Reviews for Hotel Le Cygne d'Argent
Review 1:The stuff were not friendly and welcoming except the gentleman who did our check in. Exteremly inpatient as the guest are bothering them or they shouldnt be there. At the breakfast, they were bahving in away as they wish you to get out of there with no attempt to meet your needs! I found it somehow insulting. My worst experience ever!
Review 2:A little difficult to negotiate the one way system, so we struggled to find it. Some of the decor slightly off-putting.
Review 3:Comfortable room. Excellent food, very popular restaurant, well used by locals. Secure garage in city centre location. Good easy to use wi-fi.
Review 4:Overpriced, toilet door didn't fit so wouldn't close properly or lock. Separate shower had no door. Decor dated and dingy, carpets threadbare, walls and ceiling in poor condition. Room noisy, no wifi or air-con, no extractor fan in toilet. Not up to 21st century building control standard.
Review 5:Large room, clean, comfortable bed
Review 6:Breakfast for 11 euros was quite terrible - I could not eat anything. There was literally just this: a couple of types of sweet yogurt, a croissant or two and coffee.
Review 7:Room was small, but super-quiet. Staff is very friendly.
Review 8:The initial wifi code did not work. The mattress cover wasn't very clean. Towels were not changed regularly. The door of the bathroom was small and could not close properly . Noise of water coming form nearby rooms could be heard.
Review 9:The location was not bad but not very close either ot the main station or the city centre. The hotel staff were nice.
Review 10:Breakfast cost an extra 10 euros per person and was really not worth it. Quite noisy and the bed wasnt that comfortable.
Review 11:Good location and friendly staff. We were there for a cycling event and they were very accommodating.
Review 12:The wifi signal was weak/slow. And one of the mornings there was no water in the room, neither hot or cold. I do not know if this water shortage was a general problem (whole street/neighbourgh) or specific of my roon. The hotel desk did not either.
Review 13:Quite and comfortable room
Review 14:1. Noisy rooms 2. Old carpet in the rooms 3. No wallfixation for the shower in the bath. Not possible to stand and take a shower. 4. Different kind if rooms. Some were bigger, lighter and "newer". 5. Stairway to the rooms 6. Breakfast was ok, but warm food (Omelett, bacon,...) & fresh bread (petits pains) were missing
Review 15:1.We could bring our dog (10€) 2.Citymap and friendly explanations at the front desk. 3.quartier
Review 16:The room and bathroom was a little 'tired' but bed was good and linen clean.
Review 17:Food (continental breakfast good and extensive). Evening meals superb. Location was good for walking to centre.
Review 18:The water didn't work in the kitchen area so you had to wash your dishes in the bathroom. The bed wasn't the greatest.the Internet service was terrible
Review 19:I upgraded to a room with a kitchenette which was cheaper than eating out in a resturant for every meal. The bathroom very nice. The staff was very helpful.
Review 20:Room was clean. Vacuumed, new sheets. Bathroom had some water spots. For us ok. BUT The room we had had a kitchenette. I wanted to use a glass for drinking, but couldn't find a single one out of the maybe 10-15 that wasn't either sticky or stained. The elevator is kind of noisy, bugged me at first, but it wasn't used too frequently.
Review 21:Very nice and polite staff. Very helpful. Modern style accommodation. Location- all major sites and attraction within 5-15 min. walking distance. Good breakfast, if you like croissants they have plain and chocolate owns freshly baked (or heated up)
Review 22:We stayed in 2011 and found it delightful. However, since then the hotel seems to have fallen into decline and lost its way. Our room had a beige carpet (an impractical colour for a hotel bedroom) which had many stains and needed a good deep clean. The washbasin was cracked. On one day we returned to our room at 15.00 to find that it had not been made-up, and that a vacuum cleaner was still in the dark corridor where it was when we left the hotel at 09.00 that morning. We shall not return.
Review 23:Located in quiet residential area, within easy walk of city centre. Breakfast coffee.
Review 24:Receptionists not always present at the desk or talking too long at the phone. A bit too much of waiting time. Bathroom with extremely small sink, not possible to use it without spilling water on the floor. Bathroom door very light and with glass, not possible to have any intimacy during use of toilet. Black pillows on bed dirty (found suspect white spots on them)
Review 25:Location pretty close to city centre and to train station. Price in the normal range. Not very busy hotel.
Review 26:Too small and too few bathroom towels Bed mattress unconfortable Blincking light bulbs Noisy at night(outside) Poor breakfast
Review 27:Receptionist and handyman was very helpfull and kind. Did all he could to help us.
Review 28:Very convenient and central location. Comfortable room. Extremely friendly and helpful staff. Restaurant Le Cyrano has amazing food: generous portions, great dishes. I had a 3 course lunch for €20 and a Fondue Bourgignonne for dinner which rocked my socks off.
Review 29:Very Dark, no Air Con in the rooms. dangerous steps in the bathroom
Review 30:Friendly staff. helpful in garaging car and getting it out again. able to have dogs in room
Review 31:Broken toilet seat, shower soaked the bathroom. No products at all for washing. The corridors and stairs were all decorated completely black.
Review 32:We found the staff helpful and location excellent. We appreciated the safe covered parking.
Review 33:Very friendly staff !!! Excellent location !!! The restaurant was amazing too !!!
Review 34:Small room, very basic, a bit shaby, needs refreshing, smells of food all over the first floor
Review 35:good breakfast, friendly staff
Review 36:Old building with poor noise isolation. A remodeling of a room next to us was planned early in the morning.
Review 37:Friendly staff and good cleanliness.
Review 38:There is strong smell in the room, the facilities are rather old
Review 39:The staff was nice
Review 40:the price is too high
Review 41:Staff
Review 42:Cigarette smoke smells strong. Lift too old. Still using keys for doors- card would be great for improvement
Review 43:Staff were very accommodating and helpful
Review 44:Helpful staff good restaurant.
Review 45:All black wall look but sad ... 3stars?? Hum ...
Review 46:Very quiet
Review 47:TV did not work (change of room was no problem)
Review 48:Noise from the lift in the room all night
Review 49:Nothing
Review 50:all the black decoration we found oppressive. Also cramped in the corridor especially with the sheets trolley there.
Review 51:Position and car parking
Review 52:carpet flooring in stains unpleasent smell in the reception hall and in the room
Review 53:Staff at the reception was very nice! Good location!
Review 54:Nothing really
Review 55:Location. Very nice persons at the reception who helped several times. Clean and big room
Review 56:In the night that I was there , cold shower because some problems with hot water occurs. In room internet was under expectations, very small bathroom, bathroom sink was smaller that the ones in the plane. I made reservation for parking place...and when i arrived it was not still available ...I have to wait 30 min...lucky me that I found a free place in front of the hotel, with charge, until place in garage was free.
Review 57:Not far away from center...15-20 min walking, friendly man ( the one that provided me a map of Liege and was in charge with parking places and other tasks in hotel).
Review 58:There was no chair to sit on in our room. The shower was awkward to use. The breakfast did not have much variety and there was no fruit and a shortage of butter on the second day
Review 59:The door still use regular key holes, so you have to carry a key chain with you. No shower curtains, so the water gets everywhere in the bathroom
Review 60:The staff was very friendly. The pastry for breakfast was very fresh and tasty. ( i am french so i can tell a good croissant from a bad one)
Review 61:Everything was ok except that there was a smoking odor in my room when I came in. But I guess that's a problem of the travelers, who don't respect the rules, not a problem of the staff.
Review 62:to be honest the only thing I didn't like was the dark colour of the corridors! not much to dislike really.
Review 63:Great location and friendly staff and good value for money. I'd stay here again if I ever get to visit Liege in future.
Review 64:Hotel was in a strange location..in a back street some 15 minutes walk from Guillemins station, and not really in the centre.
Review 65:Staff were pleasant and helpful, hotel was comfortable. I would stay there again if in Liege
Review 66:Due to colour choices for the breakfast room, it seemed a bit dated.
Review 67:Room had space. It wasn't the closet that I was expecting. Staff were friendly and breakfast was good. Not a far walk from anything we wanted to see and the buses were nearby.
Review 68:Breakfast was poor: a.o. coffee old and cold. Carpet on the floor dirty. Unnecessary familiarity of one staff-member.
Review 69:Reception on arrival friendly and helpful.
Review 70:major road works in the city caused the sat nav to go into meltdown. avoid liege for the near future. breakfast was basic.
Review 71:inside garage, chargable, location, quiet area. easy reach of town.
Review 72:Something went wrong with the booking (first time ever sincebooking.com) and he did not want to agree at first that we booked atwin room.Water does not drain well from bathroom, causing it to flood. Floor is not completely level; they use magazines to level a cabinet; feels unhygienic and looks sloppy.
Review 73:Location is perfect, just minutes walking away from down-town and withnice bars nearby.
Review 74:The stairs at the entrance and the room temperature (very hot)
Review 75:The breakfast - good choice and good coffee. Also the quiteness of the rooms, very good.
Review 76:Lift needed floor plate repaired and rather shabby carpet especially in the breakfast room, hotel is under going a slow renovation so I am sure in time they will be replaced.
Review 77:The hotel was very well situated to explore all parts of the city, and despite not speaking much English, the staff were friendly and obliging, hotel was clean despite shabby carpets especially in breakfast room. Fairly small family run hotel.
Review 78:Room basic, but clean.
Review 79:Friendly staff, central location close to park and railway station. Free wifi. Excellent breakfast buffet. Covered parking places (extra cost).
Review 80:The curtains in the bedroom were missing a few hooks and the showercurtain was also hanging loose and needed replacing, details whichmatter to overall comfort. The carpets in the common areas were worn. The breakfast was not very inspiring.
Review 81:The reception was very friendly. The hotel was lovely and warm on a verycold weekend in Liège. The location was calm.
Review 82:Would have been nice to be able to make tea/coffee in my roon.
Review 83:The price, the free wi-fi, the fact there was a fridge in my room aswell as a tv. Good city centre location. Clear directions with signsfrom the main road. Oh and the thoughtfully-provided umbrellas to borrowwhen it's raining!
Review 84:The staff is friendly and the room is very clean. There was shower gel, soap and other helpful objects in the bathroom. It is close to the city center (10 minutes walk) and to the train station.
Review 85:Nearly all the staff were uninterested in customer service. The two menon duty were wandering about in jeans and t shirts and were goingthrough the motions of customer service. The one lady receptionist washowever pleasant to deal with. The hotel needed some urgent maintenancetasks and our mini bar was empty, but this was just as well as there wasmould growing in it. The breakfast was very poor.
Review 86:The location was good for the city centre. Also Garage parking wasavailable for a charge.
Review 87:The room was clean, but too small, with very poor decor. The hotel is very close to the city center, in a quiet street, no noise at all. The room was ready at 9 at the morning, as we asked (official check-in at 14:00).
Review 88:Breakfast choice could have been larger and carpet in bedroom had seen better days although a fan was provided room was still very hot at night so air con would have been useful
Review 89:good location and price comparable with area . Secure parking (extra payment , but very good secure ) Room was clean and comfortable bed . Very quiet at night .. heard nothing . Good clean bathroom , and good breakfast room
Review 90:Hotel is old and in need to some refurbishment - carpets were old andworn and there was obvious damage in the room that had been neglected(hole in the wall, damaged cornices and other cosmetic things). Therewas no air conditioning in my room so if you're travelling during aperiod of particularly hot weather then it may be somewhatuncomfortable.
Review 91:Location was convenient to most places in town and to most of thesights. Value for money is good for a short term stay but the lack ofany real facilities or services make it less appealing for a longer termstay unless you're just looking for a bed and a place to store yourbelongings. Staff were helpful and responsive.
Review 92:It his hard to believe you have to pay 77 euros per night (without breakfeast) in this hotel. I was in a hotel in Brusell for 66 euros (breakfeast included) ten times better and near the Grand Place
Review 93:I was very disappointed as the accommodation was pre-paid by mastercard. When I checked in,my Visa card was debited I will like to know why the Mastercard was not charged This was very inconvenient for me
Review 94:I've stayed here for over a decade and the decline has been slow butmarked. Rooms increasingly battered looking. Breakfasts slowlydecreasing in quality but the worst thing I was put in a room for threenights where they had put up a blind to cover the window because theyhadn't replaced the curtains. Which would have been ok, except youcouldn't open the blind so unless you had the lights on the room was ina permanent state of total-darkness.
Review 95:Free wifi, location and reasonable prices. Room size acceptable.Friendly if occasionally bumbling staff.
Review 96:Value for money. Poor badroom conditions
Review 97:Hospitality
Review 98:Spartan rooms - no ammenities. The interior needs some serious renovation.
Review 99:The staff was friendly and helpful.
Review 100:Staff was very good and location was great.
Review 101:The black staircase. The springy mattress. The poor wifi connection.
Review 102:The coffee at breakfast.
Review 103:old and dark look
Review 104:clean
Review 105:Very good breakfast - especially the croissants and pain au chocolat. REALLY GOOD!
Review 106:Very shabby bedroom. The hotel has a tired, down-at-heel atmosphere.
Review 107:Spacious bathroom.
Review 108:Staff was nice, it was quiet and clean, bed was confortable
Review 109:Rooms were very spacious, everything works well and there was a bonus kitchenette in one room. Staff are friendly and helpful
Review 110:Very poor hotel
Review 111:breakfast expensive
Review 112:Very quiet street, small safe in room, close to both central station and city center
Review 113:Helpful, friendly desk clerk, Christophe.
Review 114:Breakfast was a bit sparse.
Review 115:Staff very friendly and efficient. Location is very close to the centre. Well served by public transport
Review 116:It was a very comfortable room, the staff gave us good service.
Review 117:Comfort
Review 118:The car parking was not as good as we thought.
