Review 1：limited electrical outlet in the rooms to charge electrical equipment, Old hostel so needs rennovation, No generator so in case of power failure you just have to wait for the power to be restored, They charge extra for providing towel. small rooms so become congested if all beds are occupied.

Review 11：It was incredibly dirty, full of mould, there was only a temporary light with a sensor that turns off every 2 min and cannot be reached from the shower so this was specially annoying. The bed was full of dead mosquitoes, the floor was filthy and in general it was all neglected. The staff was surly and not kind at all. I would never come back.

Review 26：The first night I had to sleep without bed linnen; though I arrived in the morning, by the time I got to to there were still no clean bed linnen at the reception. I asked them several times but it was only at the second day, in the afternoon, that I was able to get some sheets. The wifi only allows 10 people to be in it at the same time. There is room in the hostel for 60 people. You do the math. There are 32 really small lockers (15cmx15cmx30cm), for 60 people. So most of the time you have to fight for a locker or leave you're rooms in the open. The power often goes out in the island, and the hostel has a back-up generator but they don't use it for guests; so no warm showers, no light in the dorms/bathrooms, no airco or fan... This place really was one of the worst hostels i've been in.

Review 27：Upon arriving, I was greeted with tired faces, not motivated and what seemed like really bored staff who hated there job. Instead of recieving a simple hi how are you I just got 'yes' regardless of the money I pay for somewhere, I would atleast expect a hello, I got handed some sheets and told my dorm number, at no point was there any effort made to make me feel welcome or inform me of anything else. The wifi only worked for roughly 30 minutes throughout my whole stay, when asking the staff about it, there was no sense of urgency, help or understanding from anyone. It's a shame the staff are so rude and don't have manners because the wifi wouldn't be so much of an issue (you're not there to be on computers I get that) it's just that sometimes when you're travelling it's essential to have for booking other journeys, accomodation etc. I wouldn't go back or stay at any other if that's the standard el misti hostels are

Review 31：-First: I booked a room from Booking.com for 2 person in 5beds dormitory ,when i arrived they told me only 1bed is available in this room one of us have to sleep in another room (9beds dormitory) , isn't cool but ok -second: after a few days left the island I realised they charged me my credit card but i paid the totality in cash there!! !!! -third: i try to contact them since a month sent mails (5mail 2 differents adress)I'm still waiting an answer NOTHING! I called them but it s difficult to get the island actually impossible. Otherwise at the reception are not friendly rooms are not clean even the fan can be dangerous air conditionning is not really working more noisier than cold...there are enough hostel in the island (approximately same price)for choose another one that my opinion Now up to you and good luck! -j'ai reservé 2 lits dans une chambre de 5 par booking.com ,en arrivant un seul lit est dispo un de nous doit prendre un lit dans une autre chambre de 9 , apres reservations pour eviter ca justement c'est pas cool mais bon -ensuite quelques jours apres avoir quitté l ile je me rend compte qu'ils m'ont chargé ma carte de credit alors que jai payé la totalité sur place !! -ca fait un mois que j'essay de les contacter (5mails a 2 adresses differentes) aucune réponses!!! J'essay de les appeller mais c'est difficile de joindre l ile meme impossible enfait Sinon à la reception sont pas sympa les chambres pas très propres le ventillo dangereux la clim fait plus de bruit que refroidir la pièce Il y a assez d hotels sur l ile pour en prendre un autre dans les memes tranches de prix ,voici mon opinion maintenant a vous de voir Bonne chance.

Review 32：The weather and beaches!!! For find a thing about the hostel I'd say the breakfast was ok

Review 33：The dorms were very small and one of the top bunks is part covered by a wall, so it feels like a coffin. The beds are old and the ladders aren't that sturdy to get up to the top bunk. The wifi is also not great. The kitchen is small and not that clean.

Review 35：On 5 of 7 days there were problems with the water, so that, especially in the evening, there would be no running water. Also the toilet in my dorm was broken for 4 days. This caused a lot of discomfort.

Review 43：The only downside was the maintenance. There were lots of broken items: toilet seat, keyhole, painting coming out in the bathroom and mold on the bedroom walls. Those would not cost a fortune to be repaired, so I don't understand why they did not. Also, the staff need to be more aware if there are really availability or not. They told me by phone there was nothing available. However, I found availability after have checked a website...hmm :(

Review 44：The hostel has a nice and friendly atmosphere, where you can easily socialise with other guests. I found it clean and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast was nice. The location is excellent, very close to everything. I love the fact you can use their guitar and playing cards too. The events they organise are very interesting: pizza all you can eat and caipirinha happy hour. The staff is friendly.

Review 56：The hostel is situated in the main town in the island - it's close to restaurants and souvenir shops, but a bit far to nice beaches. Close to ferry. The hostel is very basic, but has everything that is needed. The building is old and seems a bit dirty, but they clean rooms everyday. Breakfast was very nice with bread, cheese, ham, eggs, cakes and fruit. The internet didn't work very well, disconnected very often, but it was possible to send emails.

Review 57：The rooms are all noisy and surround the communal area. I booked a private room and had to ask for a different one as the first they gave me the bathroom smelled so bad I would not have stayed. The second room was marginally better however there are some serious toilet flushing problems. The rooms generally all look like they haven't been spruced up for a decade - things falling apart/falling off/paint chipping. Unless you are seriously down and out on your money I wouldn't stay here - there are other newer better hostels on Ilha Grande.

We didn't arrive until 5pm and on checking in the staff simply stated our sheets would be ready in 1hour - you'd think this would be ready checking in so late in the afternoon... I dread to think how long some guests waited. We weren't even shown to our room or told where we cud leave our bags etc. when ordering a beer whilst waiting for our 'sheets' the staff simply replied yes, the fridge was behind the reception which left us slightly perplexed as to how to ascertain the beer when the receptionist continued to stare at her computer and aided us no further!!! Absolutely disgusting customer service and would never recommend this place to anyone!

Review 92：I stayed in a 9 bed female dorm which was unclean, the mattress was old and damp. The kitchen was dirty so had no desire to cook there.

Review 94：The staff were incredibly unhelpful and seemed to go out if their way to make things difficult. When we arrived the staff tried to sell us a private room even though we asked for a dorm (it was more than double the price), making out they had limited availability. When we were unsure of whether to book they suddenly had dorm availability. The room was cramped and the only toilet you can use is in the dorm, no communal toilet. We were also made to move rooms for our final night, and were only told this as we were leaving to go out for the day. A group if 8 of us asked about a boat trip deal and they said they couldn't possibly discount the price at all, so we went elsewhere and got a better deal, the staff then miraculously offered us a discounted price and said the other company were lying. The kitchen is shared with the staff so is busy with limited space around dinner time.
