Reviews for Hotel Brosundet

Review 1:- Small breakfast room - Toilets in the rooms are just separated with a milky-glass wall and not lockable

Review 2:- Comfortable double bed with a nice view - Tasty breakfast - Cozy atmosphere - Friendly staff

Review 3:Bar and restaurant closed on a Sunday, restaurant very expensive even by Norwegian standards

Review 4:Beautiful hotel, in a fantastic location, lovely staff could not be more helpful, good selection at breakfast, made sandwiches for our last day leaving early, very thoughtful

Review 5:No bottle of free water on the room. In spite of great look, quite narrow bathroom (room 210).

Review 6:unique place on a unique location in Aalesund. Warm, very cosy and comfy. Well finished and high quality materials used in the rooms. Great beds, great bathroom. Excellent restaurant with great, fresh, perfeclty cooked fish.

Review 7:The only to be improved is breakfast selection of fruits.

Review 8:Room was pretty much perfect for asked price. And hotel restaurant is to be reccomended with highest score. Excellent.

Review 9:The staff was relentless in their effort to help when asked, and went the extra mike every time we interacted. Amazing service! I cannot say enough about the level of professionalism and courtesy.

Review 10:room layout utterly impractical and frustrating No place to store baggage Tables and chairs too small Hard to store objects and retrieve Shower area minuscule Toilet not sound insulated -- embarrassing

Review 11:Location

Review 12:Only one bad experience wirh a snooty waiter at dinner.

Review 13:Location was perfect, Restaurant was great as was the breakfast. Clean comfortable spacious rooms with big tub and separate shower.

Review 14:Nothing

Review 15:The location was excellent. Girls at the reception were always smiling and so helpful. Super clean, amaizing view and the room was stunning. I totally recommend it.

Review 16:Location, the cutest hotel, the atmosphere, the staff, the local beer, just everything was perfect! Definitely coming back some other time, to try out the fish restaurant :)

Review 17:Right across the street from the hotel was a bar which got quite noisy until around until about 2am but until then noisy enough to keep us up. Also the bathroom in the room had froated walls on the front wall and while you couldn't see in one could see shadows. A bit awkward when going to the bathroom.

Review 18:The breakfast was great and the location of the hotel couldn't be beat.

Review 19:Friendly hotel right on the water, with absurdly sloped hallways, giant beams, and frosted-glass bathrooms. There's a sheepskin on each side of the bed, free (and usable) wifi, and both veil and opaque curtains (though not full blackout curtains). Parking is a paper map to the city pay lots --- 150 NOK per day and fairly limited. The restaurant Maki looks promising, but overkill for tonight... maybe tomorrow. A good picturesque base in Ålesund.

Review 20:- The maid here is quite forgetful. - First night she forgot the clear a dust bin(which is fulled) we make a note to her - the second night she forgot bathroom mat, hair towels and didn't refill the tissue box which we had to make a very long note in the next day so everything in the next night don't missing.

Review 21:- Location is good - the breakfast is perfect

Review 22:Spare bed in room with appalling mattress. (Staff did supply another next day immediately when asked). Due to its central location- Room 210 - ground floor next to small square - recommend you don't accept this room at the weekend as ended up with post-party discussions one night and asking the quarrelling couple outside our window the next night to move. (They were very surprised to see someone.) At this price we expected to be able to sleep, especially as we had swapped to this hotel following reviews. The hotel discounted room for first night when asked.

Review 23:Location of hotel for exploring during the day and a superb breakfast; toiletries; lovely helpful reception.

Review 24:The room we had was a tad small and we are not big luggage people.

Review 25:The location is excellent as well as the hotel lobby. The breakfast was outstanding.

Review 26:Noisy bedroom opposite all night music bar. Congested breakfast room badly laid out.

Review 27:We liked having a kettle in the room so we could make tea and coffee. The barman was very helpful and friendly.

Review 28:The sound insulation between at least some of the rooms is not great: we had a room adjoining another (the kind where if you book both rooms there is a lockable internal door to move between them) and when our neighbours watched TV we could hear every word :/ After no success knocking on their door, I went to reception who immediately called upstairs and asked them to turn it down (which they did — it was after midnight!). So thank you for dealing with our only complaint promptly :)

Review 29:Beautiful hotel, subtly and immaculately decorated and in a perfect location. My husband loved the 'water view' room and the stream of small boats going by. Very nice buffet breakfast too. If you can get a coveted spot in the restaurant you will enjoy amazing food — not cheap, but wonderfully and thoughtfully made.

Review 30:No parking at the hotel, but some available a short walk away.

Review 31:Very pretty hotel with a lovely room full of original features. Friendly staff and an excellent breakfast.

Review 32:Lack of hotel parking. Only two female toilets by restaurant and one of them couldn't be locked at time of my visit. Would expect such things fixed immediately for this standard of hotel.

Review 33:Beautifully styled hotel. Great breakfast selection.

Review 34:The bedroom (206) had an amazing waterfront view but it was very small. The shower leaked badly.

Review 35:Location on waterfront right in the middle of the town is great. Beautifully converted old building. Fabulous fish restaurant, Maki, pricey but great food.

Review 36:The location was amazing. The hotel was central to everything. The rooms were beautifully appointed and comfortable. We had a window right on the harbor. The hotel had bikes to loan.

Review 37:Everything from location to the staff was perfect at Hotel Brusundet. The room we had was perfect size with a beautiful bathroom and all the ammenities.

Review 38:Parking outside reception was a problem, with no dedicated places available for hotel guests. Check-in time is advertised as 2 pm but our room was not ready. We were assigned another room but when we arrived there it was also not ready! The very helpful maid arranged another room for us. This room (401) was very small and with two suitcases the room was very congested. The bathroom was tiny; one had to be a contortionist (or very thin) to get into the shower.

Review 39:The work of the architects in converting this building to a lovely hotel is impressive. The ambience is delightful, the bed super-comfortable, and the bathroom and shower fittings first class. The location overlooking the water is very pleasant. The breakfast was superb.

Review 40:Slightly disappointed with breakfast, especially on Monday when we got down for 10.30 (breakfast was 8-11) and staff were packing away breakfast stuff with people still eating, staff were also a little rude when we asked for plates. Otherwise a lovely stay and service could not be faulted.

Review 41:Lovely style of hotel at a great location on the canal with the boat tours operator right across the water and lots of little cafes and restaurants around. Great views from the waterside rooms.

Review 42:Our shower had a few issues and the curtains needed a towel to cut out the light but this is really picky.

Review 43:This is a beautifully restored waterside hotel, sympathetically restored for the modern day. It has all the mid-on and the breakfast really is a feast.

Review 44:The lobby was cozy and inviting with a fire burning in one corner surrounded by cozy chairs. The room was clean and modern. The hotel is a short walk from both the bus station and ferry/cruise shop terminal. The breakfast was great with a huge selection of both traditional Norwegian fare and standard English items.

Review 45:Public parking can be inconvenient.

Review 46:Lovely rooms. The room that we got was actually slanted. We just thought that it was pretty unique. Haha. View from room was great!

Review 47:Our room was on the higher floor but very small and with low ceiling. The bed is also very small and I wondered how Northern Europeans can sleep on those beds. Personally I think the room is only suitable for one person's stay. Breakfast selection is limited compared with Radisson Blu in the same town. Although the building itself is beautiful the stay was not very pleasant.

Review 48:No parking, unless you're lucky with 1 free space. Otherwise its around £15 in a car park around 5 mins walk away.

Review 49:Good location. Lovely room. Great views.

Review 50:You had to pay for parking down the street (about 20USD).

Review 51:The hotel was easy to find, located right on the water! The staff was very kind and helpful, but our favorite part was hands down the beautiful decor - exposed wooden beams throughout, warm colors, beautiful arched windows and a bed I could have slept for days in! The bathroom floors were heated so your toes stayed toasty when you got out of the shower. Breakfast was great - quite a lot of variation and all delicious! I would most definitely stay here again!

Review 52:The breakfast was good, but because of few people in the staff one had to wait 30 minutes for bacon. They also had problems making enough coffee. There was nobody in the reception at least three times during our stay. First we found it empty and thought we were in a empty restaurant.

Review 53:Great rooms with a terrific view. Perfect location.

Review 54:Lovely place to stay! Open fire in the lobby, wonderful breakfast, very friendly and helpful staff! Spacious room, comfortable beds. Very central just right next to the canal.

Review 55:Although bedroom was appealing, it lacked practicality - poor storage capacity, no desk, lighting not great. Bathroom glazed off from bedroom so light shines through

Review 56:Restaurant food excellent although veggie food had to be specially requested. Building conversion and setting very appealing

Review 57:Excellent choice- perfect location great food in the restaurant ( recommend to book in advance ). Good breakfast. Small but very clean room. Highly recommend to everyone traveling to Alesund.

Review 58:construction works all arround the hotel. I parked my car in front of the hotel while there was no other space but not desturbing but the stuff did not even wanted to allow me to unload the luggage. While he came out to look where the car stands he did not even helped to carry the stuff. The restaurant had no space left wht is no problem but the waiter did not even want to speak with me. In all over super friendly Norway that was low class behaviour. About the rooms: The toilet is like a milk glass aquarium in the room. You prefer architecture than privat space while sitting on toilet you are right here.

Review 59:central

Review 60:2 single bed blanket in the double bed not much to do in the evening in the city and the tv channel choice is in the hotel is very poor

Review 61:hôtel style breakfast and the best restaurant in town (try it!)

Review 62:Nothing.

Review 63:Excellent location on the waterside. Easy walking distance from most of the town. The friendliness of the staff, food, breakfast, and activities they recommended.

Review 64:Expensive, but typical for Norway. Also parking is a problem, you have to drop off bags then drive round to find a spot, but cost of parking very low as doesn't charge after 6pm! You just pay for the early morning part.

Review 65:Beautiful room, excellent bed quiet for a lovely nights sleep in centre of Alesund. Very helpful reception staff too!

Review 66:Unfortunatelly the room and the bathroom were extremelly tiny and after showering the bathroom was flooded. The room is so small that I wouldn't know how to handle a bit suitcase if I had one. The wooden original beam is so low that you need to be careful when walking from the bedroom to the bathroom so that you don't hit your head. The restaurant was extremely noisy, but the food was great, which was something I was missing during my trip (it is really hard to eat well in Norway if you have a sofisticated taste, so I definitely recommend for those who are picky ).

Review 67:A cute and nice hotel, with a very interesting and modern interior design. People who worked there were very nice and friendly. I didnt have the chance to eat breakfast, but the restaurant at the hotel was excelent to have dinner. Needs lots of accoustic work, though. I left very early in the morning and asked for a sandwich to go, which was kindly prepared and ready by the time I left. The location is the best in town.

Review 68:Location. Good buffet breakfast. Maki restaurant located in the hotel is very good but very expensive for what they are offering. Portions should be a bit larger at that point in order to get money's worth. Our meal cost us around 270.00 euros for two menus with wine.

Review 69:Only two free parking places for guests that cannot be reserved in advance. Both the hotel and the restaurant are very expensive, even for Norway.

Review 70:Excellent location, right in the center of Aalesund. Very professional and helpful staff. Large, bright, and exquisitely furnished room. Outstanding dinner and breakfast.

Review 71:The room was so small that there was no place to put either of our small suitcases. The floor sloped downward so that if you dropped something, it immediately rolled to one side of the room. There was noisy construction going on outside our window, but when I complained, the staff gave us a discount on the price of the room which I very much appreciated.

Review 72:I liked the modern, sleek look of the hotel and rooms. The staff were also extremely accommodating and friendly.

Review 73:No airconditioning and very low head room. With the festival the noise was loud and we had to open the windows to cool the room

Review 74:Location and authentic feel

Review 75:No food availible on a Sunday the day we arrived and very limited food in the town on this day-all restaurants closed at 8pm! Would be good to have some food options if not eating in the restaurant. Restaurant is very small so often fully booked. Some of the bedrooms are also very small which is okay for 1 person, for business or one night. We were staying for 5 nights and wanted a room to chill in some of the time after a lot of touring before we arrived. In the first room we had there was no bedside table and only one desk chair and no room for luggage. Very little wardrobe space and no drawers in either room but second room was much better.

Review 76:Excellent restaurant, wonderful food. Pleased to be moved to a larger room. Very helpful receptionist. Liked the mix of old and contemporary.

Review 77:Modern, clean hotel in an old building, so it had charm and style. Just what we were looking for after some very average stays in bigger hotel chains during our week in Norway.

Review 78:If I was to be very picky .. the restaurant area was quite small ... cosy for the winter but cramped in the summer ... shame they did not use the terrace more ...

Review 79:The food was some of the best we had in all of Norway ... The tasting menu and wine selection was just great.

Review 80:Everything very tight: very small room, shower which was leaking as of poor disign, had to wait for a table to take breakfast as there were no place to sit. Definitely not a good place to stay when travelling with kids!

Review 81:1) Location 2) Clean

Review 82:No air-con in our room, normally no problem in this town, but i was the warmest summer ever. The bathroom-unit is fancy, maybe too fancy. The shower-buttons could almost be found in an IQ-test.

Review 83:Location, location.. Everything in a stroll`s distance. Nice combo of modern hotel in a historic building. Huge breakfast-buffet. We were travelling with a dog. No problem at all.

Review 84:Our stay in June 2014 was hampered somewhat by the fact that construction work directly outside our window began early in the morning. Parking facilities were also very limited.

Review 85:Tiny reception area, there was only room for one person at the desk and that space was occupied when I checked in and out. It made the experience rather impersonal and remote as the receptionist used a desk at the back of the actual reception desk. No safety catches on the windows. No hotel parking so had to find a public parking garage and walk with my luggage. Bar and restaurant closed on Sunday when I arrived.

Review 86:Nice room small but cosy. View over the quayside. Close to the centre. Nice bar and restaurant. Tea and coffe making facilities in the room.

Review 87:something seemed to have slipped since our last visit previous year e.g. no instructions in the room on either use of telephone, TV, or shower; latter particularly important as was quite complicated. Room much smaller than last year - quite disappointed.

Review 88:The Young Lady in reception on arrival despite being very new was very helpful; the dinner was excellent, their monkfish is my wife's favourite

Review 89:Great location, amazing views, well furnished room. The lobby and room felt very clean and modern but with the beauty of an old Scandinavian building.

Review 90:The rooms are really small, it's hard to even move around in the bedroom and the bathroom.

Review 91:Decore and ambience. Comfortable beds. Great restaurant. Nice staff. Great location and views.

Review 92:The lighthouse room was a fun novelty, even if it wasn’t plush. The proper room was excellent, and there are few better locations. Design-wise, great attention to detail. The multi-paned windows completely blocked out the construction noise outside.

Review 93:Kr. 270.00 for two glasses of white wine. Though it was an ecellent brand, but would expect they mention the price. For sure the have more reasonable ones. Bar price for two shots(2cl) of Rum(very good brand) at kr.270 as well is "robbery". Had the same rum in neighbor restaurant at half price . Will probably stay there next time as well, but will check the price list then.

Review 94:The hotel as a whole. Nice room, but rather limited space, but that's understandable due to limitations of the original building. Breakfast is very good. Location could not be better - easy parking in the street.

Review 95:Weird en suite bathroom.

Review 96:Location and bedroom

Review 97:slope floor :)

Review 98:lovely hotel, nice breakfast. good location and excelent price.

Review 99:Great breakfast and dinner, friendly staff, terrific location in this beautiful Art Nouveau town, easy airport transfers.

Review 100:I think that it's little bit expensive the restaurant

Review 101:The location is amazing.

Review 102:The bathroom is not thougth thrue.. Only glass as walls are not noise or light cancelling enough betwen the rooms...

Review 103:Nice hotel with the extra touch!

Review 104:No gym

Review 105:Staff and nice bed!

Review 106:Shape of the bathtub

Review 107:Very friendly staff, comfortable room and excellent dinner in the restaurant

Review 108:The excellent location, the Maki restaurant

Review 109:Restaurant close on sunday

Review 110:Sight from the room

Review 111:Could not get a reservation for dinner. Totally booked. An ahead for the best restaurant in town.

Review 112:One of the best breakfast I have ever had!

Review 113:Staff were very kind and helpfull

Review 114:For such a expensive hotel the breakfast is just terrible .

Review 115:Lovely staff and view.

Review 116:The rooms are small

Review 117:The staff were very friendly and helpful and the location couldn't be better!

Review 118:None

Review 119:Although the room size is small but the arrangement of furniture is eficient and the view is very good

Review 120:The room was very comfortable and well designed, and the breakfast was excellent.

Review 121:Brilliant location, right by the inner harbour, fantastic atmosphere. Quality all round.

Review 122:Room is kind of small.

Review 123:Nowhere to put suitcase in room.

Review 124:The restaurant.

Review 125:Room was a bit small and way too hot

Review 126:Nice personnel Nice room design
