Reviews for Birkebeineren Hotel & Apartments
Review 1:Not much really.
Review 2:Very comfortable and specious apartment for the entire family. The unit is well equipped with all one needs (we even had double toilet/bathroom). Plus it features a nice view of the surrounding which center is walking distance away and the Olympic ski jump site above the facility.
Review 3:Breakfast food was somewhat boring. We would have liked more options in their "store".
Review 4:Nice, private unit...clean but nothing special. Exciting that it was the site of the Olympics and the location that housed the athletes! Liked having a refrigerator.
Review 5:there was strange smell in the apartment, which did not disappear even after ventilating. Wi-Fi was useless.
Review 6:Very good location near to the town and the ski jump area.
Review 7:Wifi very unstable and slow when it was working.
Review 8:Comfortable 3 bedroom apartment. The two bathrooms were great and having sheets and towels was appreciated. The kitchen was reasonably well equipped.
Review 9:Advertised free wifi in all areas including rooms. Wifi worked fine in the restaurant but not in our room. Noisy refrigerator in the room - but we unplugged it.
Review 10:Fabulous breakfast.
Review 11:I really liked the service attitude of the personnel. The hotel has a good sauna. Rooms are spacey. If there is a group who have ordered dinner, others may join. They provide safe parking for motorbike.
Review 12:Staying only one night.
Review 13:Not in the centre of town as right beside the Olympic Village , but great for us as we had a car. We found the appartment clean, spacious and great value. We had a living room with dining area separated with a curtain from the bedroom which had a the en-suite shower room and a great area for bags etc. The beds were comfortable and the room was quiet and warm. Staff were great and the girl on Check in gave us great advice to get into town. We walked into town and it is a good walk down hill, but you have to come back up, but weather was ok so we didn't mind. We also had Wi-fi logon problems, but easily sorted and no further problems. There is a shop at reception, large lounge area and free coffee machine. Although you do get a kettle in the room. Lots of information about the area too. Breakfast was plentiful and great choice. This was not really a busy time and the dining area was quite empty , but they did not scrimp on the amount of food. We would stay again.
Review 14:There was no curtain at one window so light woke up us very early in the morning. Breakfast room very essential and separeted from the room so you must go outside to have breakfast.
Review 15:Wifi slow.
Review 16:We selected this site because of it's history. We were satisfied with everything about it. No, it is not a 4 or 5 star hotel. Know that it was designed for lodging of athletes. The breakfast was equal to that we experiences at our other lodging sites throughout Norway--good variety. Was located well for the Olympic experience.
Review 17:We will strongly recommend this place to people we know. We will choose this hotel next time we visit Lillehammer. Next time we will like to rent an apartment so we easily can cook and do our own food. With small children this is recommended instead of going out on different restaurants.
Review 18:rooms could do with a bit of an update as everything feels a bit utilitarian(I'm guessing it was used as part of the athletes village during the Olympics) Towels a bit worn and pillows slighlty lumpy. Centre is a short drive away,no where to eat nearby.
Review 19:Breakfast was excellent-great choice. Room "upgrade" was to a small suite with sofa bed, dining table etc.with kettle and fridge. Bedding was very clean Coffee etc available in communal lounge. For a 1 night stay an excellent good value choice but dont expect 5*
Review 20:location
Review 21:WiFi could be faster, especially if you travel with kids :-)
Review 22:Special atmosphere of the former olympic village. Great if you travel with kids.
Review 23:We asked for gluten-free bread in advance and at breakfast but did not receive this for my son.
Review 24:The family rooms are good.
Review 25:Location, views
Review 26:Location , location and location. Very kind staff.
Review 27:Everything
Review 28:wifii a little bit difficult

Review 30:*WiFi connection *Cleanliness standard well below my expectation in relation to the cost value.
Review 31:*Location *Late check-out option
Review 32:Very good breakfast, friendly staff, nice green and quite area, clean room
Review 33:What was advertised as a family room for two adults and two kids turned out to be a cottage for at least 6 persons with three bedrooms and two bathrooms. The cottage was self-service, e.g. they didn't even have soap in bathrooms. All the kitchen equipment was very old, coffeemaker didn't want to boil water, and there was no kettle whatsoever. The rooms were hardly ever renovated since 1994 Olympic Games. All-in-all, very bad value for money for a family of four who were looking for one night at a hotel.
Review 34:I don't know if the spots on the bed linen were dirt or just spots you can't remove. I would have liked that it was all white...
Review 35:Big room and very quiet. Good location not far from the center of Lillehammer. Nice breakfast with a lot of choice.
Review 36:Smelling shower curtain in 1 bathroom. Slatted frame in double bed was moving. Poor isolation against impact noise (you can hear every move from the apartments near by or above).
Review 37:Appartement was large and all stuff for the kitchen was there.
Review 38:Kitchen was fully equipped. Accommodations were clean and verycomfortable, for a family of four, the price is without comparison forlodging in Norway. A great value!!!
Review 39:Great location, but not central so a bit of a walk from the railway station. Not a problem for most, but would be a taxi ride for older individuals or those with lots of luggage.
Review 40:Great location and very good value
Review 41:Some noise from the doors (we had the room closest to the entrance).
Review 42:Very nice breakfast buffet for the kids. Spacious rooms. Nice location and surroundings. Lots of parking space!
Review 43:My husband and I traveled through Norway in July 2012. The location of the Birkebeineren was very good. We walked to town for dinner. The staff was helpful and the buffet breakfast was very good. Our room was comfortable. We recommend this hotel. Mississauga (near Toronto), Canada
Review 44:This was our second stay at Birkebeiner. The play area for the kids isnice for burning off energy. Very extensive breakfast buffet, with itsown kids section with fun food for kids, like fruit chunks on skewers.very clean; you could eat off the floors in your room.
Review 45:No dinner restaurant, but town within walking distance or veryeasy drive
Review 46:Nice size room, easy parking, next to Olympic facilities, clean, goodbreakfast, within easy walking distance to center of town. Not a luxuryplace, but nice accommodations. Generous parking space.
Review 47:We stayed in a family room. It was perfect for our family of 4. The roomwas a nice size to fit us all. The 2 tv's, separate bedroom for usparents and the fridge were excellent additions. Our room includedbreakfast and there were plenty of choices for each of us. We reallyenjoyed our stay there. Thanks!
Review 48:The noise from neighboring apartment is esily heard (and there was a lotof during our stay). Poor tv facilities, the only german channel had badsignal quality.
Review 49:Clean and spacious apartments, good location close to the olypic park.Only 15-20 min by foot to the town centre.
Review 50:Small tv screen.
Review 51:Spacious room. Convenient location. Excellent breakfast. Friendly owner.
Review 52:Late check-out. Free upgrade. Big nice room.
