Reviews for Waterfront Lodge
Review 1:There was nothing bad - the menu could be a little more focussed on the salad and veg - there was too much food. I like smaller portions and a bit more dessert variety
Review 2:Near the fishing port, good service, good food, good atmosphere, good coffee
Review 3:Located on busy Vuna Road so traffic was high during the day and evenings.
Review 4:the restaurant was an unexpected and lovely surprise with limited formal dining in Tonga.
Review 5:The only draw back of this hotel is that it is across the road from a night club that has no sound proofing. We were in a street front room and it was super noisy. Our adult children had a back room, but even they had trouble sleeping with the loud bass thumping. Nice spot, but even ear plugs didn't help.
Review 6:The staff were very friendly and helpful.
Review 7:nothing
Review 8:The staff was amazing and anticpated our needs when we arrived at 3AM in the morning- we were so impressed- and the place is charming, modern bathroom and good bed- food is also very good and breakfast included eggs int he morning- a great fine and a short walk into town
Review 9:That it was fully booked and we couldn't stay longer.
Review 10:Excellent hosts and staff. Very hospitable. Great Italian wine and very delicious breakfast. Thanks for the great time and the lovely chats.
Review 11:Somewhat loud aircon that when ran for long times can feel slightly mouldy. First day no breakfast menu shown and no yougurt or coffee/tea offered but service on second day was proper. Garden only in the front with interesting tropical plants but next door a neglected property.
Review 12:Very clean tastefully decorated room with old fashioned wooden shutters and private balcony. Young lady Tara, manning the front desk and helping all around was very helpful and always cheerful despite long working hours over Easter. Beautiful artwork in the rooms and restaurant. Conveniently located on the seafront road and near the ferry to other islands. Car rental arrangements with the hotel worked reliably.
Review 13:Tonga's IT's developing. There is no free internet anywhere in the kingdom. Providing free internet would have given them an edge on other hotels. TV reception was poor. A swimming pool would have been an asset.
Review 14:I stayed with my young grandsons. I felt they were safe and welcomed. The rooms were large and the balconies provided an additional space when needed.
Review 15:Smoke sometimes drifted onto my balcony from neighbouring veranda to or somewhere else! Ocean view not as good as expected......overall nice nut includes sme industrial quayside buildings.
Review 16:The family run nature of the hotel meant they were generally concerned about individuals both in reception and rest aspirant.
Review 17:Not a biggy but the water pressure in the shower was pretty weak.
Review 18:The continental breakfast was incredible! Staff were friendly and very accommodating. The boats to the other islands are pretty much straight across the road so that was helpful and there was a great bar/pub close by too.
Review 19:Stayed 3 nights.Room was excellent. Bed was comfortable. Location was great for the view but was a bit of a walk to town. Staff were amazing. Breakfast provided was great but could do with more fruit.
Review 20:Unreliable wifi. Not being told the restaurant was closed when I booked. That was very poor.
Review 21:It's a high standard hotel in terms of the room. Friendly staff. Great location for ferries and waterfront and the centre is 15 mins walk.
Review 22:Restaurant closed as chef was on holiday, but was advertised as being open until we arrived WiFi connectivity was awful when it worked (ours kept dropping out of network)
Review 23:Recently refurbished Friendly and helpful staff
Review 24:Noise level on weekday night due to music in bar next door made it very difficult to sleep. Also they offered to put out breakfast (which was included in the rate) to our door due to our early check out but was not delivered.
Review 25:Very friendly staff.
Review 26:The noise! The hotel is on a main road and our room faced the road. There was music from the bar until very late making it hard to sleep. We were told that was because it was a Friday night when the Tongan's party.
Review 27:The Waterfront Hotel was ideally located across from the ferry terminal, with an excellent bar only metres away. The food was good and the staff couldn't have been more helpful. The room was excellent with a view over the ferry wharf.
Review 28:Nothing. This is the best accommodation in Tonga
Review 29:I had the Lobster and Prawn pasta dish and it was one of the best dishes I have ever eaten. I am still trying to work out what spice they used, Maybe nutmeg. Gorgeous. Breakfast was great also
Review 30:On a Saturday night the church bells, barking dogs and roosters can be a little annoying. Often fires are lit for cooking in the surrounding area and they can be a little smelly, but nothing a closed window cannot shut out.
Review 31:The staff were excellent - friendly and welcoming. The breakfast is a good size and the fresh fruit very tasty. The room was large and comfortable and the bathroom clean and tidy. You are close to the island ferries and a twenty minute to the town centre. There are small stores close by and local stall holders selling local produce so you will not go hungry if you want a snack.
Review 32:We loved the staff - very friendly and helpful. The continental breakfast included in the room cost was really good. The immediate surroundings are peaceful. Enjoyed it thoroughly.
Review 33:took about 30 min to walk to the center of town. Cabs available
Review 34:Staff extremely friendly and helpful Large room Patio air conditioning supplied soap, shampoo, etc nice restaurant complimentary continental breakfast view of water and harbor area Property clean
Review 35:Too far from the airport for a quick overnight. Would love the Waterfront if staying a couple nights in the area.
Review 36:My husband and I loved our room with a comfortable bed and great pillows. The shower was great and back porch is nice (didn't stay long enough to really sit and enjoy). The restaurant was very good!
Review 37:Smoking neighbor Right on the busy street but across from the water Far from the airport so shorter stay is not possible
Review 38:Walking distance to the market and some restaurant Shuttle service to and from the airport Pleasant and very helpful staff Nice balcony with furniture
Review 39:We arrived in the late night and departed in early moorning so we had just the time for a shower and take few hour of sleep. It is so close to the airport so is nor reccomandable if you need just a place for the night
Review 40:The hotel is nice but the very strong point of them is the extraordinary kindness of his staff. I will not hesitate to return in the same hotel in case I will have a little bit more time to spend there
Review 41:A long walk into town. Hotel restaurant not open for lunch very limited selection nearby.
Review 42:Staff very friendly and helpful. Continental breakfast more than enough. Restaurant meals quite large too much as far as we were concerned. Good menu selection nice fresh ingredients. Lovely garden. Nice balconies over looking the harbour. A bit of maintenance needed on them.

Review 70:Staff very nice and helpful!
Review 71:A little noisy at times
Review 72:Location Staff Dining Room
Review 73:due to a function restaurant closed Saturday, closed Sundays too!
Review 74:Staff delightful
Review 75:Like most hotels in Polynesia, they think it's not worth serving Polynesian food. They are wrong!! Instead of cornflakes, over- sweetened fruit juice and white bread toast at breakfast, try something like fresh green coconut water and steamed breadfruit with coconut cream at breakfast. Dinner was OK (fish ws the best), but the octopus salad was mainly potato and the lobster bisque was nearly all tomato - very disappointing and bad value for money. Serve more traditional Polynesian food - and don't give me the excuse that 'Westerners won't eat it' - they will if they get the chance! Barking dogs at the back early in the morning could be controlled.
Review 76:The big rooms, timber floors, all very clean, friendly staff - the latter couldn't have been nicer. The beds were very comfy too.
Review 77:Loved the whole service from start to end
Review 78:Great food.great services.lovely people.awesome air con.firm but sift bed.felt like sleeping on a cloud.wifi worked better than most places.loved it
Review 79:Location and ocean view rooms overlook inter-island ferry pier plus market. Staff very friendly and helpful, airconditioned rooms comfortable and clean (front ocean view rooms give nice outlook). Complimentary continental breakfast excellent and included eggs the way you like them.
Review 80:theproximity of dogs next door- they barked incessantly
Review 81:The staff were amazing- helpful friednly courteous- they made our stay wonderful. Th elocation was great- out of the city but still close and close to the water and ferries.
Review 82:A little out of town, next to the harbour and fish market, which is interesting, but a little noisy early in the morning. Restaurant service was a little slow (we waited over an hour for our meal), but delicious when it arrived.
Review 83:Lovely hotel, open and spacious, very comfortable rooms, helpful and friendly staff, beautiful garden setting and restaurant.
Review 84:The shower had a leak that sprayed the rest of the bathroom.
Review 85:The staff were fantastic. Friendly helpful and professional. No request was too difficult.
Review 86:We had a most enjoyable time and were made very welcome by all of the staff at the hotel. The service was excellent at all times and the food was also excellent with lots of choice on the menu.
Review 87:Pretty costly for Tonga Thought they could have thrown in Breakfast and wifi for the price I paid
Review 88:Close to the action of town Comfortable The staff were excellent
Review 89:Really there were no negatives, the fish market opposite was a bit noisy at times and the road at the front of the hotel but mostly this was experienced as seeing the nuts and bolts of life for the locals on Tonga Tapu.
Review 90:The staff were extremely helpful and offered all kinds of assistance including tools to fix our hire bikes. The restaurant offered wonderful fresh fish dishes that were the best food we had in Tonga Tapu.
Review 91:Very noisy during the night due to its location. Internet is quite expensive.
Review 92:Very close to the ferries and markets.
Review 93:Food
Review 94:no
Review 95:Nice room with balcony, dinning room is great. Food is great!
Review 96:Air-conditioning in garden rooms is defective. Shower bracket fell off. Charged for half day when leaving.
