Reviews for El Rey Inn & Suites

Review 1:Elevator did not work when we were leaving. We had to carry our bags down stairs.

Review 2:Staff helped telling us what we might want to see that evening. Breakfast was good. room was quiet and clean.

Review 3:all good

Review 4:I liked that this was a real motel like the original idea of a motel. You can park right by the door to your room. Liked the large room, the comfort of the beds, and the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff.

Review 5:Our room was spacious, tastefully decorated, and very clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They recommended a great place for dinner, the Centro and we were very happy with our meal. I would definitely recommend this hotel to others.

Review 6:This was an excellent place for a "budget" motel. The front desk attendant was super. His restaurant recommendation was spot on. I would stay here again.

Review 7:The only problem was the cleaning staff. Since we were there for 5 days, we used the eco suggestions gladly but we had to ask for wash clothes and hand towels every time, even when we left them on the floor. Garbage was also never checked unless we asked. We are pretty easy to take care of and would have appreciated basic daily inquiries about what we needed. Basically, no one asked or knocked except when the bed was changed on day 3.

Review 8:What we liked best was the space and quality of our room and the short walk to the USF theaters, stores, and restaurants.

Review 9:I enjoyed the pool but being older like to sit in a hot tub which was not available.

Review 10:The room we stayed in had a King bed with a sofa sleeper. The room was large, clean and recently remodeled.

Review 11:The breakfast area needs to expand or get a better variety of choices. It seemed that they could not keep up with the amount of people who came in to eat.

Review 12:Loved the closeness to the SUU facilities and local businesses.

Review 13:Breakfast.I was expecting a little more like cooked eggs, sausages ect.... We're kinda spoiled sorry.

Review 14:Liked the welcome from staff. Great greetings.

Review 15:The heater controls were not working correctly. Water pressure is a little low.

Review 16:It is an older property but well taken care of and looked to be recently renovated. The room was very clean. The room with queens is large enough for a family of five short stay.

Review 17:The wifi access was poor in the rooms but done in the breakfast area. Not keen on the square pillows on the bed but I guess that's personal preference.

Review 18:The staff at this hotel are very friendly, knowledgable and friendly. They ran out of eggs close to breakfast being over and Enoch went to the shop to buy more. All the staff here appear to go above and beyond there normal duties. The hotel room we had was large and very clean. Booking.com hadn't sent through our reservation to the hotel so they did not know we were coming but Emily sorted everything out for us and even upgraded us! Again another example of going above and beyond! Would definitely recommend this hotel.

Review 19:Not a thing!

Review 20:The staff was so friendly even in the midst of a crowd of tired travelers! The room was fantastic and extremely pet friendly for my pooped traveling beagle. I would stay again anytime, highly recommend for anyone!

Review 21:No serious complaints. In-room fridge could have been a little quieter, but I addressed my concern with staff upon departure, and they assured me it would be looked at. They know they cater to hikers & outdoor enthusiasts who need a good night's sleep, and I'm sure it was resolved quickly.

Review 22:Room had a pillowtop bed, which was a treat to come back to after a day of hiking (Zion, Bryce Canyon, and Cedar Breaks are all about an hour away). Everything in the room (TV, lights, shower, toilet) worked the way it was supposed to. All staff I spoke with were very friendly and seemed happy to be there and committed to their jobs. Price was unbeatable for the experience.

Review 23:Everything was great!

Review 24:The room was very clean and very comfortable. The breakfast was very adequate. We really enjoyed our stay there and plan to stay again in the future.

Review 25:This facility is old and not worth the money. There are better options available. Breakfast was limited. Elevator did not work. Needed more staff. One person handled front desk and breakfast. Was overwhelmed.

Review 26:Clean and good beds. Located in the center of town if that is an advantage. Pool was spatklingly clean.

Review 27:There was construction going on, so getting in and out was tough not to mention the noise. After a long day of driving and trying to rest the crew were loud. Since they are going through remodeling pay close attention to your room there might be some things not working properly.

Review 28:I like the location being within walking distance or very short drive and the room we had was large great for a family traveling to together. The staff are friendly and go out of their way to help you.

Review 29:Our rooms were a bit skew, you could see that the furnitures and floors were leaning towards the end of the room. I'm not sure if that was safe, so I avoided going to the area where the room inclined down. The thermostat didn't work at all, the rooms were extremely hot (32 Celsius degrees) which woke us up in the middle of the night gasping for fresh air. We couldn't manage to cool down the room with the thermostat so in the end we had to open our doors to let the cool wind of outside cool down the area, this was a very unpleasant experience as my husband had to stay awake watching the door while the cold wind of 3 Celsius degrees cooked down the room... That kept us awake for nearly 1,5 hour, we were really exhaus in the morning..,

Review 30:The hotel we good, good location, clean beds and clean bathroom. Staff was really helpful.

Review 31:Our toilet was clogged when we got to the room. The front desk brought us a plunger per our phone call to them. My husband was able to fix the toilet quickly.

Review 32:We loved the remodeled decor, very pleasant colors...relaxing....good beds, nice tile shower with glass door. Everything was just fine. We liked the extra electrical plugs in the lamps for our cell phones and computers. The breakfast was sufficient.

Review 33:Just spend the previous night in the Super 7 next door. What a dump. This was 30$ more expensive but what a difference. Money well spend. Excellent breakfast. No complaints at all

Review 34:That it was no microvawe and refrigerator as it was said in the description of the room.

Review 35:I liked the friendly family atmosphere. Cosy clean room with good beds.

Review 36:Especially appreciated breakfast provided at Lumberjack's next door. I wish more motels would provide breakfasts in restaurants. Place was clean, has some nice artwork in the room. Easy access to highway

Review 37:When we arrived my son noticed that there was toilet paper in the toilet that had not been flushed. There was old food left in the fridge and the fridge was dirty.Room was very dusty especially the floor lamp.Remote was not working well.Shower gel dispenser in the bathroom was empty. This was all a shame because the room really was nice but it did influence our stay negatively. I would stay here again but I would check the room carefully before moving my suitcases in.

Review 38:Room was large and had recently been remodeled. Pillow top beds and bedding were great. We had some issues with the general housekeeping of the room and notified staff who immediately offered to send housekeeping up to finish cleaning the room or to change our room and that was appreciated.

Review 39:Toilet was broken, would flush but kept running. Older part of BW - redoing the roof/eaves.

Review 40:Friendly staff, breakfast was excellent. Close to where I was intending to go the next day.

Review 41:The drive to the door situation created some noisy situations with kids at night, but not bad. Without an indoor hallway, I felt somewhat exposed to the world. Their exterior renovations did not inspire confidence when I pulled up to the room.

Review 42:The rooms were very clean, and the wifi worked very well. The free breakfast was nice.

Review 43:I wish the hot tub was available. Also the A/C seemed to be stuck on 80 in my room.

Review 44:I have been staying at this hotel for the last 20 years, it is always a pleasent experiance.

Review 45:There was a spider and earwig in the bathroom. The accommodations were clean, but dated.

Review 46:Very convent location. It was within walking distance to restaurants, shopping, and a city park.

Review 47:The convenience of the El Rey was perfect for the purpose of our visit to Cedar City. Everyone was very friendly and helpful.

Review 48:Huge suite, it's basically an appartment

Review 49:THE SHOWER HEAD

Review 50:Close to university and restaurants. Great price. Nicely remodeled.

Review 51:Very expensive for a motel room

Review 52:Good location

Review 53:Breakfast area was a bit of a mess, airsystems were verrry loud and not really working

Review 54:Spacious quiet room, really friendly staff

Review 55:Great service and really nice rooms that have been recently refurbished so everything looks new. Great value.

Review 56:Need healthier breakfast choices

Review 57:I paid for a deluxe king room and what I got was a simple room no couch only 2 chairs bed look messy

Review 58:Not happy for what I paid

Review 59:A.C. fan was very noisey.

Review 60:Nice clean room...good arrangement.

Review 61:Great location within walking distance to eating, shopping, and the Shakespeare Festival.

Review 62:The food offered for breakfast

Review 63:The mattress was excellent

Review 64:I doubt I could find better quality hotel at this price

Review 65:Parking by room, breakfast

Review 66:Old hotel, bed smell in the room and not clean enough.

Review 76:Everything was First Rate, from the time we checked in to the time we checked out. To my view, everything was perfect.

Review 77:- very friendly staff - very quiet room far from noisy street - breakfast - 45 min drive to Zion NP

Review 78:breakfast facilities a bit cramped for number of guests.

Review 79:Location, accommodation, price, staff.

Review 80:Rather a pleasant demeanor and conversational while enduring a very rainy day

Review 81::)

Review 82:Convinient location, cheerfull staff. Very nice breakfast, best we had in this tier of hotels/motels

Review 83:Outdoor pool. Nice breakfast room and friendly staff.

Review 84:Toilet-commode too small

Review 85:Location

Review 86:They need more tables for breakfast.

Review 87:Great staff! Location wonderful for the Shakespeare Festival.

Review 88:The suite was large comfortable and remodeled. I reserve the same room each time I stay.

Review 89:Couldn't have been better everything was great

Review 90:Pool was too cold. Hot tub was out of commission. Carpet was dirty.

Review 91:I like the close proximity to Shakespeare Festival.

Review 92:Walking around the new concrete work at the entrance

Review 93:The location and the uniqueness of the remodeled room

Review 94:No jacuzzi

Review 95:My stay was comfortable. Staff friendly and helpful with questions asked!

Review 96:The staff at breakfast time were most courteous and accommodating.

Review 97:Breakfast room was too small and in the lobby.

Review 98:The hotel was fine.

Review 99:Building is being refurbished and sorely needs it. Tacky looking.

Review 100:Staff was excellent. Rooms were the cleanest I've seen in a long time. Breakfast was good.

Review 101:The entire facility was under remodel construction, as well as the city had the street torn up - it would have been nice to know ahead of time.

Review 102:location, price, cleanliness

Review 103:The facility was undergoing refurbishment and car park improvements therefore a bit contested and dusty

Review 104:Good clean breakfast area. Close to main interstate.rooms very clean

Review 105:The parking lot was being paved at that time and we weren't aware of it. We couldn't park in front of our room and walking through torn up road with small kids wasn't fun. The website said the pool would be open the first of May and it wasn't. It was full of dirt and hadn't been cleaned yet. That was the main part of us choosing that hotel, that we could all go swimming. Our kids were disappointed.

Review 106:The beds were very comfortable. It was kept clean.

Review 107:Building work (refurbishment) outside our door which we were not warned about and they started work at 6.30 in the morning. We had hoped to use this stay towards receiving the $50 voucher for our next stay but had not been told when booking that this would not be possible as we went via booking.com not direct to the hotel

Review 108:Good wifi connection. Lobby area good and use of hotel computer. Breakfast was good.

Review 109:Mattresses were very uncomfortable (seemed old). There was no soap, shampoo or lotion. The bathroom had liquid soap/shampoo dispensers in them but they were all empty. Parking lot is full of pot holes and in terrible shape.

Review 110:For the price it was a "fair" value. It was about what I expected for a budget hotel. Nothing that made me feel like it was an exceptional value though. Room was overall clean. It is obviously an older property that has been updated.

Review 111:Exceptional and helpful staff. Lots of good suggestions for things to see and do in the area. An old facility but being modernized and very comfortable.

Review 112:I asked about the resturant next door and was given all information except that it was closed on Sunday, even though we were saying we were to meet friends for lunch on Sunday.

Review 113:I was immediately asked if I wanted wi-fi, which I don't use. I was given fair information and answers to most questions.

Review 114:Too small for 5 people Sofa bed lousy mattress Bathroom cramped Loudnoises coming from refrigerator, heater, toilet, outside Too much lightcoming in from outside at night Toilet broke kept running Hot tubfrozen over Was advertised as a suite when in fact it was more like asmall studio with a small bedroom Wifi would not work Too far fromBrian head resorts

Review 115:Price

Review 116:I was placed in a room at the end of a wing totally unoccupied by otherguests. My room had a "bad" smell even though it was listed as"non-smoking" and the shower had dripped long enough to havecompletely soaked the terry bathmat draped over the lip of the showerstall. They did move me to the adjoining room--even further away fromeveryone. Awkward stay. I have stayed at El Rey many times in the past. The area that I was assigned to needs much more help in the renovationcategory. Sad! We had fond memories of this motel from an earlier timeand it is in a very convenient location. The breakfast was mediocre.

Review 117:Very noisy air conditioning (even when turned off, noise from neighbouring unit was enough to disturb sleep) ; building work close to our room.

Review 118:Large clean room reasonable omplimentary breakfast

Review 119:Breakfast area a bit cramped if too many people arrived at the same time. Undergoing some renovation

Review 120:The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was spacious and general atmosphere was confortable.

Review 121:Location is the main reason I always stay at the El Rey. My trip was for the Utah Shakespeare Festival and this Hotel is a quick 2 1/2 block walk to the Festival venues. Extremely convenient. We have been staying at the El Rey during the Festival for 22 years and have no plans on changing.

Review 122:the front entrance needs to be repaired so the cars don't bottom out

Review 123:the location the staff easy access, and very close to where my daughter lives and works

Review 124:Bouncy bed Dim lighting Lumpy pillows Tub didn't drain Noisy Window over door couldn't be darkened

Review 125:Very convenient location to Shakespeare Festival Housekeepers efficient Staff friendly and helpful
