Reviews for Tepanee Beach Resort

Review 1:The hotel is expanding. Therefore, the construction side will be there for a long time. Bad Wifi Noisy during nights due to loud bar music

Review 2:Very clean rooms. Nice locations, fantastic view. Nice terrace

Review 3:A bowl of water at the door of each room would be nice to rinse off feet before going in. Air conditioning a bit weak uncomfortable bed

Review 4:Private beach with great snorkelling Proximity to two nice restaurants Close to main beach but far enough away to feel more exclusive and quieter

Review 5:Great staff, really friendly. If you feel like some exercise then find the owner or the manager and they'll take you on a run round the island if you can keep up... Great little private beach and the room was nice, up on a little hill so nice spot to relax in the evening.

Review 6:Food was a bit more expensive compared to close by restaurants that offered the same meals however the food was okay.

Review 7:Amazing location, very quiet and relaxing. The rooms are reasonably priced and most of the staff were friendly.

Review 8:Food was very bad for a resort like this, one element of the staff seem anoyed when interacting with us unlike other who always had a smile

Review 9:Private beach, room balconies

Review 10:Wifi in our bedroom (room was called Nido) was very poor or no internet during our stay. Not that one should care about being connected but at times it would have been nice.

Review 11:The beach is rocky Hotel is door-to-door with cemetry, so we had the "ocean-and-cemetry view"

Review 12:Nice hotel with clean rooms, hot water and air-con. Good value for price on the island

Review 13:Cleaning service is not that good.didn't change the towl for 1 of my stay.

Review 14:Locate at island corner, in the hillside, with private beach. Good view, pretty quite but a lot of cockroack,Gekkonidae.

Review 15:Location- a bit away from the dive shops strip and is therefore very peaceful. The private beach is amazing. Great cocktail! Best Italian food in Malapascua!

Review 16:No refund when they should consider the fact we couldn't go due to bad weather.

Review 17:Nothing didn't even get to go there due to bad weather conditions

Review 18:One of the staff is very unfriendly while most staff are friendly and helpful.

Review 19:Good view and private. However, private beach is not fully ready in the low season.

Review 20:This resort does not provide the essentials you normally get such as soap, shampoo etc...and it's not like they are a low end resort; they advertise or come across as a mid class resort. The beach at this resort (no comment). Go to the beach on the main strip coz its way better and no big boulders/rocks that get in the way. There's no value for the money you pay and th bed was not comfortable and bring a mosquito repellent lotion or spray because you will be attacked.

Review 21:During our stay it wasn't crowded so that was good but maybe it's because we went during the quite season. I didn't like anything else, did not enjoy the time at this specific resort.

Review 22:We arrived at hotel at 12:00 pm after a hard boat ride to malapascua. We woke the receptionist up. He was really careless with us. After we got the room, we saw lizards and giant spiders like tarantulas in the room. We call the receptionist and they only tried to kill them. This was not a solution. The room we booked was at the ground floor. The door and bottom of the room are wooden. There is a half cm gap between the door and ground. All the living things can easily get inside room. I said my wife can't sleep in this room. Please change/upgrade our room with another one. There was no free room in the hotel. I said I want to move another hotel and they did'nt help us to find a new hotel and they only said you can find a hotel and move. I blocked the gap with pillows and we tried to sleep. After a nightmare we moved Ocaen Vida on the next day. They don't even say sorry for the case and charged two days accommodation(we booked two days). I have never seen a rude recepcionist like this in all my life. Never stay this hotel at least never stay in ground floor room if you don't want to live an experience like ours.

Review 23:Nothing

Review 24:. Got bitten by snake-bug in bed in middle of night. . Next to a cemetery (human bones in a bucket due to damage in coffins by typhoon) . Wifi did not work for three days.

Review 25:. Help in getting to the hotel (although it costed 96€) . Nice view from bar and deck chairs, isolated from other beaches.

Review 26:- They had some construction works just infront of our room, that was a little distraction sometime

Review 27:- Private beach was clean, no waves, non people, with shower and bar nearby - Location of the beach was really good comparing with other on the bounty beach - Clean rooms -Wooden furniture -Nice garden -Friendly staff -Good price

Review 28:Wifi signal is bad but that ok, we dont really use it, towels and linen are provided but no shampoo and body wash even though its suppose to be a "resort" and not a budget place. Room was directly in front of construction which took away the quietness and privacy during the day. Their restaurant is overpriced compared to other places.

Review 29:The location is very good, the private beach has a great view of the sunset and good for snorkeling as there are nice rocks right in front of the beach. The room is big and clean, reasonably price. Overall, its a good place to stay for the location.

Review 30:too many pets(read : cats) on the property, cannot open windows at night as we would end up waking with third person on a two bedded room !

Review 31:This is ace of a property. I could live my life just staying there, but i had the harsh real world that i had to get back to.

Review 32:I don't like it that the fan rooms got nicer views than the superior.the restaurant got very little selection of food in the menu and it's overpriced.

Review 33:The private beach

Review 34:If they had arranged to meet guests at the boat, it would have saved us a painful slog to the hotel under a blazing sun, carrying our luggage. If there had been phones in the rooms we would have been spared clambering up and down to the reception for every simple request or inquiry. The arrangements made for us, by special request and at no small cost, to go snorkelling were most unsatisfactory.

Review 35:Only the food in their Angelica restaurant...

Review 36:Room names hard to remember when you order a smoothie on the beach

Review 37:The place is like a little paradise in Malapacua. Rooms are very nice and comfortable, private beach with an excellent seating arrangement and view. The restaurant is the crown in the place with a super delightful atmosphere and delicious food. All very reasonably priced. The only issue is they have local names for the rooms which sometimes made it a problem to remember my room name when i order something from the beach and would have preferred a room number.

Review 38:Malapascua island is a really sad place outside Tepanee. Totally ruined, and not by the typhoon but by people who just dont care about their island. We walked around the entire island and it was the same all around, trash trash and trash.. Cans, bottles, shoes, plastic bags, you name it. And the island and beaches are covered with it. Tried snorkeling around the island but the corals are dead and no fish.. So in a nutshell, if you just want to see the sharks and dont care about clean beaches you might consider Malapascua. If you are looking for a "paradise island" getaway with clean waters and beaches with nice snorkeling, Malapascua is totally the opposite. And the same ignorance and abundance of trash applies for Bantayan island also.. Guess its the way of life in the Philippines. Very very sad..

Review 39:Tepanee itself is a very nice well maintened resort, perfect relaxation, everything working effortlessly. Very good restaurant and nice little and clean beach.

Review 40:The room was nice with a view, the food was delicious and the private beach had the best view on the island! We had a wonderful time there and wish we could have stayed longer!

Review 41:cold water in the shower, no wifi in the room (on beach/restaurant only) no safe box - not like in description

Review 42:Very nice location, nice massage for reasonable price, very helpful and friendly staff

Review 43:The wifi didn't work in the rooms, you have to walk a ways to get to the good beach, if your not able to do stairs you wont make it here. up and down to everything no matter where your going. While the property is kept very clean, just outside the property in every direction is piles of trash. Just another note : When your catching a boat to the island at the last bus stop area, they tried to charge us 1500P each, the sign said 80 and 20 transfer, we wouldn't pay it, later more people arrived and told them 200P , they refused to pay it also, when we got to about 20 people they finally took the 80P that was the right price. and to transfer from the big boat to the shore should be 20P. On the return trip they grabbed a lot of bags includeing one of mine and put them on one boat and wouldn't let me on the boat with my bag, said get it when you get to shore. They charged me the 20P on the transfer boat I road on then when I went to the other boat to get my bag they wanted 50P luggage transfer fee. They had a line of angry people who didn't want to pay the extra and they wouldn't hand them their bags. I walked out in the water and grabbed my bag off the boat without paying and they started cussing me , then everyone just started taking their bags. I know this has nothing to do with the resort I stayed at, but just be ready for the scams going back and forth to the island.

Review 44:This place had the best food we found on the island. It was very quiet and friendly and comfortable . If you want quiet, this is the place. If I go back to this island I would stay over on bounty beach and come back here for the food.

Review 45:Awesome and easy going place with great staff. Our room wasn't beach front but we still had an ocean view. The place is very clean and beautiful and there is a private beach. Breakfast and lunch were served in the beach restaurant and dinner in another restaurant, Amihan. The owner is Italian, and so was The food - which was delicious. We'd really like to go back. :)

Review 46:We aware that you need 5 hours minimum to tech the airport. Book a private boat in advance for 1000 to 1500 pesos very early in the morning, the in the orther side, Cebu mainland, you can take aregular bus to Cebu city. Ask the driver because it is better to stop before North Station and take a quick taxi to reach the airport sooner.

Review 47:Locator ion close to paradise.

Review 48:I only had one breakfast. Not good. They should have filipino breakfast on their menu.

Review 49:Very nice resort with private beach. Booked the cottage with fan; witn balcony and nice sea view. Clean. Staff accomodating and friendly. Very close to boat drop off.

Review 50:Location is isolated from the crowd. Great ocean view. Delicious food at the bar and at the Italian restaurant Amihan. Coffee and breakfast is awesome too. Fan room was fine with us as the breeze during the night is chilled. Very friendly and helping stuff. No need to go out of the resort except for diving.

Review 51:the location is amazing the best spot in Malapascua island.....nice clean rooms very recommended

Review 52:The aircon was not cold enough and not very effectfull.

Review 53:The service, the food, the location and the property.

Review 54:Great location, perfect to unwind. Very friendly and helpful staff. Great coffee. An excellent mix between local and European food.

Review 55:Nothing.

Review 56:Everything about the place!

Review 57:Great location, helpful friendly staff. Nice private beach.

Review 58:Miserable unwelcoming staff and noisy from building works ongoing at the site. wifi although advertised is non existent

Review 59:Location

Review 60:Lovely place, the owners were friendly and helpful, very relaxing but plenty to do. Highly recommended.

Review 61:Lovely clean rooms, nice porch with couch, friendly and helpful staff.

Review 62:It was under a lot of noisy construction during our stay, oct-15.

Review 63:Sunsets at the beach.

Review 64:A lot of steps to navigate.

Review 65:Having a tasty breakfast on the beach is a wonderful way to start the day

Review 66:The best resort on the island, full stop. Views from the room were just incredible, stunning!

Review 67:No soaps. Only one thin pillow

Review 68:Nice staff. Good food.

Review 69:With breakfast in the price.

Review 70:Still under construction. Noisy mornings.

Review 71:Friendly helpful staff. Lovely set up. Nice rooms, clean. Marvellous beach bar.

Review 72:the lights in the resort are dim at night and very easy to get lost

Review 73:villa is very private and well-designed

Review 74:At first no TV was startling but we came to love it!

Review 75:Everything

Review 76:Hôtel under construction .....

Review 77:Near the bay. There is a private beach seeing stars. And the landscaping is also beautiful.

Review 78:the location and confort of room ...

Review 79:Lovely place. Private and full or serenity

Review 80:Hot rooms, so get room with AC Staff was just ok

Review 81:Nice location

Review 82:Wifi not very good, breakfast a bit boring.

Review 83:Great location

Review 84:Cozy resort, nice view from the sea front cottages, relaxed quiet atmosphere and beautiful private beach.

Review 85:Water... Not enough pressure in pipes. It's one but big problem.

Review 86:Hotel takes the best part on Malapascua island. It's really best hotel.

Review 87:The resort is run immaculately, the staff is very helpful and the owners are very welcoming. Plus the view from the cottage is just amazing.

Review 88:The wifi didnt work, but not a big thing for us

Review 89:Location, layout, staff all very good. Very relaxing stay and great value for money

Review 90:Food is not good

Review 91:Lovely beach, nice room & garden

Review 92:Everything!

Review 93:Location is isolated from the crowd. Great ocean view. Very friendly and helping stuff.

Review 94:breakfast a bit expensive

Review 95:nicely designed room, great atmosphere, private beach, great location, quality food, good wifi

Review 96:A lovely place to stay...recomended

Review 97:No coffee or tea making facilities in the room

Review 98:Beautiful setting with best restaurant on the island

Review 99:We were staying at low season and were annoyed with the breakfast you can buy in advance. Lots of choises on the menu but not all available. Why just not take these ones away?

Review 100:If you are looking for a relaxing holliday this is a good Place to stay at. Hotell is not the fanciest one but very charming and nice cottages viewing the sea. We enjoyed sunbathing at the hotels private beach and the diving is very good. Also the restuarant Angelinas suited at the hotell is a Lovely italian restuarant with great food.

Review 101:We arrived and had to pay extra for our bags to be taken to our room. Be careful, no ATM in the island! They advertise the wifi in the room but the is none. unacceptable. only wifi is in the bar which they switch off at 7 pm and transfer the the restaurant and after 11 no wifi. i say again that, that is a joke , even the women told us at the start maybe the wifi will work.no emergency phone in the room, if you have a problem you have to find the night porter, and its so dark, so good luck if you have a problem at night. Our lock to the room didn t work, told them , next day someone came, move something but in the end still the same, told to reception again but they didn t care. for 4 days we gave our pc and phone to reception as our lock was still not fixed. at this point we gave up. Ask to the beach bar to hire snorkeling set, they say "yes somebody will bring to you", I was waiting for 45 minutes and then decided to ask again; the answer was "go to reception", so I walked to reception and they say "we dont have it". this place is a joke, the worst thing was after we paid the bill. we left the resort paid our bills got on the boat to go back and the boat captain got a call from the resort asking to take 700 pesos from us to bring back because they made a mistake, ridiculous , how do they expect us just to hand over money when we haven t seen what we a paying for. and honestly there is quite a lot more things example, very poor breakfast, rock hard pillows and uncomfortable bed , staff attitude, the list can go on, seriously.

Review 102:nice view, nice food

Review 103:The unlit rough coral stairs made getting around difficult. Not having wifi in the rooms

Review 104:Great swimming in the crystal clear waters. In the private beach

Review 105:Not many surfaces to put stuff or hang stuff in the room Resort pretty hilly and it was hard work climbing up and down with a painful knee.

Review 106:Lovely beach, huts overlooking water. Price was good. Secluded feel to the whole resort.

Review 107:Hardly any information when we checked in, Italian owners are more busy with getting their cappuccino and entertaining themselves instead of paying attention to their guests. That really gives a very bad feeling to see that your hosts ignore you almost completely. Paying with credit card cost u 5% more!

Review 108:Philippine staff was friendly, remarkable to build a resort on such a small and poor island. Restaurant was good with also good European food and wine.

Review 109:The hotel private beach had a very nice snorkeling corals. Breakfast is a la carte and top quality, real cappuccino, pancakes, omelets, sandwiches... Room is spacious and has a nice balcony. Mosquito net on all windows, if you do not want to run the air conditioning you can get a fresh see breeze. Make sure you book your transportation to and back to the island with the hotel, difficult logistic with high, low tides.

Review 110:Be aware that just after the typhoon electricity was not always available. Andrea informed us and for us this was not at all a problem, even though I had to charge the videocamera for underwater filming. Therefore not really an issue for us at all.

Review 111:Tepanee is in one word fantastic! We arrived two weeks after the Typhoon Yolanda. Nevertheless, the atmosphere was still brilliant, staff helpful and the Ocean view still stunning. Luxury stand-alone bungalows with comformtable bed, hot shower, WIFI, plenty of space. This is however not what made this visit so special: this was realised by the owners Andrea & Silvia and Vittorio, their friend + chef from Amihan (closeby restaurant, best chef on the Island for sure). They make you feel at home, appreciated and treat all guests in the much appreciated personal way without intruding in your holiday. Always helpful and cheerful. Andrea, Silvia, Vittorio: thank you so much for making this week in Malapascua unforgetable! By the way: the food is exceptionally good!

Review 112:Maybe the room was a little bit too basic and need some changes soon regarding the existing furniture and maybe adding some extra things, such as a place to leave the luggage. Bathroom was basic too and there was no shelve to leave any thing.

Review 113:Nice people and really valuable staff, specially the italian owners that are really committed to offer the best service. Our accommodation was basic but they are still investing in offering a best service, such as implementing a desalination unit for the water in the bathrooms. They really pay attention at safety regarding food which is also valuable. It is also remarkable the private beach, very nice to stay there and get a massage at sunset (same price than anywhere else, not the kind of expensive massage you get in hotels, totally out of the market)

Review 114:nothing

Review 115:Well organized Nice staff Great massage Good fresh food (Italian based) Amihan restaurant (Italian based) location perfect lay back private beach and often a nice breeze so less hot. private beacht walking distance to mainbeach and divers scene.

Review 116:Advance booking charge by creditcard was being with another 3% on top, this payment was made a month before my stay so should not subject to 3% additional charge and this not has been communicate clearly Stair up to your room floor very rough can't walk with bear foot so not idle after waling from beach on bear foot

Review 117:Quite Clean

Review 118:The provided towels were very tatty and old with permanent stains which made them very unappealing, a silly thing to drag down such a nice place when it could be so easily solved - buy new towels!

Review 119:I liked sunset beach and the gorgeous little secluded snorkelling and sunbathing area with amazing massages by Michele! The associated restaurant set up on the rocks is phenomenally good and Vitorio the owner is a superb host - so happy to have visited!

Review 120:This was the second time for me to go to the island, and the second time to stay at Tepanee. The cottage I stayed in was still almost perfect. The stunning ocean view from simple but nice room and lovely balcony.

Review 121:Nothing. One must appreciate a rustic environment to enjoy this resort which has with full marks to them, tried to cater to city folk's basic amenities such as airconditioning and hot shower!

Review 122:Unique rustic chalet style. Units facing the sea offer amazing views and privacy. Meals are in abundance on the island but we preferred to eat at Tepanee where there is an excellent albeit limited breakfast choice. We also met Vittorio who organises the F & B and understand that there will be a restuarant set on a cliff, due for opening later this year. Meanwhile, we were pleasantly surprised to be asked whether we would like to join in a specially prepared dinner of barracuda carpaccio to be followed by pasta!

Review 123:The staff came off a bit cheeky at times... A bit too much gossip for my liking but it didn't really bother my stay there.

Review 124:Vittorio (partner & F&B manager). Excellent cocktails & drinks. Beautiful private beach.
