Review 28:Walls were very thin - we could hear the neighbours quite clearly! Basin in the bathroom was ridiculously small and the shower dripped! Breakfast was provided even though we clearly indicated on two occasions we would not be needing it!

Review 29:Heater worked well, bed was comfortable. We did not get there until 8pm and left at 4.30am so it's a bit unfair to make too many judgements

Review 30:There was nothing we did not like.

Review 31:We liked everything about our stay - the location, the staff and our host who was very helpful and could not do more for us, the comfort of the rooms, the comfort of the beds, the convenient, yummy breakfasts, the self catering facilities. Absolute fabulous stay!

Review 32:The cooking facilities are very limited (suited to the breakfast provided), an electric frypan and a microwave-with no reasonable sized dish suitable for the microwave if you wanted to do something for another meal.

Review 33:Property was quiet, spacious and had magnificent views. It was clean, well furnished and comfortable. Some fittings are showing their age but are clean and well maintained. The breakfast provided for you to cook was good standard. Hostess was obliging.

Review 34:It was cold so it would have been good to have an electric blanket on the bed. No cereals for breakfast. Would have been nice not to have to cook our own and clean up afterwards.

Review 35:The location, great views,The spa. The gas fire in the roomy loungeroom. Patrick the pet Alpaca. The birds. The friendly owner who gave us a good tip for where to go for dinner. Absolutely magic location with terrific views. Comfy bed. Would have liked to stay longer.

Review 36:Washing my dishes after breakfast to save the charge if done by the retreat. Would like to have had juice and honey/apricot jam included. Concerned over the toaster - I actually burned my fingers on the outside as I pressed a button! I'm sure that can't be good?

Review 37:The solitude, privacy, views, location in relation to other places on the Mountain

Review 38:Insufficient signage to location. Bedroom was a bit dusty

Review 39:Awesome views. Patrick the alpaca was a highlight. Very friendly staff. Upgraded to a nice and cozy room.

Review 40:Bed collapsed, no means to contact manager, we were told my husband wasa 'big man' and this was the 'ok' reason given. Electricblanket only worked on one side of bed!! We were given no recompense forthe inconvenience of little sleep between the single bed and lounge forthe night and no apology given just to be expected

Review 41:No extra blankets, bar frig froze everything, no room service, no inroom phone and breakfast provided you cook you clean and if you do cleanand extra charge of $25 will be applied to your account!! My husband hashad back surgery and to have the bed collapse is a very poormaintainence of the property! We have travelled the world and never beentreated in such poor hospitality!

Review 42:I loved sitting on one of the seats provided on the grounds and just looking at the view and listening to the birds. Reading on the deck at night was also very relaxing.

Review 43:Breakfast? Some bacon and eggs in the fridge! No fruit, cereal - just "there is a frypan"! And by the way, "wash up the dishes or we will charge you $25 for cleaning"!

Review 44:The shower over a very slippery bath with no grip rails was dangerous, difficult for those with a mobility problem The breakfast was a loaf of bread, lots of bacon and a dozen eggs in fridge!

Review 45:Wonderful view

Review 46:none

Review 47:Fantastic position with great views from a lovely garden. Beautiful rain forest walks nearby as well as micro breweries and beer gardens in which to relax and enjoy the day.

Review 48:The beds were terrible and dipped in the middle. Were also a bit small. Decor seemed a bit tired and there was an annoying light on outside the room during the night which kept us awake.

Review 49:The location is beautiful with views all the way to the Gold Coast. Wonderful for the kids to play in the garden and feed the Shetland ponies.

Review 50:Nothing you would have to be hard to please.

Review 51:The way we where greeted when arriving, the spacious room and views. The quietness and serenity of the area and Patrick the alpaca in the front yard.

Review 52:It's not that I didn't like something. Just some possible improvements - would have liked a doona on bed to cuddle into in preference to electric blanket (the control of which for one bed as hidden under the mattress so were we able to use? Couldn't find close powerpoint anyway.) More pillows would be good for those wanting higher pillow for sleep. Breakfast was great - just a little more room for cooking and washing up would have been more comfortable. A small can of baked beans and tomato to go with the lovely bacon and eggs would have been perfect. More pillows

Review 53:The host was very friendly and extremely accommodating. Very pleasant surroundings and restful position for a break from city life. Loved the llama and ponies giving a morning greeting. Breakfast very good serving size of bacon, eggs, bread and spreads. So good we had for dinner and breakfast!!!!!

Review 54:Very hard bed and even harder pillows. The owner did change my pillow to a softer one when I mentioned this. He said the bedding was industry standard and I wouldn't get a better one at the Hilton. This is definitely not so as I stayed later at a Hilton. Also, breakfast is included but you have to cook it yourself and eat it in your room.

Review 55:Beautiful views and setting

Review 56:We didn't realise on booking that we would be charged an extra $25 if we didn't 'do our chores'; like staying in YMCA - taking our rubbish up to industrial bins etc. Ordinarily we would have washed our dishes; left the room tidy anyway but a bit odd to be threatened to do so when paying top rates.

Review 57:We enjoyed the tranquility and the views. The rooms were comfortable and spacious; and it was a nice surprise to have breakfast supplied.

Review 58:The Aaronlee is a rambling guest house set on a scenic block looking north to the mountains. The owner/manager is friendly and very helpful. The rooms are very large with excellent views. The bed was very comfortable and the furniture was lovely. If you want quiet and relaxed, this is the place for you. The kitchennette is very basic, if you plan to cook, plan around a frypan and microwave. The included breakfast was great, bacon, eggs and almost unlimited suplies of jam, tea and coffee. Bonus!

Review 59:The bed was HARD. I checked out a day early because I couldn't face another night in the bed. Heater didn't really heat the room and It was only the end of March! Extra blanket and dooner were musty but I had to use them anyway because I was so cold.

Review 60:Amazing view, whole place looks freshly painted and really nicely decorated. Really nice bacon and eggs, toast and Vegemite or marmalade provided for make-your-own in-room breakfast. Did not stint on breakfast ingredients. Would stay again except for the hard bed.

Review 61:I was surprised to find I had to cook my own breakfast. It would have been nice to be informed that was the case. Location could be difficult to find without GPS.

Review 62:Spacious accommodation with magnificent views to Surfers Paradise. Short drive through mountain scenery to various eateries and shops. BBQ facilities and pool.

Review 63:Stayed in the 3 bdrm cottage, lots of room and well equipped. Amazing views on the wrap around veranda. Woke up to clouds surrounding us the next morning and the beautiful sounds of nature. Very friendly, helpful staff.

Review 64:looked like cockroach droppings in the cutlery drawer, bed was a bit hard.

Review 65:Lovely quiet surroundings, awesome spa bath, very welcoming, well decorated, would go back for sure.

Review 66:Bedroom didn't have block out curtains, so awake with the birds and sunrise.

Review 67:Close enough to town but far enough way from it at same time to enjoy R & R, views and nature. Hosts very accommodating and helpful if you needed anything. Ponies and Patrick the alpaca very friendly.

Review 68:I would have liked some one to greet me, I had to find my own room and felt now 'welcome'

Review 69:The views, the location and size of the suite. Value for money with the inclusion of breakfast.

Review 70:the kitchen in the cottage requires an upgrade. the utensils were old and the kettle did not look clean on the inside. the bathroom requires a facelift too. there is a spa bath that requires filling up from a shower head as there were no taps to use like a normal bath has. pillows were lumpy. werent comfortable at all. the carpet felt sticky

Review 71:the view of the valleys and Surfers Paradise was spectacular. we loved the big open plan of the property. heaps of space for the kids to run around. The ponies and alpaca were an attraction. it was absolutely lovely to sit on the swing chair and just to gaze upon the beauty of the mountains.

Review 72:Plastic egg flip and tongs were damaged and of no use to cook bacon & eggs. There was no where to hang clothes in the bathroom, the refrigerator defrosted on us twice. The right hand cupboard door under the kitchen sink had a broken hinge. TV reception was not complete to all stations.

Review 73:The spaciousness of the accommodation.

Review 74:might be difficult to find. try to avoid getting there in dark time. Might be cold but there is a heater in the room.

Review 75:beautiful view and surroundings. value for money.

Review 76:REPLACE THE ELECTRIC FRYPAN WITH A TURBO OVEN OR BETTER DEVICE FOR COOKING. ALUMINIUM IS NO LONGER CONSIDERED A GOOD COOKING MEDIUM.

Review 77:HELPFUL STAFF AND QUIET LOCATION.

Review 78:Would have preferred not to be aware of guests above us though the floorboards were less than forgiving as they moved about.

Review 79:Fabulous location. Spacious accomodation lovely views. Good spot to get away and not at all crowded. Well maintained and a very engaging host. Breakfast supplies were superb.

Review 80:International Roast coffee sachee, probably the worst instant coffee available. Plunger coffee pot, but no coffee to use in it.

Review 81:The position,Gr8 views. Quiet location. The size of the unit, three separate rooms. The staff, very helpfull. The cleanlieness, spotless.

Review 82:Can't fault it

Review 83:Nice quiet rural location, peaceful, No noisy neighbours there were families with children staying there but we never heard them, room & facilities were excellent. Would highly recommend it, & it is what it says on the address A Retreat excellent.

Review 84:Nothing. The key to the cabin did not work.

Review 85:Everything was great. Perfect place for us to have our grandchildren for 2 nights as we had a wedding at Pethers.

Review 86:The bed was very hard and squeaky, soundproofing was limited and the kitchen /cooking facilities quite poor compared to what I was expecting based on photos.

Review 87:Location and scenery were calming and invited relaxation

Review 88:Outdated furnishings, well worn towels, lack of space for preparing a meal, no wifi in room, poor TV reception

Review 89:Large one bedroom unit, plenty of room to unpack, environmental setting, fresh, airy, provision of breakfast, car parking included

Review 90:The atmosphere was very welcoming and relaxing. Close to everything at Mt Tamborine. Host knew about the local attractions and restaurants. great advice.

Review 91:The owner was very friendly and made us feel at home straight away! The rooms were very big and nicely decorated. The whole location was decorated with attention to detail. The garden area is amazing. You have a great view across the mountains and the gold coast and the possibility to have your own BBQ.

Review 92:Only a little far (10 minute drive) from shop/café area - so a little remote. But great if you'd prefer to be remote.

Review 93:1. Mountain views 2. Nice comfortable room 3. Friendly staff

Review 94:More cabinet /shelf around the sink in the bathroom being a girl needs somewhere to place her makeup..

Review 95:I thought getting bacon and eggs and toast in the fridge ready to have forbreakfast the next day

Review 96:Bed was uncomfortable. Need updating. Cooking appliances could also do with updating. (Electric Frying Pan). Breakfast supplied, but not everyone is a bacon and egg person. Still have cereal and fruit eaters.

Review 97:Location was fantastic and great weather to go with it. Customer service was also great.

Review 98:felt very welcome as soon as we got there accomdation was very warm and welcoming will be going back for our first wedding anniversary as we just loved it. the owner was very helpful and friendly

Review 99:problems with the Wi-Fi (they are working on it)

Review 100:spacious verandah picturesque location handy yet away from main street comfortable & cosy dwelling visiting wildlife

Review 101:The only nit pick would be that the kitchenette could do with more bench space. Bit awkard cooking because theres no room, just a side sink.

Review 102:Soft hight thread count sheets on a quality mattress. The peace and quite. The gas log fire and spa bath. I liked the homely furniture and the big lounge suite the ambience was great. We needed to relax from the stresses of life and we came away feeling refreshed after staying two nights. It was private too, set away from neighboring guests.i fed the birds with bread soaked in water. There is an alpaca and two ponies there too. The bed is fantastic. Great nights sleep.

Review 103:This resort is tired and needs refurbishment and has many rules and is not a true B&B. The main bed mattress was terrible, towels were threadbare. Its location is at the far southern end of Mt Tambourine and would be difficult to find without a Navman. Whilst the gas fireplace was welcome, there was a distinct smell of gas with the pilot light burning at night when everything is closed up.

Review 104:Scenery from Aaronlee Resort was great.

Review 105:The shower which is over the spa bath was a bit difficult to access but this was a very minor issue.

Review 106:The moment we walked into the grounds we felt relaxed and peaceful. The views were amazing. The 3 bed cottage is well positioned for privacy which gave us a wonderful break and time out. Just wished we could have stayed for longer.

Review 107:perhaps a cordless kettle would be appropiate and maybe slightly bigger television for size of room.over all very good

Review 108:location cottage and layout plus huge deck

Review 109:Only tea and coffee on offer - would like to see Green tea as an option. Cooking on such a small bench/sink top was a challenge. Safety issues around managing frying pan, kettle and toaster on a double power point. Had to use the dining table as extra bench.

Review 110:The first impression of the building was wonderful. The warm welcome we received and the helpfulness of the manager in orientating us to the Mountain roads. When we walked towards the back of the building and saw the spectacular view of the valley leading towards the Gold Coast. Wow. We even went out in the evening to see the city in lights.

Review 111:Kitchen utensils are not adequate. There are no containers/jug for the microwave. no small knives for paring or similar. No cutting board. No tongs, No can/bottle opener. A review on these items are needed by management. Cockroaches in both rooms. These are only small things but do need attention. Top marks for everything else.

Review 112:Aaronlee Retreat is set in a beautiful quiet location on Mt Tamborine. It is just the place to go for total relaxation, a must visit for those who are wishing to spend quality time away from today's hustle and bustle. Swim, walk or just sit back and feel the peace whilst listening to bird song and nature at her best. Shops and cafes are just a short drive away.

Review 113:Limited kitchenette bench space Poor lighting ( even for reading.) Could have at least one bright light closest to the sink & food preparation area.

Review 114:Good value Good breakfast packs Roomy one bedroom apartment Gas fire

Review 115:Water in shower recess backed up before draining, needs attention. Pelmet on bathroom window needs washing. Aircon is very noisy, I would not be able to sleep if I left it on at night. A hook/rail on the back of the bathroom door would be helpful. Tetly tea bags are pretty ordinary. bushels or English breakfast better.

Review 116:Clean room, quiet location, no traffic noise, lovely views & grounds, helpful host. We left some items, & were able to pick them up a couple of days later.

Review 117:In order to have a hot spa bath we had to boil the kettle, otherwise the water went cold as it filled.

Review 118:Room had a spa bath and great views , from a private deck, across the mountains. The bed and sofa were nice and comfortable. The service from the owners was superb and made us feel really welcome, even when we misplaced our room key and had to wake her up to get another......

Review 119:Loved the location in the Tamborine mountains. The rooms were roomy ,homely ,clean and everything we needed. Included was plenty of food for our breakfast which we enjoyed cooking on the barbecue. Fabulous place. Wished we had more time to spend there.

Review 120:Windows and sliding doors need cleaning / de-cobwebbing but everything clean

Review 121:Settings. Furnishings. Provisions and kitchen equipment. Spaciousness of rooms.

Review 122:There is nothing to not like about the retreat but visitors who smoke could be encouraged to be considerate of other guests

Review 123:The peace and tranquillity as well as the comfort of the cottage. The views alone were worth going for and the feeling of being a million miles from civilization while being within easy reach of everything is priceless.

Review 124:Close proximity to Canungra Comfortable and spacious rooms Lovely staff, don't remember the gentleman's name who runs the place but he was very nice! The views!

Review 125:Loved the sweeping property with gorgeous views from all sides and adorable animals around the place. Host was friendly and helpful. Large sized room with good facilities.

Review 126:When it says "breakfast included" you don't expect to be shown some bacon and eggs in the fridge and where the frypan in the cupboard is kept. And don't forget to wash up after you cook your own breakfast or pay a $20 fine.

Review 127:spa bath

Review 128:We had to cook our own breakfast. Which was fine but was not mentioned on the website. We expected cooked breackfast to be included.

Review 129:Value for money. Location. View. Friendly staff. Room was clean and tidy. Would come back there for sure.

Review 130:Ian was very friendly and provided easy and helpful information about the area with great recommendations for places to eat and visit

Review 131:Only booking a night

Review 132:Friendly staff

Review 133:Location was peaceful and secluded. Able to do as little or as much as you wanted. Handy to sights, shopping, fine foods and wines.

Review 134:Location is excellent. Friendly unobtrusive staff. Well supplied and furnished unit.
