Reviews for Trondheim Vandrerhjem
Review 1:A hairdryer would have been much appreciated, but that isn't a complaint :)
Review 2:Staff very helpful, I needed to leave my luggage there for the day even though I hadn't booked another night and they were happy to accommodate this. Room very clean and comfortable, and warm! Great location and amazing views of the city. Will stay again and would highly recommend
Review 3:Totally uncomfortable position. We found the rubbish of the previous guests in our room and hair on the bed. The accommodation doesn't provide almost any need: no hairdryer, no shampoo, sheets and towels to be payed (and they only give one big towel per person), no carpet for the shower, packed breakfast to be payed.
Review 4:Nothing bad, but a suggestion for improvement would be to put a mirror in the rooms in the apartments because six girls sharing one bathroom in the morning took a long time. With a mirror in the room, make-up could be done in the individual room, rather than the shared bathroom.
Review 5:The place was very clean and modern. The staff were very helpful and nothing was too much for them. It was about a 15-20 minute walk in to the city but completely do-able.
Review 6:The hostel charged for rental of bed linen and towels. I believe this is morally wrong and should be provided free of charge
Review 7:Good location with great views of the city. Nice, friendly staff and the hostel was very clean
Review 8:Because its a dorm style facility - you don't know if you are going to share with someone or not, new people were checked in after midnight. It's not a problem to share & in fact enjoyed meeting some other guests - would just be good to be told if the other rooms are occupied or not
Review 9:The rooms were of a decent size and you could make a double bed if you wanted. The kitchen facilities were excellent and we cooked quite a lot. Everything was very new and clean, you could do washing next door quite easily.
Review 10:The location up from the city center. The walk up is quite hard and if you have a big luggage even more.
Review 11:Staff was helpfull and very friendly I had an nighttrain and the invite me to use all the facilities until I have to leave Great kitchen and everywhere clean
Review 12:You might not like the location - it's *far* from central station. It's a good 20 min hike to get there, including a hill.
Review 13:Nice, clean, friendly.
Review 14:Location was hard to find, it was a spacious room for 2 bed but the arrangements of furniture and the electrical outlet were inconvenient
Review 15:Breakfast was a good value ( was about $6). Clean, parking space ( fee)
Review 16:The place was brand new, obviously designed originally to be student housing. It was clean and well maintained. There were lockers provided in the rooms with locks available to borrow. The staff was helpful, available to call on the phone 24 hours a day. Laundry services were easily accessible. Everything was pretty much perfect. And the bottom bunk by the door felt like a cozy little cave!
Review 17:No matter how good it is, still somewhat overpriced, even for expensive norway. For example, you will be required to pay extra on arrival for basic things like sheets and towel.
Review 18:Of the many apartments, hotels, guesthouses, and hostels I have stayed in across almost 30 countries definitely one of the best. The staff and management were professional. It's very clean and well organized. There are no problems with any ammenities, i.e., wifi, kitchen, hot water, etc. -- all good. Everything as planned.
Review 19:It would have been great if there was a toilet in the room as I have to get up several times per night to pee and I have feet injuries! Also, I realise no hostel actually does this, but being able to choose to take a lower versus upper bunk bed would be a bonus.
Review 20:Even though I had checked out already, my train was not going to leave until much later. The staff made it clear that I was more than welcome to stay as long as I liked in the communal area/kitchen. Felt really welcomed!
Review 21:Location is up a steep hill, in a quiet neighborhood. You need to pay extra for sheets and towel.
Review 22:Modern facilities, nice showers, clean, adequate kitchen with dishwashers, comfortable beds and lockers in the room. Overall, nice place to stay
Review 23:Still find it odd that a hostel in 2015 will charge for linen. nearly all YH associated hostels do this and it's just so outdated and nuts really, you book a bed but have to pay extra to make it a bed, a whole 50kr more!!
Review 24:Nice functional hostel
Review 25:More hooks would be useful in the bedrooms and shower rooms.
Review 26:Clean & quiet place to stay in Trondheim, up the hill from the centre. Loads of space (outside) for bicycles. Helpful staff. Only 20NOK to do some washing.
Review 27:there is still a hostel, it is always nice to feel that someone treat you with all due respect, the receptionist was too much easygoing person, but this is my opinion only.
Review 28:modern interior
Review 29:In dobble rooms is available only dobbel bed. Me and my friend were forced to pay extra for 2 singel rooms. There is no information about beds configuration on Booking. Pictures shows single beds.Total extra cost for single room like in Raddison.
Review 30:Service and location
Review 31:if you come by car, you have to be really careful. Even no sign limiting parking on the street you will gen fine of 300NOK! Wifi was not really working well. Poor signal coverage in some rooms.
Review 32:new building, walking distance to fortress and even to city center. nice kitchen available
Review 33:Sometimes there were no staff members on the desk to ask questions about how to get somewhere etc. Otherwise, nothing.
Review 34:We were assigned to a room in an apartment of 3 rooms so we had a bathroom and a kitchen shared just with a small group. It gave a feeling of privacy and comfort compared to sharing with a dozens of other guests. The kitchen was spacious and modern and there was plenty of storage space there (and in the fridge!), in our room and in the bathroom, all labelled by room. It was quiet, the beds were comfortable and there were two supermarkets within walking distance. The wifi was excellent in all areas and the staff was friendly.
Review 35:The mechanism of opening the doors was quite hard to understand. Expensive parking.
Review 36:We arrived earlier then we should (check-in) and our apartments were prepared. Equipment is new, big bed.
Review 37:1. A bit far away from the downtown. If you have baggage you'd better take a bus from the downtown. But the bus stop is also quite far away from the hostel, so you will have to walk on foot 500-700 meters. This way is very steep! 2). Also, there might be a lack of sockets in a room when all four beds are occupied. If I remember correctly, there are only two sockets for one person, whereas an average person carries from three to four devices which need to be charged (smartphone, laptop, camera, tablet). 3. the ventilation in the room cannot be switched off. When I took a shower and washed my head I don't want cool air in the room in order not to catch cold! Why not install a switch in every room? 4). The vending machines downstairs didn't accept the both of my credit cards. But these are small things, generally it was a great experience to stay there!
Review 38:I rarely give positive feedbacks, but this hostel is just amazing! The owners really THINK about their guests (which is not the case in the most of ho(s)tels) and provide best experience possible. Everything was just perfect, super clean and modern. The sound isolation was nice, there was internal ventilation in the building (so I could keep the window closed). I stayed in a four-bed room, but I was the only guest in this room (I think they give an empty room to every guest even if booked 4-room bed, unless there are no empty rooms left). The hostel is newly renovated and completely barrier-free. The kitchen facilities are amazing, so you can cook like at home! Conclusion: everything in this hostel is super well thought-out. They really did a great job, this hostel is a perfect example for owners of other hostels (who usually think only about their income).
Review 39:For light sleep travellers, prepare yours ears plugs, sometime you may be waken up by late check-in guests who share the same apartment with you.
Review 40:Walking distance to Trondheim city. Nice kitchen.
Review 41:Location is not very convenient
Review 42:Personnel is friendly and helpful, speak English freely. Rooms is clean, comfortable and cheap.Common kitchen has a table and a TV so it it possible to have a nice evening with friends.
Review 43:you have to bring your own linen and padlock or rent it the key has to be reactiveted every 24h
Review 44:clean and modern nice and helpfull staff big and well equiped kitchen comfortable bed
Review 45:The staff was very helpful and courtious. Hassan specifically was very friendly he had all possible information and was more than eger to ensure that the guest really enjoyed their stay. I had a sudden change in plan and had to travel to Bodo in the middle of my planed stay. Hassan was extreemly helpful in postponement of my stay but moving my reservation by two day at no additional cost. Such amazing and helpfull staff are difficult to find even in expensive hotels. Would love to visit again if possible.
Review 46:some misundestanding with on emploee that allmost made me pay twice the price of the site. Luckily her colluege took care of that.
Review 47:it's basicaly like living in a large home. very cozy and very friendly. also very clean
Review 48:On morning so big windows let pass too much light but... Even this was somehow nice.
Review 49:The place, the clean area and hostel, beds, everything was comparing with my last hostel in Oslo... Amazing. Small walk to the centre but it was worthy because the amazing views
Review 50:Could be seen as bit if a walk out of town, we weren't aware of the small apartment set up so if other guests not so likeable could be disappointing
Review 51:Small self contained apartments, we were fortunate to have like minded people in our flat, which naturally made experience better. Close for the airport bus out & could have walked to the bar & restaurant if we had wanted to.
Review 52:location map totally inadequate, I'm a geographer, and I arrived worrying there were two hostels in town! site doesn't advise getting off airport bus at Rosendal church (driver did!), much less steep, well signed. staff didn't ask if needed towel or bed-linen. staff didn't say key has to be reactivated daily - could have been locked out if returned after 2300. room prison-cell spartan.
Review 53:great location just above town, walk down through streets of old wooden-sided houses. excellent kitchen for each group of rooms, plus large common-room. perfect wi-fi.
Review 54:The best hostel I have ever been! The building is completely new, the common places and rooms have great forniture [IKEA style] and are very clean. The building has many small flats with 3 rooms each, which shares a private kitchen and bathroom. So if you book a double room like us you dont have to use the common kitchen at the ground floor. It seems to live in a student flat actually, really nice :). Last but not least, washing machine and dryer are FREE!!
Review 55:messy, slightly dirty fridge that needed defrosting. The cupboards in my room were missing a piece so that they could not be locked, the receptionist told me I would be alone in the room because of this but the next day someone was checked into my room and I had to explain the situation again to the new receptionist. This happened three times. The kitchen need more small pans for cooking
Review 56:beautiful area with great view. Functional rooms and bathrooms. good kitchen.
Review 57:The Wifi is slow and not stable in the room I stay. The bathroom cleanliness may be improved.
Review 58:I like the Kitchen very much. The bed is too soft for a lower back pain patient, this is not the hostel problem, just to acknowledge other travelers.
Review 59:The friendly atmosphere and the coffe was always on.
Review 60:Great view from the hostel. Very nice and helpful staff. Clean and modern rooms - all facilitates in the room and the Kitchen available.
Review 61:Not the hostel fault, but everything was closed during Christmas holiday
Review 62:Location close to city center Facilities Clean
Review 63:Not very good communication, no receptionist to let me in.
Review 64:very quiet
Review 65:All is perfect.-)

Review 67:Not valid for dogs, they only accept them in a cage
Review 68:Nothing
Review 69:Great value of money.
Review 70:I stayed in the apartment. The view from the hostel is great, as well as the living room and kitchen equipment. Very nice staff.
Review 71:Well equiped kitchen. Nice salon. Coffie and tea gratis.
Review 72:Fine ,new place, reasonable prices and decent distances.
Review 73:The Doorson the rooms should have a softer locking mechanism,so it would shut more quieter from outside.
Review 74:Nice matress in the room.
Review 75:Cleanliness , security, comfort, available kitchen
Review 76:The only down side is the sack lunch they give you for breakfast. Make other food plans.
Review 77:Very clean, professional staff, modern building.
Review 78:Really bad. The price you pay for bed sheets is what this place would cost anywhere else in Europe.
Review 79:No breakfast,noisy bed
Review 80:Modern building, friendly staff, very good and complete forniture, good position
Review 81:A big hill to walk up with my rucksack
Review 82:Nice clean and modern hostel with very good facilities.

Review 84:No breakfast was served.
Review 85:Staff was very helpful.
Review 86:The kitchen has everything you would ever need!
Review 87:Its a bit off the city center.
Review 88:Nice Kitchen and shared facilities. Easy Parking (paid) Convenient location even if not so close to city center
Review 89:Toilet drainage needs a fix badly.
Review 90:Great staff!
Review 91:insufficient cleaning of bathroom
Review 92:I booked 2 nights in a dormitory, but they were overbooked. Instead I was given an excellent private room for the same price. Very much appreciated.
Review 93:Expensive linen cost which was not advertised.. Cleanliness and out and date furniture in cottage.
Review 94:Friendly staff, beautiful location!
Review 95:No extern computer for use. :-(
Review 96:Facilities
Review 97:Reception isn't reliable
Review 98:Nice kitchen, bathrooms, and rooms. Wifi worked great, also good location
Review 99:The space felt sterile. No art or uniqueness to it. Very impersonal. Hard utilitarian beds.
Review 100:We liked the large window for fresh air.
Review 101:Nice stay, met nice people, good staff and clean, nice facilities :)
Review 102:clean, nice kitchen, wifi ok, servicemindet staff
Review 103:Warning- prepare yourself for the climb to the top of the street but once you are there- it's worth it!
Review 104:Very slick
Review 105:the hostel was newly renovated, has friendly and bright rooms and common spaces. Wifi with no complications.
Review 106:far away from city centre
Review 107:excellent kitchen... good n clean... linens cost extra
Review 108:window in the room could only be tilted, not opened completely
Review 109:very well equipped and modern kitchen; friendly atmosphere
Review 110:Breakfast to go
Review 111:The nice staff, the other travellers (young, open-minded)
Review 112:False firealarm 04.30 AM
Review 113:Very practical Good insulation between rooms made the room scilent Fantatic view over town
Review 114:Having to purchase a lock for the locker.
Review 115:Modern rooms and facilities
Review 116:the breakfast consisiting of a sandwich, a fruit, a juice, and coffee is rather small - at least for guys;)
Review 117:that we shared an apartment with bathroom and kitchen/living room with two other groups of travellers
Review 118:Too far from attractions and it is on the hill, which is less accessible when you first come.
Review 119:Very clean and new. Nice facilities and spacious. The kitchen is fantasic. I love it!
Review 120:It's quite the walk to the city center (hills) and the wifi got about 1 mb per second so it was very slow. Also wish they had a better breakfast option that was worth the money.
Review 121:The facilities were great and the staff was helpful. It is a friendly and newly renovated place, which was nice.
Review 122:A little walk out of town
Review 123:Fantastic place to stay - very clean and modern, friendly staff, great facilities and lovely views over the city. Would recommend staying here!
Review 124:the new girl in the reception was not knowing what she is doing,, even wanted to charge me more than I suppose to pay,, she was new there but at least shouldnt behave like she knows everything..
Review 125:the other guys in the reception was very helpful and friendly,, and the hotel is quite Ok and comfortable.
Review 126:Location was a bit of a walk to downtown but manageable. Can be a difficult walk if you have lots of luggage. Would be nice to see just some pump soap in the bathroom and paper towel.
Review 127:The facilities and nice, clean, modern and new. We had a private room (dorm style with three separate bedrooms and shared bathroom/kitchen in one room). The staff were also very friendly. They offer breakfast each morning for 49 NOK or about $8 CAD which was a nice perk as food is expensive. One day they had an error and only one of our breakfast's was available but right away they offered us a refund since they had made an error. That was very nice. Overall, I would return.
Review 128:If carrying bags the place is a decent walk uphill and away from town. Due to an administrative error we were charged for two rooms instead of one, this was rectified by an international money transfer but waiting for that to clear and transferring it back to a foreign currency was costly. Internet is run on many different networks throughout the buildings, our one died on the second day of our stay and despite requests it wasn't fixed by the time we left four days later - it was possible to go to reception and use a network there however. Rooms are set up as small units. Three bedrooms to one bathroom. Unfortunately the toilets are in the bathroom so one toilet for up to 6 people all using the shower too, not ideal.
Review 129:Newly renovated, good facilities and rooms are a decent size. Staff were all helpful and friendly, the few problems we did encounter they did their best to address (see dislikes). Good common room with TV, games and information about Trondheim. Basics available for sale from reception, handy but costly though, better to go to nearby supermarket (Rema 1000 - two blocks).
